This is for a prompt from kpficprompts on Tumblr. It is a drabble, no matter how long this mf got LOL, and will go no further than this. I COULD but I won't. Why are you booing? XD
Drew Theodore Lipsky stared up at the rather run down apartment complex he had just moved into. The paint job looked like an Easter Egg sneezed all over it. The walls were pink and the banisters were purple, turquoise, and green. If he hadn't just gotten a job in the city working for one of the most influential labs in the entire world, he may have just turned around and ran back to the cab.
He looked down at the copy of his lease, that reeked of cigarettes, then back up at the building. He sighed out and moved to the single glass door. The doorway to that door was riddled with mailboxes on both sides of the frame. He reached into his pocket and took out the rusty key and jittered it into the only key-slot to get into the building. Drew cringed at the sandpaper feel of the key scraping as he turned it, but the door loosened and he pulled it open.
The smells of urine and smoke gagged him immediately. The distance static of all the tenants on the first floor hummed in his ears as he rushed to the stairs just before him. He began the climb and his mind wandered.
Drew was a doctor of neurorobotics. He had wanted to drop out SO many times, but... his love of knowledge and yearning of creating made him stick with it. 10 years to be exact. The doctorate he obtained was probably the hardest thing he ever had to do, but... his hard work paid off. He was now a citizen of Go City, in a rather financially acceptable apartment only a block from Vigor Labratory, the lead in robotics in the country, doing what he always wanted to do.
He remembered his internship in Japan was the whole reason he was now the lead designer in the AquaTwilight deep ocean explorer. His research on the pressure capacities of certain metals single-handedly made the creation of this automaton plausible. He was now in charge of testing the AquaTwilight with every known problematic variable it could run into within its journey. With the combined strength of the medusa-laced kevlar cabin and the acidic-yarn aluminum made pixel camera, they could dive down to the Earth's core if needed. It could with stand an atomic explosion, so he wasn't a tad bit worried.
Drew cleared the stairs to the third floor and his mind shifted to another thought... his apartment tour. He had a roommate; that he knew to be true, but he never got to meet him. The landlord told him that his roommate was a shut in, yet had paid rent 3 years in advance. The only complaint the landlord had ever had about the tenant was they never left. When he had moved all his stuff in, the roommate's door was closed and they never once came out. Drew was fine with that... he wasn't so good with people, anyways... but still... how rude.
He stared at his door's number and frowned a bit. All the numbers were hanging down from their initial position and looked to spell ELLO. The number was supposed to be 3770. He shook his head and unlocked the door and slipped inside.
Though the building looked like a hot mess, the apartment was not. It was spacious and well lit. The living room wide, having two couches and a recliner around a well polished coffee table that all seem to face the 50 inch television mounted strongly against the wall with an entertainment center that held two box receivers, a well strategized speaker system, and countless DVD's and CD's.
The large glass door just on the other side was nearly blacked out by the large hanging blinds that swayed to the breeze of the air conditioner vents.
The hardwood floor looked polished and waxed all over the space and even reached over to the medium sized kitchen area. There was a bar-like table island just on the outskirts of the kitchen area. There were four stools neatly pushed underneath the front of it. The wood was only a few shades lighter than the hardwood, but matched the surface of the island. That, contrasted with the darkened marble of the kitchen counters, made the island look like an oasis in the desert.
Just around the corner of the kitchen, away from the small five stairs up to where the living quarters were, was the door that led him to actually signing the lease to this place... a small guest room with nothing but two walls, floor to ceiling, covered with shelves of books and a window nook tunnel lined with cubbies with flowers and little knick-knacks. It was big enough for him to scoot in and sit cross-legged... but it was the view the window gave that really sold him. Go City was nothing to look at when you're too busy trying to get a cab or just trying to live, but... when you see it from a top of a hill in a tacky apartment building... it was breath-taking.
The night was when the view made the never sleeping city look like the cave of wonders. Lights of all colors bled into the darkness with spotlights swaying to the stars. Wave after wave of splendor that made Go City an ocean of light.
Drew sighed out of his thoughts and looked over at his roommate's door. Closed, as usual. He cleared the steps up in one bound and moved to his left towards his door. He passed the single bathroom, in between their two rooms, and the small closet they kept the toilet paper and other amenities.
His room wasn't small, but wasn't huge either. His bed practically took up the majority of the space. His mother was insistent that he take the king sized bed his father had once owned and even though he fought her about the size of the bed... he actually liked all the space.
He had two closest in his room. One was a deep walk-in closet that he hung all his button up shirts, jackets, and work pants in and on the floor were his organized spots of shoes. He had his dress shoes and multiple types of boots and running shoes. In the corner was his umbrella and at the very back wall he had his ironing board and iron safely tucked away.
The other closet was just a shelf with a door on it. He put his deodorant, cologne, watches, and other knick-knacks in it. It actually helped keep the top of his dresser drawer cleaned off which was perpendicular to where the closet door was located. The 4'7" tall dresser was pressed against the wall just beside the entry door and pressed in the corner of the wall. The dark wood complimented the tracing of the dark wood of the room and the cream colored carpet laid throughout the floor.
Beside his huge bed was a very small nightstand with a flat-screen alarm clock with big red numbers and a flat, disk-like contraption he used to charge his phone. He dug it out of his pocket and placed the smart phone on the charging bay. Nothing happened and he groaned out as he forgot it didn't charge with the case on. He undressed the phone and tried again... the phone made a happy chime as he tossed the case on a shelf underneath the top and he flopped on top of his bed that had the only two windows in the room right above it. As he closed his eyes, he could hear the faint hiss of the city life just outside the walls. He started work in two weeks, so he had a chance to get to know the place rather well.
He didn't drink, do drugs, dance, or try to have sex with anything that showed him interest... he was a very boring person. He never kept a partner long because of how boring and dedicated to his work he was. He was told that by all of his potential mates. He grumbled to himself and took one of his many pillows and placed it on his face. He didn't need sex to feel fulfilled, but... having someone to hold in bed or cuddle up to when he couldn't sleep... he found he yearned for that more than anything. Then the thought of having to chat up someone made his stomach drop. Yearning was all he was ever going to do, it seemed.
A sudden thump and crashing noise just outside his door made him jump out of his thoughts and bed. It was a very heavy thump and he remembered he had a roommate. He rushed and pulled open his door and looked around... he saw nothing. He looked a few more moments before just shrugging it off and going back inside... until a pale, lean and fit, woman stepped out from the bathroom door with long shiny black hair and not one single bit of clothing on rubbing the side of her head and cringing in pain.
Drew inhaled his gasp and held it as he saw her breasts gleaming from the perspiration and the messy bush of hair covering her pubic mound. Her towel was gripped in one of her hands but looked to be too short. She was the most stunning woman he had ever seen this close without having to push the play button. She slowly turned her head and they piercing green eyes met his... she looked just as surprised as he was. The water droplet slowly cascaded down her cheeks and delicately dripped down off her chin. They stared at each other for years... that's what it felt like... until his mind screamed at the top of its metaphoric lungs and Drew bolted back into his room.
He stared at the back of his door with his heart thumping against his rib cage while his lungs desperately gasped for air. He waited for the woman to scream... kick down his door... call the police... anything except what she did. The soft knock made him jump back as a venomously sweet voice spoke behind the door, "Hope you enjoyed the show, dude. Next time, you'll pay full price." AND THAT was how he met his new roommate.
Saturday morning started off awkwardly for him. He snuck out of his room as if trying to hide from the police. The bathroom, just a few feet down from his door, was probably the most extravagant room in the apartment. It was one spacious hunk of a room. Probably the same size as his room with the closet space added. The tile was a scaled with warm grey stone and complimented the walls that were just a tad shade darker. The sink was black and grey granite marble with a copper faucet. There was a long mirror that stayed with the length of the sink and had two hidden doors on the other side of it. They opened like a kitchen cabinets. One side was filled with his roommate's personal things and the other side had his.
The shower was a walk in and every single wall sprayed you. The windows of the shower were like the windows in an interrogation room. They were mirrored on the outside, but you could clearly see through them on the inside.
The pressure of the water was probably the best he's ever had in any location he has ever lived at. Any harder and it would feel like you were getting hosed by a S.W.A.T. team. The far corners had durable and sizable shelves for shampoo and soap. His roommate's stuff was organized on the middle shelf with a lime green loofa hanging off one of the generic pump shampoo bottles.
The toilet was nothing fancy. There was a shaggy black top to it that matched the bath mat around the front of it.
As he finished urinating, washing his hands and face, then flossing and making sure his face wasn't fuzzy... he looked at himself in every mirror in the room and paused. The thought of his roommate's very naked body plagued him and he shook it out of his head... making room for the panic of what if she's out there waiting for him. He swallowed nervously before pep talking himself and exiting.
She was NOT out there... he thanked God. He moved to the kitchen where he decided he wanted an omelette. He got out his eggs, his mother had groceries brought to the place two days ago, and some cheese. Then he pulled out some bacon then plucked a pepper from the pantry THEN all the spices he needed to give it a kick... also, he wanted some toast.
He got the ingredients chopped, buttered, and beaten as the pan had a chance to heat up. The stove and oven were the electric, glass top and it heated the pan quick. He decided to cook the bacon first. He slipped the four strips into the pan and it began to hiss and crackle. As he let the strips cook, he added the peppers and seasoning to the eggs and mixed it a bit before going back and flipping the slices. The smell began to fill the kitchen. He moved down the counter and got out the toaster and started the first two slices. When he moved to go back to the pan, his heart nearly jumped out of his chest as his roommate, clothed this time in baggy black sweat pants and tight lime green tank top, standing close to the pan sniffing the air in delight.
He calmed himself and moved to his pan to flip the bacon. The woman didn't move but didn't crowd him, either. He sighed and asked, "Would you like some? Making an omelette with peppers and bacon with toast. I could make you one, if you like."
He heard the rip of the fridge opening and turned his head to see her pulling out her carton of orange juice. She looked over at him with a smile and he snapped his attention back to the bacon and her voice reached him, "Yes. Please. I'll even share some of my juice with you."
He have a nod as he placed the fully cooked bacon onto a plate lined with paper towels to seep the grease out. He started the first omelette for her. He let the eggs and peppers bubble before crumbling two bacon strips over the top, "Would you like cheese?"
He heard her pop the P in her "Yep" and he took the bag of shredded cheddar on the counter and sprinkled it in. He watched it melt as he used the spatula to test if he could get it under. His roommate's voice cut in from the island, "Sorry about last night... I forgot you moved in."
He swallowed and poked at the pan. He cleared his throat and spoke through his obvious embarrassment, "There's nothing to apologize for. I just hope your head it alright."
He felt the heaviness of the room lift when she chuckled, "I just hope the sink's ok."
He found himself smiling as he folded the omelette and flipped it over. He waited a beat before turning around to look at her, "I'm Drew."
It could've been the clouds moving away to let the sun shine through, but... when she smiled... the room got brighter, "Shay."
He turned back around and flipped the omelette as Shay spoke again, "So, Drew... what do you do for a living?"
He took a plate he set out and placed the omelette upon it just as the toast popped. Just in time, he sang in his head, as grabbed a butter knife from one of the pull drawers and took the toast out to start to butter, "I am a doctor of neurorobotics."
As he spread the melted butter over both slices, he heard her sing, "Wooow. So... you're the guy who's gonna build Skynet?"
He cut her toast in half and placed the slices all around the plate and laughed. He brought her the plate and she was still smiling up at him. He shook his head and cleaned the pan to start his omelette. He moved to add the bread into the toaster as he spoke out, "And what is it that you do, Shay?"
He could hear metal on porcelain as she spoke, "I~... teach English online to four different countries; Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China. My room is my office."
As he listened, he watched the egg solidify and was quite impressed. His thoughts were cut off as she chuckled through her chewing, "You thought I was some kind of porn star, huh?"
He snapped a look over his shoulder with his brows frowning hard, "Of course not. Until last night, I didn't even know you were a female. I just thought you were some depressed shut in."
He could hear her swallow the food, "Ouch... In my defense, every single time you've come to see the apartment or even move in... I was doing class."
He flipped his omelette and nodded. It made complete sense. She was teaching four classes. That had to be busy work. One more flip and his toast popped up. He plated his food and went to butter his toast as she hummed, "This is so goooooood. Your cooking almost makes up for the fact that you'll create the artificial intelligence that will destroy all of humanity."
He turned and laughed. She held up a glass of orange juice and placed it right beside her. What... What was happening? She began eating her food and he had time to process what just happened. They... They were talking normally. He hasn't talked to a woman in 6 years when Amy dumped him for some rich snob.
Talking with Shay was easy. Well, she made it easy. As he sat beside her, he watched her happily filling her face with his cooking and he couldn't help but remember he had saw her naked not but a few hours ago. Her body popped into his head and he snapped his attention to his food... his face was on fire so he knew he was blushing.
"Got a girlfriend or boyfriend?"
He chewed his bite once a looked over at her, "Neither. You?"
She took a swig of her juice, "Don't have time. Barely get enough time to go out and find someone. Just to warn you, I do occasionally drink and bring home fuckboys... sometimes girls if the place is too grimy."
He was finding this a little uncomfortable, but he ate a bite of his toast and tried to be nonchalant, "So... you're bisexual AND bilingual. My... you must be popular."
He noticed she stopped moving and he slowly looked over to her. She had a strange face that was a mixture between amused and offended, "I'm sorry... I'm not used to having a roommate with a brain AND a sense of humor. Forgive me if I just sit here and take it in."
He scoffed out a laugh, "I can also cook, clean, and sew."
He enjoyed watching her face twitch as she shook her head in amusement, "Why aren't you someone's wife... you're amazing."
He rolled his eyes and moved back to his plate as she laughed and did the same. They sat in comfortable silence of eating until she spoke again, "When do you start the big job?"
He drank the last bit of his juice and licked his lips, "In two weeks."
She got up out of her stool and went to the sink. As she cleaned the plate, she spoke loudly over the rushing water, "Wow. You are a bonafied over-achiever, aren't you? What do you say I take you out on the town to show your around. I have two classes today, but I'm free tonight. You interested?"
He nibbled his toast, nervously, but nodded, "Sure. Any particular dress code?"
She turned around, amusement still on her face, "You sweet summer child... I'm not taking you ballroom dancing or to an opera. Just put on some decent pants and a shirt. I'll meet you in the living room."
Drew did nothing all day. He answered a few emails and looked through his social media pages until he was officially bored. He decided to slip into the special room. He walked inside and just looked around at the different books. He was afraid that they were all going to be romance novels and young teen books, but there were biographies and historic books along with many of the classic literature books. The paperback books all looked old and used while most of the hardbacks looked untouched and new. He also found that the entire library was in alphabetical order by author's last name. He... was quite impressed.
He eventually just slide into the small tunnel and laid on his back. The warm sunlight radiated its warmth against the cooled hardwood floor and seemed to give life to the small plants on the shelves. He stretched out, feeling the coolness of the air hit is exposed belly. It had only been a day and... he loved it here.
As the sun set, he decided to get ready for his Saturday night out. He moved to his room to get a change of clothes ready and saw that Shay's door was still closed. He got to his room and the large red numbers of his digital clock told him it was 6pm. He got his towel and laid out his outfit for the evening on his bed.
The shower looked complicated, but it was the easiest turn of the knob he ever experienced. He kept his towel on top of the toilet, folded. He took off his clothes and stared at the big door. When he got in, it was just a simple twist and everything shot on. The water wasn't too hot and hit every angle on him. He washed his face thoroughly before getting everything else scrubbed. The bath mat on the floor allowed him to keep his grip as he scrubbed his feet before his bits came next.
The water rushed against his ears as he rinsed his hair out. When all the suds were out, he flung his hand through his hair to dry it a little bit before turning and opening the shower door without looking. His foot dropped to the memory foam mat outside the shower door when he looked up and his whole body froze. He didn't hear the door open but he could see a shocked Shay staring right at his very naked body.
They were both stuck in limbo until Shay finally snapped out of it and muttered an apology before slamming the door shut. He was in a state of shock before he stepped out of the shower, completely, and started laughing hysterically. What were the odds? He dried off as fast as he could, brushed his teeth, and found himself staring at his reflection before laughing again. After a while, he sighed sadly before looking down at his freckled arms... tonight was going to be either canceled... or one awkward tour.
He looked at himself in the mirror and made a meh face. He wore his dark blue Dockers with his white Pasadena Buck shoes. He had on a white T-shirt that said "This is where it's AT-AT". It had the four legged bot in a side ways ball cap and a gold chain around its neck with a huge golden money sign pendant. He looked comfortable, but... he also looked too comfortable?
He groaned loudly and looked at the clock. It was going to have to do. He put on his black, minimalist leather Fossil watch then grabbed his wallet and phone off the nightstand and took a huge, deep breath at his door. He chuckled to himself, nervously, as he said to himself... now they're even. They've both seen each other naked and... now they can BOTH be awkward weirdos for this outing (if she even bothers showing). With a huff through his nose, he opened the door and stepped outside.
His eyes found her on the couch in the living room. She wore a black speghetti strap tube top with a chibi Cthulhu and its face tentacles encased around the world its hugging as it drools happily on it. She had ripped up, faded tight blue jeans on with black and white Vans on. Her hair was in a long braid and draped over her shoulder and she had black lipstick that matched her polished fingernails. She looked exactly like the girls in high school that all the boys wanted... it was kind of intimidating.
Shay got up off the couch and gave a whistle, "You clean up niiice."
He have a smirk, "I was about to say the same about you."
They hopped on the bus and were pleasantly surprised at how empty it was. They sat relatively in the middle and side by side. He felt like an idiot since there was no one on the bus, but... she didn't seem to mind as she looked down at her phone, "Okay... so, we're going down town first. They have a small free folk festival there. The big concert isn't until 9 so we can scope out the vendors and have a little fun. It's not the WOW tour you were looking for, but... it won't be boring."
He smiled and nodded, still looking down at her phone before realizing she was staring at him. He leaned back and made a face. She laughed at herself and looked straight as she kicked one of her knees up, "Look... I-I'm really sorry about the shower thing. I didn't hear the shower so I just went in like normal."
He laughed and that made her look over. He looked around the bus before whispering, "I think that makes us even."
Shay made a noise with her lips, "I think I got a better look at you than you did of me."
Drew hummed and tilted his head with a smile, "I... ehhh... I got a pretty good look. We're even."
She shook her head in his peripherial and swiped her phone screen, "Well... Here's to new beginnings."
He looked over at her as she raised both her hands with the phone and she took a selfie of the two of them.
Downtown was full of people. The vendor's tents were every few feet and were selling everything from essential oils to leather goods. The food smelled amazing. Shay dragged him into tent after tent looking at shirts, homemade pottery, and even crystals and rocks. She was so good with talking to the people that he felt comfortable enough to join in. He learned all the different ways of extracting oils. He learned that honeysuckle was his favorite smell. He also learned that it's best to have a low temperature on the pyrography pen when designing on leather. All because Shay was there.
They chowed down on barbeque, fried corn on a cob, and a rainbow shaved ice. They shared a beer then bought organic smoothies to wash the taste of the beer out of their mouths.
She pulled him in a closed tent where there was nothing by black light and a small line to what looked like a tattoo artist. He baulked a little, but she reassured him it was just body paint. When they got up to the artist, Shay asked him about body marbling. The man brightened up and yelled for his husband to get the buckets ready.
When they walked out of that tent, Shay's bare arms was covered in trippy waves of lines and color that looked like she was made of bright green and black marble. They glowed under every black light they passed by, which was a lot... he just noticed.
Drew looked down at his own arms and rotated them in all different kind of directions. His was mostly deep blue with black lines here and there and a mixture of white. He looked like an exaggeration of water, he laughed at himself... but it looked really cool.
An announcement was made about the concert starting and they both headed that way. There were no seats, just a grassy hill and a stage out in the middle of the field. As everyone stood around, Shay stuck up conversations with the people close to them. He had drowned out most of the convo as he was slowly building up the need to get the hell out of the crowd. He didn't mind clusters of people... until he was in the middle of the human sea.
"Are you two... together?" His ears finally able to hear something other than the pounding of blood. He looked at Shay as she shook her head, "Just roommates."
He just noticed the surrounding people all smiling and looking at the two of them. One of the young guys, shaggy dirty blonde hair with golden brown eyes, say comedically, "... and they were roommates!"
There was a big laugh from the group and one of the sweet looking young girls leaned over to talk to Shay and the question was clear, "What do you look for in love?"
Shay scoffed at the question and shook her head, "I don't look for love... I look for release. A little fuck and thank you, next."
Drew's brows slanted in worry at her answer as all the people whistled and hollered childishly. He had no idea why he spoke, but there was no way of stopping it, "What good is release when you get no closure in the end?"
Everyone looked at him like he just pissed on their shoes, but it was Shay's face that had his full attention. She squared up to him then leaned forward, "What? What are you talking about?"
He mimicked her movements and fully forgot that other people could hear, "How is letting someone slam themselves into you until THEY climax and pass out all while leaving you frustrated and unfulfilled, what you're looking for? You're better than that. Why WOULDN'T you be looking for love? Love isn't just sex... it's so much more. It's intimate touches, deepened kisses, and intellectual pillow talk. NOT TO MENTION that the whole goal of making love is that BOTH find their culmination. Why are you downplaying love like it's a bad thing?"
It was suddenly her against him and there was no escape. He swallowed as she stepped closer and spoke in a hushed snarl, "I've done the whole LOVE shit thing... and it broke my heart and left me for a blonde bimbo with huge tits. I just need the release."
He pressed closer and whispered just as harshly, "You're not the only one who's had their heart broken. You're too young to act like love has abandoned you. Anyone who would choose a big boobed woman over you wasn't worth you time, anyways. Try being dumped because your personality was too bland then come and talk to me about shitty love."
There was a collective buzz of humming around them, but all he noticed was that Shay's face relaxed. He sighed out and pulled the seam of his shirt down nervously. Shay licked her lips and spoke softly, "You got dumped because you were boring?"
The crowd around them started laughing. There was a booming voice coming from the speakers all around thanking everyone for coming. He cut his eyes away from her towards the stage... his chest still tight. The light tug of his hand made him look back over at her and she was talking as loud as she could, but he couldn't hear her or understand her mouth moving. He cringed at how loud the speakers were then gestured to her he couldn't hear.
She pulled him close and put her mouth right on his ear as she said, "I just met you and I don't think you're not boring."
He felt his body tingling at the warmth of her breath on his ear. He angled his head right and spoke to her ear, "Thanks, but you don't have to lie. I really am pretty dull."
He felt her cheek brush against his own as she moved away from him to look him in the eye. She had a sad, sympathetic look on her face as her nose bumped gently against his as the deafening noise of the music began to play and their marbled colored arms glow as the stage blared out in black lights. She shook her head and he read her lips, "No... You're not." Just as she pulled him close and cleared the rest of the distance, herself.
Her lips were so soft like velvet pillows; warm and gentle against his own. Nothing around him mattered anymore but that feeling. He put all his focus into holding her... savoring the connection that deepened the more they embraced. When she broke the kiss, it was only to get air as her painted hand cupped his cheeks, caressing him before pecking a few times before he swooped in and began kissing at her neck. She arched into it then wrestled him back into a kiss with tongues and vibrations. Her grasp of his scalp mixed with nips at his lips made him more aware that she was pressed too close to not feel how turned on he was.
His hands was on her exposed sides as she pulled away. He was panting and so was she, though he couldn't hear it... it was obvious. She rested her forehead on his with her eyes closed as the music thundered louder. Her blaring green eyes popped back open and met his curious gaze. He felt fire sweep down his body at how primal she looked. It only took a few moments for her to look around before grabbing his hand and pulling in through the crowd.
It was like moving through room temperature honey, but they eventually got out of the crowd and towards the streets. While they stood at the bus stop, the frantic energy from before seemed to have worn off on both. His ears were ringing and burning. He stretched out his jaw to get his ears to pop but all he did was yawn. He was very wrong about the wearing off part because Shay pushed him into the corner of the shelter and started another kissing match.
How long had it been since any kissed him like this? Her mouth was so eager but her tongue so shy. He kissed her back with brisk suction and frustrated moans that she matched while clenching the front of his shirt. As the bus pulled up, the two broke apart in a daze and paid their toll. It was a bit more full, this time, as they made their way to the back. There was a single seat open and they were more than willing to take it. He sat in it and pulled her into his lap. She sat long ways over his legs and dipped into a kiss.
They ignored all the stares as he fingered some of the loose thread of her torn jeans. She kissed the side of his face and nibbled on his ear before whispering, "I told you you weren't boring."
She pulled away to look at him. She was caressing his face, again, and he smiled. A feeling of just wanting to pleasure this practical stranger took over his body but he needed to be smart. This was his roommate... if he were to do anything to compromise their relationship... they could be butting heads like petty rams. He leaned towards her and spoke with a hushed voice, "Shay... I..."
The woman was not stupid... she must've read his mind by interpreting his facial expressions. But, even as she says, "It's okay Drew." he could feel her pulling away and see the disappointment on her face.
He was so damn dull. He made out with her all the way to the bus and flaked out. It was the right thing to do... so why did he feel so shitty about it. Before he could think about it, his voice whispered out, "I'm sorry, Shay. You mean too much to me just to be some horny hookup."
His hand was still hooked around her leg to keep her from falling and he stared at it until her hand cupped his cheek. It tilted his head back and her lips were back on his... but weaker; gentler. It was a brief kiss and ended with a warm smile from her.
When they got off the bus, the urgency had all but died. They moved inside and got to their apartment ELLO door and moved inside. Neither said a word, but a heaviness was upon them. He stopped in the middle of the kitchen and living room to look down at his arms. Much like doing the right thing and stopping the whirlwind of desire... he regretted doing it.
He flicked his gaze up to seeing her stare at her arms, too... but it was her sad looking face that made his chest tighten. Was it really the right thing? It seems that rejecting her advances had just done the exact thing he was afraid having sex with her was going to do. He literally just met her. He thought not sticking his penis in her would be the right course. The stress of it all was building and his ears clogged as if back at the concert. He needed to break this or it was going to eat him alive, "Did I do the right thing?"
He saw her stop and looked back at him with shock. He took a few steps but not enough to get too close and let all his anxiety spill, "I thought that if we had sex that it would be detrimental to our roommate relationship. It would make it extremely awkward to be around one another if we engaged in intercourse, but it seems that my action to avoid that happening, happened anyways. Shay, I... mmm... what's the right answer, here?"
The dark haired woman took in his words and clarity seemed to bright up her face. She shook her head, "All that was floating in your brain and you still think you're dull..." He huffed a single laugh before watching her move only a step closer from on top of the ledge to their rooms, "The moment you saw me naked and didn't take advantage... I wanted to get to know you better. THEN you badgered me about deserving love and it was official... I needed you. You're smart. TOO smart, it seems. You're stuck inside yourself, but... you're not afraid to say what's on your mind. I CAN come on a little strong, so all of this was my fault... yet I won't apologize for it. Will having sex with me make things between us awkward? Yes, but only if we let it. I find you fascinating and my curiosity has been initiated. Do I hate you because you declined my advances? No." She stepped down the two steps and approached him slowly, "The only question, now, is... do you still want to have sex with me or do we need to slow down and get to know each other better?"
They were but a breath apart like they were back at the concert... so many thoughts buzzed in his mind at once, but her eyes kept him anchored in place. He cleared the distant and put a chaste kiss on her lips. She, happily, hummed in it as he felt her smile. He pulled away and with a mischievous look on his face whispered, "I really hope this paint comes off."
She looked down at their arms and back up with baffled look before he added, "We should take a shower to make sure." Her face cheered up, significantly, and she practically yanked him all the way to the door. Drew's thoughts were all a jumbled as they both plucked off clothes, but one thing was for certain... he was going to like it here.
