Chapter 5:

After doing some more jobs in an area called Oddity Cave and getting more experience and skills, Roll and I then went ahead and called it a day and went to bed... and for some odd reason, again, I had no dreams. I woke up the next morning with a yawn and Roll looked to wake up at the same time.

"Good morning, Roll," I smiled at her.

"Morning, Cher," she smiled back at me as I then went over to the door and went outside... only to see a face there that I didn't expect. It was the Caterpie that we had saved as our very first rescue, back when we first met.

"Oh, Caterpie? What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Well... I need help to save my friend, Metapod," he said, me tilting my head at that.

"What's the deal?" Roll asked.

"Well... we were going to play in the woods, but he got lost and I couldn't find him... I'm worried about him a lot... can you help?" Caterpie asked with big eyes... and then the trio of Team Meanies appeared out of nowhere.

"Keheh! Don't worry, Caterpie! We'll save your chum Metapod for ya," Gengar said, me frowning at him.

"Hey, Caterpie can speak for himself as to who he wants to help out and he chose us," I frowned at him.

"Keheh! You really think so? It doesn't matter who gets asked, just who can do the job! And amateurs like you aren't up for the task at hand. So, Caterpie, where do we head to and what's the reward?" Gengar asked with a wide grin.

"W-Well... it's Sinister Woods... but I don't have nay money..." Caterpie said with a sigh.

"It's alright, we can just get your mom to pay for you! And you can even join our Rescue Team! That's an offer you can't refuse! You got that, Snowfleece? First one to find Metapod gets the dough!" Gengar smirked as he and his group then laughed as they ran off down the path, me looking at Caterpie with a frown.

"Don't worry, Caterpie. We'll save Metapod for you. And if we succeed, you don't need to give us a single cent," I said to him.

"R-Really? Really and truly?" Caterpie asked, me nodding at that. "Okay! You go beat those mean guys and save my friend!" Caterpie smiled, me nodding at that.

"We're gonna need some extra help to get through these woods. Let's go get some help from the Pokemon we've been recruiting," Roll suggested, me smiling at that as we then went to the path to the west and got some help from our friends in Spearow and Aron, since we had a feeling we'd be facing off with a lot of bug and grass types in the forest. Also, we chose Aron to give us an edge if we ended up in a fight against Team Meanies, since he was immune and resistant to most of their group's attacks. We then made sure we were completely prepared and went off down the trail to the location in question, following the map to the place called Sinister Woods. Just the name was enough to send a shiver down your spine.

Our group then started our trek through the forest, seeing that it was a Mystery Dungeon and it had some pretty tough grass and bug types, as I expected. They included Ledyba, Oddish, Shroomish, and Scyther, among others. Each of them were no match for Roll's tough Powder Snow attack, which could cover an entire room to attack everyone that wasn't on our side, which was awesome. And this dungeon was by far the longest we'd traveled through yet, being over 10 floors long, which gave us plenty of time to add team members, such as Exeggutor, a Swinub, and Sudowoodo, which was very-well camouflaged into the scenery despite being rock type Pokemon.

And then, after all those floors, we finally got to the final area, it being a small clearing next to a couple of trees. "Looks like we're really deep in the forest. Let's see if we can find Metapod anywhere nearby," Roll said, me nodding at that before some pompous jackasses came from behind us and blocked us from going any further.

"Well well, we meet again," I frowned at them nonchalantly.

"Keke! You don't seem too bothered by us being here, do you?" Gengar frowned at me.

"Of course not. Besides, we're very deep in the woods here, away from prying ears. Perfect place to teach you bullies a lesson," I said with a smirk, Roll smiling at that.

"Yeah! You're not going to be blocking our way for long, because we're going to beat you!" Roll smiled.

"Peh! They're really annoying me, Gengar. Can we defeat them?" Medicham asked.

"Yes, we will! This is the end of the line, Team Snowfleece!" Gengar smirked wickedly as our group of Pokemon then started to attack, me sending a Thunderwave at Gengar to paralyze him, which he growled angrily at as Aron, Spearow, and Sudowoodo got to work at punishing him. Aron used Iron Head, Spearow used Peck, and Sudowoodo used Rock Throw, all of them combined making Gengar look pretty banged up. Roll then used her Powder Snow attack to attack the trio, managing to freeze Ekans in place and, after one more blow from Swinub using the same move, Gengar was the first to be knocked out, him groaning as he got the swirly eyes and we then looked at Medicham and Ekans with a smile, me seeing that they were pretty scared right now.

"Take this for hurting my friends!" Exeggutor said as he used the move Bullet Seed on Medicham, managing to hit him with all 5 his rounds, which made Medicham faint next, and Ekans then gulped and simply stayed in place, since he couldn't move a muscle in his frozen state. I then hit him with a Thundershock and, after another attack from Aron's Iron Head, it not only broke Ekans out of his frozen prison, but it also knocked him out last.

"M-Meanies..." Gengar groaned as he got up. "We gotta get outta here!" he exclaimed as he used his Rescue Team badge and all of his cronies and him escaped the dungeon immediately.

"Okay, that was awesome," Roll smiled.

"Yeah, great teamwork everyone!" I smirked happily as we then heard some rustling in the brush in front of us.

"Um... excuse me," said the voice of a Pokemon that came from the grass in front of us. It was a Metapod.

"Hey, you're Metapod, right?" I asked.

"Yes, that's me," he spoke.

"We need to get you back to town. Caterpie sent us to rescue you," Roll smiled.

"Whew, thanks! I was a bit scared from getting lost, so I just kept hardening my shell until someone could find me... alright, let's head back," Metapod said happily, me then using our Rescue Team badge and all of our group exiting the dungeon in an instant. We then proceeded back to town where we got to Caterpie and he looked super happy to see Metapod.

"Thanks, Cher and Roll! I'm so relieved to see Metapod's okay!" Caterpie smiled at us with wonder in his eyes again.

"You're welcome, Caterpie. And don't worry about giving us anything for this job. Beating up Team Meanies was more than enough payment after they tried to stop us in the forest," I smiled.

"Cool! You're even cooler than I thought! One day, when I grow up, I want to travel the world like you guys!" Caterpie smiled widely as I then smirked as I got another memory return to me. One that explained a bit about my past from before Gardevoir met up with me... apparently I was a part of a travelling circus and I was the master of the trapeze! And I saw a lot of different sights on my journeys, such as large mountainside villages, bustling city streets, and even to a place called the White House where I performed for someone called the President.

"Well, I'm sure you'd be great at that, Caterpie," I smirked at him as I then looked at Roll's house and smiled. "You know, I have an idea, Roll. Why don't we aim to make your house an official Rescue Team Base?" I smiled, Roll smirking widely at that.

"That sounds awesome!" she smiled at me.

"Yeah, all we'd need is to find enough manpower to do it," I smiled.

"Maybe one day," Roll smiled happily as we then looked at the setting sun and smiled. "You guys should get home before your parents worry about you, okay?"

"Okay! Thanks again, Roll and Cher!" Caterpie smiled at us as he and Metapod then went off to town and we then went into the house and we started to eat our dinner. We deserved it after a good day's work of saving Metapod and defeating Team Meanies.
