I'm gonna be honest, sometimes if feels like you guys don't like me or something, cause I update a chapter and I barely get reviews, I was even getting used to it, because, okay, some people doesn't like commenting.
But this time I got none. Maybe you guys don't like me, maybe I should stop writing here, I don't know. I'm a little sad.
But here's another chapter in case you guys are still interested. I'll try to finish this story as I said. It's hard without support but, anyway...
Chapter 13:
The three words.
"Why did you go there? I Was busy…"
"Smoking?"
"No." She says it in a petulant way. "I was hanging out with the girls."
"Yeah, I feel like you've been hanging out with them more than with me."
"I feel the same way about you and Finn."
Rachel places her smoothie on top of the kitchen's bench in a very forceful way and storms out to her bedroom. They had just arrived from school minutes ago, Rachel first as she came with Finn. She was preparing their smoothies when Quinn arrived.
School has started and it has been a tense week for them, especially with the whole fake boyfriend thing. Rachel is living as if she has a double life. Finn being a sloppy boyfriend was never as appreciated as it is now.
Then, there are moments like this. When Quinn's jealousy kills their vibe.
Technically, she knows it is stupid of her to even think these things, let alone, say it aloud. It was her idea after all.
"Rachel…" She sighs as she knocks on the door. She thought Rachel locked herself inside her bedroom.
"It's open."
She gets in.
"Why would I lock it?"
Rachel asks with her focus on the computer in front of her.
"Because I screwed up and you're mad at me."
Quinn mumbles with a barely there voice. Rachel decides to ignore it.
"What are you doing?" Quinn asks, sitting on the edge of Rachel's bed.
"Nothing."
"It doesn't seem like nothing."
Silence.
"Okay." Quinn nods, frustrated. "Santana and Brittany came to talk."
Rachel stops what she was doing and looks at her girlfriend.
"Before you came over to talk to me. They wanted me to be part of the squad again. I said I can't. Told them some bullshit about being with friends who appreciates me for who I am. "
"Glee club appreciates you for who you are."
"Rach…"
The brunette gets back to her previous task.
"I heard Finn was slushied."
"You seem happy about that."
"Not happy. I am just thinking. Finn is a white straight guy. He is popular, he dated two of the most popular girls in school and yet he is a target the moment he steps out of the comfort zone."
"But that's the point. I'm always a target Quinn, whether I'm gay, Bi or straight. People already think I'm a loser."
"You're not."
Rachel raises a hand up.
"Let me finish."
With her eyes on her girlfriend, Quinn bites down on her bottom lip, apprehensively.
"I'm not saying he is revolutionary, most of the time he is just a selfish boy. He likes to sing, that's why he is on Glee. I'm not saying it's harder for him than it is for Kurt, for example, but Finn represents some sort of change."
She smiles as something occurs to her.
"I've seen it since day one. You know how I was always so very ambitious. At first, I thought he could be a threat, but then I realized he could be very useful. It is the reason why I got infatuated, I confess. He was the quarterback; my life was going to be slightly easier."
She says; her eyes glazed over as her mind goes back in time.
"That's my point." Quinn interrupts her girlfriend's thoughts.
"It doesn't work that way." Rachel focus on Quinn again. "Finn is going to be a target too. Because of this, because he is messing with the status quo."
"It is still not the same. We're two girls and…" Quinn sighs. "And there's my mom. I'll be kicked out for sure. We won't manage to hide or keep it a secret, especially in Glee. And you know they are a bunch of gossipers. She'll find out."
Rachel doesn't say anything, she just gets back to her computer.
"Look I'm sorry." Quinn tries out.
"I hear that a lot lately."
"I know. It's second nature okay."
"No, it's not okay."
"Baby, I'm not blaming you, I'm not saying I don't trust you. But it doesn't change the fact that I get frustrated when I feel that you are spending more time with him than you are with me."
"But this is part of the "plan"" The brunette does air quotes in a sarcastic way.
"Being with the skanks it's also part of the plan."
"A stupid part of the plan."
"Here we go again…"
"Do you really have to smoke?"
"I'm not gonna lie, I like smoking."
Rachel rolls her eyes. And they get silent once again.
"This is our chance to get it right?" Quinn says with a husky tone.
"Something like that." Rachel smiles as she remembers her speech under the bleachers.
"What was that speech all about by the way?"
"I improvised. Did you like it?" She asks a little cynically. "Couldn't ruin your cover, you know? I wasn't going to go there and say, hey baby, why weren't you in Glee?"
"That'd be nice, actually."
Rachel laughs hard; she doesn't think Quinn was going to be so calm about it.
"What are you doing anyway?" Quinn points to the computer.
With a loud sigh, Rachel turns her chair around to face her girlfriend.
"I went to Miss Pillsbury with Kurt today."
"And?"
"It seems I was aspiring the wrong college."
"What you mean?"
"Julliard doesn't have a musical theater program."
Rachel takes the pamphlet Miss Pillsbury gave to her (Not the one about dating her hag) and hands it to Quinn.
"NYADA?"
"Yes. And by the way, Kurt and I are going to a meeting."
"A meeting?"
"Yeah, full of nerds and Broadway stars wannabe. My kind of thing."
Quinn giggles.
With her eyes full of enticement, Rachel stands up and goes towards her girlfriend. When she is right in front of Quinn, she places one knee between Quinn's knees and forces them open so she can stand right in between Quinn's legs. The pink-haired girl watches Rachel's motions with rapt attention.
"You promised." Rachel says leaning her head down to kiss her girlfriend.
"Sorry."
It's all Quinn can manage to say before she places her hands on Rachel's waist, sliding them down, slowly, passing by her girlfriend's round butt and stopping on a slightly "respectful" area, behind Rachel's thighs. They certainly have not gone all the way, but they are progressing towards this scenario.
Rachel deepens the kiss, sliding her tongue in, eliciting a moan to escape from Quinn's mouth. The pink-haired girl pulls her girlfriend closer, encouraging Rachel to straddle her.
"You own me your breast." Rachel says and regrets her choice of words immediately, closing her eyes forcibly.
"I own you what?" Quinn says in surprise.
"You touched my boob baby." Rachel says whiningly. "And teased me with the promise that you were going to let me touch yours."
Quinn giggles.
"Oh yeah… I remember."
She grabs Rachel by the neck and pulls her into a passionate kiss. Then she takes Rachel's hand and takes it to the hem of her shirt. Rachel gets the message and she takes the shirt off right away. Still on top of Quinn, the brunette unclasps the bra and slides the straps down in a slow motion, her brown eyes locked on hazel ones. She places her hands on Quinn's shoulder and pushes her girlfriend gently so Quinn can lay down on the bed.
"You're so beautiful."
Rachel says reverently as she leans down and starts kissing her girlfriend's neck. She keeps going down until she reaches the spot she desires, for now, at least. As soon as she puts her tongue on the nipple, Quinn gasps, breathing more erratically.
"We should stop or something is going to happen." She warns pleadingly, even though, stopping is not exactly what she wants right now.
"Why? Are you okay?" Rachel places her hands on both sides of Quinn's head and looks down at her girlfriend, searching for reassurance.
"I'm more than okay. It's just that, if you don't stop now, we are going to have sex, right here, right now."
Rachel stays still for a few seconds. She is really taking into consideration this option as she ponders her situation. On the other hand, she is not fond of the prospect of having sex in a hurry. Her dads are going to arrive at any moment after all.
"We should…" Rachel trails off as she tries to recompose herself.
"I think we should talk about that first." Quinn says as she puts her bra on.
"I don't want to talk about it. I wanna do it."
Quinn is speechless for a few moments; this was not what she was expecting from Rachel. Actually, she was ready to get a PowerPoint presentation. Or something like that.
"I know what you're thinking. I'm Rachel Berry, I'm always prepared. But that's the point, I don't want to be prepared. I want to be open to everything and I don't want to freak out about it or do a research. I just want to be me and sometimes I'm insecure, I'll be insecure about my body. I'll be insecure about being good. I'll be-"
"Rachel breath."
"Okay. I got carried away."
"A little."
They smile at each other.
"I also meant that we should talk like…" Quinn opens her eyes in an exaggerated manner. "Talk."
Rachel doesn't get it at first but as Quinn's cheeks start getting flushed, it dawns on her. Quinn wants them to be open about this subject; she wants them to talk about it without restraining themselves.
"You mean you want us to talk about sex, like…"
"Yeah. Whenever we feel like it." She gestures her hand. "Even when we're texting"
A smirk appears on Rachel's lips.
"Quinn Fabray! Do you want to send me naughty texts?"
This time, Quinn is the one smirking as she crosses her arms over her chest and looks away.
"Maybe…"
"Because I'm all for it."
"Wait. Are you going to use words that I'll have to look in the dictionary?"
Rachel takes one of her pillows and throws it at her girlfriend.
"So funny. Now come." She stands up and leaves her bed. "Help me in my college research."
"Rachel…" Quinn whines.
"That's what you get for that comment about Finn."
"Ugh! And I thought I was getting away with that."
"Not so easy."
Quinn's "plan" however did not include the arrival of someone very especial to her. Actually, the most especial person in her life, besides Rachel, that is. Shelby is back in town, which means, Beth is back to her life or rather, she will in a very near future, at least, that is what Quinn is planning right now. She watches her girlfriend pacing around the bedroom, as she is herself mulling somethings over.
"I was pissed with you. Especially after that ridiculous video you did with Sue."
"If you're going to lecture me, save it. Mr. Shue already did the honors."
"So I've heard. And he was right, you know. Even though I don't like the thought of him reprimanding you."
"See what I mean when I say Glee club is full of gossipers?"
"Quinn."
Rachel says in a serious tone.
"You're pissed with me. Okay." Quinn crosses her arms over her chest, self-conscious.
"I said I was pissed. Now I'm too worried about something more important to think about that stupid video or even Glee club for that matter."
The Glee club diva starts pacing around her bedroom again.
"Shelby is back." She states, at last.
Sitting on Rachel's bed, emotionless face, Quinn is impassive. She knows what Rachel is going to say.
"I got so focus on my own feelings that I forgot that this is something huge for you too." The brunette stops and looks at her girlfriend. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Quinn says right away.
"You're not. I can see it in your eyes."
"You said you were going to be patient."
"And you said you were going to trust me."
"I'm not ready to talk about that yet."
A single tear runs down her face and she quickly wipes it away. Seeing it, Rachel gets closer right away.
"Don't hold back, please." She places Quinn's head on her chest. "You don't have to be strong all the time."
With that, she lets go. She cries her heart out. She is not ready to talk about everything she is feeling, how she wished she was matured enough to keep Beth, it is too painful, but she is ready to be this vulnerable in front of someone other than herself. And Rachel understands her, even though she didn't say a word.
They end up laying on the bed. Rachel holds Quinn close as they cuddle on her bed, with Rachel being the big spoon.
"What if your dad comes in and finds us like this?"
Rachel giggles, but then keeps a straight face.
"Nothing could take you from my arms right now."
"I love you."
"Besides, if my dad comes in, I'll just say that I'm comforting my best friend." Rachel says, as the weight of what Quinn just said did not sink in yet.
Quinn remains silent, a little apprehensive and insecure. Was it the best moment? She asks herself as she is about to freak out a little, but it finally hits on Rachel that Quinn just said those especial three words.
"You what?" She asks, barely audible.
Nibbling on her lip, Quinn remains silent for a moment. Then gathering her courage up, she turns her face around, so she can look at her girlfriend.
"I love you."
In a happy state of mind, Rachel gets speechless, just for a few seconds though, because she wants to say those words right back at the girl nestled in her arms.
"I love you too Quinn. So much…" She states passionately, pressing their lips together right after.
"Thank God." Quinn jokes as she turns around completely so she gets face to face with her girlfriend. "I thought I said it in the wrong moment."
They giggle.
"I wanted to say it a while ago, I just… I was being careful. I'm an idiot. I just didn't want to scare you away. I'm known for being too passionate, right?"
"Hey. Don't say that. I love that about you."
Rachel twists her nose playfully.
"Yeah sure."
She has been mocked because of her drive and passionate way, after all. Quinn being one of those who teased her because of it.
"I'm serious. I love that about you. It doesn't matter what I said in the past. I mean, I know it matters as I was an idiot, and I'm sorry."
"You're making up for me." Rachel pecks her girlfriend's lips.
"Good." Quinn reciprocates the kiss. "And I'm glad I said it first."
"Are you going to put it on your vows?"
"I don't know. Are you going to marry me?"
She looks at Rachel's eyes, meaningfully.
"Are you proposing to me Quinn Fabray?" Rachel asks, laid back.
"Of course not. Who would do that? We're still in high school…"
They smile at each other. They know that what they feel for each other is deep and strong, but they also know they are definitely not ready for that kind of commitment.
"But just for future reference, are you going to say yes?"
"If you promise me something." Rachel says, caressing Quinn's hair.
"Anything."
"Promise me you'll always be honest with me? Because I'll always be honest with you."
"I promise."
She is lying though and she hates it. She wants to be honest with her girlfriend, but she cannot tell Rachel what she is planning to do. She wants her baby girl back and she will do everything to achieve it, even if she has to dye her hair blonde again and be the perfect student. She is even going back to Glee club. If she is honest with herself, she is kind of tired of the punk phase. Besides, she scared enough people away.
Silently asking for forgiveness, she kisses Rachel's forehead tenderly.
She has to do it.
