Legends Never Die

Walt Longmire is considered to most a living legend. After Walt led his department and the tribal police together to stop Malachi and his band of thugs he became a living legend to the people of Wyoming. After the events Walt retired and swore to be done with the police force for good. Walt may have stopped the threat for then, but trouble always finds its way into Absaroka county.

1. Prologue

Walter Longmire woke up in a blur and mix of emotions. He looked up to see the starry Wyoming sky with a bright full moon. He felt warm liquid all around him and he suddenly realized that he was laying in a puddle of blood. Whether it was his or not he could not tell, however, Walt had a strong feeling it was his. Walt felt pain spike all throughout his body. He was laying out in the middle of the forest. He took a huge breath and he went to sit up. It took him a few seconds, but Walt finally sat all the way up. He then collected himself and hopped on to his feet.

When Walt sat up, he felt a sharp pain in his right leg. Almost like a stab wound. He also felt more wounds on his upper body more like bruises. He signed as he felt the warm blood on his leg. Walt suddenly ripped off his plain blue buttoned up shirt he was wearing. He reached in his left pocket for his pocketknife, but he did not find anything. So, he ripped at his left arm sleeve. Walt ripped and tearing for several minutes before he tore it loose. He then took the sleeve and wrapped it around his leg to clot the blood.

He reached for his sidearm but then remembered that he did not have it on him. He had left it at his cabin. Walt looked around and tried to collect his bearings, but all he found was darkness.

Walt kicked the dirt with his boot and spat onto the earth. Suddenly Walt heard something. He looked and off in the distance he could see the headlights of a car through the trees.

Walt took off limping through the woods. He felt saplings and thorn bushes brush and scrape against him as he limped towards the road, but he didn't stop. Walt finally reached the highway to see the car speed off in the distance. "Damn." Walt muttered to himself. He fished through his right pocket but couldn't find his cell phone.

Walt walked to the edge of the highway and kicked something soft with his foot. He reached down and picked up his Cowboy hat that was still in good shape. He blew it off and put it back on his head." Well, looks like I'm walking." Walt said to no one and he walked off into the darkness back towards Absaroka county.
