Hello, FanFiction readers. Welcome to a revision of DigiDestined Carnival!
It's been 5 years since the original story took place on Friday, May 15, 2015. Oh, that's exactly today but in 2020! I've been meaning to edit some major tweaks to the story because I felt I could've done better. But hey, it was one of my first fanfics, I was new. Then later, I thought about making a full rewritten version and write a different plot.
Of course, there'll be some shippings involved but not any mushy stuff like last time. And another thing, this will take place a few months after the DigiDestined left the Digital World.
One more thing, I don't own anything from Digimon. It's owned by Toei Animation and Saban [used to].
Now without further ado, enjoy the story!
DigiDestined Carnival (2020)
Tai's POV
It was another day at my school. Monday, to be exact. I was just finishing my last assignment for the day in Writing. A few minutes later, I was packing up my stuff, ready to head home. Then the bell rings, signifying school was over.
I walk over to where my little sister, Kari was standing in the hallway. She was waiting for me to pick her up.
"Hey, Kari. You ready to go?" I asked.
"Yeah, Tai. But please, let's not hold hands." Kari tells me.
"Okay." I respond. "Just stay close to me then."
I only want Kari to be safe but sure, I knew she didn't want any of her classmates to see her holding hands with me. I had the same feeling when I told my mom that when I was little.
Outside of the school, Kari and I met with the rest of the DigiDestined.
"Hey guys, what's up?" I greeted.
"Hey, Tai. Hey, Kari. We were just talking about what we were gotta do this weekend." Matt responds.
"And what are we doing? Nothing!" Mimi tells us.
"Nothing? Not even going to the carnival on Friday?" I asked everyone.
"Carnival? What carnival?" Joe questions.
"The carnival's coming to town this Friday. Kari and I saw a flyer when we were walking to school."
Kari nodded to my statement. "We were also wondering if you guys wanted to join us."
"Really? Well, T.K. and I are in!" Matt exclaims, patting T.K. on the back.
"Count me in. My mom told me I need get outdoors and going to the carnival would be a good solution." Izzy says.
"I'm coming along, too!" Mimi tells us, excited.
"Well, I don't know. A lot of accidents can occur at a carnival." Joe states.
"Do you have to be a party pooper and ruin the fun?" I asked, upset that Joe has to be a let-down.
"I'm not a party pooper!"
I make a smirk. "Then you agree to go with us."
Joe was about to say something but got quiet. We all laugh and even he joins in. I turn the other way and see a pair of crimson eyes right in front of me.
"Hello, Tai."
I immediately took a step back, recognizing it was Sora! Our faces were nearly touching! Man, that was close!
"I said hello." Sora says to me.
"Oh- uh- right! Hello, Sora!" I said fast, blushing a bit.
"And hello to the rest of you."
"Hi, Sora. We're going to the carnival this Friday after school." Izzy tells her. "Wanna join?"
"A carnival this Friday? I'd love to." Sora answers. "As long as Joe doesn't become a worry nut and ruin the fun."
Joe frowns. "I'm going and I can assure you I won't ruin anything!"
Everyone starts laughing again at Joe.
The blue-haired boy sighs. "Okay, okay, we get it! Anyway, I got homework to finish. I'll see you guys later." He explains as he leaves.
"Yeah, T.K. and I need to go, too." Matt says. "See ya."
"Bye guys." T.K. waves at us and we wave back.
As Matt leaves, Mimi turns to us. "Guys, I . . . I also need to leave. Bye." The girl says, sounding sad. Wonder what's wrong with her.
"Wish I can stick around but I need to go home to install a new program on my laptop." Izzy leaves the group as well.
The last three DigiDestined behind were Sora, Kari, and me.
"So girls, wanna grab some ice cream? On me." I offer to Sora and Kari. Mostly because I want to hang out with Sora.
The redhead frowns. "Oh, thanks but I can't. I need to help my mom at the flower shop. A lot of customers pile up on Mondays."
Darn. I was hoping she'd say yes. "That's okay, Sora. Maybe at the carnival." I said.
Sora gives a light smile. Man, her smiles would make the flowers bloom in the winter. "Alright. Bye, Tai. Bye, Kari."
"Bye, Sora." Kari and I said at the same time.
With no one to hang out with, I turn my way to head home. I felt a hand grabbing my wrist, stopping me.
And that hand belonged to Kari. "Where are you going? The ice cream shop's that way." She says as she points the other way.
"Oh right. My bad." I say as I scratch the back of my head.

Today's Friday. My friends and I are heading to the carnival today. I went to get Kari from her usual waiting spot and we both went outside to find the others.
"Hey guys, are you ready for today?" I ask everyone around me.
"You bet!" Matt exclaims.
I look around to see who was missing. Of course, SHE was missing. "Where's Sora?"
"Look behind you." Joe tells me.
So I turn around and like last time, a pair of crimson eyes were right in front of me.
"Hello, Tai."
I quickly took a step back just like on Monday and speak, "H- Hello, Sora!"
"Well, I guess everyone's here." Joe stated. "Now let's head over to the carnival!"
We all high-fived each other and left the school campus.

We all made it to the carnival. Near the entrance, we all paid our tickets to get inside. Well, almost all of us. Matt to pay for T.K. and I had to pay for Kari. Pretty glad mom and dad gave me some extra money to treat ourselves for today.
As we got inside, we were amazed at how many rides and how many people were inside the carnival.
"Woah. Talk about two different things colliding." I quote based on the rides and people coming together.
Everyone just look at me with confusing looks.
"Wha- What do you mean?" Mimi asked.
"Well, there's so many people and rides. And I said that because those two are . . . together. Ya know?" Man, that quote was terrible.
". . . rrright." Izzy says, getting more confused.
Everyone turns back to the scenery of the carnival. I put my hand on my forehead because of the stupid thing I just said.
Matt begins to speak up. "So what ride should we go on first?"
"How about the Ferris Wheel?" T.K. suggested.
"Maybe we can ride the ferris wheel later. That way, we can see all the colored lights the carnival has." I explained and everyone agreed.
"How about the Bumper Carts?" Sora asked.
"Hey, that sounds like fun." Kari said.
"Just as long as we don't run into each other." Joe says.
Really? What happened to not ruining the fun? "Joe, that's the whole point of the bumper carts. We run into each other."
Joe sighs and says, "Okay, I'm in."
"That's the spirit!" Matt exclaims at Joe.
No One's POV
Several minutes later . . .
At the Bumper Carts, they decided that everyone would take their own bumper cart, while T.K. sits with Matt and Kari sits with Tai.
Everyone was having a fun time hitting each other along with some other kids riding their own bumper carts.
"Tai, get Mimi!" Kari yells joyfully.
"On it!" Tai drives and crashes Mimi's cart.
Matt and T.K. drove beside Tai and Kari. "Hey, Tai! How about we team up?" Matt asked.
Tai makes a smirk. "Let's do it!"
"Uh oh! Run! I mean drive!" Izzy yells out of excitement.
The two pairs of siblings crash on Joe, Izzy, and Mimi's carts. The three single drivers were getting dizzy.
Then a thought came to Mimi's mind. "Oh boys, how about we team up?"
Joe and Izzy look at each other and nod. "Yeah!"
Tai, Matt, and their younger siblings make scared looks and drive away. But the other three DigiDestined managed to bump into them multiple times.
After a few more crashes, the carts stop moving, signifying the ride was over.
"Aw, it was just getting fun." Joe whines.
T.K. heard Joe and whispers to Matt, "You hear that, bro? Joe's having fun!"
"About time!" Matt exclaims as the DigiDestined get out of the Bumper Carts.
"What ride should we go on next?" Tai asks.
Sora looks around and sees the Water Logs. She taps Tai's shoulder. "How about the Water Logs?"
Tai looks at the ride. He sees a couple of kids on one log as they go down with a big splash at the end. "Sure, a little water never hurt anyone before."
"Are you sure, Tai?" Kari asks as she holds his arm in fright.
Then Tai remembers what happened when he and Kari came to this carnival and rode the exact ride a few years back.

Tai and Kari got in the Water Logs with their parents. Tai was sitting with their father in the front and Kari was sitting with their mother in the back.
Tai was getting excited as their log was going up. However, it can't be said the same for Kari. The little girl was getting scared as she squeezed her mom's hands.
After a few seconds, the Kamiya family went down fast on the log and made a huge splash.
As they got off, Tai was laughing after dropping down and getting wet. But then he turns around and stops laughing.
His little sister, Kari was crying on their mom's shoulder. "I hate that ride! I hate it!" Kari exclaims while sobbing.
After hearing her words, Tai frowns. Feeling bad for Kari.

Sora waves her hands in front of Tai's face. "Tai? Hello, Tai?"
Tai snaps out of it. "Huh, what?"
"Tai, you just blank out on us." Sora says. "Even Joe got in line first before any of us. We were worried about why you're just standing here."
Tai blushed in embarassment. "Uh . . . Sorry. I was just remembering about Kari being afraid of this ride when we were younger."
"Oh, I see." Sora gives a smile. "Well, she's also in line with us. It's best if you come and protect her. She needs her big brother." Sora grabs Tai's hand and softly drags him to the others, causing his face to get red all over.
"Sora- Sora's holding my hand?" Tai thought.
Sora was also blushing. "What am I doing? I'm holding Tai's hand! Why do I stuff without even thinking?!"
"Hey guys, he's here." Sora says to everyone else as Tai snaps out of it again.
"Good. I thought you were gonna chicken out." Joe makes an insult, causing everyone to laugh.
"Ha, ha! You're quite the comedian, Joe!" Tai states with an angered look.
He then talks to his baby sister. "Kari, don't worry about a thing. When we first rode the Water Logs, that was in the past. Now we're older and I'm sure you can ride the logs without any fear."
Kari looks at him. "You think I can?"
"Let me rephrase that. I KNOW you can!" Tai exclaims. "And don't worry, I'll be with you to protect you."
Kari hugs Tai by being the best big brother someone can have. Sora and Mimi let out an "Awww" and T.K. thinks about a joke to make. "Why can't you be more like Tai, Matt?"
"What?! What's that supposed to mean?!" Matt asks.
"Just kidding! You're always like him in every way!"
"In what way?!" Tai and Matt asked at the same time.
Everyone burst out laughing again while Tai and Matt just shrug and stay quiet.
After waiting for a couple more minutes, the DigiDestined get in three logs. Joe and Izzy went on the first log. Matt, Mimi, and T.K. went on the second log. And Tai, Sora, and Kari went on the third log.
Log One: Joe and Izzy
Since Joe was in front of everyone, he took the front seat and Izzy took the back seat. But he couldn't see anything in front since Joe was pretty tall, considering he's a teenager.
"Why am I in the back?" Izzy asks.
Joe turns to him. "Because I was in front of everyone else, including you."
Izzy sighs as he couldn't see the front due to Joe's tall figure.
After a few moments, their log starts to go up. Joe got ready while Izzy just laid down unintentionally, bumping his head on the log's back seat. "Wha- What?!"
"We're going up, Iz."
"Aw, you've could told me!" Izzy says upset.
The two boys held tight onto their handles as they were going down.
AHHHH!
WOAH!
Joe and Izzy screamed. Izzy, out of joy, and Joe, out of surprise. What went worse for Joe was that because he was in the front, the water mostly splashed on him. And his glasses got water marks.
"Oh great! Now my glasses are all wet!" Joe said angrily.
Izzy tries to hold in his laughter as he lets out a few chuckles.
Log Two: Matt, Mimi, and T.K.
Matt's POV
T.K., Mimi, and I decided to take a log together. My little bro was sitting in front of me in the back as Mimi took the front seat. After what T.K. said, I wanted to prove to him that I am able to take care of him as Tai does with Kari.
Besides that, I can be close to Mimi and ask her to hang out. She's been my crush ever since we were in the Digiworld. My feelings for her grew as we bonded more and more.
Alright, here goes! "Hey, Mimi?"
She turns around and our eyes made contact. Man, look at those crystal eyes! "Yes, Matt?"
I gulped out of nervousness. "Well . . . I- I- was wondering if . . ."
But then . . .
AHHHHH!
SPLASH
We all got wet from the big splash we just made. Sure, I was expecting to get wet but I didn't know I was gonna get soaked almost all over me.
"You were saying, Matt?" Mimi turns around to face me again.
"Uh . . . I'll tell you later." I said.
Log Three: Tai, Sora, and Kari
Tai had Kari right in front of him, he had her leaning on his body. Sora took the back seat behind the sibling pair.
"You girls ready for this?" Tai asked the two girls.
"Oh boy . . ." Kari sees that they were now going up the hill.
"Hang on tight, you guys!" Sora advised.
As their log goes up, Tai tightly embraced his sister with one arm and held on a handle with the other arm. Sora held on both handles between her.
"Here we go!" Tai exclaims.
AHHHHH!
The two older DigiDestined screamed out of joy once they were falling. Kari, however, had her eyes closed and screamed for being scared a little. Upon reaching the bottom, the water splashed them with the log wobbling a bit.
Tai then notices Kari's eyes were closed. "Hey Kari. It's okay, we're already down."
The younger girl opens her eyes and sees that Tai was right. "Phew. That wasn't so bad."
Tai makes a grin. "See? I told you that you're over your fear of this ride."
"Yeah. Thanks big brother!"
Sora couldn't help but smile after witnessing the Kamiya siblings in front of her. That's one reason why she fell in love with Tai, he was always looking out for other people besides himself. Especially for his baby sister.
After the DigiDestined exit the ride, they now argue where they wanna go next.
"C'mon, we're gonna miss the magician's show!" Izzy exclaims.
Sora frowns. "Izzy, I don't wanna see that faker making a fool of himself on stage."
"Who says it's fake?" Izzy questions.
"Can we go to the petting zoo?" Kari asks.
"And get my dress ruined? I don't think so." Mimi says.
"You know what, let's split up." Tai suggested. "Joe, you take Izzy and Mimi with you to see that magician's show. The rest of us can go to the petting zoo. How's that sound?"
Matt looks at Tai. "Really, man? I was hoping to get some alone time with Mimi! Thanks a lot, Tai." He thought.
Mimi tries to keep a smile. "Tai, you dummy! I wanted to spend time with Matt! You're such a jerk!"
Joe's POV
So Tai put me in charge of both Izzy and Mimi. But I have to go see a magic show. Bummer.
"Alright, have fun at the petting zoo." I said.
"You too with the show." Tai responded.
And with that, we left with our groups.

The three of us found a good row to sit on. We were in the middle as more people were surrounding us. I suggested we sit in the middle because it's obvious the magician would pick someone in the front row to volunteer. And I don't want that person to be me.
Suddenly, music started playing and smoke was surrounding the stage. Then out of nowhere . . .
POOF
"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my show!"
The magician came on cue as everyone clapped. I wasn't.
I sigh and say, "Oh boy, this is off to some start."

Tai's POV
At the petting zoo, Matt, Sora, T.K., Kari, and I were looking at the animals. There were bunnies, piglets, calfs, and more animals for everyone to look and pet.
I was petting a baby goat and I didn't notice Sora was making her way over to me. "Hi, Tai."
"Huh? Oh. Hi, Sora." I greeted back and stood up to our level. "How are you liking the carnival so far? Having fun?"
Sora clasps her hands. "Oh, I'm having fun. I was wondering if later, you would like to go on a ride with me that I've always wanted to go on."
Sora's asking me to accompany her on a ride? Really? A girl like her asking a guy like me to ride something with her? This isn't a dream, is it?
SQUIRT
As if it was an answer to what I was thinking, some milk squirted on my face.
"Whoops. Sorry, Tai." T.K. apologized to me as he was holding a milk bottle to feed some of the baby animals.
I shrug. "It's cool, T.K."
I face back to Sora, scratching the back of my head. "So, what ride do you want us to hop on together?"
"The Rollercoaster." She answers. Wait, what?
"I've been wanting to conquer my fear of riding rollercoasters so I thought today would be the day I do it. But I don't want to do it alone." She explains to me.
But rollercoasters are not on my bucket list! I hate rollercoasters! Even if Sora's my crush, I don't want to do it. I hope she doesn't get sad when I say no.
"Eh, sure. Let's do it." I respond. What?! Darn my feelings for her! They took over my mouth!
But Sora starts to surround me in a bear hug. Uhhh . . . She's hugging me?! "Thanks, Tai. I knew you could help me out." She tells me.
What did I just get myself into?

Joe's POV
The magician did some cliché tricks with cards, rings, and his hat. I mean I used to love magic but nowadays, the magicians just do the same stuff just in different ways.
"Now, I need a volunteer!" The magician announced. "Who would like to come on stage?"
Immediately, a ton of people including Izzy and Mimi, raised their hands so they can get on stage. I just had my arms crossed. There's no way I'm joining.
"You there! The one with the blue hair and glasses!" The magician says while pointing at . . . ME?! What?! No way!
"Alright, Joe!" Izzy cheers for me.
"What?! I'm not going!" I stated.
"Oh c'mon, Joe! Get up there!" Mimi told me.
"No, I won't!" I told her.
"Joe! Joe! Joe!" Izzy and Mimi began to cheer my name so I can get up there.
"Joe! Joe! Joe!" Now everyone was cheering for me to get on stage. Thanks a lot, Iz and Mimi!
"Alright! I'm going!" I say out loud so everyone can stop. The audience now claps for me. I gotta admit, I was liking everyone cheering me on.
And now here I am, standing next to the magician. "Hello, young lad. And I've taken your name is Joe?"
"Yes, that's my name." I told him.
"Alright, here's what we're gonna do." The magician tells me.

Matt's POV
Here I am sitting on a bench, looking at T.K. and Kari petting the animals. I wish I was Mimi right now. But I have to keep my eyes on T.K. I don't want to leave my little brother alone in a fair . . . again. I'm glad Tai made it back to the Digiworld and watched T.K. after I left.
Then I turn my head and what do I see? Tai and Sora are hugging each other! What gives? He can have his precious little moments but not me? No wait! I should be cheering for them. Those two are meant to be. Our adventures in the Digiworld prove that their bond started to grow.
But c'mon. Tai should've brought Mimi in our group, too. It's no fair he gets to bring his crush.
"Hey, Matt."
"Huh?" I turn to the voice, which belongs to T.K. "What is it?"
"We were wondering if we can leave now." He tells me.
"Sure. We can go. Let's tell Tai and Sora." I say.
Then Mimi and I can get on a ride together.

Joe's POV
"Ummm . . . "
My back was leaning on a long, wide piece of wood that had a few target signs around. The magician was juggling some knives. I was shaking, wondering what was gonna happen.
"Are you ready, Joe?" The magician asks me.
"Uh . . . I guess not." I respond.
"Alright, here we go!"
The magician took three knives in one hand and one knife in the other. He was aiming for one of the targets. I was sweating and fast.
Suddenly, he threw the first knife to my right! I look at the knife that could've killed me while everyone was cheering.
The magician quickly threw the second knife to my left. And the third knife between my legs. I gulped down hard. I wanted to quit being part of this. I wanted to get off the stage!
"And finally, the last knife." The magician states. "But first, let's make this a little more fun."
Fun? What can possibly make this fun? And he stuffs his free hand into his pocket and takes out an apple. He walks over to me and puts the apple on top of my head.
"Uh oh." I thought.
The magician walks back to where he was standing and aims for the apple on top of me . . . I close my eyes, not prepared for what's next to come.
WHOO!
YEAH!
NICELY DONE!
I then open my eyes and see the last knife actually cut the apple in half.
"Let's give it up for Joe!" The magician announced and everybody cheered for me. He turns around and gives a free ticket to his next show. "Thank you, Joe. You may go back with your friends."
I sigh as I'm glad it's finally over. I left the stage just as the magician announces, "Thank you, everyone! It was wonderful having a terrific audience like you! Enjoy your day at the carnival! Have a good evening!"
As I walk back to Izzy and Mimi, the rest of my friends were there.
"Hey Joe, you did great!" Tai compliments me.
"Next time, you better include me in your group!" I said coldly with an evil glare at Tai.
Tai's POV
Woah, what's gotten into Joe? It's as if he was going to threaten me.
"Um . . . Sure, Joe. I'll keep that in mind." I say as he backs away from me.
"So, where should we head to now?" Mimi asks.
Sora speaks up. "Well, how about we head to-"
"Hey, look! The Rollercoaster!" Matt cuts her off and points at the rollercoaster near us.
"I was gonna say that." Sora tells Matt.
"Let's get in line." Izzy says as everyone ran to the line of the Rollercoaster.
All but me. I was still standing near the stage of where the magic show was. I wasn't ready to take on the Rollercoaster.
Sora comes walking up to me. "Tai? What's wrong?" She questions.
"I . . . I don't know if I can do this. I'm also scared of rollercoasters." I tell her.
"Tai, why didn't you tell me?"
"I don't know. I was gonna say no about taking on the rollercoaster but my mouth just said otherwise." I explain to her.
"Oh, Tai. You don't have to do this." She says. "Our friends are gonna be on the coaster. So I won't be riding alone."
Now I don't want to make her sad. I want to keep my word. "Sora, I said I would help you out and I'm gonna help you! Let's go ride the Rollercoaster together!"
Sora gives a light smile. "You don't have to."
"I want to." I told her.
"Really?"
"Really.
"Thanks, Tai."
She grabs my hand and lightly drags me to the group like earlier today. Man, for what I'd do to continue holding her hand.
Once we got in line with everyone else, I notice that Matt and Mimi were holding hands! What?! How'd that happen?

Few moments earlier . . .
Matt's POV
"Let's get in line." Izzy says as everyone ran to the line of the Rollercoaster.
Now was my chance! I approach to Mimi and tap on her shoulder.
She turns around with a smile. "Yes, Matt?"
"Hey, Mimi. I was wondering if you would like to sit next to me on the rollercoaster." There! I said it! Now for her answer.
"Oh, I'd love to sit next to you, Matt. Just as long as T.K. will sit on your side." She said.
"Of course, gotta make sure my little bro will be safe on the ride." I responded.
Mimi smiles wider at me and then she takes my hand. I look at the two hands holding each other with wide eyes. I look back at her face and she giggles a bit.
Am I blushing red?

Back in the right time . . .
Tai's POV
Huh, good for the both of them. I'm happy those two chose each other.
The current group of people who were riding the rollercoaster got off and exited on the other side. There were four carts and each cart had four seats; two seats in two rows, to be more specific. Matt and Mimi sat together and Izzy sat next to T.K. because he can't ride on his own.
I walk up to Joe. "Take care of Kari for me, Joe."
Joe nods. "Don't worry, Tai. Your sister will be safe with me."
"Thanks." I give him a high-five.
Sora was still standing and stopped me. "Do you still wanna do this, Tai?"
I give her a smile. "Yes, Sora. Let's get rid of our fear together."
She softly pats my shoulder and smiles. "You're a good friend, Tai."
I felt like I was blushing by how Sora complimented me. I scratch the back of my head as we took the back seats of the last cart. Oh boy, wasn't expecting to be way in the back.
About a minute later, the ride starts to move slowly. I had my eyes closed. I was so scared, I wasn't prepared for what's to come.
But then I felt a hand grab hold of mine. I open my eyes and see that Sora was HOLDING MY HAND! Is my face all red?
Sora flashes a smile. "Tai, don't worry. I'm with you. We're in this together." She says as if she was my mother.
I was so lost in thought that . . .
"AHHHH!"
"WOOOAH!"
"YAHOOO!"
"WHEEE!"
The Rollercoaster immediately went down and fast! I was screaming at the top of my lungs as the ride moved up and down, left to right, side to side!
Matt and the others had their hands up in the air. They were enjoying it, I wasn't. Sora was still holding my hand. But it looked like she was having fun, based on her laughter.
BLEURP
Did I hear someone just vomit?! Yuck! I don't wanna know who threw up!
Suddenly, the ride stops and the carts start moving slowly towards the exit. Yes, thank you!
We all lifted our handles and took our seat belts off as we all exited the Rollercoaster. Sora and I were the last ones to get off.
"So? What did you think?" She asks me.
'What do I think', she asks. I turned my frown into a smile and respond, "That was awesome! No, really! I had fun! I'm not afraid of rollercoasters anymore!"
Sora also smiles. "Really? Me, too!" She puts her hand on my shoulder again. "I'm happy we both conquered the rollercoaster together. Thank you, Tai."
We make our way to the others but then some nasty scent filled the air.
"Oh man, what smells?" I ask.
"Ask Izzy." Joe tells me as he covers his nose with his shirt.
Izzy? Wait, is he covered in vomit? "Hey, it's not my fault!" Izzy exclaims as he tries to get some of the puke out of his shirt. "The guy in front of me turned around and barfed all over my shirt!"
"I'm getting hungry, anyone in the mood for food?" Matt asked us. Seriously? Izzy's covered in barf and he's hungry?!
Everyone else just responded 'yes' to Matt. Am I the only one who's disgusted?
"I'll meet you guys at the food court. I'm gonna try to get all this off of me." Izzy says as he walks away.
"Wait." Joe stops Izzy and pulls out a small bottle of cologne. Man, that guy always comes prepared.
We all made our way to the food court and ordered our grub.
10 minutes later . . .
Matt, Joe, and I grabbed some hot dogs that had some jalapeños. Sora and Mimi ordered turkey legs. Not a bad choice . . . for a couple of girls. T.K. and Kari ordered hamburgers with almost everything on it. For how young they are, those two can be surprising.
"Hey guys." Izzy came back and sat with us. He got two corn dogs on his plate.

No One's POV
After the DigiDestined finished eating, they went off to go play some of the games the carnival has to offer.
Matt was throwing basketballs on the hoops. He scored five hoops and won a huge plushed dog. He gave it to Mimi and she hugs him in return.
Joe had his eyes on a prize that was in the game where people aim a squirt gun to fill up balloons. One last collectible action figure of his favorite superhero, Toxic Man. He got ready as three more people also sat with their own squirt guns. Everyone aimed for the target and . . .
POP
A little girl jumped up in joy for popping the balloon. She asked for her prize to be a purple plushed dog.
"Darn it." Joe says. "Oh well, next game I'll win."
T.K. and Kari spent their money together to throw darts in the middle of a target. T.K. failed his three tries and Kari failed two of her tries. Her third try actually made straight in the middle! She got the prize the two children wanted; a Spinkachu plush.
"Can I hold it?" T.K. asks Kari.
"Wait your turn, T.K. He's so cute and cuddly." Kari replies.
Back with Joe, he got through seven tries on the water-filling balloon game and hasn't received his prize yet.
"Not giving up, yet!" He exclaims.
Joe pulls out his last dollar and three more people sit down with him. The game begins as the balloons start to fill up with water.
POP
Joe couldn't believe it, his balloon didn't pop! It was another little girl whose balloon did!
The guy in charge of the game gave that girl the Toxic Man action figure. Joe had his mouth wide open, he couldn't believe his luck let him down.
But the girl wasn't having any fun with the action figure so she threw it in a trash can. Joe saw this and ran to the trash can to pick up the action figure. He let out a 'yes' and made a fist pump in the air. Maybe his luck didn't let him down, after all.
Tai and Sora were at the game where people have to toss coins on a certain part of a rainbow to earn a type of prize. And Tai wants to win Sora a prize. But he used up the majority of his coins and most of them didn't land on any rainbow.
However, the coins that did land earned him a few small and medium prizes. The person managing that game gave Tai several plushed animals. And Tai gave all his prizes to Sora.
The redhead was surprised by this. "You were playing to earn prizes for me, Tai?"
Tai nods. "Uh, yeah. I was gonna give you a large prize but my coins didn't make it and now I have a few smaller prizes. So, do you want them?"
Sora smiles. "Of course, Tai. Thank you."
She hugs Tai, who was still carrying all those prizes in his arms. The game's manager gives him a bag to put in all his prizes. And Tai gives the bag to Sora.

The sun was setting, several people were now leaving the carnival.
The DigiDestined were wondering what to do to finish off their day. Then Tai remembers what they wanted to do earlier today.
"Guys, let's get on the Ferris Wheel. Our last ride to finish off our day." He states.
Everyone agrees and high-five one another. They got in line as it had few people.
After a few more minutes, the manager of the ferris wheel tells them that only four people are allowed in each cart.
"I see." Joe says and turns around to his friends. "Well then, I guess Tai, Sora, Matt, and Mimi will ride together. The rest of you can come with me."
Tai makes a smirk. "Joe, what changed your mind about wanting to be in my group?"
Joe also smirks. "Oh, no reason." He responds, knowing that Tai and Sora bonded more than friends today, same with Matt and Mimi.
A cart opens as Izzy, T.K., and Kari get inside. Joe was also entering but Tai taps his shoulder, "I'll leave you in charge of Kari again. Make sure there won't be any funny business between her and anyone else."
"You mean like T.K.?" Joe questions.
Tai makes a mildly angered glare. ". . . Maybe."
"Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on her." Joe responds as he enters the cart with his group.
And the first group makes their way up the ferris wheel. About a minute later, Tai and his group got in another cart and started going up.

Joe's POV
Here I am with kids who are at least two years younger than me. Of course, Tai made me responsible for my group. Well, mostly Kari. She and T.K. were sitting on one side and I was sitting with Izzy on the other side.
"Kari, can I see it now?" T.K. asks Kari, who was hugging a Spinkachu plush.
"A little more, T.K." She responded.
"C'mon! I waited for a long time!" He complains.
"Who won Spinkachu back at the dart-throwing game?" Kari asks, not facing him.
"Guys, please don't fight." Izzy says.
Well, it doesn't look like T.K. and Kari will be bonding like Tai and Sora or Matt and Mimi since well, . . . they're kids.

Tai's POV
So, here I am sitting next to Sora on the ferris wheel. I wish we were alone and not have to share a cart with Matt and Mimi. Oh well.
"Why do you have a bag full of plushed animals, Sora?" Mimi asked.
"Oh, Tai won them all and gave them to me. He used up a lot of coins to try to win me a huge prize but failed. But in the end, his other coins got me these smaller prizes." Sora explains.
"What? All of them?" Mimi questions.
"Yep, they're all for Sora." I respond. "But Matt got you a large prize, didn't he?" I ask based on looking at the huge plushed dog she's hugging.
"Yeah, scored five basketball hoops!" Matt exclaims.
"Five?" Sora asks. "I bet Tai can beat you at that."
"What? Don't drag me into this, Sora. You know Soccer's my thing." I say to her.
"I'm sure you're good at basketball, too." She says.
I look at the ground and reply, "I'm terrible at it."
Seven minutes later . . .
We all exit our carts of the Ferris Wheel and regroup as we leave the carnival.
"I certainly had a good time." I stated.
"I did, too. Especially winning this Spinkachu." Kari says, still hugging her Spinkachu plush.
"Yeah, the rides were really fun. Especially the Rollercoaster." Matt says.
Joe makes a frown. "My least favorite part was being part of that stupid magic show!"
"Oh c'mon, Joe. Lighten up. Leave that behind you." Mimi suggested.
"Anyway, I gotta go. Hopefully, my mom won't constantly ask me to go outside for the next few days. I'll see you guys." Izzy waves at us as he leaves.
"Yeah, I should go too. My parents would get worried if I stay out too late." Joe says. "Bye guys."
"Mimi, care to walk with both me and T.K.?" Matt asks Mimi.
"Oh, I love to. Thank you, Matt. You're really thoughtful." Mimi says to him.
"Here, T.K." Kari hands him the Spinkachu plush. "Make sure to give him back to me on Monday."
T.K. smiles. "Thanks, Kari."
"See ya guys." Matt says as the three wave at us and walk off.
Now like on Monday, it was Sora and me. Oh, right. Also Kari.
"We should also go." Sora tells us.
"Yeah, let's go home." I respond.

Sora and I continued walking down the sidewalk. Kari was on my back because her legs got tired. So I gave her a piggyback ride. She was tired but still awake.
We arrived at our apartment building and got in. We went to my apartment first to drop off Kari.
"I'm gonna go walk Sora to her apartment. You get ready for bed." I told Kari and pet her head.
Kari hugs me and says, "Goodnight, big brother."
"Goodnight, Kari." I respond to her.
My little sister also hugs Sora and they both said goodnight, too. Afterwards, Kari went inside. Now it really is JUST Sora and me.
"Shall we?" I ask.
"We shall." Sora answers.
We walked up a few floors and made it to Sora's apartment.
"Thank you for walking me home, Tai." She thanks me.
I nodded and noticed I'm blushing. "Anything for a friend. Goodnight." I leave to head home until . . .
"Can I at least have a hug?"
I turn around to see Sora with her arms wide open! She wants a hug? From me?
"Please?" She asks with a voice I can't refuse to ignore.
So I open my arms wide and long as we both hug each other.
Sora felt so soft and warm. We hugged longer than a usual hug lasted. I didn't want to let go of her. And I don't think she wants to let go of me.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP
The sound of my watch's alarm broke us out of our hug. I checked the time and saw that it was 9:00PM.
"I- I- I- should . . . go. I should go." I stutter.
"Yeah, yeah. That- That's a good- good idea." Sora tells me while she's blushing.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I say.
"Goodnight." Sora smiles.
"Goodnight." I respond.
She picks up her bag of prizes and gets inside her apartment.
I walk and since no one's around me. "Yes!" I fist-pump the air and happily walk off. "This was the best trip to the carnival ever!"

I certainly had fun rewriting this story from 5 years ago today. Exactly on Friday, May 15th. I hope to write more Digimon fics in the future. I have a good idea that involves around three of the DigiDestined.
