Chapter 6

Time went by after that incident, and as it was said, times heal everything. After that day, Levi and Eren's relationship got stronger; they were friends, best friends, something more? They didn't know as they didn't label it, they liked it to be what it wants to be without restraining their relationship to one category. Eren starts teaching Levi how to get over his PTSD of swimming, it was a hard time for both of them, but after a year of the incident, and they continued their second year in high school together. People still mistake them as a couple so they both took that to their advantage.

Levi and Erwin's relationship, on the other hand, didn't get better… nor did it get worse, they still say 'Hi' to each other if they saw each other, but that was it, that's where their relationship ends especially after Erwin left to college to study politics… just distant friends.

The Zoë family and the Ackermans become best friends you can say, if the Zoë weren't in the Ackermans' household then you will find the Ackermans in the Zoë's, the mothers of the teens became best friends talking about everything there is to talk about, the fathers, on the other hand, become a great buddies who liked to do everything a family man can do, unfortunately, they failed half of the times, making the mothers scold them every time that happened. The teens on the other hand became kinda unruly, with Mikasa becoming fourteen and wanting to be independent while still following Eren like a duckling and declaring him as her other brother, also with Hanji getting into a lot of problems with the teachers because she wanted to use the school labs more, and Levi who is slightly possessive when it comes to Eren, if he saw anyone trying to steal him… Eren's hands were full. Though the only good thing that happened in their second year of high school, it that Mike and Hanji start dating after he took her to prom when he graduated last year, so Eren can throw Hanji's problems at Mike with a light heart.

Eren also start encouraging Levi to sign up in the art club, and start drawing again, not so surprisingly the older teen aced the subject and was offered to participate in several galleries, the teen loved to paint and draw, he excels at it, but he also had a love for sculpting and had a good hands for it, Eren even made him a huge studio in the Ackerman's home with the help of Kuchel, they both agreed that it would be a wonderful birthday gift.

Their second year of high school wasn't that thing to crack about, they all did was study, and study, and beg Eren for help if they didn't understand a thing. And as always Eren was the first in their school, gaining prizes and recognition left and right, getting called a genius and being offered to graduate early and go study in one of the best colleges in the country… Eren refused. Which made everyone stunned, but the teen said that he was a fourteen years old student in the second year of high school, and he wanted to chill until he was forced to go into college, everyone was stunned at that but Levi was the most acceptant of his choice which warmed Eren's heart.

They all had fun every once in a while, and it seems that Eren was popular with people if he wanted or not, because Mikasa's friends had accepted the boy into their group, especially Annie, who seemed to have a slight crush, more of a hero worship actually, just because he beat her in karate and promise to teach her martial arts as she seemed to be all over it, she accept readily happy to have someone who accept her dream of becoming the best female fighter there is, it made Annie really happy that Eren was able to come and see her compete in several occasions, it was then that Eren gain the title of the 'Older brother' of the group, he was always there to help them, Levi was always by his side, so it was obvious that in the end, everyone will still on calling Eren 'Father' and Levi 'Mother' it was just to mess with the two of them and how close they always seem and because Eren is taller than Levi, but in the end the titles stuck.

Another thing that took a place with the two best friends, is that Eren grow taller than Levi and was still growing, it made Levi glared at Eren half of the times, and when he wasn't glaring he usually pout, Eren always laughed it off and kiss Levi on the cheek, which leads them to another point in their relationship, and that was their open affection with each other, they kiss, and hold hands, and do other things that couples do, but the two of them weren't even a couple, the two of them know about that, they just don't realize why other didn't see that and still mistake them for one, it made the two friends joke and do sickly sweet things just to infuriate their friends, though being mistake as couple saved them a lot of awkward situation like this one…

"Hey, gorgeous…" Someone called making Levi, who was sitting at his table in the café, he looked up, only to see blond hair man with a smirk looking at Levi, which made Levi let out a sigh through his nose and look at his watch, Eren should be here any minute now. "So I was wondering… you, me, date?" The man grins making Levi look at him like he was crazy if Levi had to say this was the most fucked up pick up line he ever heard in his life.

"I'm sorry… but I already have a boyfriend." Levi said returning to his sketchbook, hoping the man will get that he wasn't interesting, but no such luck as the man leaning on the table.

"Oh, then where is that 'Boyfriend' of yours darling?" The man cooed making Levi scowl at that and look at the man ready to give him the dress down of his life.

"Hey, Levi, hope I'm not late." Levi smiled as he heard Eren's voice, he turns toward Eren and waved for them, when the teen was near, he pulled him into a kiss, making Eren hum at that after they broke up. "You are going to make me want to be late, darling. Who's your friend over there?" Eren said turning to the man who was looking at the two of them with a red face of embarrassment.

"Oh, he just wanted to meet you, you know? Asked about you even, are you friends?" Levi said just to be a little shit; Eren turns to the other man only to find him already gone.

"You are a little shit, you know that right?" laughed Eren as he sat on his seat making Levi snort at that and shook his head. "So… how bad was he?" Eren asked getting a horror look from Levi making him snort. "That bad?" Eren asked hoping his friend at least found a pleasant thing about that oaf.

"The worst pick up line I heard in my life." Levi shivered to make Eren laugh at that and shook his head, muttering something under his breath. "Let's stop talking about him, tell me what you think of this?" Levi raised his sketchbook, making Eren grin at the painting he saw.

"Amazing as always," Eren said making Levi grin at him after the two of them ordered their food Eren turn to Levi. "Hey, did you receive the wedding invitation Erwin sent?" He asked thanking the waitress as she put their food in front of them.

Levi took a sip of his tea and hum at that. "Yeah, my family did, the wedding is in Italy so Mom took this as her chance to finally travel, and she pesters my father for a week before agreeing to go to the wedding," Levi said making Eren gave at Levi with amused look getting a grin from the other teen. "What about you? Are you going to Erwin's cousin's wedding?" Levi asked with an eye roll.

"Oh, yes. My Mom said she was thankful we received the invitation when the summer vacation starts, besides my Mom, had relatives in Italy, unfortunately, one of them passed away, so we had to go to Italy anyway, the funeral is the day after the wedding." Eren hummed as he sipped his tea.

"Wow, that's dark," Levi muttered after shaking himself from the shock he felt after hearing Eren's words.

"The nasty truth of life," Eren nods his head at that making Levi snort and turn to Eren to ask him about his plans for the summer vacation, the spent that afternoon planning.

In the end, the Ackermans and the Zoë agree to travel together on one of the Ackermans' private planes and will end up staying at one of the Zoë's country homes in Italy; all in all, it was fun. Eren as always was the center of the attention from both the teens and the adults, it made him grumble half of the time but he let it go, in the plane, the Levi and Eren were, as usual, sitting in their corner in the back of the plane (Everywhere they sit together is their corner, everyone in their families agreed on that) with Levi drawing as usual, and Eren reading a book, Levi would sometimes call Eren to ask him about his opinion, but in truth their corner was the quiet one. Hanji and Mikasa, on the other hand, were sitting in the front, talking about boys and makeup and every other thing a teenage girl could think of, though Hanji did advice Mikasa to stop putting too much makeup cause she was pretty without it, she also told her not to follow whatever new fashion her friends in school liked to try, Mikasa was pouting until Hanji told her why it made Mikasa pale and review her actions ever since she turned fourteen and start acting like a high scholar, she was thankful she was warned beforehand. As for the adults they were sitting in the middle talking about traveling and everything in between with Jenny telling Kuchel about Italy and the beautiful places there, and if she and Kenny would like, they could all go to Germany next month with the Zoë, as the Zoë had to go Germany to visit family and to attend the wedding of Jenny's brother, it made Kuchel squeal and threat Kenny that if they didn't go this instead she will throw him from the plane, needless to say, the Ackermans' teens were excited to be able to spend more time with the Zoë.

When their plane land in Italy, everyone was excited to finally get off of the plane and go to the Zoë's household in Italy, the car drive was long but the sights of Italy and her greenery was refreshing and amazing, Eren who was fluent in Italy was able to navigate them to the Zoë's house, which was a beautiful country house with a vineyard in the back. The boys end up sharing a room which was no trouble, so was the girls, their parent each got a room for their own, that day they spent it in the Zoë's house, chilling and enjoying the place, the teens spent it playing in the vineyard, well, more of eating the grapes they liked the most, but all in all it was a fun day.

The second day they spent it going around the village they were in, the Zoë were their guides since they were good in Italy, but not like Eren who mastered it so much that he was able to argue with the salesmen, to give him what they want in the local price, not the overpriced shit they sell to the tourists. They enjoyed their time there, and even Kenny told his wife he planned on buying a house here, it made Kuchel really happy, same with Levi who looked at every place they go to with amazing eyes, his fingers itching to draw the amazing sight he saw, Eren spent the time photographing everywhere they went, a new hobby he discovered that he liked, Mikasa was talking about how amazing the local artists were, and Hanji hummed and gave an offhanded comment to Eren about what kind of herbs to mix to make an explosion, Eren pause and answered her, making her laugh happily and that and bought them all, it made silent go around the market until the locals realized they were dealing with one of the Zoë's families… they were welcomed warmly because of that, it seems that the Zoë that they were housesat for them were quite popular in here, considered that they were family of doctors who helped the villagers time and time again, they were even happy to hear that Han was a doctor himself.

A week later from their arrival, everyone got ready to leave the house and go to the other town to attend the wedding they were invited to, Erwin met them there and took them to the mansion where the wedding was going to take a place, it was a traditional wedding mix with modern, everything was great, Eren met a lot of interesting people, and few of the bride's family… Eren was a little bit concern as he saw the bride's mother looking at him and muttering how her daughter should marry him, not that Smith. When he told Levi that, the teen laugh and put his arms around Eren's neck cooing to him, everyone was looking at the two, which made Eren smile and wave to them, it ends up with Eren and Levi laughing quietly between themselves at the stunned faces. Everything was good… until Erwin was assigned to give the speech and break the vase (the number of shattered pieces predicted the number of years of married bliss) no matter what Erwin did… the vase wouldn't break.

Silence fell on the room… it made Levi uncomfortable as he looked at Eren pulling him closer. "Hey, is breaking that vase really that important?" Levi whispered as he saw the crowd gasps in horror as Erwin failed for the third time to break the vase.

"Yeah… it is." Eren muttered and wince as he heard the bride's mother scream about how her daughter shouldn't have married a Smith, the poor woman was sobbing and her mascara was running everywhere. "You know, half of the attendants are gypsies so expect someone to get cursed by the end of the night," Eren said offhanded, making Levi nearly faint and clutch his hand.

"Oh, dear lord…" Levi muttered gazing at Hanji who looked kinda nervous, looking around the room keeping Mikasa near her, which by itself was a warning sign, because Hanji doesn't get nervous, she laughed at the face of explosions, and for her to be nervous in here, tells him how serious it is. "I just wanted you to know, that if something happened to me by the end of this, delete my browsing history," Levi said making Eren pause and laugh at that.

"Fuck this!" Eren said as Erwin failed for the umpteenth time, he was getting scold by his father, for not being able to breathe the vase, Eren march toward Erwin and took the vase from his hands, throwing it at the wall, making it shatter into a lot of tiny pieces, Eren said something in Italian making the attendants pause then cheers happily, the groom even hugged Eren tightly thanking him for the saving.

"My hero!" Levi called out when Eren arrived, making the teen laugh at that, and accept the hug Levi gave him. "I will do anything for you; you saved me from turning into a frog!" Levi cooed, making Eren laugh at that and push Levi to ruffle his hair getting a squeak out of the teen. "By the way, what did you tell them?" Levi asked making Eren pause a little and grin.

"You have to know yourself?" Eren said making Levi shook his head and push him, laughing all the while, ignoring Erwin's growls and glares at the two.

All in all, it was a good wedding, especially when Levi was the one who caught the flower the bride throw, and he wasn't even trying. He was talking with Eren about this and that, when Eren pause and told him to turn around, Levi did, only to squeak as he saw something sailing toward his face, Levi catch it in time, and when he lowered it, he saw it was the bride's bouquet, everyone became silent, it was only broken by Eren's laughter making Levi turn to him with red face, it became redder, when Eren kissed Levi's cheek and the audience cheer loudly at that, Hanji even asked them when was the wedding, with Mikasa cheering about Eren finally becoming her brother, and that she totally going to send the picture of Levi holding the flowers and getting a kiss from Eren to Armin… she did, with a caption…

Soon to be married…

The next day the Zoë, prepared to go to the funeral, they even invited the Ackermans to come with them, after lots of thinking on the Ackermans' side, it was agreed that Kenny and Mikasa will stay home, while Levi and Kuchel will go to Uncle Rob's funeral. Someone Eren hasn't heard about until today, what a shame? Anyway, when they reached the funeral, the Zoë, where greeted by a lot of people who Eren didn't even know, Hanji told him that they all were family, Han and Jenny even introduce him as their son, the strange thing, is that everyone know who he was, it would have been scary if they hadn't been the Zoë.

So everyone took a seat, and the funeral started, Levi couldn't help but notice that there was no child in sight, I mean none, everyone was there was fifteen years old and up, it made Levi kind of concern and he leans on Eren closely.

It was until the family went to the deceased to give him the final goodbyes that Levi knew why, it was that day Levi knew, all the Zoë were insane and Eren was the only sane one.

So when the youngest daughter of the deceased, a twenty-four years old, went to say her goodbyes, she stopped a little and turned to the crown, pulling the bouquet out of her dead father's hands, which made both Kuchel and Levi gasp in horror at the action, but the girl just smiled and throw the bouquet at the crowd, like the bride did last night, it would have smacked a terrified Kuchel in the face, if it wasn't for Eren who sitting next to her.

Eren catches the bouquet, and just as he took a hold of it, every person in the church turn to Eren with a smile on their faces and pointed their fingers at him, like everyone was in some kind of horror movie. "You're gonna die next!" They started chanting over and over, making Levi nearly faint at that, but Eren's snort at them and shook the bouquet making them all laugh.

"W-what was that about?" Levi asked shakily holding into Eren tightly, his mother was doing a good job of acting like a fish out of the water, she turned to Eren hoping for some kind of explanation.

"A Zoë tradition," Eren stated as he put the flowers down making Levi look at them like they were a plague or something. "The youngest child of the deceased is to always throw the bouquet of the deceased at the crowd, says it was to know who was going to be the next to follow the deceased. Why do you think there was no one under fifteen? The experience can be kinda traumatic to some." Eren shook his head at that and snort making Kuchel and Levi look at each other with terrified looks.

"What's the chance of that actually happening?" Kuchel said shakily, afraid from the answer Eren was going to give, as for Eren he pauses a little.

"A fifty-fifty chance, why?" Eren asked making Kuchel lean on her seat or she was going to faint, that day Levi and Kuchel knew the Zoë were crazies, but they were smart crazies, they even shook on it. If they watched Eren like hawks until he went to college?

No one needs to know…

The rest of their stay at Italy was not that much traumatizing, everyone actually enjoy it, the Ackermans and the Zoë rented a van and they went on a road trip all around Italy, they visited museums, and art shops (Eren and Levi), went to the vineyard to taste wine (The adults) went shopping and nearly blow a lot of stores (Mikasa and Hanji), all in all they had fun in their three weeks in Italy. Kenny even said that it would be fun traveling to another country next year, it made Kuchel look at him as a hero, and if Kenny's ego grows at that? No one mentions it.

Everyone's next trip was to Germany, the homeland of the Zoë to attend the wedding of Jenny's brother Johann; it made Jenny really excited to see her brother and introducing him to Eren. Because let's face it, Eren wasn't in the best place to meet people when he was adopted by the Zoë family, but after three years with them, he was ready to meet the rest of the family, who seemed too excited to meet him.

Anyway they arrived in Germany to see Johann waiting for them with a big sign, saying 'Welcome home sis!' the man was talk and build, with dark brown hair and boyish features, as soon as he meets his sister the two of them hugged each other tightly, and Jenny even cried! He ends up punching Han in the shoulder scolding him for stealing his sister and her kids away from home, Hanji on the other hand squeal as she saw her uncle and hugged him tightly making Johann laugh at that and comment on how big she becomes. When the man reached Eren, the teen waved and smiled nervously as this was the first time for him meeting the man, but the older man just grins and pulled him into a hug telling him how happy he was for finally meeting his sister's genius son.

The wedding was in two days, so everything was in a rush when they reached Johann's house, they even met the bride, but Eren said he doesn't like her, Levi had to agree especially when she acted like everyone should be grateful that she took a little time off of her busy schedule to entertain them.

The day of the wedding everything was hectic, especially with the Zoë's side, you could see the Zoë talking between themselves and putting bets on the wedding, the Ackermans were shocked at first, but Kenny being the combative bastard he was (Kuchel's words) bet on the bride running away with the groom's best man, everyone in the Zoë laughed at that and clap him on the back, even Kuchel bet on the bride getting cold feet and calling it off, mainly because she didn't like her, she was still shocked how a sweet man like Johann got stuck with someone like her, even the teens put their bets on, everyone was looking at Eren like he was insane when he bet on the groom leaving the bride for the priest, he was the only one who put that bet, Hell! Even some of the bride's family put their bets, especially her brothers.

So now was the moment, the groom was fidgeting nervously, the music started and the bride walked down the aisle with her father, making few groans at that and muttering, which made the bride scowl and throw them a glare, everyone was sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for who was calling this fart of a wedding off.

Eren noticed how the priest looked at the groom and gave him a sad smile, as they continuing with their vows, Eren smirked, it seems he won. "Wait!" The groom called out, making the hall fall silent, the Zoë's family, on the other hand, wants to scream and cheer, now is the moment of the truth! "I can't do this anymore, look, Mina, I am sorry but I don't love you." The sound of gasps could be heard all around the hall, and the bride looked shell shocked at that.

"What?" She screamed throwing her bouquet on the floor, making everyone in the hall wince at her shrill voice. "How could you say such a thing? Who is she?" The bride fumed making the groom's eye twitch at that.

"Him," The groom said with a sign pointing to the priest who squeak in shock, the room was silent, it was only broken by the sound of Eren's laughing. That broke everyone out of their shock, and Eren could hear everyone in the Zoë's family groan in dismay at losing to a brat, Eren heard Levi giggling beside him, so he took it as a win.

"Him?" The bride screamed once more after getting over her shock, she then growled at the groom who was looking at her with a bored look. "You bitch! How could you do this to me? You couldn't even keep your dick in your pants!" She screamed making Johann roll his eyes at that.

"I wasn't the one who banged my best man, and cheated on my fiancé, it's not my fault that you are a whore." That got more gasps from the room and Kuchel was watching all of this, muttering about this being better than the drama series she watches at home… everyone agreed with her.

That made the bride's face turn red, and she looked at Johann then at the best man who was fidgeting and wasn't looking anyone in the eye. That made the woman yells and screams, but she was pulled away by her brothers who gave the groom thumps up for being smart and saving himself from the headache that was going to be his life.

"You brat! How did you know Johann was in love with the priest?" Kenny asked making the hall fell silent as they waited for Eren to tell them.

Eren rolled his eyes at that and snort. "First of all, the priest in question is not actually a priest, he is Uncle Johann's best friend, the bride decided to be a bitch and plead with him to marry her to Uncle Johann because she knows he was in love with him… I heard her say that to her maid of honor." Eren said with a grin, making the rest become stunned at that.

"You do?" Johann asked looking at his friend, who fidgets a little, and then sigh and nod, making Johann grin and hug his friend tightly and start kissing him. That made the Zoë's family (More of a clan really) stand on its feet and clap to the new couple.

"Is all the Zoë's wedding that dramatic?" Levi asked after the room fell silent making Jenny laugh at that.

"Oh, you haven't seen anything dear." She said while giggling looking at Han who had a blush on his cheeks. "On the day of my wedding, Han crash the wedding and knocking the groom declaring his undying love for me, we were best friends before that, and I was also in love with him, it ends with the two of us eloping and gets married in the next town, he even changed his last name to Zoë for me," Jenny said making Kuchel and Mikasa awe at that, Kenny clapped Han on the back laughing, as for Levi and Eren they looked at Han with narrow eyes, not believing for a second that a gentle person like Han will do something like that.

"Eren!" The sound of Johann, made everyone turn to him, he was walking with his new lover who had a blush on his face, and normal clothes for a change. "Thanks for the information up there kid, really need it. Oh, and this is Aton by the way." Johann said grinning happily pointing at his lover who gave them a shy smile and a wave.

"Zoë." The man muttered and smiled happily giving Eren an envelope. "We decided to be the ones to give you the money you won, as a thank you for being the only one who bet on us." He said with a wink making Eren grin at that.

"Oh! How much did Eren won?" Hanji asked with curiosity making the couple paused and then grin at that like maniacs.

"Ten million dollars." They both said making the group froze at that. They all turn to Eren who was looking at the cheque in his hands with a blank look, Levi was beside him with his face was full of shock.

"Well, at least I don't need to worry about our wedding, right Levi." Eren joked making Levi blink at that then snort punching Eren on the shoulder with a red face, which broke the silence and made everyone laugh at that shaking their heads at the teens. Eren grin at that…

This year was fun…
