A/N Sorry for the wait, I was kind of busy. Anyways, here's chapter 7! This is a shorter chapter because it doesn't contain any major developments for the story, it's a follow up from the previous chapter. Also, thank you for reading!

Chapter Seven
Steve had been in this position and in that state, crying, and feeling helpless, for over 10 minutes. He felt like the whole world was going against him. He needed Danny, his rock, to wake up. He needed him to feel better. He needed him as his partner. When he told Stan that he was going to kill him if anything happens to Danny, he meant it. He would do anything for him. If he dies, the least he could do was avenge his death, he thought. But, for now, Steve had to put these thoughts aside and focus on Danny and when he would wake up. Another problem Steve had to face was to tell Rachel that the man she's been living with ever since her divorce with Danny, was behind this accident. He wondered how life became such a mess in a matter of almost 2 days.
A couple of minutes later, Steve composed himself, got up and made his way back to the hospital. He hoped that Stan learned his lesson. Steve is a man of his word, everything he said to Stan could happen. He wouldn't even hesitate for a second from killing him if Danny dies. He will do it. He tried to ignore the thoughts but they never seem to stop coming. Gosh Steven, get it together.
The ride back to the hospital was pretty much Steve thinking about these last 2 days, trying to ignore all the bad thoughts coming to him.
As he arrived, he went inside and made his way to the fifth floor, where Danny is at the moment.
He made his way to Danny's room, and was greeted by Chin. Steve looked like a mess. After all, he had a breakdown after his confrontation with Stan. He looked uncomfortable and didn't seem to be okay. Obviously, Chin instantly noticed that. He had to know what happened in HQ.
"Steve? Are you okay? What happened?" questioned Chin. He was worried about Steve and his gut told him that something had happened, something that allowed Steve to maybe lash out and have a breakdown.
"I'm fine, Chin. Stan and I had a little talk. I put him in his place and I made sure that he doesn't try and hurt anyone ever again. Don't worry, I took care of it" answered Steve. His voice was deeply serious but shaky. There was a hint of anger and sadness at the same time.
Chin felt uneasy after hearing his response. He must've done something. "Steve, what exactly did you do?" he asked, but calmly and gently, not wanting to provoke him.
Steve looked at Chin and furrowed his brow, he didn't understand why Chin was being so persistent and was insisting on knowing what happened in there. "I said I took care of it, Chin. He wasn't willing to talk at first, so I hit him, okay? Is that what you wanna hear? I also threatened to kill him if Danny doesn't make it. I told him I'll do it myself, without any hesitation. There, you want to know what happened between me and him, here, you got it." Steve then looked at Chin for a moment or two, then left, making his way to the bathroom, still angry and shaken up. He wanted to be alone, he doesn't want to be bothered by anyone.
Chin turned around and glanced at him. He knows Steve's hurting and shaken up by everything that's been happening. He just wants to offer some help, but with Steve's emotional state, it could be hard. He then sighed and sat down, waiting for Kono to get out of Danny's room.

Steve entered the bathroom. He had to be alone. He stood there, turned around to face the mirror, and placed both of his hands on the edge of the sink. He hadn't realized how hard his grip was, his knuckles were turning white. He just stood there, looking at himself, in the mirror. He wanted to compose himself. He fought the tears back. He looked so angry. He was also very vulnerable. He wanted Danny to wake up. He needs him to wake up. Danny being unconscious just doesn't seem right. What if he wakes up tomorrow. What if he'll need more time to wake up. What if Physical Therapy won't work out. What if he can't be my partner anymore. Steve hated this situation. What made him terrified was that neck disc the doctor talked about. He never imagined that Danny, or frankly, anyone from this task force, would be diagnosed with such thing. He knew the job had many consequences on each team member, but a disc, or maybe even paralysis, was not one of them, until now.
It took him some time to compose himself, but eventually he did. He took one last look at himself, sighed and left the bathroom.
Chin was sitting down, thinking about Steve, and Danny of course. But, something wasn't right with Steve. He never acted that way. The situation they're in is quite scary, but he never saw Steve like that, and it scared him. Just then, Kono got out of the room. She looked tired and still, very worried. They were taking turns, so that Danny wouldn't be left alone. Chin laid a comforting hand on Kono's shoulder.
As he was about to enter the room, he heard Steve's voice.
"Chin, wait" said Steve.
Chin turned around, and both men faced each other.
"Look, I'm sorry, again, about the way I acted. I just needed some time alone, to compose myself. I'm sorry Chin" voiced Steve. The apology seemed very genuine and he realized that his actions were a bit out of place.
"Don't worry, brah. I understand, really. I know how hard this is on you, on all of us. Don't worry about it" replied Chin with a soft, comforting and affectionate smile. He totally understood Steve's actions and gets where he's coming from. He himself was in that same exact state when his wife Malia died, so he knows that sometimes, people need to be left alone to deal with situations like these.
Steve nodded and tapped Chin's shoulder.
"Do you mind if I go in?" asked Steve. He figured he should go in and see him.
"Of course not" said Chin. Steve thanked him and made his to Danny's room.
He sat down on the chair by the bed, and looked at his friend. He still looked pale, not as much as this morning though. The ventilator was still there to assist his breathing. The IV pole still had fluids entering Danny's body, and the heart monitor was still beeping. The oxygen mask was also there. He looked so small and vulnerable, and Steve couldn't cope with that a 100%. He then put his hand on Danny's arm and spoke, "Hey buddy, you wanna know something? I took care of the guy who did this to you. I made sure he'd never come near you again. Now, I want you to wake up and be alright, because if you don't, I'm gonna have to go back to him and kill him myself, and I know that you hate it when I go crazy like that.'' He grinned at that last line. He hoped he was joking, but it was the truth. He went on, "You're safe now, Danny. It's all going to be okay. You can fight this Danny, I know it, you have to stay strong, and I'm here for you, I'm not going anywhere."
A/N Again, sorry for the short chapter, but I had to put it that way. Next chapter will be good though (I hope, you tell me if you're enjoying ;)). A lot of bromance coming though! Thanks for reading, and as always leave a review if you want:)
