Chapter 3:

On the way to the Pelipper Post Office, Roll showed me the different sights around the town, which was very helpful to learn about. There were some shops that you could shop at (Kecleon Wares), store your money at for safekeeping (Felicity Bank), a place to train yourself (Makuhita Dojo) a place to store your items at (Kangaskhan Storage), and a place that could help you learn to use moves back-to-back for a price (Gulpin's Link Shop).

We then got to Pelipper Post Office and Roll showed me the bulletin board, which had a lot of different jobs, all categorized by locations. "Since we're just starting out, we should take jobs from the locations that have F as their ranking. But over time, if we keep at it, we'll get the ability to do tougher jobs with more experience on our ends," Roll smiled.

"Sounds like a plan," I smiled as I took four different jobs from Thunderwave Cave. One was for finding a specific item, two were rescues, and one was an escort to find another Pokemon. And in order of what they were, I had to find a special seed called a Life Seed for a Vibrava, save a Rattata and a Teddiursa, and escort an Illumise to a Volbeat. "Okay, let's go do these rescue missions, Roll," I smirked, both of us going back to the house and down the path to Thunderwave Cave again, us going there and meeting up with Illumise on the way. We then proceeded through the dungeon again and I noticed that the electricity effects didn't jog my memory this time. Probably a one and done deal, I thought. We managed to level up a bit on our way through as well as get all the jobs completed quite easily. I even learned a move called Thundershock, which was electrical and had a chance to paralyze opponents, which I thought very handy.

After we finished the tasks, we then got back to town and got our rewards from the different Pokemon and I felt proud to have helped them all, since there were a lot of them. And then, soon after, Roll and I hit the sack and started to fall asleep... and it was then that I had a dream.

It was a very colorful room I was in, almost like it was the most dreamlike area I could be in... and after looking around a bit, I felt some kind of presence, me smiling at the familiarity of it. "Is that you... Gardevoir?" I asked, wondering if she could respond. All I could hear was one word.

"Yes..." she said. But before she could speak anymore, something happened that interrupted my dream as I could feel the whole place shaking. An earthquake was happening!

"Is this earthquake real? Is it happening in the real world? Or is someone trying to interfere with my dreams?" I asked aloud before the shaking eventually stopped and Gardevoir spoke again.

"It was real... Cher..." she said, me smiling at that. "I'm surprised you remembered me so quickly... but it looks like this dream is almost over... I can't speak anymore... time to wake up," Gardevoir said as she then disappeared and I felt my eyes open up again.

"Hello? We'd like a bit of help," I heard a voice say as I woke up from my sleeping position next to Roll. And I saw that no one was around. "You are Cher, correct? Of Team Snowfleece?" the voice asked again, me looking around in confusion.

"Who's talking? I can hear you, but I can't see you anywhere..." I frowned.

"Oh, how rude of us!" the voice said as a Pokemon then burst from the ground. A Pokemon that was called Dugtrio... but it was only then that I wondered how I knew all of these Pokemon's names and appearances despite me not having much of a memory to go off of. "Hello, we are Dugtrio! We need you to rescue our child, Diglett!" they said in just one voice as Roll then woke up to them talking.

"So what happened to Diglett?" I asked them.

"He was abducted by a vicious ruffian named Skarmory and taken to the summit of Mount Steel! You must teach that nasty ruffian a lesson and save our boy!" Dugtrio said.

"Done deal, we'll save your son, Dugtrio," I smiled, the Pokemon then burrowing underground again and me smiling at Roll.

"That was sudden, but at least we've got a job. Let's go and save Diglett!" Roll smirked, me smiling and nodding my head as we proceeded out to the area on our map that showed Mount Steel's location, it being a place that was very tall and very rocky. "Here we are, Mount Steel... according to the map, the summit is on floor 9. Let's get going!" We then proceeded up the mountain, finding a couple useful items such as Reviver Seeds and oran berries while also defeating a couple different enemies such as Spearow, Geodude, and Zigzagoon, but it also had some tougher enemies such as Beldum and Pinsir. But with mine and Roll's combined power, we managed to defeat almost all the enemies with ease.

When we finally did reach the summit of the mountain, we could see that Diglett was here, but there was a gigantic gap in between us and him in the form of a giant chasm. No way we'd be able to reach him on our own.

"Don't worry, Diglett! We're here to help!" I shouted to him.

"H-Help... I'm scared..." Diglett said while shaking as a loud screech could be heard and we then had a very big bird coated in steel come at us. Skarmory without a doubt.

"YOU! You dare to intrude upon my home?!" Skarmory exclaimed angrily.

"We're not intruding, we're here on a rescue mission. And as for who we are rescuing, it's that Diglett you kidnapped," I frowned at him.

"BAH! Stay out of my business! He and his ilk keep on digging underground and causing horrid earthquakes! I hate it, hate it, HATE IT!" Skarmory exclaimed, me growling as I then said something that I was surprised by.

"Just a single Dugtrio and one Diglett are not enough to make an Earthquake. If it were a whole armada of them doing it all at once, yes, there would be earthquakes, but just two is not enough to do that! It's the natural disasters that are to blame, not a couple of ground type Pokemon!" I said, me being surprised... how in the world did I know that? But I certainly didn't let it show.

"Peh! Stupid! You're going to pay for back-talking me!" Skarmory exclaimed as it then looked like it was ready to attack. But I quickly used an attack before he could. I used Thundershock and it managed to make the Skarmory not only hurt, but also get paralyzed as well!

"GAGH! You little... punk!" Skarmory growled as Roll then connected a Powder Snow to it, Skarmory then hissing as it then got defeated and gained swirly eyes. "I... give up..." he groaned afterwards before passing out.

"Okay... now for the real question. How to reach Diglett from across this chasm?" Roll asked. I thought a little bit at that before I suddenly got a memory flood back to me... or rather, a lot of memories! I suddenly remembered that I knew a whole lot about different Pokemon! Like, every single one in the book! And I then remembered something specific about electric types in general. I then started to emit electricity from my body and aimed it directly at my tail, creating a small beacon of electricity as I then sent shocks in communication. And after some effort, I eventually got the help I desired in the form of some of the Magnemite we had helped before.

"Bzzt! Hello, we came as soon as we heard the message. Bzzt!" Magnemite said, Roll looking at me in confusion and me smiling.

"Magnemites, we need a bit of help. We need to rescue that Diglett over this chasm, but it's too far a gap for us to jump across. Do you think you could help us out by using this badge next to him?" I asked the Magnemite brothers.

"Bzzt! Of course, leave it to us! Bzzt!" the other one said as Roll only then looked like she understood.

"Oh, now I got it! You used your electricity to call them from far off so they could help out! Genius!" Roll smiled at me.

"Yeah, I only just remembered something important... I know a lot about Pokemon," I smirked at her as the Magnemite then got Diglett out of the dungeon and then gave us back the badge for us to exit soon after, right at the entrance to the mountain.

"Whew! Thank you so much! I was so scared because we were up so high! I can still feel my feet tingling from the height," Diglett said, me smirking at that.

"Well, let's get you back to town so you can meet your dad again," I smiled at him, Diglett nodding at that as we then hiked back to the town and right back to the front of our house.

"Oh! You saved our son! Thank you!" said Dugtrio's voice from underground as they then appeared by the mailbox.

"Daddy! I'm so happy to see you!" Diglett said happily as I saw tears in his little eyes.

"There, there, son. It's okay now. Thank you ever so much, Team Snowfleece! Here, take these as a reward," Dugtrio smiled as he gave us some Reviver seeds, a Protein drink, and a payment of 800 gold.

"Thanks again!" Diglett smiled as the group then tunneled back underground and we looked at the Magnemite brothers who were still around.

"Bzzt! Well, we'd best take our leave now. Bzzt!" one said before I stopped them.

"Um, actually, I wanted to ask you guys if you'd like to join our Rescue Team," I said, the duo looking at me with their large eyes.

"Bzzt? You want us to join? Really? Bzzt?" the one asked.

"Well, yeah! If it weren't for you, that last mission would've been impossible for us to complete. So what do you say? You want to join us on future adventures?" I asked with a smile. The duo then deliberated between each other with electrical pulses before they then looked at us with happy eyes.

"Bzzt! Yes, we'd be happy to! We actually live in a Power Plant down this path here," they said pointing to the west of our area. "If you want us to come with you for a future adventure, just head down this path to the Power Plant and ask us. We'll be there to help you out if you need it," the duo smiled as they then went to the west and Roll smirked at me widely.

"That was also pretty smart, Cher! Now we have more members! I think that, starting tomorrow, we should go to Treasure Town the moment we wake up and get some jobs from Pelipper Post Office with those two Magnemite joining us!" Roll smiled.

"Exactly what I was thinking, partner," I smiled at her, since I saw it was nearing dusk. "You want to go inside and have some dinner?" I asked with a smirk.

"Yeah, I would," Roll giggled as we then rolled into her place and began to eat.
