Chapter 3: A new goal
Hero killer stain. Infamous for ending careers of pro heroes by killing or injuring them to the point of no recovery. Operates all over Japan and chooses his targets randomly. However Izuku noticed that his attacks weren't that random at all, indeed the heroes he chose to attack were supposedly randomly chosen but his attack pattern had some similarity. He kills two heroes in one city before moving to another one.
"Interesting."
Izuku then checked the list of cities the villain had recently killed in and found out that his city Musutafu had been safe from the villain's notoriousness. Izuku further analyzed the data and came to the conclusion that Stain will target his city in a few days. Stain lures his prey to a deserted alleyway or a building and finishes it off without anyone's knowledge.
Izuku knew where he had to search for the villain, the only problem that remained was the time the villain attack. There was no clear pattern in his timing meaning that he could attack at midnight or seven in the morning. Today was Saturday which meant that Izuku had tomorrow all to himself, he just have to be lucky to find him.
He was eager to get the day started. He had spent the previous night researching Hero Killer Stain and was confident that he can pull of this ridiculous plan of meeting the villain.
Izuku bid his mom goodbye and set on his way to find the menace known as Hero Killer Stain. But this task won't prove easy since Izuku had to scout out all the shady areas in his city and on top of that be lucky enough to run into the villain. A sense of failure took over Izuku before he even left his apartment compound.
"No, no I can't think of failure, I have to do this, I have to know. I'll complete this task no matter how impracticable it seems."
Izuku had mapped out his route which he'll be taking during the day. It covered most of the alleyways Izuku knew of and some new ones he found on a map. He devised his route in a way that covers all of the city and leads right back to his home.
"Ok then, all I need now is luck," Izuku said to himself rather enthusiastically.
He first searched through most of the dark alleyways near the agencies of pro heroes but found nothing not even a stray cat. It had been several hours of vigorous searching when Izuku decided to finally take a little break. It was around noon and Izuku had almost searched half the city to find nothing. Discouragement shrouded him, but giving up was not option especially since he had already made it halfway through. Izuku finished the canned drink he had bought and began walking down his route once more. Some more going through shady areas and Izuku was now near the outskirts of the city. There weren't much people here so the area was mostly empty. Izuku walked down the pathway looking for areas a villain might appear in, but then it struck him. There aren't even any hero agencies in the area, there would be no point in searching here. He let out a sigh and decided to give up for the day, it was highly unlikely for him to encounter Stain anyways.
"I'm home," Izuku shouted out as he entered his apartment. He had made it home earlier than he had anticipated.
"Welcome back, sweetie," Inko greeted him cheerfully.
The rest of his day was pretty uneventful, he had dinner with his mom and went to bed. Laying down Izuku thought what if he actually had encountered Stain today? How would've the conversation went or what if stain just killed him? Dying didn't even seem that much of a deal to Izuku, he would prefer to be alive but dying isn't really a bad idea. He shook his and brushed these thoughts out of his mind.
It was Monday which meant he had school today. He had to go back to the place where even the teachers don't bother to encourage or praise him. On top of that he'd have to deal with Bakugou.
"If only I had a quirk.…."
His mom interrupted him by serving breakfast, he looked at her to thank her and looking into Izuku's eyes shocked Inko. They were unusual, Inko had never seen her lively and positive son in such a state. His eyes were empty. No, they weren't empty, they gave of an aura of hatred and anger. Inko's mouth dropped.
"I-Izuku? Are you okay?" she asked him trying to cover up her intense worry.
"Hm? Why wouldn't I be? I'm fine," he told her assuredly with a smile.
Inko eased up a bit and nodded at his answer. Izuku left after finishing his breakfast.
His walk school wasn't anything to be amazed about. A simple walk straight to his middle school. Izuku was one of the students who arrived early, upon entering his class he placed down his school bag and took his seat. A few minutes later Kacchan entered the classroom and Izuku let out a sigh at his presence.
"Yo, deku you still alive? I thought you were gonna take my advice and die," Kacchan shouted at him with an evil smirk.
Izuku said nothing except giving him an angry glare, which was a huge mistake on his behalf because Kachhan took that as a declaration of war.
"Eh, what was that deku"- Bakugou now steaming with anger, grabbed his collar- "finally got enough balls to stand up to me?"
"Kacchan, I don't care in the slightest what you do to me. So take your anger and fuck right off," Izuku said in the most calm tone ever with a hint of anger.
Bakugou's mouth was hanging open, Deku for the first time ever opposed him, the quirkless bastard finally grew a spine. Bakugou was kind of happy at this revelation but at the moment he was fuming with anger.
"Why you little-"
" that's enough. Kindly take your seats," their teacher had entered the class, Izuku was safe for the time being.
The final bell of the day rang and Izuku knew he was about to get the beating of a lifetime now. Bakugou stood up, shot Izuku an angry look and the class. Izuku swallowed hardly and made his way outside the school as well. This was going to be a long day. He made his outside the school grounds and suddenly heard a loud shout he knew too well.
"DEEKKUU!"
"Kac-kacha-"
Before he can even finish his plead for mercy or defend himself, he took an exploding punch to his stomach and dropped to his knees, grabbing his stomach. Bakugou continued his beatdown with a kick to Midoriya's head which made him drop down, he continued to kick him brutally till Izuku almost lost his conscious by crying and getting beat up.
"Don't you dare defy me bitch," Bakugou said while spitting on Izuku. He then left him.
After ten minutes of laying on the ground and crying with pain, Izuku managed to gather enough strength to get up and limp his way home. After a long and intensely painful walk Izuku gave up halfway and dropped down beside a dark alley, the passerby's gave him no attention. Izuku took a deep breath, that first punch to the stomach hurt like hell. He regretted saying all that to Kacchan.
"Why did I do that."
What happened next made Izuku forget all of his pain. He heard a muffled shout not too far away from the dark alley. Without thinking further he got up and moved toward the sound, he then heard the sound of a blade slashing, terror streamed down all of his body. He saw a somewhat hunched figure standing on top of a dead hero, the figure was removing the bloody sword from the hero's body. His stomach suddenly ached with pain and he dropped down, the sound from him dropping down made the killer turn his attention toward Izuku, now more than ever he regretted opposing Kacchan.
"My, my what do we have here," the killer said in a harsh and cold voice as he moved toward the petrified Izuku.
He came close to Izuku and pointed his blade at him. He mustered enough courage to look into the killer's eyes and suddenly he was hit with a sense of accomplishment and happiness. The figure in front of him had a kind of triangular face with his and forehead covered with a piece of very long cloth, it only had opening for his eyes to see.
The person in front of him was Hero Killer Stain.
