I
Am the eye of the storm

Inside
I am silent and strong
Just waitin for the right right moment to strike
Coiled like a cobra

(Eye Of The Storm, Watt White)

Everything was fine. All was well. At least it was, the calm before the storm. An unexpected event threw them, they were stuck, no way out, the way in gone. But we should start where everything starts, at the beginning.

All was normal in the Avengers tower, Thor was eating pop tarts, Loki was reading, Steve and Bucky were sparring in the gym, Clint and Natasha were chilling in the living room and Tony and Bruce were in the lab. Suddenly the peace was broken by JARVIS. "Avengers, there is an attack downtown," he informed them. Everyone gathered in the living room.

"Who is it JARVIS?" Tony asked.

"We do not know yet sir, they haven't been seen here on Earth before," he replied.

"Avengers suit up, we can't let this attack continue," Steve said before he left to fetch his shield.

"JARVIS, show me any footage you can of this threat, I want to know what we are up against," Tony said.

"Certainly sir," JARVIS replied. he brought up CCTV footage of the attack. Although the footage was blurry, through the smoke a figure was visible. Noticing the camera, he let out a pulse of purple energy and the footage went black. 'well at least we have an idea of what we are up against, a magic wielder, Loki should be able to deal with him quite quickly,' Tony thought. He tapped the silver bracelets on his wrists and his suit came flying towards him, before it assembled itself piece by piece on his body. As the faceplate snapped down, he flew out of the tower and downtown, following the huge black quinjet above.

Within minutes they were at the scene. Cars lay overturned on their sides; small fires were littered across the street. Buildings had huge chunks missing from them, and all the windows were shattered. "Careful, he is a magic user, we don't know exactly what he is capable of or why he is here," Tony warned them as they approached the attacker. Noticing them, he whipped round. He stood there unmoving, as if he was analysing the situation. Now they had a clear view of what he looked like. He wore a dark blue leather jacket which he left undone, underneath he wore a white top and worn jeans. He would have looked completely normal, if it wasn't for the golden dragon mask he wore. It was intricately decorated with glowing green eyes. He was still stood there, neither side made a move until Steve stepped forward.

"Who are you, and what do you want from us?" he said. The attacker began to move forward. This was when Tony stepped forward.

"Not another step Voldemort," he said igniting his blasters. The attacker stopped and chuckled lowly.

"You think you are a match for me mortal, you may be Earths mightiest heroes, but you ain't faced anyone like me before," he said.

"Want to bet, we have two Gods, two super soldiers, two assassins, a green rage monster and me, who do you have?" Tony taunted.

"You'll see," was the attackers reply, he began to gather purple mist in his hands. Steve quickly stepped forwards and pushed Tony back slightly.

"We aren't challenging you; we don't want to fight that is our last resort, what do you want?" he asked. The attacker stopped gathering the mist.

"I came here for the God stood behind you," he said pointing at Loki, "Hand him over, and you may live, refuse and you will die, but not by my hand." Thor had had enough of this. He tightened his grip on Mjolnir.

"You listen well invader of Midgard, you shall not take my brother," he shouted, before he threw his hammer at the attacker. With inhuman speed he moved out of the way. Using this same speed, he moved towards the group, who had made the mistake of standing together. He opened up a space rift above them.

"Before you all die, I thought I'd answer your first question," he whispered in Steve's ear making him jump, "The name's Rift, enjoy your impending doom." With that, the whole team was sucked up into the rift. It was like the Bifrost, only it was trying to rip them away from each other. Shooting out grappling hooks, Tony grabbed the whole team and kept them together. Snarling in annoyance, Rift shot ahead, riding the rift he had created, he knew they wouldn't survive where they were going, then he could take what he rightfully owned off of Loki's dead body. After what felt like hours, they saw the light of a sun ahead. They were roughly dropped on the ground of a strange place.

"Where the hell are we?" Tony said as his face plate snapped back.

"I don't know, but it's not Earth," Steve replied. they looked around them, they were in a strange rocky world. The sky was a weird greeny-blue colour, while the earth was a dull rusty orange. The terrain was hilly and jagged, there was no trees, no grass, no flowers and no water. How could anyone or anything live here, across the terrain, small buildings were scattered nearby a huge crumbling castle. There had been people here, but something had happened, something dreadful. "We need to find shelter, we don't know where we are, or what this place is like when it gets dark," Steve said, taking control of the situation. Everyone nodded in agreement.

"I say we go to that castle like building and stay there," Tony proposed, while his suit folded itself up into a small carry case. No-one else had any ideas of where to say, so they all agreed and set off towards the castle. It was further than it looked, but parts of it were still in good condition. Everyone but Tony sat down. Instead of sitting down, he left the castle, put on one of the gauntlets of his suit and smashed his fist as hard as he could into the ground.

"What the hell are you doing," Steve said in shock.

"Water," tony replied, as a clear liquid flowed to the surface.

"Is it even drinkable?" Steve said crossing his arms.

"JARVIS, analyse the water," Tony said.

"Sir the water is perfectly drinkable, but take caution, it is slightly more acidic than normal water, so don't consume large quantities at a time," JARVIS responded.

"See water," Tony said to Steve. Steve sighed, why did Tony always have to be like this. He turned and walked back inside the castle. As night fell, everyone came into one area of the castle and set it up for sleeping, not that there was much to do. They all sat awake for a while chatting. Natasha lay her head on Clint's shoulder; she was the first to fall asleep. Clint put his arm around her protectively and fell asleep as well, it didn't take long, before everyone was asleep. The night dragged on, and shadows scuttled around outside, unaware the Avengers sleeping nearby, but one shadow was aware it knew what it had to do, but for now it just had to wait.
