Chapter 9:

Ain't it good to know?

She shouldn't be so excited because of the prospect of a make out session with her girlfriend, it's like she is a hormonal teenager or something...

Oh wait... she is a teenager.

Sometimes she just forgets that she is a teenager because she feels like she is older than she really is. It is probably a side effect of teenage pregnancy.

The fact of the matter is that she received a text from her girlfriend and now here she is, on her way to the Berry residence.

The text said:

Rachel: hey beautiful! My dads are out. Want to come over? And maybe... make out a little?

Apparently the Berry men are out and they'll have the house to themselves, but she thinks it is a good idea to park a few blocks away just in case.

It's been almost two weeks since their first date. Unfortunately, hanging out in their houses is still an issue, when their respective parents are not out anyway.

As soon as she steps inside the house Rachel drags her to her bedroom, more precisely, to her bed, where they waste no time and start a make out session.

"What was that?" Quinn asks after disconnecting their lips with a gentle pop.

"What?" Rachel frowns curious and props herself up, putting some distance between them as she is on top of her girlfriend.

"I heard a noise..."

"It was nothing." Rachel reassures her girlfriend, leaning down to capture Quinn's lips again.

"I-oomph..." She is interrupted by Rachel's lips. "Ra-"

Rachel giggles joyfully, pressing their lips together once again.

"Rachel... I'm serious."

"Stop worrying Quinn."

She moves off of her girlfriend and settles by her side, wrapping her arm over Quinn's torso and resting her head on Quinn's shoulder.

"The door is closed. Besides we're not doing anything wrong. The only reason as to why I still haven't told my dads is because..." She trails off thoughtful.

"Yeah?" Quinn inquires craning her neck to look at her girlfriend, as she wants to hear the reason why Rachel hasn't told her dads about their relationship, because hello? They would have to be supportive. So she can only guess that Rachel is afraid that they might be opposed because of their past; because of how Quinn treated Rachel.

"It's complicated..."

"Everything about us is complicated." She says as a genuine smile spreads across her face.

Rachel takes a deep breath.

"I'm not ready yet."

"What you mean?"

"Things will change here, Quinn..."

"You think they-"

"They'll love me as much as they love me now, if not more." She smiles. "But they'll be the target of outrageous assumptions. They've been through so much; we've been through so much. I can't... I just... I don't want to put yet another burden on their shoulders. I don't want people using me to condemn them." She huffs upset.

"Hey,"

Quinn props herself up and cups Rachel's cheek.

"That's really nice of you, but it's not your responsibility. It's not your fault that people are stupid, Rach. "

"I know but..."

"It's okay... I get it. " Quinn leans down and pecks her girlfriend's lips. "I'm not gonna tell my mom anytime soon so... I'd rather have you like this," She looks around the room. "Behind closed doors, rather than not having you at all...I mean I can't go back to pretending, pretending that I don't like you or that I don't want to be doing this..."

She presses their lips together more passionately and soon she is on top of her girlfriend, exploring every part of Rachel's mouth.

"Hmm... that's a good point. I don't want that either." Rachel says as Quinn's lips are still very close to her own.

"Rachel! We're home!"

Rachel sits up quickly and looks at her girlfriend with a confused expression.

"I thought they were going to stay out longer." Quinn says disappointed. "And I told you I heard something..."

"I thought that too; I'm going to check it out." Rachel pecks her girlfriend's lips and leaves her bedroom.

Sighing soundly, Quinn lies down and crosses her arms under her head.

Not long after and Rachel is back. She goes inside the room and closes the door behind her, leaning against it.

"So?"

"We kind of have some visitors... Apparently my dads and their friends had some issues at the restaurant..." She bites her bottom lip lost in thoughts.

"Visitors?" Quinn sits up.

"Yeah." She nods absentmindedly.

"I have to go."

With Quinn's voice indicating her disappointment Rachel is brought out of her reveries.

"How are you going to get out?"

"Your window." Quinn informs calmly.

"No way, it's too dangerous baby." Rachel says as she moves towards the bed.

Delighted with the endearment Quinn smiles and gets on her knees, moving closer to her girlfriend as Rachel is standing on the bed side.

She wraps her arms around Rachel's shoulders and tightens her hold playfully.

"Can I call you that too?" She says as she bites Rachel's neck tenderly.

"What?" Rachel giggles. "Baby?"

Quinn nods her head.

"That depends..."

"On what?"

"Are you going to stay?"

"Stay? What do you mean? I thought you didn't want your dads to find out about us?" Quinn releases her girlfriend and places her hands on Rachel's hips as the brunette pouts.

"I know..." She shrugs. "That doesn't mean I'm content with the current relationship you guys have or the animosity between you guys."

"Uh?" Quinn gets confused. "I wouldn't say we have a relationship. They hate me."

"They don't!" Rachel says promptly as Quinn stares at her in disbelief. "They don't baby." She cups both of Quinn's cheeks as the blonde wraps her arms around Rachel's waist. "It was just a lot of misunderstandings. They'll love you, I promise." She kisses the blonde tenderly.

"Okay." Quinn licks her lips. "Wait. What do you mean they will love me? What are you up to, Rachel Berry?" She says with concern as she gets off of the bed.

"Nothing... I will just tell them I have a friend with me." Rachel informs looking at the floor to avoid eye contact.

"What? Rachel!" Quinn shouts but them covers her mouth in regret.

"It's okay... don't worry. We-"

"It's not okay." She whispers dramatically. "They will throw me out of here!"

"Quinn!" Rachel exclaims impatiently. "That's never going to happen, because I will never let that happen." She holds Quinn's hand and locks their eyes onto each other. "Never. Okay?"

The blonde nods ever so slightly and Rachel presses their lips together in a quick kiss, but before she can pull away Quinn grabs her by the waist and kisses her girlfriend with urgency and passion.

Breathless, Rachel smiles and rests her forehead on Quinn's.

"At least stay a little while longer? They won't notice; they are going to order some food and have dinner with their friends..."

"Just a little bit longer then."

Rachel beams foolishly.

"Now where were we?" Quinn says seductively pulling her girlfriend onto the bed with her.

"Rachel?"

They hear Hiram's voice coming from the other side of the door.

"Bathroom?" Quinn inquires with a quirked eyebrow. Sighing frustrated, Rachel nods and sits up as Quinn gets off of the bed and goes to Rachel's bathroom.

After she smoothes her clothes a little Rachel opens her door.

"Yes?"

"You have a visitor baby girl. Finn is waiting downstairs." He informs patiently. "Do you want me to tell him to come up here? Or..." He trails off unsure.

"I'll go and see him downstairs daddy, thank you. I'll be there in a second."

"Okay. But if you want to bring him here so you can have more privacy- I mean to talk!" He exclaims horrified.

"I get it daddy." She giggles.

"Good, by the way, did you eat? You can join us if you want."

"Don't worry about that, just go enjoy the time with your friends."

He nods with a big smile on his face.

"I'll tell Finn you're coming."

As soon as Hiram is out of her sight she closes the door again.

"Did I hear that right?"

"Uh... I don't know... what did you hear?" She crosses her arms over her chest defensively as she looks at the floor.

"Finn is downstairs?"

"You heard right."

"Send him home." Quinn says annoyed.

"I will." She presses her lips together eagerly. "Nicely and politely." She adds carefully. Rachel turns around to leave but Quinn stops her grabbing her arm.

"I actually want to hear it. I think you should get rid of his false hope once and for all."

"What do you mean?"

"Bring him up here."

"Here in my room?" Quinn nods and Rachel opens her mouth in confusion. "With you here?"

"I'll be in the bathroom."

As she figures out Quinn's intention, Rachel releases her hand from Quinn's hold.

"You don't trust me."

"It's not that."

"Really?"

"Yes Rachel. Can you do this? Please." She pleads in a low voice. "For me?"

Rachel sighs soundly and nods.

"Okay. But it's really not necessary. I'll be very quick. I don't know if you'd noticed but I have better things to be doing with my time instead of talking to Finn." She says seductively.

"Yeah? What would that be exactly?" She gulps as Rachel gets closer and presses her mouth on Quinn's ear.

"Use your imagination..." She smirks and pulls away, leaving a dumbfounded Quinn behind.

After a moment, she recomposes herself and goes into the bathroom to hide. Not long after Rachel returns with Finn right behind her. Quinn hears their voices and tenses when she notices how relaxed Finn seems to be. So what if they dated? He can't walk inside her girlfriend's bedroom like Rachel is his girlfriend.

She assumes he sits his giant body on Rachel's chair judging by the noise she hears.

"So..." He starts.

"So?" Rachel inquires calmly.

"Is there something wrong? I mean, you've been avoiding me once again. You don't even answer my phone calls..."

"I'm not... I'm..." She sighs as she fidgets with her hands. "I'm busy..."

"With what? It's summer break."

"I don't know Finn. I have my things... my dance classes... stuff..."

"Can't you find time for me?"

With that Quinn almost loses her cool, but she starts counting to ten in her head. She doesn't want to make a scene as Finn is the last person that needs to know about them now.

"Okay." Rachel says patiently, sitting on her bed and looking at the boy in front of her. "I'm going to be honest with you. I don't want us to get back together."

"What?"

"Let me finish." She says serious. "I think you and I need to try and be friends. I would say it's the best thing for us."

"Is this about the senior year thing? Is it because you think I'm going to stay in Lima and you will leave to go to New York? Cause I told you already, we don't have to think about those things now..."

"It is not about that Finn. And I want you to respect my wish."

"Fine!" He says huffish as he raises his hand. "I don't get you. When we're not together you do everything to get me back and then when I want us to get back you change your mind?"

"You do pretty much the same thing." She says upset. "And that's why I think we're not going to work anymore..."

He stands up annoyed.

"You say it now, but as soon as school starts, you will be chasing after me. But it's cool. I can wait; at least I don't have to hear all the time how I'm not doing anything nice with you all summer."

Rachel opens her mouth surprised and chuckles in disbelief. She stands up, but Finn holds a hand up to stop her.

"Don't. I know the way out."

As soon as he storms out of the bedroom Quinn exits the bathroom.

"Did he just execute a storm out?" Rachel frowns comically as she closes the door behind her and walks towards Quinn. "On me?" She points her index finger to her chest.

"I think he did." Quinn says smiling. "Idiot." She rolls her eyes.

"Anyway. I think he won't bother me again."

"So," Quinn gets closer to her girlfriend with a smirk on her face. "Now that we're finally alone-" She is interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Rachel..." Leroy calls out.

"What now?" Quinn whines as she leans her forehead on Rachel's. They are brought out of their little bubble as they hear the knob creaking. "Did you lock the door?" Quinn asks with panic in her eyes.

Rachel shakes her head while she quickly puts a good distance between them, just in time.

"Ra-"

Leroy stops mid sentence as he spots the pink haired girl standing in front of him.

"What's going on here?" He says irritated as he looks at Rachel, seeking some kind of explanation.

"Quinn is here." Rachel says a little tense.

"I know. I'm not blind dear." He says through gritted teeth. "I thought your father said Finn was here."

"He left." She informs getting closer to him.

"Oh really?"

"Dad..."

Leroy interrupts her holding a hand up.

"I thought I made it pretty clear I didn't want her in here." She looks at Quinn and then back at his daughter. "You disobeyed me. And let me guess? She came over when we were out?"

"Yes, but-"

"There's no but Rachel!" He raises his voice a little louder than he intended. Once again the presence of the blonde girl or better, the pink haired girl, makes him lose his temper more than he thought was possible. He is not sure why though; his guess is that he is just being super protective as he knows how much distress the girl in front of him put Rachel in.

"Are you going to let me talk or you're going to be all dictatorial on me?"

He stiffens and gestures to her to go on as Quinn observes him attentively. Sure, she knows he is Rachel's father and his actions are more than understandable, but she would do anything to protect Rachel. That thought puts a smile on her face (who would have thought something like this was ever going to pop up in her head?), but her display of happiness is misplaced by Leroy as yet another disrespectful act of hers.

"Is this funny to you Miss Fabray? I don't like to raise my voice to my daughter and I don't find it funny in the slightest, but you happen to disagree perhaps?"

Rachel that was stood with her mouth wide open while her father talked to her girlfriend turns to Quinn rather quickly as to prevent her to say something inappropriate. It's funny that the girl best known as the girl raised with good manners and full of charm, the kind of girlfriend to be introduced to parents, has not yet made an appearance to Rachel's benefit.

"It's not funny at all, sir." She says seriously, holding his stare. "I think I probably should go..." She says uncomfortably as she tries to communicate with her girlfriend through her eyes. She needs to make sure Rachel understands that she is just respecting Leroy's boundaries.

"No." Rachel holds her girlfriend's arm as casually as she manages. "Dad, Quinn is here because I asked her too. As I said before, Quinn is my friend."

"A friend who disrespects you?" He points out sarcastically.

"Dad, Quinn was just upset because she thinks I deserve more than Finn Hudson as boyfriend and you just had bad timing."

Leroy looks at Quinn suspiciously; he knows his daughter is very trustful and forgiving so he won't buy it that easily.

"I know from experience that Finn is a terrible choice for Rachel." Quinn starts carefully. "I know I have a bad way of expressing my opinion." She looks at Rachel for support and Rachel smiles at her in return. "And I'm sorry for what I said to you Mr. Berry. That was uncalled for and disrespectful on my part. I can see you're a good parent and I know you were just being protective of Rachel."

There she is. The good Christian girl Rachel needed. Her smile vanishes quickly though as she hears her dad's aggravated voice.

"I don't trust you."

He says straight to the point.

"Rachel thinks I don't know what you used to do, but it's my job as her dad to know everything that happens in her life, and contrary to your belief that she might have not trusted in us, we just believed that she was trying to be strong and that she was dealing with her own problems in her own way."

He gets silent for a moment and Quinn holds her breath preparing herself for the worst.

"However if she believes you are her friend. Even though I know she sometimes is a little too naïve." He turns to his daughter. "I'm going to trust in her in this."

"Thank you." Rachel beams at him getting close and hugging him tight. "Dad I assure you. It was all a series of misunderstandings. Quinn is a good friend." She adds as she pulls away from him.

"Alright... I can only trust you know what you're getting yourself into baby girl." He sighs tiredly as he gives Quinn a once over, inspecting her clothes, "I don't know why you want to be her friend Miss Fabray." He then turns to Rachel and his facial expression softens a little.

"You don't?" Quinn asks genuinely intrigued. "With all due respect Sir,"

Oh god no... Everything was going so well...

Rachel thinks as shakes her head subtly, trying to make Quinn let it go.

"You're depreciating your own daughter. I mean, why do I want to be her friend?" She frowns indignant. "Rachel is amazing. She is loyal and caring and supportive, she's everything one can ask for in a friend. I know where your doubt is coming from. I was awful to her. I treated her horribly and for that I'm very sorry." She keeps an unfazed look on her face. "If there's someone that shouldn't be willing to start a friendship here is Rachel, because I've been a terrible friend to her and not just in the past. I'm afraid."

She ends her ramble looking ashamedly at her girlfriend.

"While very touching, your speech is unnecessary. I know my daughter's qualities. What I meant is that girls like you usually value certain things. Popularity, power, labels... Rachel is above all that." He says calmly.

"That's not exactly true dad. I'm not a saint and you know it. I'd never do the things Santana and well..." She looks at her girlfriend. "Quinn did, but I'm still just a teenager. I can make mistakes too. Like the crack house incident."

Quinn feels her heart melting as she hears her girlfriend admitting her mistakes and flaws just to defend her.

"And stop judging her." Rachel says calmly but firmly.

"I'm not that girl anymore." Quinn informs him.

"Because you changed your clothes?"

"Dad..." Rachel complains upset.

"Alright, alright." He takes a deep breath. "I want to apologize for my behaviour at that grocery store too, Miss Fabray."

"Please, call me Quinn." She asks nervously and he nods.

"I said stupid things."

"It's okay..."

"It's not. And I'm sorry. But as I said before, you better be genuine about your wish to be Rachel's friend."

I actually want her to be so much more...

She thinks as she smiles and nods her head to him.

"I don't want you to hide things from me baby girl. Visits must be informed previously."

"Okay." Rachel nods calmly.

"Now I need you downstairs." He changes the subject and his face lights up with a big smile as if they weren't having a heavy talk just seconds ago.

"What for dad?" Rachel narrows her eyes at him suspiciously.

"Well, what's the point of having such talented daughter if I can't brag about it?"

"I don't judge you." She says playfully.

"We want you to sing for us."

"What can I say? I don't think I can deny my dad."

"You can't." He smiles adoringly at her and Quinn feels like she is spying in on a private moment.

"Actually." She glances at Quinn. "Quinn plays piano. I think we can perform an impromptu duet for you guys?" She says, looking at Quinn hopeful.

"Uh... I don't know... actually I..."

"Please?" Rachel bites her bottom lip and Quinn doesn't have it in her to deny her girlfriend.

"Okay."

"Great! You know, I've been dying to sing a duet with you again. I mean, I just think our voices complement each other so perfectly."

"I'll be downstairs. Hiram must be wondering what's taking me so long."

"I'll be there in a minute." Rachel informs him.

Leroy leaves the room and Quinn releases a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"He hates me."

"He doesn't." Rachel sighs.

"Maybe not now, but when he finds out we're actually not friends..." She trails off suggestively.

"He will love you. Because he will know you're not planning something evil."

"I can't feel any relief right now."

Rachel smiles at first, but then she pouts as something occurs to her.

"I hate lying to my fathers."

"Come here." Quinn embraces her tenderly and kisses her temple. "You'll open up to them eventually and they will understand." She pulls away to look into Rachel's eyes. "Okay?"

Rachel nods ever so slightly.

"And by the way, a duet? Really?" She questions her girlfriend.

"Yes." Rachel smiles excitedly.

"But Rachel, I can't sing a duet with you."

"Why not?"

"I could barely hide my feelings and my emotions when we did that first duet together, and we sang about insecurities and I don't know..." She says whiny. "They'll find out about us."

"I'm shocked that you think duets are supposed to be romantic in their nature. Duets can be fun and I have the perfect duet for us."

"I know that." Quinn says, rolling her eyes.

"So..."

Rachel kisses her girlfriend quickly on the cheek and goes into her closet to take out the music sheets she needs.

"Now let's go."

She takes Quinn's hand and drags her downstairs.

Rachel takes Quinn to the piano where the group of adults is gathered, some sitting, some on their feet. There are four plus Rachel's dads, Quinn checks.

"You joined us!" A blonde woman hugs the brunette girl affectionately.

"Yes, not that I was forced or anything..." Rachel glances at Leroy.

"Leroy!" The woman reprimands Leroy playfully, before she spots Quinn standing behind Rachel like a fish out of the water. "And who is this?"

"Oh! Yes of course!" She gestures to Quinn. "This is my friend. Quinn Fabray."

They all stop in their tracks and the room becomes quiet for a moment.

"Hi." Quinn greets them as she waves her hand shyly.

The blonde woman breaks out of the momentarily stupor they were all in and gets closer to Quinn.

"Hi." She stretches her hand to the pink haired girl. "I'm Kate."

"Nice to meet you, Kate." Quinn says politely as she shakes the woman's hand.

"This is my husband Michael." A tall black man offers a hand to Quinn and she shakes it politely.

"Nice to meet you."

"And these are Mary and Alice." Rachel introduces the two brunettes standing close to her dads. Mary the smallest of the pair goes and hugs Quinn tenderly. Alice just acknowledges her with a nod of her head.

"So, Leroy told us, you're going to sing for us?" Mary asks Rachel with a smile on her face.

"Yes!" Rachel beams happily. "And Quinn is going to help me as she is a fellow glee club member."

Quinn sits on the piano's bench feeling more nervous than she should be. Smiling genuinely, Rachel places the sheets carefully so Quinn can read them.

As soon as she sees the song Quinn frowns at her girlfriend, silently saying 'really Rachel'?

"They'll like it, I promise..." Rachel says for only her girlfriend to hear.

Quinn sighs and rolls her eyes, but nods her head to indicate that she is ready to start.

She starts playing and Rachel almost forgets she needs to start singing as she is entranced by the sight of Quinn Fabray playing piano flawlessly before her. But as she is Rachel Berry she manages to go on with the music.

When you're down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights

Quinn doesn't know how, but Rachel manages to sing it like she truly means it from her heart or something, but also quite innocently. But then again, Rachel was always genuine about her friendship offer. She was always there for Quinn, even when Quinn was too much of a bitch to accept Rachel's offer.

She focuses on the song again as she sings the chorus with Rachel.

You just call out my name,
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.

Rachel gestures to her to sing the next part.

If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
Soon I will be knocking upon you door.

The brunette stares at her girlfriend with a serene smile on her face like she is subtly asking if Quinn means it. And Quinn nods ever so slightly, with a hint of a smile on the corner of her lips.

Their interaction goes unnoticed to the whole group. Well, the whole group except for one person. She doesn't know now, but in the close future, this performance will help her figure out what the real nature of the relationship between Quinn Fabray and Rachel Berry really is.

Rachel Berry, right now, is just focused on her singing and she does her best as always and they all listen to her in awe.

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't let them.

In the final part they all sing along with the girls.

You just call out my name,
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.

To the final lyrics Rachel places her hands on Quinn's shoulders as they sing together.

Ain't it good to know
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know
You've got a friend.

As soon as they finish, the group applaud enthusiastically.

"That was amazing girls." Kate claps animatedly as she is amazed by their performance. "I guess today we really needed to be reminded that our friends are all we need." She says meaningfully.

"Why today?" Quinn asks curiously. "If I may ask?"

"Just one of those days where the world reminds us that we still have a long way to go before things get better."

"It's your fault my dear, with so many nice guys in Lima you had to marry a black man?" Michael says playfully.

"Yeah it's totally Kate's fault." Hiram confirms as they all nod along.

Even if she is a little bit confused right now, Quinn can tell they are joking. Before she can ask any more they hear the doorbell ringing.

"That's our food!" Hiram shouts animatedly.

"Okay, dining room everyone." Leroy demands happily as he walks towards the hall to pay for their order.

"You girls are joining us right?" Kate asks fondly.

"We don't want to intrude." Quinn states as she glances at Rachel.

"Quinn is right. My dads have already to deal with me the whole week." Rachel completes mockingly.

"Kate, they don't want to spend time with a bunch of old and annoying people." Alice teases her friend.

Kate nods knowingly. She was a teenager once.

"I'm certainly not annoying." Hiram complains playfully.

"Sometimes you are." Rachel mumbles.

"I heard that." He narrows his eyes at his daughter as she giggles happily.

When they are finally alone, Quinn takes Rachel's hand in hers and pulls her aside.

"What did she mean by that?"

"Kate?" Rachel smiles affectionately as Quinn nods. "They had some kind of issue at the restaurant they were at."

"What kind of issue?"

"Apparently one of the customers made some nasty comment and my dad wanted a retraction. They wanted the restaurant to deal with this kind of behaviour. But the manager said he didn't want any trouble. So my dad said he just lost his best customers as they always meet up there."

Quinn nods paying attention to Rachel's every word.

"Michael is my daddy's best friend. And Mary is my dad's best friend. They've known each other since forever. Of course they are all friends anyway, and I do love Kate and well... Alice too..."

"I get it..." She informs calmly as she gets thoughtful. "Alice and Mary are..."

"A couple? Yes." Rachel answers promptly. "They are quite the group aren't they?"

"Yeah... and I don't think there's a gayer place in Lima than your house."

"Don't be silly Quinn." Rachel says in faux seriousness. "There's our glee club."

Quinn pauses for a moment before they look at each other and burst out laughing.

"It's true though." Rachel says as she controls her laughter.

"Yeah..."

Her smile spreads across her face as she nods amused. Suddenly something occurs to her. Dealing with the prejudice must have been awful, but she can't help but think that growing up in the Berry household was an amazing experience for Rachel, if her constant state of happiness is any indication.

"Hello?" Rachel asks as she notices that her girlfriend zoned out.

"I was just thinking that it must've been awesome to grow up here..." She caresses Rachel's hair. "I mean, I know you probably went through a lot, but..." She trails off.

"I get what you're saying. And yes." She nods her head playfully. "It was amazing."

"I think I'd better go. We don't want to push it too much. I really thought your dad was going to throw me out."

"And I said I wasn't going to let that happen."

"I know." Quinn raises her hands dramatically. "I'll call you when I get home."

She kisses Rachel's cheek just in case and smiles as Rachel pouts. She then looks around quickly and pecks Rachel's lips.

"Much better."

"Walk me to the door silly."

When they get there they find Leroy and Hiram, who went to help his husband minutes ago, closing the door and holding plastic bags full of boxes of Chinese food.

"Hi girls." Hiram says tenderly. "Are you leaving already Quinn?"

Standing by his side Leroy rolls his eyes at his husband. Hiram clearly doesn't have the same opinion that his husband has regarding their friendship. Although, when it comes to Rachel, he is just as Leroy. He just thinks however, that Quinn was just a teenager (and still is) and that she seems to have changed.

"Yes Mr. Berry." Quinn informs him politely.

"My name is Hiram." He says teasingly. "And okay then, if you must. Drive safely sweetie." He gets curious. "I didn't see your car though."

The girls look at each other quickly.

"I parked a few blocks away." She informs guiltily as Leroy sighs judgmentally.

"And don't worry, I will drive safely." Quinn smiles at him.

"Let's go H. The food is going to be cold." Leroy says as he passes by the girls (including an open mouthed Rachel) and this time Hiram rolls his eyes.

"Sorry about that." Rachel opens the front door and they walk out of the house. "Dad is usually very kind and polite... I don't know what-"

"Rachel it is okay, really." Quinn cuts her off as she intertwines their fingers and they start walking towards the sidewalk.

"It's not." Rachel drops her eyes to the floor. "You're my girlfriend." She adds in a low voice.

A wide smile forms on Quinn's face as she thinks Rachel couldn't get any cuter. She stops walking, lifting Rachel's chin with her hand, making her girlfriend look up at her.

"He has the right to be like that. Besides he didn't forbid us or anything. Soon he will realize that I'm not here because of some stupid joke, and that I'm genuine about our friendship, which I am by the way. I want us to be friends."

"Just friends?" Rachel teases.

"Obviously not."

They start walking again.

"We suck at being friends anyway." Rachel mumbles playfully.

"And why is that?"

"Because we're hot for each other."

"Cocky, aren't we? Who said I'm hot for you?" Quinn arches her eyebrow.

"Puh-lease..." Rachel says playfully. "Just confess it already."

"But it's a sin. I can't confess that out loud or else I'm going to hell."

Rachel stops in her tracks as Quinn bites her lip as to prevent herself from laughing.

"Quinn Fabray!" Rachel slaps her girlfriend's arm. "That's not funny."

Quinn pouts playfully.

"I almost forgot. I'm taking you on date this Saturday, so make yourself available."

"For you?" Rachel smirks. "Always."

"Good." Quinn pecks Rachel's lips very quickly. "Now I really have to go."

She reluctantly lets go of Rachel's hand and walks towards her car as the brunette watches her go. It's just when Quinn finally gets inside her car that Rachel turns around and goes back inside her house.

As she closes the door and leans her back on it, Rachel is certain of two things: one is that she is undeniably in love with Quinn Fabray (well duh!) and two is that she really despises Russell Fabray.

Rachel goes to her bedroom, when she gets there and as she looks at her bed she sighs soundly. All she wanted was to spend the night with her girlfriend, now everything she has is her empty bed. She pouts and takes her phone, and with a smile on her lips she starts typing a message to Quinn.

Moments after and her phone is lighting up signalizing that she has an incoming text.

Quinn: hey baby ain't it good to know?

She smiles from ear to ear as she shakes her head amused.

Rachel: What?

Quinn: that you've got a friend...

She is still with her eyes glazed over the phone when she notices that Quinn is calling her.

"Silly..." She says as soon as answers the call then she throws herself on her bed.

And they spend the rest of their night talking to each other over the phone.

As always I'd really love to hear you guys.

Just wanted a light chapter cause the next one is going to be angst and NO, Russel Fabray is not going to be some kind of psychopath who will torment them. In fact he will barely appear in this story, but yes Rachel has a reason as to why she thought that.
