The weather was growing warmer. 2B opened the front door to an already dressed 9S.

"Where have you been, 2B? Surely you haven't forgotten what we're gonna do today?" 9S pouted.

"I went out for a jog as usual, and no, I haven't the foggiest idea," answered the android in question.

As per the routine, she filled Kainé's bowl with water. The dog had become her faithful exercise companion, often trotting slightly ahead, as though it were scoping out the ground before 2B treads them.

"Why are you so excited, by the way?" asked 2B as she approached the doorway to her room.

"We're going to the amusement park," reminded 9S with a slight tinge of frustration. "We're probably running late, thanks to you,"

"What do you mean? Look at the time,"

2B directed him to the clock hanging above the television. It read 07:45.

9S felt his cheeks burn. "Oh."

"There's plenty of time before 10 o' clock," said 2B, stifling a laugh.

"I swear, I'll get really angry if they're even a second late,"

"There, there, Devola. We're the ones who arrived early," consoled Popola. "Look, they're already here,"

The white-haired pair waved as they approached the sisters.

"I was going to leave you guys behind, you know," threatened Devola.

9S was amused. He knew they probably wouldn't do such a thing.

As they gained entrance to the amusement park, Devola squealed in delight. Never in a million years did she imagine she would have an opportunity to experience human entertainment. She believed she would remain an observer to the human world for all of eternity, side by side with her sister.

"I wonder if we'll be able to try every ride here," mused Popola.

9S shook his head. "The important thing today is for us to have as much fun as possible,"

Devola and 2B nodded their tacit agreement.

Tugging Popola's hand, 9S flashed her a big smile. "Come on, time's slipping away,"

The boy led the group to a roller coaster ride. He had no doubt been looking forward to this. To no surprise, the line was rather long.

Devola hesitated. "We're gonna ride this first?"

"Yeah, since we'll have to queue up for quite some time," answered 9S nonchalantly.

"I guess I'll have to stay behind to look after your stuff,"

"I can stay behind, Devola," offered her sister.

Devola shook her head vehemently, noting Popola's longing glances at the roller coaster. "No, you go on ahead. Have fun, you guys,"

As the trio left their belongings with her, Devola gulped, stealing a glimpse at the roller coaster, thinking, 'Are they programmed without the ability to feel fear? I mean, that thing even has a few loops! I won't even go if they paid me,'

Several minutes later, Devola recognised her friends from the crowd exiting the roller coaster.

"You should've come along with us, Devola. It was such an amazing experience," said 9S, "I can go for a second ride if you want company,"

"No!" exclaimed Devola a little too loudly. "I mean, I don't think we should keep the others waiting. There are other rides, after all,"

They tried a bumper car next. Popola constantly crashed into the boundary walls, seemingly unable to steer properly. 9S helped out by ramming into her multiple times, laughing in the process. In an effort to defend her sister, Devola in turn hit 9S's car. 2B spun around, bumping into both cars at once, which elicited a small car chase between Devola and her.

As the group searched for their next ride, Popola stuck something onto Devola's head. The latter instinctively reached for the object, feeling two soft and pointy protrusions.

"They're cat ears," explained Popola, sporting an identical accessory. "I thought they were cute, so I bought them for both of us,"

Devola nodded her thanks.

They wandered into an area reminiscent of the Wild West. Two groups of four may play a round of laser tag against each other. Outfitted with vests and laser guns, the four were sent into an arena. Barrels and faux plants riddled the area, providing cover.

"You have 30 seconds before the match begins," boomed the announcer.

The androids split up, waiting for the countdown to run out. 2B scoped out the opponents' approximate locations through her heightened senses. When the battle began, she hunted them down with relative ease. The quarry gasped in shock, unable to draw their guns in time to counter 2B's advance. 9S backed her up out of habit.

The match ended with the androids' overwhelming victory.

"That's quite a feat, 2B," commented Popola in awe.

"You're like a predator hunting its prey," added Devola.

"I don't think I could've done it without you guys and 9S," said 2B modestly, with a hint of a smile.

"I think you're fine without me. You didn't even get shot at all," said 9S. "Permission for me to hack into your system for the battle program, ma'am?" he added mischievously.

"No."

"Jeez, 2B. That's just a joke, you know,"

"Let's go have a snack," suggested Devola. She had been watching other park goers eating various types of food. Based on the satisfied looks on the people's faces, she surmised she has to try them herself.

Soon, 2B and Popola ate their crepes slowly, while Devola stuffed her face in cotton candy the shade of her hair. They sat on a bench overlooking a synthetic river, with boats cruising lazily downstream.

Munching on a hot dog, 9S said, "Slow down, Devola, or it might get stuck in your circuits. I won't be able to save you if that happens,

"Well, I hope you choke on your hot dog," replied Devola, belligerent.

"That's what she said," mumbled 9S, his mouth full.

When the androids finished their food, Popola suggested a boat ride. A gondolier welcomed them into the boat. 2B and 9S sat opposite the redheaded sisters. Their cruise was slow and soothing, a stark contrast to their previous attractions and rides. The four conversed about the school as well as their daily lives.

As they alighted from the boat, 9S spotted a photo booth. "Hey, why don't we take a commemorative photo?" said he.

Popola clapped her hands together. "That's a great idea,"

The androids selected some silly filters, striking poses as the camera shutters clicked.

The sky turned orange as dawn approached.

"Today was a fun day," said 2B, leaning by the bridge.

"Yeah, I hope we can do more of these together," replied 9S

"We still have a week's worth of holidays to look forward to," said Devola.

Just then, loud music blared as a procession of the amusement park's mascots marched and danced.

It was followed with a special performance for the park goers at the park square, thanking them for visiting. The show ended with a blast of confetti and fireworks. 2B was reminded of the jolly machines dancing at the abandoned amusement park. They would have enjoyed this place very much.

The sun spread its final glow before dipping into the horizon. The group gathered at the park entrance.

"Thanks for joining us today, 2B, 9S," said Popola.

"We should thank you for the park tickets," replied 2B.

"That was not much," replied the former with a smile.

"What are you going to do for the rest of the holiday?" 9S asked Devola.

"We don't have much of a plan yet, but we might do a study session at the library,

An idea popped into Popola's mind. "Why don't you visit our home? Anemone will be pleased to see you two,"

Devola nodded. "You two haven't visited us yet, so I don't see why not,"

"That sounds good. We'll drop by some time later," said 2B.

"Thanks for spending the day with. See you guys later," said 9S, waving at the sisters as they parted ways.

2B carefully slipped the photo into a sleeve, writing the date along with a short description of the day. Closing the photo album, she returned it to the bookshelf. She wondered how she should describe her day to 6O.

I don't really have much experience with amusement parks, so I hope this isn't too out of topic. Thanks for reading this chapter!
