Prologue: An Awakening
It was quiet. Too quiet. A young, gorgeous woman; who had a light chocolate brown skin tone, wavy dark brown hair, and black eyes was sitting at a table. She sets down a cup. Her name was Roxanne Vega. She was 342 years old; and she had just taken her youthful potion. Roxanne was currently wearing a form-fitting black dress, with a pair of white gloves, and black high heeled boots.
"Miss Roxanne!" an alarmed voice piped up. A small creature that resembled a dove floated over to where Roxanne was sitting. "The Butterfly! It's rising!" The tone in the creature's voice was clearly full of panic and alarm.
"Kianna, tell me more," Roxanne stood up from her chair, determined to find some new holders.
"I don't know how to describe it," the creature, now identified as Kianna, replied. "Whatever type of energy it was when the Butterfly rose, it wasn't a good one. It was full of darkness and negativity."
"Then I must find holders for the Ladybug and Black Cat. The Black Cat is an obvious choice," Roxanne went over to the Miraculous Box and took out the ring of the Black Cat.
"Then what are you going to do about the Ladybug earrings?" Kianna spoke up. "You're going to have to choose wisely regarding them. After all, imagine if they got in the wrong hands."
"I know just the right person. Besides; they live close by." Roxanne puts the Ladybug earrings into another box, and carefully goes outside; hoping to find the open window where the chosen one would be.
Sure enough, there was the house where the supposed right person was. The bedroom window was left open.
Roxanne took out a grappling hook, and launched it at the window. Once she latched on, she carefully climbed up the wall, before putting the box with the Ladybug earrings onto a table, and climbing back down; returning home.
The person in the room, a male with peach skin, dirty blonde hair and blue-green eyes, glanced up when he thought he heard footsteps. An uneasy feeling had entered his stomach, what if there was a robber in the house? He stood up and observed his room. Nothing was left out of place, nothing appeared missing, a mysterious box now sat on a table-
Wait. Where did the mysterious box come from? Curiosity got the better of him as he approached the box and opened it, to see what was inside.
Inside were a pair of earrings, that were red, with five black spots on both of them; in a quincunx pattern.
"Wow," the boy gaped, looking at the earrings with amazement.
Suddenly, a red light began to glow from the box.
"Wh-What the heck?!" the boy yelped, shielding his eyes from the bright red light.
When the red light vanished, a small creature was floating there. She was ten inches tall, and resembled a ladybug.
"What the heck?!" The boy yelled out. "What or who are you and what are you doing here?!"
"I'm a Kwami. My name is Tikki, nice to meet you," the creature replied.
"Kwami?" the boy replied. "Look, I know nothing about those, or what you're doing here."
"Listen, you have been chosen by the Great Guardian to protect this city. The Butterfly has been activated, and it's not good. They will be able to create supervillains!" Tikki replied.
"Protect, chosen, supervillains…" the boy trailed off. "So this means you're supposed to make superheroes or something?"
"Close enough. You have the power of Lucky Charm. When throwing your yo-yo in the air, you get a random object that can help you defeat the villain. You also can purify the akumas with your yo-yo. And you also get the Miraculous Cure; throwing up the Lucky Charm object to fix everything that has been damaged," Tikki said.
"This is a lot of information," the boy spoke, putting the earrings on. The earrings camouflaged and turned silver.
"You won't have to do this alone though! You get a partner, the Black Cat hero," Tikki said.
"At least someone will be around," the boy sighed in relief.
"Your partner will meet you at the center of the city. To transform, all you have to say is 'Spots On,'" Tikki said cheerfully. "And to detransform, all you have to say is 'Spots Off.'"
"Alright…" the boy took a deep breath. "Tikki, Spots On!"
Almost immediately, Tikki was sucked into the earrings, and he was transformed. He now wore a red bodysuit that had black spots, as well as black combat boots with red spots. His hair gained red highlights, and a yo-yo was tied around his waist. He now wore a red mask with five black spots on it. The earrings were now red with the five black spots in the quincunx pattern.
Meanwhile…
A young woman was waiting, a bit bored. She wore a form-fitting full-length black catsuit with a tiny skirt. Her eyes were cat-like, and green. The ring on her finger was black, with five green paw pads. A belt was around her waist, and there was a silver staff attached to the back. She gained cat ears as well. Her hair was tied into a messy bun.
The male was now swinging around via yo-yo, trying to find the young woman.
A playful, and flirty smile comes on the young woman's face, noticing the guy using a yo-yo to find her.
Eventually, the male noticed the woman and came to a halt. Pulling back on the yo-yo, it ended up hitting him on the head. "So much for a first impression," he mumbled to himself.
"So…" the woman began; speaking in a smooth, velvety tone, "you must be my partner. I'm Lady Midnight."
"Yeah, I'm your partner," the male replied, seemingly a bit anxious. "You can call me Mariquita…"
"Cool name," Lady Midnight grinned. "Why so anxious?"
"I'm, well, not exactly the most social person…" Mariquita admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Don't worry. I'll help you be social. Besides, you've got to be confident while fighting against supervillains," Lady Midnight replied.
"Right, confidence…" Mariquita took a deep breath. "And I'll accept any help I can when it comes to socializing, so thanks for the offer."
"No problem," Lady Midnight winked at him. "I suppose we should patrol; and set out a schedule."
"Got it," Mariquita replied.
About 2 hours later, the patrolling was completed.
"Well, guess I'll see you when a supervillain attacks," Lady Midnight winked at him.
"Yeah," Mariquita nodded, blushing a bit at the wink. "See you then."
Lady Midnight used her staff to pole vault away, to get home safely.
Mariquita pulled out the yo-yo and began to promptly use it to swing himself to get back home.
At Miss Roxanne's House…
Lady Midnight climbed into the window that she had left open; closing it. "Claws In," she said, detransforming back into her civilian self. The magic washes over her, and changes the cat woman back to her normal clothes.
She was still pretty gorgeous, with dark brown hair, and a fair skin tone. Her eyes were hazel; and she wore a white t-shirt, with a pair of ripped jeans, white socks, and white running shoes. Her name was Deborah Clarkson. The ring on her finger camouflaged, and turned rose gold.
"Okay great, that's over," a voice piped up. It belonged to a small, black creature that looked like a cat, with ears and a tail. It also had green eyes. "Now, can I have my camembert?"
"Of course, Plagg," Deborah giggled, petting under his chin. "My great great grandmother should have some."
"Good," the creature, now identified as Plagg, replied.
Deborah left the bedroom, to get the Kwami his favourite cheese. Thankfully, she was successful. "Here you go," she said, passing him a slice of the stinky cheese.
"Thank you," Plagg replied, taking the piece of Camembert and eating it.
"My partner seems to be shy, but with a little help from me, he'll be an expert at being social," Deborah grinned to herself.
"Try not to let that distract you too much," Plagg remarked.
"Don't worry, Plagg," Deborah smiled at the Kwami. "Besides, I can't help it being flirty with my new partner."
"Just try not to flirt to the point where that's all your partnership is," Plagg remarked.
"Plagg, I'll be fine. My great great grandmother has been training me about becoming the next guardian one day," Deborah replied. She yawned. "I think I should get some sleep now."
"You do that then," Plagg responded.
At the house where the male had received the earrings, Mariquita entered his room via the window. "Spots Off," he spoke aloud, and the magic washed over him, transforming the boy back into his civilian form. He was, at the time, wearing a pair of black pants, a blue hoodie and a pair of white sneakers. His name was Flynn Boyd.
Tikki hummed softly. "Well, how did you feel?" she asked her new holder.
"That was...that was…" Flynn paused, trying to find the right words. "Incredible!"
"I'm happy to hear that!" Tikki grinned. "Some of my male holders used the earrings as cufflinks, but if you want to keep them on your ears, that's fine too. They're clip-ons."
"I think I'll keep them on my ears," Flynn replied. "And that's nice to know."
Tikki nodded happily. "Yup! So in order for me to recharge, I love sweets. Marshmallows, chocolate-chip cookies, fudge, a bar of chocolate, you name it!"
"I'll get you something," Flynn replied. He left the bedroom and went to the kitchen to get something for Tikki. Not long after, he soon returned with a bar of chocolate for Tikki.
"That's perfect! Just make sure you carry enough on you," Tikki takes the chocolate bar, and eats it.
"I will," Flynn replied.
"So? What do you think of your partner?" Tikki asked him.
"My partner...well, she..she's really cool," Flynn replied.
"Good to know. The Black Cat and the Ladybug are usually soulmates," Tikki said.
"Soulmates?!" Flynn repeated, a bit taken aback.
Tikki nodded. "Yup," she replied.
"O-Okay, I've...never really…" Flynn trailed off, feeling a bit more anxious about the situation now that he had that information.
"Calm down, Flynn. You've got the power of luck on your side," Tikki tells him.
Flynn takes some deep breaths, and calms down. "Right, power of luck…" he repeats, calming down.
"I think we should get some sleep, it's getting late," Tikki said.
Flynn nodded. "Yeah, goodnight, Tikki," he replied, getting ready for bed.
