How It Should Have Been

Hello everyone, I'm deeply sorry to inform you that I will no longer post chapters to this story, the main reason for that is that I have lost interest and no matter how much I tried I couldn't force myself to write the story any longer. Knowing that I'm never going to finish this story does break my heart, but I thought it would only be fair to tell you how I planned for it to go, hopefully, one day I will return and finish this fic.

So after Faye told Eren the truth about his mother, Eren, in turn, told her about his adopted family and friends, which made Faye happy, but sad at the same time because he refused to tell her the person he falls in love with or go through the surgery, but in the end, everything was fine (By Eren's standard) and Faye told him about his grandfather being in Romania now, and how when the man return he will cry himself knowing that Faye finally found his grandson, Faye even gave Eren her locket because Eren told her that he doesn't have any picture of his mother…

Meanwhile, everything was not going great with Levi, because every time Eren tried to confirm him about Erwin's abuse, the man always find some excuse to slip out of the conversation the two of them are having, and Eren even suspect that Erwin did something to make Levi go out of him, but not having enough evidence, Eren start searching around, hoping to find a clue to this whole farce, the man also bought a laptop and start writing, no one knows what he was doing with the laptop he carries with him all the time, but it seems that it made Eren calm somewhat and he won't lash at Erwin as much as he did so everyone left him to it.

While talking with Annie one day, it had been a long time since he last saw the small girl, even promised her to fight her another day, not wanting to admit that he can't even go down the stairs without losing his breath… Annie told him offhandedly about Mikasa being kidnapped two years ago, thinking that he was informed of the event, she also told him how Erwin helped Levi save her and that she think it was the reason why Levi was with Erwin in the first place…

With two weeks before the wedding and having to sneak to the hospital all the time now, Eren didn't really care that much about his life (Considering that he will die anyway) he went alone to the warehouse that was said Mikasa was kept in for a week before Erwin and Levi saved her… while searching the place up and down, he found some crucial evidence, enough that Erwin will be sent to jail if they were released and will destroy his upraising career as a politician.

Now the only thing Eren needed to do, saves Levi and tell him about his plan of sending Erwin away to jail, after all in those two weeks leading to the wedding Eren with the help of Faye and his friends who were still in America, we're able to gather enough evidence about Erwin being abusive and manipulative while doing shady business on the side, enough evidence that the minimal jail sentence for him will be twelve years behind bars and destroy any career he planned to start, and by then, Eren sent his laptop and the evidence to America, via Faye who Eren made her promise him that she will give the laptop and the tapes to Frieda and his friends who he knows will come three days after the wedding that Eren was planning to crush.

On the rehearsal dinner night, Eren couldn't handle it anymore, he couldn't handle the plastic smile that Levi paste on his face or the tired laughter he gave, so Eren left the venue in a rush growling at himself for being this attached, breaking his promise to himself, he was unaware that Levi followed him until the shorter man touched his arm gently, taking this as his chance, Eren told Levi about his plan, telling him that he was safe, that he could leave Erwin, that he wouldn't let the other man touch him ever again, but as usual, Levi refused to listen.

"If I didn't leave… if I haven't gone to America… you will have said yes to me right?" Eren asked, not knowing if Levi will understand his broken words, but the tears gathering in Levi's eyes told him what he wanted to know, if he hadn't left for America it would have been him in Erwin's place right now. "I'm leaving." Eren said which made Levi look at him asking him in a small voice 'Where?' which made the younger man laugh cruelly at that. "Away, Levi, I am leaving, I have had enough, I can't love you anymore, I'm tired of loving you, tired of seeing you turn into this… this shell… hopefully, you will get yourself out of the mess you throw yourself in, preferably before you end up six feet under." Eren said as he tugged his arm's out of Levi's hands which made the shorter man freeze in his place as he watched Eren leave him alone, unaware that Eren was trying to stop himself from hacking his lungs, wiping the bloody petals away from him… Faye told him that he needed the surgery and fast at that, but Eren had been postponing it for a week now.

Broke heart more than he already was before, Levi returned to the venue, with broken heart, looking around the place at the faces that he didn't know, and only his family and a few of his friends were here, which made Levi swallow at that, standing up from his chair making everyone look at him, as he took his wine glass as if toasting. "To start this evening with, I want to thank you all for coming, it really warmed my heart that a lot of people I don't even know who the fuck are they showed up." Levi said with a plastic smile on his face, which made his family and friends look at him, Kenny realizing what his son was going to do smirked and looked at Han who was grinning like a manic. "Secondly, Erwin, you don't know how much I wanted to say this to you, but fuck you, and your stupid ass wedding, I am not marrying you so… goodbye fucker." Levi said as he spilled the wine in Erwin's face, rushing out of the room planning to leave, only to stop by Erwin who had a strained smile on his face, which made Levi growl at that pushing his fear away, as he pushed the bastard off of him toward the cake that was on display, which made Erwin stumble and fall face-first into it, ending up screaming as his parents rushed toward him, realizing that the cake contains nuts and that the person who did this could only be the one and only Eren Zoë, Levi laughed happily at that as he rushed out of the venue, planning to catch up with Eren and tell him everything… unaware of his father laughing his ass off as he collected his earnings from the Zoë family (Who thought that Eren will be the one who will crash the wedding) and Levi's friends (Who were pouting that they lost but were happy that their friend was finally free to marry the one he loves) Mikasa was giggling with Kuchel all the while as they came to the same conclusion with Hanji that Eren was the one responsible for the cake.

Levi rushed to follow Eren, heart pounding in his chest as he tried to find the younger man and tell him about his feeling and about everything that happened since Eren left for America, and as luck would have it, Eren was sitting in the park, looking at the sky with a tired look on his face as he looked at the camellia's petals in his hand and even that look turned into a shock when he saw Levi running toward him, Eren stood up from his seat at the bench and he got an armful of Levi who hugged him tightly. "Why?" Eren asked as he pushed Levi away, which made the other boy give a pained smile.

"Because I am an idiot because I was scared because I didn't know what to do… you knew this is who I am from the start…" That got a laugh from Eren as he looked at Levi who was smiling at him with much happiness now. "Because… because I would always say yes…" That got a hitched breath from Eren and the man didn't know if it was the Hanahaki acting up or not… "Because I love you…" Those words made a huge smile take over Eren's face as he lowered his head to kiss Levi which made the shorter man sigh in happiness… though pain took hold of Eren and he pushed himself away from Levi clutching his chest and coughing violently in his hand making Levi panic and call out his name, the last thing Eren remembered before passing out was Levi's crying face as he was calling the ambulance…

Waking up, Eren groaned to himself as he looked around the place in confusion, not knowing where he was until it clicks in him that he was in the hospital, when he looked at his side he saw that Levi was asleep in the uncomfortable chair beside him clutching his hand tightly in his which made Eren give a tired but happy smile, pausing a little when he didn't feel the pain that usually follows him every time he tried to breathe this last month, that caused him to sit and look around the room, his movement made Levi snap awake and look at Eren for a long time not knowing what to do, it was only a few second before Erenfound his arms full of Levi who was sobbing and crying loudly, which made Eren try and shush the boy causing him to cry even louder, which it ended with the door to his room slammed open and a messy looking Faye run inside followed by Eren's family and friends…

It ended up with Eren being screamed at by Hanji (The only one who knew about his mother and her disease other than Faye) Kuchel, Jenny, and surprisingly Kenny… it ended with him also being hugged to death by Faye who sower that she will kill him for this, and that his grandfather is so going to throat him and that he is on the first flight from Romania to Eldia right at this moment… but to Eren's shock, he was told that he was healed from the Hanahaki, which ended up with Levi screaming at him how much of an idiot he was for not telling him, which ended with Eren also screaming at Levi for being an idiot and letting Erwin use him when the bastard was the one who staged Mikasa's kidnapping and threatened Levi's family and friends with death if he didn't marry him, which you can say, made everyone scream their heads off and nearly rushed to kill Erwin if Eren didn't tell them that he already handled it and that he spent months trying to find evidence to incriminate Erwin and that he succeeded and they only have to wait for three more days before Erwin will be gone forever from their lives.

Eren's grandfather arrived the next day to the hospital, rushing to the room with Faye to see his grandson, after all, Faye already informed him about Eren, about the man and his adopted family and loved one and his life and how he wished to meet Kruger now that he no longer was facing death, and as you can imagine the reunion was spent with Kruger (Who looked like an older version of Eren which nearly made everyone have a heart attack) holding Eren tightly, that day Eren as much as his friends knew that he was Eren Kruger's grandson, the most ruthless and successful businessman in Eldia (Who Kenny has been trying to make deal after deal with but was always shut down like with the most of the business people in Eldia) Eren also discover that the third friend Faye talked about was actually Kuchel, who sobbed her heart out when she knew that Eren was Carla's son and that Carla died ten years ago…

It was hard at first but Eren did get on his feet in the end, getting out of the hospital a week later, in that week Frieda, Moblit, Isabel, and Farlan came from America, holding Eren tightly while crying their eyes, threatening Eren that they will kill him if he pulled a stunt like that ever again…

Eren was given his laptop back from Frieda, and after a few question from his friend, Eren showed them that the laptop has several videos and evidence, that Erwin Smith was dealing with shady people, trying to raise himself between the ranks fast, and that marrying Levi, whose father was considered a famous public figure would have increased his rank in the politic world, he also showed them the evidence that showed Erwin paying for Mikasa's kidnapper, and the deal he struck with Levi when the kidnapper sent a letter for the teen that if he didn't come alone they will kill his sister…

All in all, after several months of going to the courtroom, Erwin was finally behind the bars, which was good for Eren because he and Levi had been dating for months now. When Levi asked Eren about his need to buy the laptop, the man just smiled a little at that and opened a file on it, giving it to Levi to read, and then Levi discovered that the reason Eren bought the laptop was not to hide the evidence he gathered, but it was actually to write how he met Levi and how he felt about meeting him, the friends he met through Levi and photos of him and his friends with everyone's name on the pictures, and it caused Levi to cry his heart out and rush to hug Eren tightly, knowing that Eren did this because he was going to do the surgery and that he was afraid of forgetting Levi…

One day while Eren and Levi were in Levi's first gallery he saw Grisha, as the man was walking around the place taking in the art, and as much as Eren wanted to rush to the man and punch him in the face, he realizes that Grisha doesn't deserve Eren's hater not anger, something the younger version of him would have scuff at but Eren liked to think that he has grown up…

It ended with Eren and Levi marrying each other three years later…

Again, I am so sorry that I ended the story like this, but as you can say a lot has been going on lately, and I just couldn't finish it anymore, hopefully, one day I will return and finish the story.

But don't worry! I plan to publish another Eren/Levi story soon an A/B/O fic, I also have a horror fic for that pair, with a Titan Eren… yes, I am not going to disappear!
