This is my second fanfic and I know my writing still needs improvement but I'm trying very hard to make it better. Another note, I already have an ending for this story but my main problem is how to get there that would be very enjoyable for the readers. September 24 (Thursday)
"Good Afternoon Hermione, is this sit taken?" Luna asked while carrying a few books in her arms. Hermione shook her head. "You know it isn't Luna." Hermione replied and continued reading.
"Not true, Ronald has been beside you all the time. I should know because I tried sitting beside you but Ronald was with you all the time." Luna said and took a seat at the vacant chair. Hermione just glared at her only friend.
"I think he fancies you, everyone thinks he fancies you." Luna continued saying.
"Come on, Luna the day that Ronald Weasley fancies me will be the day that I will completely believe the creatures you say exist." Hermione replied while reading the book.
"So you do believe me. Come on Hermione it is blatantly obvious that he likes you." Luna said with amusement. When ignored her, Luna took something from her bag and pulled a piece of parchment. "Observation one: Ronald has become more well-mannered and cleaner than the previous years he has been. Observation two: Ronald and his friends have not been teasing or bullying us and Ron has not been part of the bullying that Michael and Ernie had been doing. Observation three: Ronald is taking his grades seriously. Observation four: Ronald has been staring at you with googly eyes." Luna recited from the notes in her parchment.
"That doesn't mean he fancies me." Hermione retorted, her full attention is now on Luna.
"From these observation, the researcher. Which is me." Luna paused and gesture to present herself to Hermione. "Has hypothesized that Ronald has been struck by a love arrow by the faery called cupid and has now fallen in-love by Hogwarts resident bookworm and outcast Hermione Granger." Luna said, she pause so she could see Hermione's reaction who is blushing but is glaring at her. Luna's amusement and excitement made her smirk at her reaction and she continued.
"For the researcher to confirm her hypothesis and theory, I applied a very serious, valid and very reliable method to reach a conclusion. I walked up to him directly and bluntly asked him if he fancies Hermione Granger. The method resulted into the conclusion that Ronald Billius Weasley is indeed in love with you. And the reason for the changes is to impress you." Luna said, she look at her and laughed silently for her reaction.
Hermione composed herself after sat up straight. "First of all, you can't conclude that Ron fancies me just because of the way he reacted when asked if he fancies me." Hermione pointed out.
"Oooh, do you want Ronald to confess to you in a big romantic gesture for you to believe?" Luna asked.
"NO!" Hermione loudly replied which resulted them into being shushed in the library. Hermione sighed, Luna was right and she can no longer deny the obvious. "Okay, I do believe you. I just don't know what to make of it. I mean, I'm flattered and all, and I appreciate the changes he made but he is one of the reason why both of our Hogwarts experience is hell." Hermione said and Luna just nodded in agreement. "How do I turn him down without him reverting into his old self?" Hermione asked with worry.
Luna just shrugged, "How should I know? I am not some love guru." Luna answered. The both of them went into comfortable silence as they were thinking for solutions for Hermione's problem. It was clear to Hermione that none of them has a current solution. She just opted to move on and change the topic. Mainly asking her to help her this Saturday.
September 26 (Saturday)
Harry was waiting for Hermione at the entrance hall. Many of his classmates had already invited him into going with them into the village but Harry explained that he was waiting for someone and that he would catch up with them. The she saw her and Luna together coming down the stairs. "Good morning ladies." Harry greeted with a bow.
"Good morning Harry, we're sorry we're late but Luna took too much time preparing." Hermione explained with a ragged breath. Harry just nodded as a response and invited them to go to the carriages together.
"What are we doing in Hogsmead today?" Harry asked to the both of them.
"We don't know since we always stay at the castle during weekends. Hermione and I talked about it yesterday and we planned on just visiting and trying out a bit of everything in the village. Places that would allow us to get in." Luna answered his questions.
"Great, but can we try the butter beer first? I've heard that it was something you can't miss when going to Hogsmead." Harry requested to his guides.
"Sure." Luna answered with a bright smile. It was clear that she is excited for this day. "Wait, you never have butter beer before and you've never been to Hogsmead?" Hermione asked incredulously.
"No. On the weekends I am tutored to catch up on the practical side. McGonagall told me that it was only because of excellence in the theories of every subject that I passed the entrance exam. So my mum and dad arranged for me to be tutored every Saturday and Sunday and the staff of Hogwarts would continue evaluating me by every month." Harry answered.
"How come I didn't know?" Hermione asked with anger in her voice. "That's because you've been avoiding him Hermione. If you didn't, you would have known and maybe joined him." Luna answered, and Hermione anger disappeared by the blunt answered of her friend as she realized that it was true.
"Yeah, since Luna is always in the castle during weekends. Ms. Green decided that she join us in the classroom. Although Luna would just read in the corner every time the lesson is in session." Harry told to Hermione.
'So that's why Luna was nowhere to be found in last couple of weeks." Hermione thought and just nodded in response to Harry.
"You're welcome to join you know. I really need another company beside Ms. Green in that classroom. Please." Harry begged to Hermione.
"Yeah, sure. I'm always in the library during the weekends anyways so why not." Hermione answered immediately. She would have doubted and even rejected him if Luna wasn't going there.
"We're here." Luna exclaimed and hopped out of the carriage much to the worry of Hermione and amazement of Harry. Hermione and Harry both got off the carriage and ran to Luna.
"That was awesome Luna!" Harry exclaimed. "Don't do it again Luna!" Hermione scolded Luna the same time Harry complimented Luna.
"What!? But that was awesome Hermione." Harry responded to what Hermione said. All the while Luna was just enjoying the conversation in between her friends. "And DANGEROUS!" Hermione emphasized.
"But she didn't get hurt." Harry replied with a chuckle. "Doesn't mean you should find a way to get hurt." Hermione said. "True." Harry said as he really didn't have any response.
"Three Broomsticks?" Luna asked to both of them and the three of them went on their way to the famous local pub.
Michael, Ron and Ernie were hanging out in the three broomstick, drinking butter beer mixed a little fire whiskey in it. Though it may be illegal, but slipping Madam Rosmerta a bit of galleons and she would give it to any student but only to students that are in their fifth year and above. They were drinking in the morning as Ron was depressed because of quidditch and Hermione.
"Ughh." Ron said while finishing the drink, he requested Rosmerta to have his drink more of fire whiskey than butter beer. "Why did we always tease Hermione again?" Ron asked towards his friends.
"It seems like a very fun idea then. Until you fancied her." Ernie answered and then laughed at Ron's problem who just groaned in response.
"What I don't understand is, why Hermione? You know there more prettier girls like Lavender and Susan." Michael pointed out while elbowing Ron in the ribs. "I'm actually thinking of asking out Cho Chang." Michael continued.
"I don't want either of them or anyone else. I want Hermione." Ron said depressingly. Right then and there Hermione entered and this got Ron's attention solely focused on her and he became sober immediately.
"Really Harry……" Ron heard from her and his depressed mood quickly turned into anger. "No offence Michael but your brother is a piece of shit." Ron ranted. "None taken, I think he is a piece of shit too." Michael replied.
"How did your mum and dad found him again and why did they have to bring him here?" Ernie asked to Michael who just shrugged as he also didn't know the answer.
"How did they become friends mate?" Ron asked. "Mum hired her to tutor Harry." Michael answered. Ron growled, it was taking a lot of effort for him not to pounce on that fucker.
Michael and Ernie continued to have conversation about the girls in Hogwarts, quidditch, hottest models on harem magazine and the updates in the dueling circuit. Meanwhile, Ron was glaring at the table that the trio were sitting, instilling every detail that transpired. Harry and Hermione were sitting beside each other while Luna was across them.
As Ron observed them, he noticed that Loony and Harry seems closer to each other than Hermione and it seems like Hermione is a third wheel. This made Ron's spirits lift maybe there was nothing to be worried about and that Harry fancies Luna instead of Hermione. But when Hermione drank her beverage and left a bit of foam in her lips.
This made Ron's heart flutter, she was absolutely stunning, cute and gorgeous and then the git wiped the foam in her lips in a sensual way which made her blush. This made Ron snapped, unable to hold his anger any longer. He stood up and ready to pounce on him but was held back.
Michael was holding Ron back since he know what he was about to do. He was about to do something very stupid. "Let go Michael or you're going to be at the receiving end of my fist." Ron hissed at his best friend.
"Now is not the time to do it Ron. If you do this, you'll be in trouble and you'll lose your chance with Hermione. Trust me, you do not want to do this." Michael explained in near whisper. When all eyes were on them, Ron seemed to get out of his temper trance.
"Come on. Finish your drinks and let's get outta here." Ernie said to both of them as they were the center of attention. If they get in trouble now, they'll be busted for drinking alcohol early in the morning. Ron just nodded and followed his two friends out of the inn.
"What's that all about?" Harry asked, still watching his brother and his friends leave the establishment. "I don't know but I'm pretty sure I have an idea." Luna answered. Hermione panicked and look at her friend hoping they have eye contact.
"What is it then?" Harry asked while turning his head to Luna. Luna looked to Hermione who was shaking her head, mentally begging her not to tell Harry that Ron might fancy her. "Well, Ron is still pissed that you stole his spot as keeper for the team. That's why he wanted to fight you." Luna answered.
"Huh. He must really want that spot." Harry said aloud his thought. "You should be careful Harry, they are going to make you their target in their bullying." Hermione warned at him.
"Why am I not surprise that they are bullies. Is it true that the two of you were the targets for their bullying?" Harry asked them and both of them nodded sadly at the truth. Harry exhaled and smiled brightly at them. "Well, looks like the three of us are going to suffer being their target together." Harry said with a chuckle.
They continued eating and hanging out in the inn for a while. Then they continued exploring the village. They went to Zonko's, Gladracks, a shop which sells various magical items. The last they visited was a bookstore and Hermione just went crazy.
Luna and Harry were alone in a row, Hermione was looking for books in another part of the store. "Luna, I have a question." Harry said while skimming books in the row. "Hmmm?" Luna hummed, encouraging him to ask her. "Do you think Ron fancy Hermione and if she fancies him?" Harry asked.
Luna stopped what she was currently doing and looked at him directly. After a short pause Luna replied. "I am not 100 percent sure that Ron fancies her but I'm pretty sure that he does. To answer your second question. No. Hermione doesn't fancy her."
"Are you sure?" Harry asked and Luna just nodded. "Okay, when you were targeted by Michael and his goons. What were their common actions to bully you?" Harry continued asking
"They always pull pranks on us. Most pranks are harmless but are very embarrassing. They also kept calling us names and they make us make their assignments and steal our allowances. My name is Loony while Hermione is beaver." Luna said to him sadly, Harry just put his arm around her shoulder and comforted her.
"What about the Ravenclaws, do they bully you?" Harry continued asking, Luna nodded as confirmation and said "They also kept calling me names, and pull pranks on me. Like stealing my homework and my items, such as my shoes and shirts."
Harry then hugged her as it felt to him that it was the right thing to do. "Don't worry Luna. I'm gonna make sure that it won't happen to you anymore." Harry said while stroking her back as an act of comfort. "If you think that the professors are going to help. Don't. They knew about mine and Hermione's situation and didn't do anything." Luna said.
"Like I said, don't worry about it. I promise you I will do everything to make it stop." Harry replied.
