Chapter two
Danny woke up. He felt terrible, his head was pounding and it felt like someone has been hitting it with a hammer for the past 24 hours. It was horrible. His neck was in an unbearable pain. He tried moving it but regretted it directly. He let out a growl, it hurt him like hell. He tried opening his eyes for a bit. When he did, the scene he saw in front of him was terrifying. He could see the airbag but what caught his attention was all the blood. The inside of his car was covered with it. Great, just what I want, he said to himself. He could barely feel his legs, they were stuck and he couldn't move them. Right then, he remembered that he was supposed to pick up Grace from Rachel's place. Oh god, Grace I'm so sorry. He doesn't even know how long it has been since the accident had occurred. He then lost all the energy left in him and his eyes went shut. I need to rest.. NO wake up, actually, just for a little. Danny went unconscious.
The Camaro was destroyed, completely destroyed. The van must've been driving at a speed of at least 100km/h. The collision was monstrous and very extreme. God knows what the driver was doing.

Steve had been in the offices alone for almost 15 minutes and decided to call it a day. He turned his laptop off and left his office. He couldn't wait to see Grace, he really missed her. Steve always appreciated Danny's invites whenever he had Grace, they made him feel special and part of the family in a way.
Steve was already on his way to his house with excitement written all over his face. Then, his phone rings and reads the caller ID, Sgt. Duke Lukela. That was pretty odd to him, he was off duty. Plus, he really didn't want to work on a case right now, he has plans with Grace and Danny. Great, what could go wrong, he thought to himself. He picked up the phone "McGarrett" Steve answered.
"Steve, it's Duke, something terrible just happened" replied Duke.
Steve noticed the worry in Duke's voice "What is it Duke? What's wrong?" Steve started worrying now. Many thoughts started coming to his mind. Is it Danny? Chin? Kono? He got extremely worried.
"It's Danny, Steve. He got into a car accident" said Duke. Fact of the matter is that Duke himself was really worried. He had become close with everyone at Five-0 and they were like ohana to him. When he saw the scene, he was pretty shocked, but scared too.
Steve panicked. Danny? Accident? Something terrible? "How bad is it Duke? How bad?!" said Steve. The concern and worry in his voice were very clear and evident.
"It's bad Steve, very bad" replied Duke. Gosh he hated delivering bad news to his friends like that.
Steve felt like all the air has been sucked out of his lungs. "Send me the location right now, I'm on my way" he said, frantically. He pressed on the accelerator and sped to the scene. He was scared. He couldn't think of anything or anyone except for Danny. All the what-ifs started coming to his mind but ignored them. Stay focused Steve, don't panic. How can he not panic, he thought to himself. His partner, his best friend, his brother, just got into a bad accident and could be fingertips away from possibly dying. But Steve couldn't even think of the last thought. No, no way, it's not happening. He felt the tears going down, Danny can't die, not today.
Steve broke all the traffic rules to get there. He imagined Danny sitting next to him yelling about his crazy driving. He could hear him. You Neanderthal animal! Don't you know how to drive?! I got a daughter okay, would you relax, Rambo?!.
Steve didn't know what was waiting for him. The words of Duke were repeating themselves in his mind, worry and concern increasing every second. The ride felt like an eternity, all he could think of is arriving to the scene and check on Danny, he was his top priority right now, nothing else. Gosh, he was so terrified of what was awaiting him. He doesn't know what Danny got himself into, but Duke's description of the incident was enough for him to have a picture painted in his head. He could picture blood, a massive wreckage, an unconscious Danny that could be- No! Don't go there, stay focused. The words "it's bad, very bad" and "something terrible" really scared him.
Ten minutes, that's how long it truly took Steve to arrive to the scene. He wasn't ready, he could already see HPD and the EMT's working and trying to save Danny. The sight of the Camaro frightened him even more. It was utterly demolished, broken, destroyed, he could see a bit of blood. There was glass everywhere on the street. Oh my god.
Steve got out of his truck. Running towards the scene, all he got think of was Danny. "Danny!" He got closer and closer. "Danny!". An HPD officer had to stop him.
"I'm sorry sir, HPD and EMT's are processing the scene, I need you to back away" said the officer, gently and respectfully.
"I'm Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett from Five-0, that's my partner in there, Detective Danny Williams, I have to go!" said Steve, the panic and concern in his shaky voice very clear. Sure, he was scared, but nothing was going to deprive him from seeing Danny, he's not gonna let that happen.
"I'm so sorry Commander, but I can't let you go in. The EMT's are doing everything they can to get your partner out of the car" replied the officer. He was given orders, he's just doing what he's been asked to do.
"I said let me in!" screamed Steve. He was getting tired of this guy. Who is he to deprive him from checking on Danny.
That scream caught Duke's attention, so he made his way to Steve. As he got there, he turned his attention to the officer, "it's okay, he's with Five-0, let him in". With that, the officer let Steve in and he ran to the Camaro, "Danny!" he said frantically.
"Sir, I need you to back away, we're trying to get him out of the car" said what seemed to be an EMT.
"That's my partner, Detective Williams, please, I wanna see him" answered Steve, begging the man to let him check on his best friend, his partner, his brother.
"I'm sorry, until we get him out of the car and make sure he's safe, I'm afraid I can't let you check on him", replied the EMT. Steve noticed the hint of sadness in his voice. Unfortunately, he had no choice but to accept that and wait.
From where he was standing, Steve could see a lot more blood, and the destruction was way more scary than how he'd seen it when he got out of his truck. Who's the bastard that did this to him?, said Steve, thinking to himself. He couldn't wait any longer, it was unbearable. He could see the EMT's working and trying to get Danny out of the car, but how long does he still have to wait?
Duke showed up, making his way to Steve. "Steve, I need to talk to you" he said. It looked like they had just found something out.
"What's wrong?" asked Steve.
"It looks like the person who hit Danny fled the scene. We just noticed tire prints next to the Camaro" said Duke.
"Alright, the driver couldn't have gone far away, his car must have some kind of damage. I need you to pull up all camera footage from the time the crash happened. If you manage to get a plate number, tell me. I'll call Chin and Kono and pitch them in. I want to make sure we find the bastard who did this to Danny" said Steve. There's no chance in hell he's letting this go.
"Copy that." With that, Duke made his way back to the other HPD officers and they all got to work.
Just moments later, Steve heard someone say something. It caught his attention. "Over here! We got him, we got him!". Steve instantly knew that they got Danny out of the car. He rushed to him. They had placed him on a stretcher and they were putting a neck brace on him. Steve was so scared, concerned and worried. That neck brace terrified him. Oh god no, he thought to himself. Danny was unconscious, and it looks like he suffered extreme injuries, he looked horrible.
"Danny! Danny, it's me, Steve, I'm right here buddy, I'm right here" said Steve, gently squeezing Danny's left arm. He didn't know if Danny even heard him, but talking to him made him feel in a way slightly better, at least he's with him. "How is he? Is it bad?" asked Steve, he needed to know.
He got his answer. EMT's were transporting him to the ambulance and he heard them, "heart rate is slow, pulse is weak, he's got high blood pressure, we need to get him to the hospital now!". Those words scared him. This couldn't be happening to Danny right now. He made his way to the ambulance. He had to be with Danny, he can't leave him alone. As he was climbing to the ambulance the EMT stopped him "I'm sorry commander, I know you want to be with him right now but we need all the space to work on him, we're transporting him to King's Medical Center, you can follow us. I apologize". With that, the EMT closed the back doors of the ambulance and it made its way to the hospital as Steve watched it go further, with his best friend, his partner, his brother, inside that ambulance, battling for his life.
He had to follow that ambulance, he needs to be there for Danny. But before that, he had to make a call. He pulled his cellphone out and dialed the third contact on his emergency contacts list.

Chin just got out of the shower and settled in to watch some television. He figured he could rest today, chill and watch some TV. Just then, his cellphone rang. The caller ID surprised him. Why would Steve call him, he was supposed to be at the movie theater with Grace and Danny. That could only mean one thing.
"Steve? Everything okay?" answered Chin as he pulled the phone up to his ear. Steve calling him was pretty odd considering his plans for the night, his gut told him something was wrong.
"Chin, something terrible just happened.. I… Chin I don't know if he's gonna make it" said the other voice. It sounded worried and concerned and shaky. Chin was confused but worried, who is he talking about, what just happened.
"Steve, relax okay? What's wrong? Who are you talking about boss?" he asked. He needed to know.
"Chin, it's Danny" replied Steve, with concern and terror in his voice. Please don't die Danny. Please don't die.
