Despite their motion sickness they decided to take the train to the town nearest to the Oracion Seis' headquarters.
"Uh... I feel like my stomach doesn't want to be inside me anymore." Eureka was lying on the floor clutching her stomach; her face was a sickly green.
"Me too, but it was the fastest way. Just give it a few minutes and we'll be okay again." Nevaeh was also green; she was leaning against the wall with her head. She was unable to remain stood up and slid onto the floor. Everyone who passed gave them funny looks. Not that many people outside Magnolia actually recognised them.
"This..." Eureka heaved. "Is... H-Horrible." She put her hand over her mouth.
"We need to pull it together; it's going to take a while to get there." Nevaeh just about managed to stand up, and by doing so encouraged Eureka to do the same.
"Hey." She said as she straightened up. Nevaeh looked over silently, waiting intently. She could see the sadness in Eureka's eyes as she looked down slightly. "Do you think Sol and Luna will be okay with us gone?"
"They'll be fine, trust me." Nevaeh's smile was reassuring. "Besides, Exceeds have a different sense of time than us, they may not think we've been gone that long."
"You're right." Eureka forced a smile but was still concerned, Sol was very immature and Luna wasn't too far behind him, the two of them could get into all kinds of trouble without the girls to look after them. However, she pressed on, following Nevaeh's lead. From the station it was a long walk through a dark forest.
They finally reached the centre of the forest when all of a sudden a blast of purple magic came at them.
"I could hear you coming, dragon slayers." A slim man with maroon hair and purple eyes was standing in a tree behind them. The girls turned to each other with puzzled expressions; they wondered how he knew they were dragon slayers.
"I'm not here to fight you, I want to join you." Nevaeh's voice carried through the depths of the forest.
"What!?" Startled so much by Nevaeh's statement, Eureka stepped back and fell. Nevaeh may have not exactly shared the full details of her plan with Eureka.
"I'm sorry, Eureka. This is as far as we go."
"No way! I'm coming with you, friends stick together!" Nevaeh wasn't going to argue with her, knowing there would be no end to the argument.
"If you're looking to join you'll have to speak to our leader, Brain." He was standing right in front of Nevaeh at this point. Eureka was now back on her feet and put her hand on Nevaeh's shoulder.
"I've always trusted you and I'm not going to stop now, but I'm coming with you." Nevaeh nodded to her. A giant, purple snake appeared next to the young man.
"Get on Cubellios; we'll get to base much faster. By the way, the name's Cobra." He had a cocky tone to his voice. He was quite an attractive young man though. They were flying over the forest and a fortress was coming into view. There wasn't much to it.
"Our main base is just there. Prepare yourself." He hadn't said anything until that point and didn't even look at her. She was taken through to a large room where all the members of the Oracion Seis were congregating.
"The tall guy there, that's Hoteye, the lovely woman there is Angel, the cool dude with the shades is Racer, the sleeping guy is Midnight and here is the man you want to see, Brain. Brain, this piece of eye candy wants to join us, so does her friend." Eureka pouted, thinking he was saying she wasn't attractive. "They're both dragon slayers like me, so they may be of use to us." He didn't waste time with introductions.
"Hmmm... Let's see how strong she is. Shall we put them to the test?" The one known as Brain seemed doubtful of her use but gave them the chance to prove themselves.
"Fine, I'll take on all of you." Nevaeh's expression was unwavering as she looked dead into Brain's eyes. "If I beat you all, will you accept me into your guild?"
"You can try." Brain was intrigued by her confidence, but he thought it was all talk. "Angel you go first."
"Open gate of the scorpion, Scorpio!" With a flick of her hand, this Angel woman summoned her strongest celestial spirit to the field. Eureka watched in awe of this magic. This was the same magic that the new girl, Lucy, used. She was fascinated by celestial spirits.
"Fire Dragon, Iron Fist!" Nevaeh had managed to knock Scorpio to the ground, she kept up her attacks, knowing that if she stopped Scorpio could turn the tables in a second. Her unceasing attacks upon the spirit were not in vain and Scorpio lay charred and bruised, forcing Angel to use another one of her spirits. Cobra and the others were now more intrigued by the young, blonde wizard.
"Open, gate of the twins, Gemini." She seemed calm and collected for some reason.
"Too slow, Angel!" Nevaeh was already behind Gemini and from underneath, kicked Angel square in the face. Feeling like it wasn't enough she then proceeded to use her Fire Dragon Roar attack, leaving Angel smoking on the ground. Next up was Hoteye. Nevaeh had already started for him but the ground beneath her became liquid.
"Dammit!" She had foolishly been caught off guard. Eureka wasn't worried, Nevaeh still had a lot of fight left in her, and she was far from done. She used her Fire Dragon Roar to push herself free but now that she was airborne she was a sitting duck for Hoteye's next attack. Beams fired out of his eyes and she was sent flying through the ceiling. A half smile appeared on Cobra's face while Brain's expression was unreadable. Midnight had woken up at this point. Eureka looked over to him, so this was the guy she was told about, Macbeth?
"Is it an intruder, father?" He addressed Brain.
"If you'd have been awake you would know that these girls who wants to join us, Brain is putting Blondie to the test." Cobra seemed angry at Midnight for not having been alert this whole time. "Little Missy thought she could take us all on, although she did take Angel down easily, she won't pull it off with the rest of us." He smirked. "That's the other one over there." He pointed to Eureka, who was startled by it and hid behind a pillar, poking her head out slightly so she could watch the fight.
"I hope she makes it to fight me, I've been bored recently." He stood up and leaned against the wall in anticipation. Just then Nevaeh came crashing through the ceiling enveloped in flames. Hoteye was too busy ranting about money he hadn't noticed that she had disappeared. She appeared underneath and swiped her leg behind his and tripped him. One fiery punch to the face knocked him out. Cobra readied himself but before he could jump in, Racer had gone to deliver a kick. It seemed as if he was attacking her relentlessly at lightning speed. Nevaeh then realised something and Racer was coming in for another attack, however it was blocked by a shield of fire. Nevaeh took a stance, one hand flat and the other clenched on top. Eureka started feeling flushed, there was something about this Racer guy... he was cute, in a way. He had a good physique at least.
"Ice-make..." This move took the Oracion Seis by surprise as they thought she was a fire dragon slayer. This was what made Nevaeh a special kind of wizard; she had somehow been able to adapt to use different kinds of magic rather than focussing on any in particular. "Floor!" The whole floor became ice and Racer had slipped. At this point Eureka had become a cheerleader for Nevaeh, until Midnight and Cobra gave her an annoyed look, making her retreat back behind the pillar.
"How could you do that between my punches?" Racer asked her in shock.
"Simple, you're not really that fast, you merely altered my perception of time, all I had to do was close my eyes and cast my spell." She stood up straight. Cobra, Racer and Midnight blushed. Eureka threw her head into her hand, although she knew that she was just as bad too...
"Where are your clothes?!" Angel screamed at her. She was still smoking and charred but managed to stand on her feet. She wasn't too impressed.
"Oh, sorry." She let out a nervous laugh. "It's a force of habit." She was stood in her underwear, black with pink hearts all over it. "What do you think boys, pretty cute, huh?" She gave the boys a wink and they couldn't help but stare. This was her opportunity to strike while his guard was down. She ran up to him, swivelled on her right foot and kicked him in the side with her left foot. Brain remained unaffected by all of this; he was more intrigued in whether she was strong enough to beat Cobra and Midnight.
"All right, my turn." Cobra sprang into action. Nevaeh wasted no time in trying to land a hit but she missed every time, then she was knocked to the ground.
"It's no use girl; I can hear your thoughts, and every move you're thinking about making, the rhythm of your heartbeat. I hear it all." He was getting cocky.
"What am I thinking right now then?" She was playing him.
"You think I'm cute?" He blushed, having him say that out loud was embarrassing for him.
"All the more reason for me to join the guild, for the cute boys." She giggled. She could see that Cobra was getting flustered and she was hoping that this would throw him off. It worked ever so slightly. He wasn't evading her attacks like before.
"What's the matter big boy, you were avoiding me before? Do you maybe, like me?" She winked again and Angel put her head in her hand.
"Can you at least put your clothes back on?" He asked. "I feel awkward fighting you when you're half naked like that." He was really losing it.
"Don't you like what you see?" She asked sweetly. Eureka's eyes grew wide, she couldn't believe Nevaeh was saying these things, she wasn't normally like that.
"I know I do." Midnight spoke out; he straightened up and moved closer to watch the end of the fight. He licked his lips.
"That's just perverted, Midnight!" Cobra exclaimed. "Seriously! If you're going to think like that can you wait until I'm done fighting her?"
"Oh my, what is he thinking about?" She asked, sneaking up behind Cobra and knocking him into the wall. She turned to Midnight. "Okay hot stuff, you're next."
"Flirting won't help you, you're going to lose." He wasn't fazed by her behaviour anymore as he knew she was just acting that way to throw Cobra off. He started walking over to her slowly. She used her Fire Dragon Roar however it was as if the flames moved out of his way. He wasn't singed, to her annoyance. "See, your magic cannot hit me." He lifted his head slightly and smiled, his red eyes narrowed. Now Nevaeh was feeling flustered.
"No, but I can!" She came up close to him; nearly punched him in the chest but something was wrong. "Uh..." Her body had been bound by the clothes she had removed before. "How did these get here?" They were wrapped tightly around her, rendering her unable to move. She fell to the floor.
"So you can see through one of my weaknesses." He was now stood over her. "I can manipulate weapons, magic and clothing, no matter what the material. It's called reflector magic." She closed her eyes and smiled.
"Well, I guess I'm beat. I don't have enough magic energy left to carry this on." She said calmly. "It's not like I could land an attack on you anyway, not in this state."
"You did well to defeat four of us." Brain came towards her. "Midnight, you can release her now, she's our newest member, your code name will be Phoenix. You there, you'll be Violet." He addressed Eureka.
"I like my own name though..." Nevaeh protested. Midnight released her from being bound and she began putting her clothes on at last.
"We do not use our real names." He turned and walked away. Cobra grabbed her and dragged her away. Eureka went to go speak to Brain asking if there was anything she could do presently, he just told her that food needed cooking.
"Don't be too long with her; I want to play with her a little more." An evil smirk grew across Midnight's face and he too walked off. Once they were outside, Cobra pushed her in front of him.
"Why did you want to join us anyway?" His eyes narrowed.
"Why don't you just listen to my thoughts?" She said jokingly, but he did so.
"I see. So that's it. Go, he's waiting for you, I don't know what he's planning for you but I'd be cautious." He sounded concerned for her.
"You heard it all didn't you, my memories and feelings?" She asked, she was slightly worried. In her mind she begged him not to say anything.
"Yes, now just go." His voice was cold. "His room is right at the end of the corridor on the top floor. I suggest you hurry up." She hurried and her anxiety grew as she approached his door. She knocked.
"Took you long enough. Get in here." She heard him say from inside the room. She entered and it was dark. All of a sudden she was wrapped by her clothes. "I was impressed, Blondie. Not just by your fighting either. Tell me; was that a show for Cobra or for me?" An evil grin was formed by his lips.
"I did it so I could beat him, I wanted to join the guild, and I had to beat him to do that..." Her rambling was cut short by Midnight, wrapping his hand around her throat.
"Watching you writhe in agony will be even better." He was sadistic. Her eyes widened and her heart rate increased upon hearing his words. Fear grew over her and flooded her body, she began to tremble. "Take off your clothes."
"What?" She gasped.
"All of them." His expression was sinister. Scared, she obeyed him. "Good girl." He used his magic to inflict pain on her and he was enjoying every minute of it.
"Please, no more." She begged him, after enduring half an hour of his torture.
"What was that?" She could sense he was angered. "I didn't say you could speak." His expression softened a bit but was still menacing. "Tell me, have you ever been with a man?"
"What do you mean?" She was anxious to see where he was going with this.
"You know what I mean, have you ever been with a man, been touched, been kissed, anything?" Her reaction said it all; as soon as she looked at him he knew she hadn't. "Perhaps a woman?" He chuckled. She pouted and he let out another chuckle. "Well then..." He moved towards her, she was on her knees and he lifted her chin with his hand, disturbingly gently. He brought his face close to hers. "I'm going to take great pleasure in this." He kissed her forcefully. He pushed her down and she couldn't move with him on top of her. She realised she was blushing, she felt strange. Her body felt warm and her heart was beating fast and heavy. "You actually look even cuter like that, you're blushing too, how sweet." With that he began taking off his clothes. She was scared but at the same time, she wanted it to happen. After it was done, she lay there; she wanted to tell him so badly how she felt but she was scared to, scared of telling him who she was. He had fallen asleep again and so she got up to leave when he grabbed her.
"I thought you were asleep?" She asked.
"Don't leave." He said still with his eyes closed.
"What?"
"Don't leave, I said. Stay here with me, you're mine now." He was confusing her, she really wasn't sure what to make of it but she stayed with him and she stayed awake all night to watch over him, as she had done all those years ago. She cuddled up to him and he opened his eye slightly, looking down at her pale skin and blue eyes, he allowed it. He closed his eyes and went back to sleep. She kept wondering why he didn't recognise her... then again she was so much different than back then...
The next morning she walked into the grand hall, everyone was there except for Midnight, who evidently was still asleep.
"Ah you are just in time; I have a job for you. Our plan is simple; we are going to make our way to Nirvana, but first I need you and another to go deliver a message to Grimoire Heart. Why don't you go with Midnight, he won't be much company to us." Brain explained to her. "Once you two are done with that meet us at the temporary base in the forest north of here. Midnight knows where it is." Just then they left for Nirvana and she was left to go tell Midnight about their job. He was sat on his magic carpet, snoring.
"Um, Midnight..." He mumbled and his eyes opened. "Brain said we're to go deliver a message to Grimoire Heart."
"Fine, get on." He was grumpy. Several minutes into the journey he turned to her and said: "Did you enjoy last night?" He asked her.
"I uh... I'm sorry I was scared, I'd never..."
"Not just that, you got pretty close to me after I asked you to stay, you were holding me. I liked it." He was giving her a blank look, as if he was pondering this new feeling. He pulled her closer and planted a kiss on her lips, she pushed him back. She wanted to ask him how he felt about her, if he even remembered her.
"What's wrong?" He seemed to be showing concern for her now but his tone was still harsh and his eyes slightly narrowed. She began to blush. His expression became more relaxed.
"I... I just..." She couldn't find the words and before she could attempt to say anything else he kissed her again, but this time she allowed it. This time it was a gentle kiss. She kissed him back, which took him by surprise. "Sorry...I..." He wouldn't let her finish and he pulled her in, hugging her tightly.
They were on their way back and he finally spoke to her again.
"Hey, Phoenix." He spoke softly for a change.
"Yeah?" She looked over to him.
"You like Cobra, don't you? His face was straight.
"No, what makes you say that?" She was confused.
"Yesterday, he heard you think that he was... cute I believe was the word. So you're attracted to him."
"Well, no, like I said to you last night, I was only saying those things to throw him off. Why are you concerned about this?"
"No reason..." His voice quietened.
"There is a reason, or you wouldn't have brought it up." She was really perplexed by his behaviour, was this really the same guy as earlier and last night?
"Your friend, Violet, seems to have taken a liking to Racer." He was embarrassed and changed the subject.
"Well I have noticed something, she gets shy around him, but that could be because she doesn't know him?" Several seconds later she tried to get back to the other subject. "I..." Once again she failed to continue to express her true feelings. She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek gently and he blushed.
"Why did you do that?" He tried not to show his feelings.
"I felt like it." She replied. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her in.
Before they knew it they arrived at the temporary base, near where they believed Nirvana to be.
"Glad to have you two back, now we begin our search for Nirvana. Do you want to know what it does?" Brain asked Nevaeh.
"I don't care; all that matters is acquiring it." She suddenly felt like this is what she was meant to do, as though she was meant to aid and follow them. She left to go search for Nirvana.
"I wasn't expecting her to be so compliant so soon." Brain was happy to see her co-operating the way she was.
"Midnight may have something to do with that, ha-ha!" Cobra burst out laughing but Midnight shrugged it off. Nevaeh however had turned bright red and Eureka just gave her a look of disbelief, she caught on. He went to go sleep and let Racer, Angel, Cobra and Hoteye to search for Nirvana, the girls went to look together. A few hours later they returned.
"We've had no luck so far Brain, sorry to disappoint." Cobra said with his head down. They others apologized too.
"It's such a big place, it could take us a while to find." Angel sighed.
"Eureka and I were unsuccessful too. There's a lot of ground to cover for only seven of us." Nevaeh was still optimistic on the inside.
"Yeah well maybe if your boyfriend did less snoring and more searching we'd have found it!" Eureka spoke to Nevaeh in such a stern tone it caught everyone's attention, even Midnight woke up.
"He's not my boyfriend!" Nevaeh was flustered. It was hard to tell what Midnight was thinking at this point, he was just watching the entertainment or the two girls breaking into an argument. Ice met fire as the girls burst into battle with each other.
"Let's go pyro."
"You asked for it ice freak!"
"You need to cool off!"
"You started it, and I'm going to finish it!"
"Enough." Brain interrupted. They stopped dead and looked over to him. "Stop your bickering; we will continue the search tomorrow." Things settled down, Racer took Eureka away and Midnight took Nevaeh. The girls often argued but that was because they were so close.
*A few weeks later*
"Did you have a good trip?" Eureka just returned from one of the towns.
"Mhm, anyways, Natsu, Lucy, Gray and Erza are on their way here now, somehow the light guilds know what these guys are up to." She spoke in a detestable tone. She was only there because of Nevaeh and didn't see the Oracion Seis as allies.
"Wait how do they know where we are?" Nevaeh asked.
"I don't know but we should prepare." Eureka folded her arms, waiting for Nevaeh's decision.
"Brain, would you have any objections if I requested to deal with them personally?" Nevaeh spoke coldly. They all looked towards her, Eureka was feeling worried but held back because she didn't want to get in the way.
"None at all, but I'm intrigued as to why." He was puzzled.
"I used to be in Fairy Tail; also I want to prove my strength and loyalty to the Oracion Seis." With that they followed her to confront her ex-guild mates. "I'll prove my loyalty to you as well, Midnight." She added quietly.
They found the four Fairy Tail members in no time and without hesitation Nevaeh charged at them. Gray began to use his Ice-Make magic but Nevaeh countered it with Fire-make magic, when Natsu tried to eat her flames she took a more physical approach. Knocking him well out of the way she turned her attention to Erza, who had requipped into her adamantium armour, her strongest armour.
"Watashi to tatakau, Erza" (Fight me, Erza). Nevaeh rarely spoke in this language as it had been forgotten decades ago but sometimes she couldn't help slipping now and then. Eureka had heard her mumble in this language during her sleep at times, and Midnight suddenly remembered something from a very long time ago...
With Natsu miles away she could use her fire again. She concentrated golden flames into her right hand, which then turned white; the heat coming from her first was incredible. She charged at Erza who tried to block with her shield, however, Nevaeh's arm had managed to break through it, striking Erza and causing massive damage to her left shoulder.
"How could you, Nevaeh?" Erza said with a pained expression on her face. Another bell rang quietly in Midnight's mind, that name...
"How dare you say my name!" She was upset because she didn't want the Oracion Seis to know. "You're asking for it, Titania." As Erza struggled to get up, Nevaeh blasted fire at her, her scream of pain was nearly muffled by the roaring flames. Eureka finally mustered the courage to speak up.
"Don't you think this has gone far enough? You've hurt your friends!" She shouted.
"Friends? I hardly know them." Nevaeh relaxed. She knew it was a lie.
"What about Gramps? Maybe we should go back to the guild."
"We're members of the Oracion Seis, this is our guild." She was only saying this because she had finally got the courage to tell Midnight, now that the cat was half way out of the bag.
What about Gramps, and everyone, don't you miss them? Sol and Luna too? Now please, can we go back? You kept your promise." Eureka was beginning to sound distressed, she was worried Nevaeh had decided to truly betray Fairy Tail and stay with the Oracion Seis.
"But... It's like I only just got here and I need to leave already..." She was sad, her head hung and her hair fell over her face. "Okay then, if that's what you want." No matter what, she would put her best friend before anything. She turned round to see Midnight had joined. "I'm sorry, I have to go." She didn't want to know their response; she blocked it out as she began to cry. The two dragon slayers took Erza, Gray, Lucy and Natsu back to Fairy Tail. Tears welled in her eyes as she had to turn her back on Midnight, she felt broken.
