Life's a Mess, Cinderblaze is Adorable
Click…
The hotel room's door handle clicked and the only source of light, the red indicator light of the room being locked flashed, casting further dark and eerie shadows over the decent-sized modern room's furnishings. Making the dark blue blankets messily arranged as the bedspread on the bed in one corner of the room appear black with oozing tendrils of red light and casting murky shadows across the closed curtains.
The light then turned green, transforming the room from a room that could appear in a child's nightmare to an eerie sci-fi-like room of a mad scientist's lair. Giving the room itself a sort of radioactive post-apocalyptic feel despite the perfectly intact furniture and suitcase sitting neatly beside the bed.
The soft brass of the door handle made a grinding creak as it was turned from the outside. Before the light begging for a chance to pierce the eerier shadows of the room from the outside world spilled in and the door opened.
Revealing the slender form of a certain blue-eyed woman with the evidence of exhaustion tugging on the corners of her eyes and lying deep in the reflective pools of her irises. Her expression was one of relief mixed with enjoyment, her slender eyebrows quirked into a goofy fashion while she was casually spinning a keyring full of various keycards and actual keys around one finger.
The shadows of the room receded, pushed back into hiding by the flood light from the door and further back into completely vanishing at the woman's companion flicking a light switch.
Revealing the warm creamy tones that consisted of the walls and deep oaken brown of the wooden furniture. The room was neat but messy, with the blankets messily arranged on the bed and various equipment half set up in the tv cupboard, but it was only proof of someone having been inhabiting the room, making it seem lived in and loved.
"Quit worrying so much Leon," the woman lightly hip bumped her companion with a slight giggle at his tiny jump in surprise that followed. "Jake's with them, he won't let Ran mess with Orion's head. Actually…" Her blue eyes turned cheeky as she stepped further into the room, her arms lifting above her head in the form of a stretch with her head turned back toward him. "Correction, he won't let her mess with him too much."
"Thanks for the reassurance Cynthia," her companion's tennor voice was chock full with sarcasm as he shut the door behind him, "aren't you just the sweetest little angel."
Cynthia rolled her eyes and arched her back, deepening her stretch and forcing the muscles in her back to relax and release the tension that had built up in them. "Who said anything about an angel? If I'm an angel then they have shitty standards," her tone was as cheeky as usual, but the main part of the tease was the purposefully foul language. "If anything you'd be a better angel Lioji," her musical Wivano accent deepened at the name, but the term of endearment did nothing to lessen the blow to Leon's pride that the next words brought. She turned to face him, her arms crossed casually over her chest with a rather wicked smirk while her blue eyes adopted a rather scrutinizing glint. "I think you'd look fantastic in a white frilly tutu with little white wings don't you think?"
Leon's expression of flat 'I'm so not impressed' made Cynthia's smirk deepen, "I love you too," he deadpanned in response and unzipped his jacket, "but you've got five seconds," he warned.
"What?" Cynthia asked, confusion clouding her eyes.
Leon removed his arms from his jacket sleeves, "five."
"Leon what the hell?" Cynthia cautiously took a step back from her mate, her weight balancing on the balls of her feet like a nervous cat.
"four…" The male wild casually shook out his jacket and straightened the sleeves, "three..."
Cynthia didn't bother to respond, instead taking another small step back.
"Two…" Leon carefully hung his expensive jacket on one of the coat hooks beside the door and discarded his shoes, "one…"
The way her mate's body tensed and the beginning lunge stance was all it took for Cynthia's blue eyes to widen in understanding.
"Oh hell-" And with the short statement, the female wild was gone, sprinting toward the connecting room's door and hightailing it away from her mate.
"Zero," the chase was on.
Out of everything Ran had expected to have happened while at the hotel, she hadn't expected her sister to almost knock down the connecting door at eight 'oclock.
She and Orion had settled down with Cynthia's spare console to play video games for a few hours and she had been told at seven Cynthia would drop off Orion at the hotel and go to dinner with her mate Leon. However "going to dinner with Leon" didn't explain the barging through a door and narrowly avoiding careening headlong into her.
Everything's been a legit mess. I'm just beginning to get back into uploading everything after adjusting to living almost completely in a wheelchair (for the second time damnit) and am working on a Briarfeather and Cinderblaze related publishing project that between it and my job as a Graphic Designer, I'm short on time.
So I apologize, and hope you all understand why for now I'm putting WHSS on hiatus or extremely slow updates.
