Bruce first realizes his sons' disorders.

Chapter 124: Disorder

Bruce's POV

Dick has ADHD and occasionally exhibits symptoms of depression.

"Sit still!" I growled as the tiny eight year old continued to fidget.

Dick continued to squirm from his attention atop the gargoyle overlooking the Gotham City First National Bank. I could barely contain my annoyance as he continued to fidget, hum, sing, and swing from the decoration as if we weren't on his first stakeout.

Dick whined, "Bruuucccceeee, I'm bored."

"Batman! You will refer to me as Batman in the field," I grumbled.

Dick suddenly flipped from his gargoyle onto mine nearly giving me a heart attack. He scrambled onto my back and wrapped his arms around my neck as I tried to return my heart beat back to normal.

"How much longer are we gonna be here? Do you think Alfred's waiting for us? Do you think he's making cookies? When can I meet Superman? Do you think the people below us look like ants? I do… We're really high up, huh? Have you ever been afraid to fall…" Dick trailed off as a sob caught in his throat.

Robin started to cry as I exhaled slowly. I comforted him as best as I could before taking him home. He clearly has ADHD but the depression will fade with time… I hope. I know I never got over my parents' death but maybe the boy will overcome it… and please let him get over ADHD.

Jason has anxiety and PTSD.

It'd only been a week and I was already worried about Jason's ability to adjust. He'd steal leftovers and loose change to stash in his room. He was always looking over his shoulder. The boy couldn't stand being cornered and he'd flinched if I so much as laid a hand on his shoulder. I even had to have a talk with Dick about refraining from hugging Jason.

I froze as I entered my study and immediately found Jason on the floor with his hand inside of my safe. How did he even pick the combination? I quickly noticed his eyes wide and full of fear as they flickered from me to the door.

"Jason, why?" I asked. "You don't need to steal anymore. If you want something all you have to do is ask."

Jason immediately backed up and shook his head. "Don't think I don't know what your game is! Giving me everything only to take it away and make me give you something in return! I ain't doing it anymore!"

He immediately tried to make a run for it with my mother's pearls clenched in his fist. I caught his arm causing the pearls to fall to the floor. I tried to ignore the flinch, the wild look in his eyes, and the sob that got caught in his throat.

"What are you going to do to me?" he practically whimpered as his tough guy act slowly dissipated.

Still holding onto his arm, I sank down to his level before replying, "Ground you… I know you've been hurt before and I know a lot of men have made you do bad things but I will never hurt you. You're safe here. I just want you to be my son, okay? I promise."

Too afraid to reach out to him, I just looked away as he cried.

Tim has OCD and tends to exhibit that he will never be good enough.

I stated, "Tim, you need to go to bed."

Taking in his bloodshot eyes, shaking hands, and the constant mistakes on his report, I immediately frowned. When's the last time he slept? He hasn't always been like this has he? He's only fourteen but I've had him since he was nine.

"I'm fine," he huffed as he continued typing.

"I can count twelve mistakes on that page you're currently typing."

His eyes widened as his hand continued to shake. He immediately tried to apologize. His eyes roamed the document as he frantically tried to fix his mistakes while continuing to murmur apologies. I finally slammed his laptop shut.

"That's enough, Tim."

"Bruce, please. I'm sorry. It won't happen again. Don't make me give up Red Robin. I'll try harder. I'll do better. I promise. I'll-"

I shook my head. "No one said anything about taking Red Robin from you. If I was going to take something away it'd be coffee and energy drinks. Go to bed, Tim… And Tim, you are good enough. Jason wouldn't have passes Robin down to you and I wouldn't have kept you as a partner if you weren't."

He still looked deflated but nodded as he slowly got up and headed for his room. How could I not have noticed earlier?

Damian has abandonment issues.

It wasn't even a mission. It was just a parking garage with foundation issues. It was just supposed to be a business meeting with the head of a very important corporate head in Toyoko. I should have never have taken Damian with me. I just wanted to get to know my newly acquired seven year old.

"Father!"

"Damian!" I screamed trying to force my way through the debris of the collapsed building.

I grimaced as I finally found him bleeding heavily with a heavy slab of concrete covering his leg. I immediately lifted the slab off of him. He cried out as I winced at the form of his mangled leg.

"You're going to leave me now," he miserably stated.

"Leave you?" I asked in shock.

"I-I cannot fight. I am of no use to you in this condition. You will have to leave me… It is our way."

"No. It was your way. Not anymore. Never again. I won't ever leave you, Damian."

"Mother would."

I shook my head. "I won't. I promise."

If you ask Alfred, he'll tell you I display all of their conditions as well.

All I could see was my parents lying dead in a gutter along with my children. The PTSD kicked in as I looked at the unanimated bodies of Dick, Jay, Timmy, and Damian. Depression sank in as I wished I would have tried harder, been faster, been a better father. I could have saved them. They were gone and I was alone.

I woke up immediately to see Dick sitting in the chair closest to me. Realizing that I was in the medical bay in the cave, I glanced over to see Dick leaning back in his chair, craning his neck counting the bats in the cave rambling about nonsense. His ADHD had clearly kicked in. Jason was staring off into space most likely linking the crowbar that had knocked me out to his own run-in with the Joker. Tim looked so distressed. He probably blamed himself since he'd been on patrol with me. And Damian looked so afraid of losing me and of ending up alone.

"It's alright boys. Everything is fine. I can take a little hit to the head."
