Each one of us is like that butterfly. And each tiny move towards a more positive mind-set can send ripples of positivity through our families and communities.

Haruhi stifled a sigh as she moved from the classroom to the cafeteria. Being at Ouran academy seemed very different from the public middle school she had been at before. The students seemed to have an energy around them that unless your family had millions, they just had no time for you. A clear example of this for Haruhi had been a set of twins in her class. They were clearly popular from the crowds of girls that flocked to them each day but they defiantly were not interested in anyone else.

Making her way into the large dining hall, Haruhi headed for one of the back tables that faced the rest of the hall. She placed her packed lunch onto the table in front of her and glanced around the hall. She could see her class slowly filling up other tables, whereas the seats in front of Haruhi stayed empty. Though Haruhi didn't mind this as much, it meant she had no distractions from learning what she needed for her future.

As she ate, a commotion came from the door near her and Tamaki Souh strutted into the room, once again surrounded by a group of girls and Kyouya Ootori. Haruhi had seen this particular group several times, the blonde boy seemed to constantly be around young woman calling them princess, Haruhi had to refrain several times from rolling her eyes at the absurdity of it all. The darker haired boy always seemed to have his notebook in hand, a crafty smile sometimes gracing his face.

Haruhi heard a small sniff behind her and looked to see a tall girl standing and looking down on her. Haruhi had seen the girl several times usually around Tamaki and knew she must be another groupie.

"I bet you'd love the attention that Tamaki is giving those girls. It's useless though. You'll always be a second class citizen" The girl brushed past her, joining the larger group and shooting one last look back. Haruhi stared down at her lunch and began to eat slowly. She had no desire to be fawned over by Souh, but she was intrigued by his one of his friends. Haruhi finished the last of lunch and left the hall, not noticing the dark eyes that watched her leave.

The next few days didn't get any better for Haruhi. The older girl, whose name she found out was Seika Ayarokoji, had taken an extreme disliking to her though she never made it too obvious. Haruhi had never heard the word Commoner hissed so much in her direction usually followed by a passive-aggressive suggestion of not belonging. Haruhi was determined not to let it affect her, never acknowledging or returning any remark and instead just walking away. However after trying to leave but remembering she had left her bag behind, she returned back to the class to find it empty and her bag missing.

She left the classroom and looked down the corridor to see Seika looking down out of a window. The older girl caught her eye, smirked and walked away. Haruhi waited until she had gone before going to the window and looking down. In a large pond, which somehow made sense in this extravagant school, was Haruhi's bag. The contents spilling out into the pond. Haruhi ran down the stairs, not noticing a figure stood a floor above her and ran to the pond. Her bag was conveniently right in the centre and there was no way that the girl could reach it without getting into the pond. She kicked her shoes and socks off and began to roll up her trousers, determined to get her bag before anyone came and saw what had happened. She waded to the centre and plucked the bag up first, some items were still in there, though she could see that some books and her money purse was missing. She threw her bag next to her shoes and began to pick up the books, keeping an eye out for the purse.

"Hey, why is your bag all wet?" Haruhi looked over her shoulder to find Tamaki stood at the edge of the pond watching her. She looked back down at the pond and replied

"Uh, it's no big deal. I got it. I just can't find my food money" Haruhi began to search again when she heard a small splash, she looked back up to see Tamaki searching the water too.

"Hey, you don't have to do that. You'll get wet" Tamaki smiled as he searched

"A little water never hurt anyone. Besides, people are always telling me that I'm dripping with good looks. Hang on a second, is this what you're looking for?" Tamaki straightened and held out a small black purse. Haruhi took it gently and bowed her head slightly before saying faintly

"Thank you" She watched as he got out of the pool and put his shoes back on and looked back up at the school. The smile slipped from his face for a second

"How did your bag get into the pond?" He asked quickly, his gaze still fixed up at the school

"Well uh, I guess I accidently dropped it out the window at some point" Haruhi watched as Tamaki nodded just once before he strode away, leaving Haruhi to wonder what on earth had just happened.

"I can't imagine what I would do if my bag fell into the pond" Haruhi stared at Seika, wondering how on earth she had run into this girl in a corridor and why on earth she was even talking to her.

"And you actually made Tamaki search that dirty old pond with you, how astonishing. You do realize he's a blue blood and not a commoner, right? Don't start thinking he cares about you" The older girl said with a self-righteous smirk. Haruhi frowned at those words before replying slowly

"Are you jealous?" The older girl lost her smile, her gaze beginning to darken before something behind Haruhi took her attention. Suddenly the older girl fell backwards, crying out

"No Haruhi, leave me alone" Haruhi stood shocked at what just happened when a hand came from behind her and Tamaki helped to lift Seika back to her feet.

The older girl began to tremble

"Do something Tamaki, Haruhi just assaulted me" Tamaki brushed a lock of hair behind her ear and smiled

"I'm disappointed in you. You threw his bag into the pond." The older girl gasped, letting go of Tamaki

"You know you're a beautiful girl, but you aren't classy enough to be our guest anymore" Seika stared at Tamaki and began to slowly back anyway from the pair of them. Haruhi stared up at Tamaki and bowed her head again.

"Thank you Sempai" Tamaki smiled down at her

"No need to thank me, though I may need you to return the favour soon" He began to walk away, leaving Haruhi to think that maybe Ouran wouldn't be as bad as she was starting to think.
