" Chapter 3: Drunk
After the funeral was over Walt walked by himself in silence. He walked around the giant church that had he once attended every Sunday. Walt was a man of God but over the years his job had called him to miss out on more and more services and he eventually just stopped going after a while.

Walt walked to the front of the church and looked up at the building. It was a very tall building that was layered with worn bricks on the side. It faced the Absaroka sheriff's department that was across the street from it. Walt turned and looked across the town park to see the building that took up so many years of his life. He walked backwards and took a seat on the front step of the church building.

A few moments later Walt's longtime best friend Henry Standing Bear came across the corner of the church. He came across the same left side that Walt had came from. He silently walked up to Walt and took a seat next to his friend. Walt let out a huge sigh and Henry spoke.

"Walt, I'm so sorry for what happened." Walt did not look at Henry. He did not reply to Henry's comment. Walt just continued to look out into the town of Absaroka.

Henry sighed as he knew what to do. He simply just sat forward with Walt. He knew the best thing to do was wait for Walt to speak. If he was going to speak. Several minutes passed and Henry was about to get up and walk off when he finally heard his Friend speak.

"Thank you, Henry." Henry just simply smiled and whipped a tear away from his face." Your welcome." Walt finally stood up leaving Henry alone sitting on the step." Henry, I think I need a drink." Henry looked up and spoke." Do you want me to come with you? I can make sure you get home safe." Walt shook his head." If I need a place to sleep, I'm sure I can use the couch in your old office."

Henry nodded his head and stood up." That is fine, just give your keys to the bartender." Walt nodded and walked off silently to his Bronco. As Walt drove off Henry shook his head as he watched him. He knew Walt was going through a lot right now. He also knew Walt was putting on his best face right now. And Henry also knew it was just a matter of time before Walt made it back out the scene of Cady's wreck and found something out. /span/p

...

Walt pulled up to the Red Pony. The Red Pony was still owned by Henry who also owned the Four Arrows Casino. Henry had gained a lot of wealth since then and had also done a lot of great things for the Cheyenne tribe. Henry had donated thousands of dollars to the Cheyenne hospitals and doctors' offices. He had also donated some money to the Cheyenne schools. The Res was a booming place now because of Henry.

Walt walked in the Red Pony and silently and slowly walked up to the bar. He pulled up his chair and took a seat at the bar. Walt looked down at the table and outstretched his arm into the air." Hit me." Walt said a loud. Walt looked up to see the outstretched arm of a man he once called his worst enemy. Jacob Nighthorse stood in front of Walt.

"I'm gonna need your keys Walt Jacob said quietly." Walt did not argue one bit as he shoved his hands down in his pocket and gave him the keys to his Bronco." Thank you." Nighthorse said once again quietly. Jacob went and hung Walt's keys up next to about three other sets already hanging there

Walt looked around him to see only one other person drinking at the bar. It was someone he did not recognize. It was a Cheyenne man who was drinking a Bud Lite. Walt winced at the sight of the disgusting beer.
"What'll it be Walt?" Jacob said to Walt in a louder tone from across the bar. Walt looked upo at Jacob and said." Pass me the Whiskey." Jacob nodded and grabbed a shot glass from the counter. Then he grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniels. He poured Walt a small amount in the shot glass and looked over at Walt.

Jacob brought the glass to Walt and sat it on the table. Walt grabbed the glass to take a swig, but Jacob gently sat his hand on top of the glass." Walt, I am so sorry about what happened to Cady. She has done a lot for me over the past couple of years now and I was very upset to hear the news of her passing." Walt looked up at Jacob." Its okay Jacob."

Nighthorse inhaled a huge breath of air and sat up to let have his drink. Walt turned the whiskey up and swallowed it in one big gulp. The drink felt like fire burning down his throat and Walt wanted more. Walt threw his hand up again and Nighthorse hit him once again.

Jacob gave the whiskey bottles to one of the other bartenders. A young Cheyenne girl named Lilly. Jacob walked over to the far end of the bar and into Henry's office. Jacob took a seat in Henry's chair and leaned back stretching his arms. He wore a plaid button up shirt and jeans. Not what he was used to wearing but it fit the bar more.

After Jacob gave Henry the ownership of the casino, Henry gave Jacob a job at the Red Pony. And Jacob honestly enjoyed the job. He basically had taken ownership of the bar even though Henry technically still owned it.

Walt looked up at the clock on the wall. He tried to see what time it was, but he could not focus on it long enough. His head hurt and he felt like he was going to puke every time he lifted his head up. Finally, Walt just gave up and went back to taking shots of Whiskey. /span/p
By now there was no one else in the bar. Everyone else was either asleep outside in their cars, or they had gone back home. Walt knew he probably needed to go lay down, but he needed more whiskey.

Suddenly the door to the bar slammed open. Walt head the noise but payed no attention to it. Walt just sat there looking at his empty shot glass. He felt someone beside him and he looked over to see Vic pull up a chair beside him.

He could tell she had been crying. Her eyes looked sore and tired." Walt, I'm gonna bring you home." Walt looked at her with a confused look on his face." Okay." Vic sat up." Come on Walt it's two in the morning." Walt sat up and thought he was going to puke for a minute, but he was fine. He reached around to grab for his hat on the counter but then remembered he left it at his cabin before the funeral.

Walt stumbled out of the bar behind Vic. When he got outside, he finally leaned over and threw up onto the gravel beside Vic's truck. After he got done vomiting, he climbed up in Vic's truck and stared into the windshield.

Vic looked over at him." Walt, we need to talk." Walt did not say anything. He simply just kept staring at the windshield." Damnit Walt!" Vic angrily stated." Please talk to me!" Walt now shifted his attention to Vic." Vic I'm drunk. We can talk about this tomorrow. "He could see tears rolling down Vic's face. She turned around away from him and whipped her nose with her sleeve of her Absaroka sheriff deputy jacket." Okay" Vic stated to break the silence." Let's go home."
