Chapter 4:
After a hearty meal that night, I then had another dream that I felt I could see better. It was the same kind of area that the one dream was the night prior before the earthquake happened. A room with a lot of gorgeous lights as I then felt I could speak to Gardevoir... she was making her visage known, but I could barely make it out.
"Gardevoir..." I said with a smile.
"Cher... you're starting to remember more, I can tell," Gardevoir smiled.
"Yeah, I am... so, do you know anything about me when I was a human? Or about the cause of the natural disasters in this world?" I asked her.
"Mm... You were a very inquisitive human that, for some odd reason, already knew about Pokemon, despite your world having none of them," Gardevoir said, me gasping at that. How was that possible? "And as for the cause of the natural disasters... it is a part of the curse that has afflicted me... it's supposed to continue until an event that would threaten to destroy this world... but of what, I am uncertain... all I know is that it's going to happen sometime soon," Gardevoir said with a small, sad smile.
"I understand... I'll be careful about how to proceed as well as try to remember more," I smiled.
"Of course," Gardevoir said as she then left the dream and I then woke up, seeing that Roll was next to me and nudging me awake.
"Hey, Cher? You were mulling stuff in your sleep. You okay?" Roll asked.
"I had a dream and spoke to Gardevoir again... she said that I knew a lot about Pokemon when I was a human, despite my previous life not having any Pokemon in it at all... and the natural disasters are actually connected to the curse she got afflicted by," I explained.
"Sounds pretty interesting... so tell me, do you want to become a human again?" Roll asked.
"Honestly, it would be nice to become a human again, but... well, this place is pretty intriguing and I barely remember anything about my world at all. So I'd honestly prefer to answer that question when all my memories get back," I smiled at her.
"Wow, you're pretty wise to have that kind of mindset. Able to think. That's what a good leader has," Roll smiled at me, which made me blush a bit on my blue-colored cheeks. "Anyways, let's get going to Pelipper Post Office and get some more jobs. And we should also check the mailbox." I nodded at Roll's thinking process as we then went outside just in time to see Pelipper delivering some mail, both of us inspecting the mailbox to see that we had gotten a couple more newspapers and, get this, a job request! And this one was for Mount Steel, where it described that we had to save a Poliwag.
"Finally, we're getting some actual mail requests! Now let's go check Pelipper Post Office!" I smiled.
"Right behind ya, Cher," Roll smiled as I walked the whole way while she rolled, which I still thought was adorable. We then made it to the Post Office and we got a bunch of jobs for Mount Steel, us now having a total of 5 as well as me only then noticing that there was an added bonus to them.
"Oh, look at this, Roll!" I smiled, showing her something I saw. Some kind of points system.
"What's that?" she asked.
"Some kind of points system for when we complete jobs. The more we complete, the higher it will go. And the higher it goes, the bigger our rank and status gets!" I smirked widely, which Roll smiled at.
"Cool! Let's do as many jobs as we can to get our rank up, then!" Roll smiled.
"Too right," I smiled back at her as we then went back to town only to see some kind of commotion going on in the center. Some big Pokemon with a long pointy nose looked to be arguing with a Pokemon that looked like dandelions... it was a Shiftry and a Jumpluff.
"What's going on?" I asked the nearby Lombre.
"Jumpluff over there is trying to get that Shiftry's rescue team to help her rescue her friend, but his team is greedy and isn't willing to do the job for what's being offered," Lombre said, me frowning at that. And it was then that a trio of tough-looking Pokemon came from the west and looked at Shiftry with disappointment.
"Excuse me," said the one in the middle, him being a yellow Pokemon holding two spoons. Alakazam.
"Oh, what do you want?" Shiftry asked, obviously annoyed.
"Kind of cold, aren't you? All that is required for this job is a gust of wind. Your fans can do that very easily. It should be no problem for you. Now help this girl out, okay?" Alakazam asked, Shiftry frowning and then nodding.
"Tsk, okay, fine! We'll do it!" he said as he and his duo of Nuzleaf then rushed off down the path in an instant.
"Wow, Shiftry didn't even bat an eyelash to that Alakazam. He and his trio there must be pretty tough, huh?" I asked with a smile.
"You have no idea. Team IQ is their name and they're Gold Rank status as a rescue team," Lombre said as he then pointed out the different members. "The one with the wings is Charizard. His Flamethrower is said to have melted boulders... the tall green one is Tyranitar. He takes immense pride in his armored body and physical strength... and the leader, Alakazam, is a master at using his mind to attack foes. He's got an IQ of over 5000 and knows pretty much everything about anything," Lombre explained as Jumpluff then went to Alakazam with a smile.
"Thank you so much!" Jumpluff said with a smile.
"It was nothing. You and your friend deserve help just as much as anyone else," Alakazam said as he and his group then went past us on their way to the Post Office before Alakazam stopped in place and looked directly at me. "Hmm..." he said, looking right at me.
"What's up, boss?" Charizard asked.
"It's... It's fine. I thought I sensed something, but I'm not certain... come on, let's go," Alakazam said as he and the group went to the Post Office and I smiled at Roll.
"Come on, Roll. We have to work our tails off if we want to be as good a Rescue Team as Team IQ!" I smiled at her.
"Right! Let's get going!" Roll smiled as we then went off on our journey to Mount Steel once again for the different tasks at hand. We ended up going to Mount Steel and doing every job successfully. We ended up saving the Poliwag, rescuing a Beedrill, escorting an Umbreon to an Espeon, finding a Fire Stone for a Growlithe, and rescuing a Torkoal. We then got a lot of good items for our good day's work and then went back home, as it was nearing sundown again... and I had to admit, sleeping next to Roll all the time was actually very nice. She was very fluffy and soft, especially on those nights when it got really hot.
"I can feel your heart beating fast, Cher," Roll said, me gasping at that as we rested together.
"S-Sorry... it's just... it feels really nice sleeping with you," I said with a blush. Roll giggled at that.
"Are you developing a crush on me?" Roll asked, me blushing at that as I did feel my heart race at that. "I'll take your rapidly-beating heart as a yes," Roll smirked.
"S-So... what now?" I asked her.
"Well, to be honest, it's pretty cute that you'd develop a crush on me despite both of us being female," Roll said... and then I had another memory flood back to me.
"Well... I just remembered something... I'm a lesbian," I said, Roll being confused at that.
"What's that?" she asked.
"It's when a girl likes other girls in a romantic fashion," I smiled at her.
"Ah, I got it now... heehee! Well, I'd be happy to be your girlfriend if you want, so long as we stay professional on the job," Roll smiled at me.
"Yeah... that sounds lovely, Roll," I smiled at her as we then finally went to sleep and I felt my heart slow its beating after finally getting that weight lifted off of it. There were no dreams this time for some odd reason and I woke up the next morning with a yawn to see that Roll was still asleep for a change. I nudged her awake and she eventually got up with a smile.
"Ah... that was a good sleep," she smiled as she then snuggled with me and I giggled. "Ready to save more Pokemon today, Cher?" she asked with a smile.
"Of course," I smirked back at her as we went outside and saw that we had some visitors... and a couple of them looked creepy.
"Peh, is this the place where that Team Snowfleece lives?" asked the biggest of the group, him being completely purple and looking the nastiest of the bunch, especially with his vicious grin.
"Yes, this is the place. And you are?" I frowned at them.
"Heh, this place is nothing special, just as I thought. A bland location for a bland team," the snake-looking guy said, him being an Ekans and the nasty one being a Gengar. And then the Medicham of the group spoke.
"Oh my! Look! A mailbox!" he smiled as he rushed over to the mailbox and I gasped, as it had some mail in it and I frowned at them.
"HEY! Get away from our mailbox! I have half a mind to shock you with a Thunderwave if you don't step away from it right now!" I frowned at them angrily.
"Keheh, what's so wrong with a Rescue Team getting jobs from a mailbox? Besides, you're too wimpy to do anything about it," Gengar said with a sinister sneer, me frowning as I then proved my point and zapped Gengar with a Thunderwave and he hissed at how I managed to paralyze him, the other two gasping at that and them stepping away as Roll looked to be ready to attack herself.
"Get away from our mailbox or I'm freezing you solid," Roll said angrily.
"Keh... you're pretty mean yourself, huh?" Gengar asked. "We could always use more on Team Meanies! What do you say? Wanna help us take over the world?"
"You seriously think petty theft is going to help you achieve world domination? You're not very bright, are you, mister ghost boy?" I frowned as I then simply connected my body to him as I felt his paralysis would end soon. "Alright, when your paralysis ends, you either leave our place with haste, or I shock you again, but this time, with a Thundershock attack. Take your choice, petty thieves," I frowned at him. Gengar then started to stutter in his own unique way.
"Ugegegegegege... L-Let's beat it, Meanies!" Gengar said with worry as he then hightailed it out of the place with his two cronies following him closely behind.
"Good riddance!" Roll frowned as Pelipper came by soon after and gave us some mail, me smirking at that, seeing that the group did manage to take a couple letters.
"Thanks, Pelipper," I smiled at him.
"You're welcome, Miss Cher. Keep up the good work with those rescues. People are talking about you a lot recently," Pelipper smirked at me as he then flew off into the distance.
"Gonna be honest with you, Cher, I hope we don't see those nasty guys ever again," Roll frowned at me. "Oh, and you doing that? It was awesome!"
"Thanks, Roll. I'm not a fan of people doing things like they were, stealing from others and claiming to be going for world domination as an ultimate goal. Seriously, that line was freaking stupid," I smirked.
"Heehee! Agreed! Okay, let's go ahead and get our supplies stocked up and head out to our different jobs," Roll smiled, me and her doing exactly that.
