Chapter Two

Minato Namikaze huffed, staring down at the list on his desk silently. The teams in front of him were still waiting on his past student, unfortunately. He could feel the ANBU team's disgruntlement radiating off of them, making him sweat a little. Though he was the Hokage, something about Itachi Uchiha gave off an 'I will eat you' feeling that made him nervous.

"Tou-san. Can't you make sensei be on time for once? We're waiting around here to go see actual magic! I'm ready to leave him behind!" Naruto groaned, running a hand through his hair. The male Jounin beside him nodded in agreement, though his black eyes were bored. The pinkette rolled her jade eyes, adjusting the green vest she was wearing.

"You're such a child. Of course it's not real magic. It's just the same as chakra, but under a different name," the medic insisted, hands moving to her hips in agitation.

"Lady Sakura, please. Keep that opinion close to your chest. We do not know enough about this community to say what is what yet," Minato cautioned, making the woman flush.

"Yeah, your mentor will be pissed if you estrange an entire population that she can lose to in cards!" Naruto taunted, dodging as she swiped at him with a hand.

Minato rolled his eyes at their banter, wondering when his son would ever grow up. Though he was in his mid twenties, the Jounin was forever joking about, sometimes inappropriately. Thankfully, he was sending mostly serious ninja with his son-though nobody could keep the blond in line except for his red-headed mother.

Itachi was a close second to her though, and he was assigned to the mission as well. The ANBU captain terrified both father and son, but he had to admit that he was an extremely competent ninja. His teammates Anko Mitarashi and Shisui Uchiha were accompanying him as the leaders of the mission. The last team being sent were Shikamaru Nara, and Neji and Hinata Hyuuga. And, of course, the ever-late Kakashi Hatake.

Minato had specially chosen the ninja in this unit, knowing that the more physically talented individuals were going to be useless against something with long ranged capability like the 'magic' that Albus Dumbledore had warned him against. The blonde looked down at the umbrella sitting on his desk. He'd been warned that the 'porkey' would deploy at a very specific time, so, naturally, he'd told his student the time to arrive was five hours earlier. They had a few minutes left, and he was starting to worry that the man wouldn't make it in time.

"You packed everything on your list, right?" Minato asked Naruto, who flushed a little as he pouted at him.

"Yes," Naruto said simply, averting his cerulean eyes. The man beside him snorted.

"Oh yes. And a years worth of ramen, no doubt," Sasuke Uchiha muttered, wincing at the punch he allowed to land against his arm. If he'd dodged, it just would have started a struggle that they certainly didn't have time for right then.

"Yo. I see Sensei lied about the time yet again."

The group turned to the window, where Kakashi crouched with a smile behind his mask. Sakura considered sending him flying across the village, but realized that he would miss the mission completely if she did.

"Oh good. You're finally here. Now. Gather around the umbrella," Minato commanded. The ninja stared at him in confusion.

"Wait. A freaking umbrella? What's it going to do, float us there on a gust of wind?" Anko asked, her eyes narrowed as she stared at the innocent object.

"I was told that you should all try not to throw up."

Minutes later, the ninja were falling into a cold lake, the majority of them having to swim up to the surface. The ANBU among them managed to just barely catch themselves on the water's surface, but still ended up soaked as their companions splashed them. They all looked a bit ill, but soon recovered enough to walk across the lake calmly- at least, until Naruto spotted a giant squid swimming in the water under them, waving its tentacles in greeting.

"What the fuck?!"
