Chapter 11:
We ended up sleeping well into 10 the next morning, me not having any dreams at all and waking up to see that Gengar was looking happy.
"Did she talk to you again, Genji?" I asked him.
"Yeah, she did... I apologized to her, like, five times, and she simply smiled at me and said that she didn't feel like I needed to apologize... because she was protecting me like she was trained to do," Genji said, me smiling at him.
"Yeah, Gardevoir, no matter who they are, all have a special bond with their human companions. Some even generate small singularities to protect their trainers," I smiled.
"How do you know so much about Pokemon?" Medicham asked.
"Well... it'd be difficult to explain... you may not believe a word of what I said, to be quite honest," I smirked.
"Cher, with you and Roll we were able to defeat Moltres, Articuno, and make it the whole way to the other side of the continent without wasting a single Reviver Seed. I think we'd believe anything you'd have to say," Ekans said, me smirking at that.
"Well, okay... one of my memories I've recovered since experiencing memory loss... it said that I know a whole lot about Pokemon, despite my world not having a single one," I said.
"Huh? How can that be?" Genji asked.
"Well, it's hard to explain, but in my world Pokemon was a series of video games, stuff you play for entertainment. I know every single Pokemon in the book by memory and, with the latest batch, there are now 890 different Pokemon," I smiled, the group gawking at that.
"890? All different species?" Roll asked in surprise.
"My words are the truth," I smirked at them.
"And we believe it, since we've been encountering Pokemon such as Lickilicky and Ambipom... when did they get revealed?" Ekans asked.
"In the 4th batch of Pokemon games, which is called Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum... but we should probably go get some stuff done now that we're fully rested," I smiled.
"Right. We need to go to the Post Office to disband Team Meanies... and then we'll join your Rescue Team soon after," Genji smiled.
"Okay, and we'll go to the Post Office as well for the Bulletin Board while also going through the town to get stocked up for the jobs ahead," I smirked. We then went outside of the house... only to find a very odd duo that were waiting for us outside.
"Um... hi, what's up?" I asked them, seeing that it was a Wynaut and a Wobbuffet.
"We wanted to ask you for some help," Wynaut said as his friend held his arm to his forehead and shouted one word.
"Wobbuffet!" he exclaimed, me smirking at that.
"Some bad Mankey have been beating up the denizens of our home, Uproar Forest... and we'd be happy if you could go there and teach them some manners," Wynaut said.
"Okay... I don't know where you're going with this, but taking care of some bullies is something that I've come to have an appreciation for... as these guys can attest to," I smiled at Genji and the others, them smiling awkwardly at that.
"Yeah... we did have a bit of squabbles in the past... ehe..." Genji said.
"But we're on good terms now," Medicham smirked.
"So you accept the job?" Wynaut asked.
"You bet," Roll smirked.
"Woooobbuffet!" Wobbuffet smirked widely, me smiling at his enthusiasm.
"We're going to go get our supplies stocked up for the journey ahead, if that's alright with you two," I smirked at them.
"Sure, just so you know, the forest is kinda small, so it won't take long at all to find the Mankey gang," Wynaut explained. We then went into the town and proceeded to stock up on supplies as well as get some of our different treasures sold in the ways of the gold ribbons we'd been collecting. We then went to the bank and took out our savings and then went to Kecleon Wares, where he smiled at me... though I could tell it was forced.
"Um... you look a little green, mister," I said, him sighing at that.
"I just... feel bad for thinking of you guys as criminals... you were just trying to help out that Genji guy, after all," he said.
"It's alright, you're fine. Besides, we wanted to buy a couple of TMs from you," I smirked, that getting his mood to turn to happy in a blink of an eye.
"Oh! Well, we always have fine wares to sell. What TMs do you want?" Kecleon Purple asked, me looking at his selection of TMs and picking a few that interested me.
"I think we'll take the Shock Wave... Ice Beam... Waterfall... Rock Slide and Signal Beam," I smirked.
"In total, that will cost you... 12,000 Poke," the Kecleon said, us forking over the money and still having 3000 left over. "Thanks, kids, and enjoy those powered-up moves," Kecleon smiled.
"Thanks and we will," I smiled at him as we then went to the bank and put back our money before the two of us then learned these new moves over some of our old ones. Roll learned Rock Slide over Powder Snow, Waterfall over Defense Curl, and Ice Beam over Icy Wind. Meanwhile, I learned Shock Wave over Thundershock and Signal Beam over Thunder Wave. I was definitely not going to give up my Cotton Spore or Body Slam attacks because they were too awesome when it came to attacking the Legendary Birds.
We then went back to our place and went down the path to the forest, which we looked on the map and immediately decided we'd use the ice teleporter that we got from Ninetails to save time. We warped directly over to the place's starting point and we smiled at how awesome we felt. "Now that we have this teleportation ice, we can go anywhere we want in the blink of an eye! Perfect for a Rescue Team!" Roll smiled.
"Agreed, it is awesome!" I smiled back at her as we then went into the Uproar Forest, as it was called, and came across a lot of Grass types such as Seedot, Nuzleaf, and Roselia, while also having the poisonous Venonat and the handy Aipom. We managed to recruit Venonat, Nuzleaf, and Roselia to the team while also finding a lot of other stuff like Apples as well as a special kind of nut that I recognized as a memory came back from my world.
"Huh... chestnuts... didn't think that the Pokemon world would have these things, but here we are," I smiled.
"From what I heard, chestnuts are very tasty, so long as you can get the spiky shell off of them," Roll smiled as we ended up getting 3 different nuts before we then got to a clearing that had three different Pokemon that looked like they were angered by our presence.
"What?! What are you looking at?! You want some of this?!" the one in the middle asked, me noting that they were the Mankey that were mentioned.
"Um... depends what you're referring to as 'this'," I frowned at them, the Mankey growling at my words.
"We get angered very easily, you bitch! Don't make us angry!" the other exclaimed.
"Listen, we just wanted to ask you to stop beating up everyone in the forest. Is that too much to ask?" I frowned at them. The Mankey trio screeched in anger at that and they immediately tried attacking me, which I dodged out of the way and frowned. "Alright, guess we do this the hard way," I frowned as I sent a Shockwave to the one Mankey and I found that our journey had really made me buffed up! Just a single Shockwave and it defeated the Mankey! And Roll then used Ice Beam on another Mankey, that making the 2nd Mankey fall over with swirly eyes. And then, every single one of my new teammates in Venonat, Nuzleaf, and Roselia used Psybeam, Leaf Blade, and Poison Jab, the combination of moves defeating the third Mankey easily!
"Alright! That's done and over with... sorry, guys, but people don't like getting beat up by you guys," I frowned at them as we then left the area with our ice crystal... only for us to be surprised by something surprising. The Mankey actually hitched a ride with us by grabbing hold of us, me gasping at that and getting them off my legs and going over to Wynaut and Wobbuffet, them being surprised by the fact that they came back, but they then saw they were pretty banged up.
"Um... odd choice to have them come back with you... via teleportation... but at least the Mankey are out of commission..." Wynaut said. "Anyways, this is your payment... sorry that it's not much, we don't really have any money, given how we live in the sticks," Wynaut said as they gave us a peeled chestnut, which I smiled at.
"Well... thanks for giving us something, anyways. I mean, it's not like we're greedy at all. Though it would be nice to recieve money, a peeled chestnut is still okay," I smiled. And when I said that, the Mankey immediately perked up with a gasp.
"P-Peeled chestnut?!" they all exclaimed at once, which ended up being the first thing to spook me yet! They then started to talk among themselves and then they looked at me with... happiness in their eyes. "Uh... hey, listen... do you think we could have that chestnut? We'll do anything as payment," the one Mankey smiled, me remembering that Mankey were pretty agitated about the littlest of things. Peeling open a spiky chestnut would probably get them angry from all the punctures in the skin.
"Okay, I have an idea of how we can work this out," I smiled as I then got into a little group huddle with everyone and Roll immediately liked my idea, as did Wynaut and Wobbuffet. "Alright, Mankey gang. How good are you when it comes to physical labor?" I asked, the group looking at me in confusion. "I mean, fighting types are awesome when it comes to lifting stuff up and building, so we wanted to know if you'd be willing to help upgrade our house to become a Rescue Team Base," I smirked. The group then spoke amongst each other again and nodded soon after.
"Okay! You got a deal! We'll bring in the supplies faster than anyone has before!" the one said, me smirking at that.
"Then it's set! Roll, you go grab Caterpie so he can help out with his silk! Wobbuffet and Wynaut, you get to work with the Mankey... and please be nice to them?" I smirked, the duo smiling at that.
"You bet!" Wynaut smiled.
"Wobbuffet!" the big guy smiled... which is then that I smirked and simply nodded my head.
"In the meantime, I'll go get some assistance from some of our other friends," I smirked as I went off to the Post Office and I looked back at the group. "No fighting while I'm gone, guys, or no chestnuts!" I smirked, the Mankey nodding at that as I simply left the one on the ground and the Mankey immediately went to it and shared it amongst each other, which was adorable. I managed to get to the Post Office to see that Genji, Medicham, and Ekans were all done there and they looked at me in confusion.
"Huh? What's with the big grin, Cher?" Genji asked.
"Well, we actually have some hired help to make our 'lame house' a proper Rescue Team Base! And since you were so kind to point out how drab it was, we thought you could be the interior designers!" I smirked, the group looking at me with worry before they then smiled widely at that.
"You know what? That's one of the best ideas I've heard you say! Alright, gang! Let's get to work!" Genji smiled widely.
"Naturally!" Medicham smirked while Ekans hissed happily. We then went back and went to work on the base immediately, us managing to make a lot of progress with our manpower in only five hours. After those five hours, the base was nearly completely finished except for one thing... and the Mankey had to do it, yet they simply sat down and wouldn't budge.
"What's up, guys?" I asked them.
"We don't feel motivated anymore... we're not really good fans of manual labor," the one Mankey said, me looking at Wynaut and Wobbuffet and going over to them and whispering some stuff, both of them smirking and nodding at that soon after. I then went over to the Mankey and held out the three chestnuts I'd gotten from the Uproar Forest and proceeded to peel them one by one, the group gawking at it and looking to get very chipper soon after. "But nevermind what we say, so long as we get chestnuts!" the one said happily afterwards.
"Well, we need to finish up the final task, which is putting the roof tiles on. And you guys are nimble and tough enough to do that job. You can have all three of these chestnuts so long as you do that job easily... then, when we're all done, Wynaut and Wobbuffet will live with you in the forest. And they will provide you with as many chestnuts as you want," I smirked.
"Really? Really and truly?! Alright, you lugs! Let's get to work! We can't turn down a deal that great!" the lead Mankey smiled widely.
"All that we ask in return is that you don't beat up everyone in the forest... or at the very least, keep it to a minimum," Wynaut smiled.
"Deal!" the Mankey smirked as I then gave them my chestnuts and they immediately got to work on finishing the roof tiles of the house, managing to complete the task in only an hour, just in time for sunset. And finally, the base was completed. An impressive base that was in the shape of Roll's whole body. The eyes were small windows at the top, the door was placed at the bottom of her tummy, and the house had the exact same colors as well.
"It's perfect! The Rescue Team Base of Team Snowfleece is finally completed!" I smiled widely and proudly, the Mankey looking a bit tuckered out after their hard work and me going over to them and smiling. "Thanks, Mankey gang. If it weren't for you guys, we'd never have gotten this job done," I smiled at them.
"You're welcome... hah... we're gonna need to rest a bit after that... you think you and Wobbuffet can carry us back to the forest, Wynaut?" the one Mankey asked, me smiling at the duo.
"Of course. After all, we're all friends now," Wynaut smiled as he placed his tail on one of the Mankey's and Wobbuffet carried one while putting his tail on another... and it was then that I saw that their tails were actually sticky and managed to pull them across the ground. "Goodbye, friends," Wynaut smiled at me.
"Wobbuffet!" the big lug smiled as well, me and our group smiling at the new house happily. "Time to go in and have some dinner. What do you guys say?" I smiled.
"I couldn't agree more!" Roll smiled, us all going into the house and getting ready to eat our well-earned meal.
