Chapter Three: Quirk 3
Again, a more lighthearted chapter with Izuku and co. getting groovy with the new quirk in school.
Quirk: Electronica
The user's voice becomes autotuned, and not only that, they can create electronic music at will through hand movements and thoughts along with changing the environment to an extent for the music based on their emotions and thoughts. This includes sounds, voices, lights, etc.
Izuku wasn't one for crowds as he was surrounded by strangers and friends alike as they all stared at him quietly. He was doing his best to stay calm by focusing on eating his lunch consisting of fried rice, steamed dumplings, and a cup of water. That was proving to be difficult as some of the rice would drop to the plate because of his trembling hands from all the attention he was getting from his classmates while eating.
It seems that his day wasn't going to be peaceful in the slightest. Izuku sighed, the noise being unnatural due to a quirk that he suddenly had this morning. Ever since he first used it during a class break when he was quietly singing to himself, many of them wanted him to start singing songs and make music for them. He'd eventually relent and give in to their demands, and so that's why most, if not all, of his classmates were crowding him at the table he was sitting at.
The boy would eventually finish his meal, but before he could get up to throw away his trash and put away the tray, Denki volunteered to do it for him despite Midoriya's reluctance. Now, he sat there looking at all his classmates who looked back at him with the sounds of other students conversing in the cafeteria the only thing not making it so silent and awkward.
Izuku sighed, turning his attention to the classmate who had been pestering him the most about his new quirk – Mina Ashido.
"You get one song," said Izuku, watching the girl squealing happily while she was sitting down next to him. "So, what will it be?"
Mina would get her smartphone out and do whatever she needed with it before she would show him on its screen what she wanted him to perform for her. He quirked an eyebrow at her choice, then looked back to Mina shrugging her shoulders at him.
"Hey, with your voice, I thought it was only right that you'd sing this one for all of us," Mina said.
Izuku took the phone from her to look over the lyrics of the song she'd chosen for him, and he chuckled. "I always thought Jiro was the only one in class who knew old, obscure music."
His body trembled for a moment, and he glanced at Jiro staring at him seemingly menacingly but quietly. He nervously bowed slightly towards her. "I'm sorry!"
Mina laughed at his awkward apology towards her classmate and comforted him with pats on the back. "Ah, you can apologize to her properly with doing a song for us! Come on, Midoriya. We want to see you put that quirk of yours to work!"
Many of his classmates voiced their agreement, obviously wanting him to perform for them with his newfound quirk. Seeing how eager everyone was for him to use, he sighed but smiled. The only thing he was worried about at this point was causing a huge ruckus when he did sing, but that would be a worst-case scenario only, hopefully…
Getting his headphones, he connected them to her phone and played the music. As soon as it started, the lights in the cafeteria shut off and the windows blocked off threw almost everyone in a panic. Then came the stage lights that shined brightly in the darkness from the ceiling, the students becoming confused instead of frightened and worried. What really threw most students off was the sudden sound of music playing loudly for them to hear, the lights flashing in a dazzling array of colors along with the rhythm of the beat.
"One more time!"
Some at this point couldn't just help but to dance to the music being played, but most of Class 1-A was already doing just that as they crowded around Izuku as he was moving his hands as if he were a maestro conducting the music, which he was to an extent.
"One more time we're gonna celebrate!"
"Oh yeah, all right don't stop the dancing!"
"One more time we're gonna celebrate!"
"Oh yeah, all right don't stop the dancing!"
Everyone in the room was caught in the groove as they danced and sang along their worries and fears away. Mina was already breakdancing, having been consumed by the music with her body just moving with the beat while many of Class 1-A and even some other students crowded around her. They were all cheering her on, whooping and hollering as they too danced as if they were filled with boundless energy from the music. Not even Iida, Shoji, Todoroki, or even Tokoyami were spared from the music infecting them with excitement and enjoy themselves. The cafeteria was a place for dancing rather than eating now as students were enjoying the music through their bodies and minds.
"One more time you know I'm just feelin'"
"Celebration!"
"Tonight!"
"Celebrate!"
"Don't wait too late!"
"We don't stop, you can't stop!"
"We're gonna celebrate!"
"One more time. "
"One more time."
As the music seemed to slow down, letting everyone relax a little and get their breaths, most were just swaying like grass moving with the wind to the song. Many took off their school jackets just to cool down and not sweat anymore from the heat their bodies had from all their dancing and singing. It was getting hot in the cafeteria, but most just didn't care about the heat and just enjoyed the music.
"One more time a celebration! "
"You know we're gonna do it right! "
"Tonight, just feeling! "
"Music's got me feeling the need! "
"We're gonna celebrate! "
One more time. "
"Celebrate and dance so free. "
"Music's got me feeling so free! "
"Celebrate and dance so free! "
"One more time."
As the music started to get into its energetic groove, the room followed with it and started moving even more actively with it. Izuku was lost in his own world, hearing nothing else but the song and watching as those around him danced, sang, and enjoyed the music. As he was right now, he didn't even feel nervous in the slightest; he was just happy seeing so many of his classmates and others having so much fun.
"Music's got me feeling so free! "
"We're gonna celebrate! "
"Celebrate and dance so free! "
"One more time."
Just like from before, almost everyone in the cafeteria was in a dancing fever. It was like a music concert with how everyone was acting and the ambiance is that of joy and excitement. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, which meant as the song went away, so too did the colorful stage lights and the cafeteria lights turning back on with the windows no longer blocked. It was odd how quiet it was now compared to what it was like in the cafeteria less than ten minutes earlier with the music playing and everyone enjoying themselves.
But then came his classmates crowding him more than before, giving him praises for the performance that he had given. The confidence went away quickly, and the shyness and embarrassment came in just as fast.
"I-It was nothing, guys, really," Izuku said as he was continuously showered with praise. Truth be told, he never believed he had it in him to be able to do something like that in public until now. Never had he felt so happy doing something that was out of his element of-
"Midoriya…" A voice that he was all too familiar with made him stiff and froze him in place, cold sweat running down his neck as he had a bad feeling in his gut. While it may have sounded emotionless and not at the level of shouting, Izuku knew that wasn't the case at all.
The rest of his classmates went quiet too, and they parted to make room for their homeroom teacher to put his hand on Izuku's shoulder. The young man didn't want to look back, but his curiosity and fear of the unknown consequences of not facing his teacher won out, and when he saw the man's uneasy smile and started trembling.
"You and I are going to have a long conversation about using your quirk to make a ruckus on campus," the grasp on Izuku's shoulder gotten tighter. "Now."
Well, Midoriya had his lunch at least. It was a nice last meal.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I wasn't so sure how to better incorporate the song into the chapter, but I'll learn as I go I suppose. As for the song used for this chapter, it would be One More Time by Daft Punk
