Walt Longmire sat at his rocking chair on the front porch of his cabin. While he sat, he drank his favorite cold beverage, Rainier. As he sipped on the cold brew and felt the strong mountain air brush up against his face. He finished the drink and set it down on the arm of the chair. Walt sat up, stretched, picked up his cowboy hat, and walked off into his front lawn.

Walt went down to his horse stable and picked up a saddle. His horse stable was very small and only made up of just four stalls. Walt never had or wanted just a bunch of horses, just a few for him and Cady to ride from time to time. However, Cady hadn't rode in a few years. Nowadays it was mainly just Walt and Vic every now and then.

However, Walt missed when him and Cady used to ride. He first taught her to ride a horse when she was eight years old. He could remember the day just like it was yesterday. The first time he let her loose on the horse it bucked her off and Cady was scared to get back on but Walt reassured her it would be okay Walt told her," the horse is only scared if you are scared, so don't be scared and everything will be okay." So, Cady did climb back up on her colt and after that day she rode like a pro.

Walt continued to walk around the stable until he approached the stall on the far right end. This stall belonged to his favorite horse, Bandit. Bandit has been Walt's main Stallion for many years now. Walt had owned him ever since he was just a young colt.

Walt mounted up on bandit and took off into the cool and crispy spring Absaroka air. As they rode Walt felt the freedom of his life. Ever since he had retired, he had loved feeling this free. Free of dealing with all the corruption, the drugs, and the scandals that his old every day life used to put him through.

However, Walt's job had not always been that stressful. Back when Lucian first hired Walt things were very simple. Of course, Walt was only 22 years old and was fresh off the oil rig so of course all Walt wanted to do was work. For the Longest time being sheriff was a really good job for Walt, but that all changed after his wife Martha was murdered.

Walt continued to ride through the countryside when he felt a short buzz in his right pocket." Woah boy." Walt calmly said to Bandit. Bandit felt Walt's hand on his shoulder and slowed his roll. Walk fished through his pocket to reach for his almost dead cell phone.

Walt picked up his phone to see the name "Ferg" popped up. Walt slid his finger across the screen to answer the phone call.

"What's up Ferg?" Walt said in an excited tone. However, Ferg did not seem as excited as the retired sheriff was. "Um sheriff, I mean Walt, you might want to come out to the Rez with me, Mathias will send you the location." Walt pondered over what Ferg had just said." Ferg, you know I'm retired right. Been retired for about two months now."

After Walt said that he could hear Ferg try to hold back a sob." Walt please, just come out to the Rez for me it's important. Walt spoke this time with a more serious tone in his voice." Ferg what happened?" This time Ferg did let out a sob.

"Walt, I'm so sorry." Walt sighed." It's fine Ferg really, now just tell me what happened." He heard Ferg take a deep inhale of breath and then release it." Walt, it's Cady, there's been an accident." Walt hung up the phone as quick as he possibly could. Horrible thoughts began to enter his mind and he just sat there holding his cell phone in hand. Walt then angrily threw it into the countryside. Then he remembered. the location of the accident. Walt quickly jumped off bandit to go find his cell phone.

After an hour of searching and riding Walt finally arrived back at his cabin on Bandit. He jumped off his stallion and jumped in his Bronco. Walt cranked his trusty vehicle and spun tires leaving his cabin. Walt screeched tires as he got back on the pavement of a highway. The odometer of his Bronco was stretching over 100 MPH, but Walt did not care one bit. Walt felt something on his face, but he didn't think to wipe it away because for the first time in forever Walt had tears covering his face.
