Watt White Eye Of The Storm

It was light when they all began to stir, the rocky terrain was bathed in light from an unknown source there was no visible sun, but yet there was light, this was a truly strange place. "Right then," Steve said, "We should try and get some bearings, we need to know if there is anyone nearby who can tell us where we are, we need to know where we can get food, and we need to stay alert while doing this, just because we can see danger, doesn't mean there isn't danger." Everyone nodded in agreement. As they all got ready to head off and explore, Thor approached Loki, he was hoping for answers, every time he had asked so far, he had been ignored, or the subject had been changed.

"Loki, we need to talk," he said firmly.

"No, we don't, I have told you every time you have come to me, I don't have tell you about this, it is personal and you don't need to know," Loki snarled, he knew what Thor was going to say.

"Yes, we do, Rift has dragged us all here, because we protected you, because we wouldn't surrender you, so I think we have a right to know," Thor said angrily.

"Oh, so it's my fault now, I would have been fine, you made your choice, you didn't have to stand between us, but you did, don't you dare suggest any of this is my fault," Loki snapped back, he had had enough. Everyone had stopped what they were doing. They were now watching the brothers fight. Then Loki stormed out. Thor stood there outraged, he was about to go after him, when Tony stepped in front of him.

"I don't think that's a good idea Point Break, we don't want this situation to get any worse," he said. Thor didn't like it, but he moved away from everyone else and sat down.

"Someone should go after Loki, make sure he doesn't get into any trouble, we don't know where Rift is, or if he has any friends here," Steve told the others.

"I'll go," Tony said, "I think I know where he would have gone." He didn't wait for the others to respond, he just walked out of the castle and off into the rocky area. One of the first places he checked was the shaded crater nearby. He was relieved to see Loki there, he was sat at the edge, staring off into the distance. Quietly, Tony made his way forward and sat beside him. Loki made no effort to move away, he just sat there absent-mindedly into the distance. "You OK Lokes," Tony said softly.

"If you came here to get me to talk about Rift, you might as well leave now I don't want to talk about it," he replied.

"No, I came to see if you were alright, Rift is out here somewhere and we didn't want you hurt," Tony told him, "I think it is wrong of Thor to try and force answers out of you, if you don't want to talk about it you shouldn't have to." He put an arm round Loki's shoulder. "If you ever want to talk about it or anything really, I'm here for you," he told him. Loki looked at him, and gave a small smile.

"Thanks," he said. He moved closer to Tony, and put an arm round his shoulder. "We should probably get back before Thor decides to send out a search party. He doesn't know when to leave people be, then again, he has always been surrounded by people who wanted to be with him so he doesn't know what it's like when people don't want to be around him, when they want alone time," Loki sighed, before he stood up. Tony did the same. They both walked back to the castle. When they got back, everyone was about ready to go.

"Right, as we don't know what threats are out there, we are going to explore in pairs. Clint, Natasha, you're going o see if we are alone here, Bruce, Thor, you are going to look for a reliable food source, Tony, Loki you are going to cover the area, see if there are any better places to stay, or if there are supplies from previous visitors, Buck and I will go see if we can find anywhere where Rift could be, we will meet back here as it begins to get dark, everyone understand, good. Avengers, let's go," Steve said, before they all set off in different directions. He had noticed something strange during that briefing though, during the pairings Thor looked like he was going to say something, but Tony had given him a deathly stare and he had not even said a word, this was strange. Tony and Thor normally got on but this was strange behaviour. Steve shrugged it off as a coincidence. He focused back on the mission at hand. Heim and Bucky were going into the lion's den looking for Rift. He knew they would be fine; they had had each other's backs since before the war, they were really close friends, but Steve wanted more than that. He'd have made a move by now, but he didn't know if Bucky felt the same way. He was absorbed in thought until they stopped at the edge of a huge forested area, the trees were covered in bright orange leaves with turquoise trunks and branches.

"Careful, we don't know what lurks here," Buck warned Steve.

"I know Buck, should we leave it till we have the whole team, it might be a better idea, I we run in on our own, we could easily be overpowered," Steve told him

"That actually seems like a better idea, maybe we should start heading back, we'll see what the others found, and we will make our decision on what to do next," Bucky replied turning around to walk back. Steve followed in close pursuit.

By the time sunset came, everyone was back. Clint and Natasha confirmed they were alone in the area, Thor and Bruce had found some weird prickly fruits and a strange self-roasting meat, they didn't seem very keen to share how they found out it was self-roasting, but the smouldering ends of Thor's beard were enough to guess. Loki and Tony had found a few supplies, bandages, guns, blankets and a pack of cards, there were no better buildings to stay in, this was the best standard one in the area. They all went inside as the light got less and less. At least one thing had come from the days exploring, they no had blankets to sleep on and under.

It was in position, it just had to wait, the others were like animals, but it was very aware, it knew its target, it knew how to get its target, it just had to wait. Soon, very soon it would complete its purpose. Soon. Soon.
