That Illegal Kiss... – Chapter 10/Pass or Fail –

[Hey there everyone, so welcome to chapter 10 of That Illegal Kiss...! In the last chapter Amu and Kukai were offered a contract to perform with Utau, they came to an agreement that as long as they passed everything they would agree to a trail period to see if they are fit for the job. Also Amu and Ikuto went on date that wasn't really a date...how is that going to finish? Please R&R/Fave/Follow! I do not own Shugo Chara! or the characters involved, just the storyline ;) xx]

Amu's POV

I was holding Ikuto's hand from across the table, I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was unsure of what was going on and that made me giggle slightly.

'We're still sticking to the agreement Ikuto. I'm just happy that you feel so strongly, it kind of shocked me...you really are a true gentlemen Ikuto.' I smiled at him as he looked away in an attempt to hide his small blush. He failed as I began to giggle slightly once more winning a glare from him.

'You can be evil Amu. I was doing all of this to make you happy, not to allow you to poke fun at me.' He sighed as I gripped his hand slightly firmer. 'I'm sorry, I just don't see you blush that often.' I replied cheekily as he sighed once more. We let go of each other's hands as our waiter came to the table, instead of the bitch at the front desk we had a young man serving us, he looked a little like Miss Sanjo, I tilted my head as he look at me oddly.

'Good evening, my name is Kairi and I shall be your waiter this evening.' The young man adjusted his glasses as he held his notepad and pen. 'We'll have water please.' Ikuto said as I looked over at him, he smirked at me and winked causing me to blush. 'Very well sir, what else can I get you?' Kairi asked as Ikuto looked over the menu.

'We'll have two sweet and sour chicken with rice.' Ikuto said as I sighed and sat back into my chair. 'Is that ok with you Amu?' Ikuto asked as he looked over the menu at me, as I looked at him I bit the inside of my mouth slightly, his eyes looked so seductive. 'Y...Yeah that's fine!' I yelped as I began blushing and looked away. I heard him smirk as he shut the menu, Kairi write down our order before bowing and making his way over to the bar.

'That's Sanjo's little brother.' I looked over at Ikuto who was watching him walk away. 'How can you tell?' I asked as I followed his gaze. 'He was at the meeting.' He said with a bored tone before looking back at me. 'Sorry about ordering for you, I just don't want to spend too much.' I sighed as I felt the table shake slightly and heard Ikuto stand up and walk over to the window.

'I worry about you Amu.' I looked up at him with confusion as he looked out the window at our town, I stood up next to him and touched his hand gently. 'What do you mean Ikuto?' I asked as he gripped my hand and turned to me. 'I fear that you are going to make the wrong decision, I don't want you dating someone else.' He pursed his lips as I stared up at him. 'Ikuto, I will date who I feel I am most suited to date. Right now my studies are important to me, I know that you care about me but we are still just teacher and student.' I sighed out as I looked down at our town before bringing my attention back to him as his hands landed on my shoulders silently shocking me.

'I know that Amu, I understand that, I just don't want to see you go off with someone else. I know that there are risks, we've gone over this many times but I physically wouldn't be able to hold myself back if I saw you in the hands of a man who can't truly take care of you.' I sighed out in frustration. 'You mean if I decide to date someone like Kukai?' His eyes were full of shock but frustration as well.

'Yes, I know that he is on medication now and is your best friend again but how do you know that he won't snap again? Maybe run out of his medication and hurt you again? He can't look after you because he doesn't know how to. I do Amu, I am more experienced than him and you know it.' I breathed out a long sigh as I took back to my seat.

'I know, you never let me forget that you are more experienced. You need to stop reminding me Ikuto.' I snapped as he bent down beside me and held my hands in his. 'You shouldn't be so angry about it Amu. I don't say it constantly to annoy you, I say it constantly so that you know I know how to treat a women the way she should be treated.' He said as he touched my face gently.

'But you've been with god knows how many people before you met me. I don't know how far you've gone with them or how far you expect me to go with you if we do eventually date!' I bit the inside of my mouth to stop myself from shouting, I looked at him and my heart sank once I saw the hurt expression on his face.

'Is that what this is about? You think I've had other people in my bed and that I only want to bed you?' Ikuto's voice sounded as if he had been shot by a thousand bullets, I shook my head as I held both of his hands. 'Ikuto...I...I didn't mean it like that...' I tried to say as I could feel a pain in my chest.

'Oh yeah, then how did you mean it Amu?' His eyes had anger brewing in them as his voice had a sharper tone to it. 'I only meant that I am scared Ikuto, you've been with other people before and I am just afraid about how you will act if we get to that stage. I don't want what we have got between us to leave-' I was cut off by his finger to my lips as a tear slipped down my cheek.

'Enough Amu, please just stop. I have only been close to bedding someone before you. It hurts that you think I am like that...I told you I have only ever felt this way about you and only you. I've never felt an overwhelming urge to protect and keep someone so close before.' I wiped my tears away before feeling his lips crash against mine, I gasped as I felt his tongue plunge into my mouth and begin exploring every inch of my mouth, I continued blushing as he slowly pulled away and stared into my eyes.

'Believe me now?' I nodded slowly as I stood up with him and hugged him tightly, I felt like such a bitch for snapping at him the way I did. I bowed to him before making my way to the ladies to tidy myself up. Tonight had changed so much for me, I had been offered a contract to sing alongside Ikuto's sister and he was making me feel so special, I decided that there was no denying it, I was falling in love with Ikuto. I couldn't admit it to him, at least not yet. I sighed as I looked at my reflection, my mascara had run down my cheeks slightly, I took my makeup wipes out of my bag and fixed myself up before preparing myself for dinner.

4 Months Later... – Ikuto's POV

I waited inside my house, today was the day that Amu found out if she passed her exams, I felt nervous yet excited at the same time. We had stuck to our agreement after our dinner 'date', she texted me this morning to let me know she was going to the school alone then coming back to mine afterwards. I sighed as I looked at the clock on my sitting room wall '12:45' I stood up and began pacing the length of my sitting room, she had been there since 8am, I was beginning to worry. I looked at my phone hoping I had just missed her latest text, still nothing. I grunted as I grabbed a hold of my jacket and made my way to the door, I froze as I heard a small knock and then a ring on the door.

That was the way that Amu let me know it was her, I threw my jacket back onto the coat hanger and opened the door. 'So, how'd you do?' I asked as she jumped at me causing me to fall back, she landed on top of me and began giggling. 'I PASSED!' She yelped as I sat up hugging her tightly. 'Well done Amu.' I sighed into her hair as I felt relief wash over me. I paused as I heard a cough from behind Amu, I looked up to see Kukai standing there with his papers too.

Amu and I stood up as he came in and shut the door behind him. 'I passed too, just in case you were wondering.' He rolled his eyes as they took their shoes off. 'Well done Souma, I didn't think you had it in you.' I punched his arm playfully with my signature cocky smirk as I led Amu into the sitting room.

'What took you so long? You had me worried.' I sat down as Amu sat down next to me closer than usual, I blushed slightly as she grinned at me. 'I had a call from Utau's manager asking how results were and they want me and Kukai to start training within the next few weeks for the trail period, then they want me to record a single!' She jumped up and down in excitement, I looked at Kukai uneasily.

'Are you sure you don't want to sign up with a different label Amu?' I asked as she stared at me. 'Are you kidding me? Easter is the BIGGEST record company in the industry! Why wouldn't I want to sign up with them?' She frowned slightly as I stood up and went over to the window.

'They don't treat all of their singers with respect Amu. Utau has only gotten so far because she has flirted her way to the top. There have been some cases where she almost had sex with her manager to get a better contract. If you don't get good sales they will make you pay them.' He sighed as Kukai sat down on the arm of the seat Amu was sat on.

'But she is amazingly talented...she shouldn't have to do that...' I could hear Amu's voice breaking, I sat back down next to her and put my arms around her. 'I'm not saying it will be the same for you and Souma. You just need to be extremely careful. Both of you.' I shot a gaze up at Kukai who was staring at the ground.

'Utau almost had to have sex to get a better contract?' His voice was filled with anger and a touch of betrayal. He had been hanging out with Utau recently, the two of them were getting pretty close. 'This was a good 2 years or so ago. She got out of it because I threatened to expose them. Me and Utau have a secret recording of them for just in case. I don't want to put you through what she went through.' I hugged Amu tightly as I felt her shaking slightly.

'I heard rumours about them beating one of their best singers to death while I was growing up, I didn't want to believe it...is that true as well Ikuto?' My body stiffened and Amu looked up at me before I looked down at her. 'They beat him to a bloody pulp and left him to die Amu.' I said with a choked voice.

'How do you know they left him to die?' Kukai asked with a serious tone to his voice. 'Because when we got there he was already near death.' I sighed out as Amu placed a hand on my face gently. 'You knew him?' I nodded slowly. 'He was my dad.' I felt her go into shock as I sat back putting a hand to my forehead.

'I am so sorry Ikuto...I had no idea...' I could hear her voice go muffled, I looked at her to see both hands to her mouth. 'He's ok now, he fled the country after recovering and promised us that it would be over. But after Easter found out he survived they came by the house and threatened to take mother away telling me that we had to pay back father's debts. That's when they Utau singing and forced her to sign a contract.' I sighed as I bit the inside of my mouth to calm myself down.

'I don't want either of you signing the contract. Neither of you are going to go through that, I know that they will find a way to use you both as leverage. Utau's contract should be coming to an end within a month, I know they are looking for some type of loop hole right now, they'll offer to take Utau off of their books if they can keep you two. I'm not going to let that happen.' I jumped up from my seat and punched the wall.

I felt Amu's arms wrap around my waist and Kukai's hand on my shoulder. 'We won't let them use as leverage.' Kukai said with a determined tone. 'I won't be in any danger Ikuto, I promise.' I heard Amu whisper as I put my hands over hers.

'They've found a loop hole already...' I froze as I heard Utau's shaky voice, we all turned to see Utau standing at the doorway holding her phone by her side. 'They just rang me...father had an unfinished list of songs in his safety deposit box...they forced mother to open it...' Kukai was the first at her side, she wrapped her arms around him as tears fell down her cheeks.

'How many months have they added to your contract?' I asked as Amu let go of my waist to allow me time to walk over to Utau. '24...' My heart dropped as Amu came to my side, I felt her shaky hands take mine, I looked at her small forced smile and knew what she was about to say.

'Don't you dare even think about it.' I warned her as she put a finger to my lips and walked over to Utau. 'How bad do you want out Utau?' I felt my legs begin to wobble as I knew what came next. Utau stayed silent as she turned her head to look at Amu. 'I'll take the contract if they will let you out of it.' I felt my legs give in as I dropped to the floor.

'No you won't Amu. Ikuto is right, we were talking about it last night. They would eat you up whole, they would take things a step further with you because they enjoy to torture and torment people. They've been torturing Ikuto and me since we were very young. You wouldn't be able to handle it.' Utau sniffled slightly before stepping out of Kukai's arms and put her hands on Amu's shoulders.

'I know another company that are looking for performers right now. You and Kukai will have no problem getting in, they're currently searching for ways to get me out legally without exposing them completely.' Amu sighed as she nodded in agreement before I tackled her to the floor.

'Don't you EVER scare me like that again! Do you even understand what they would have done to you!?' I cried out as she looked up at me with shocked eyes, I could see tears forming in her eyes as my tears slowly dropped onto her pale skin.

'We'll be upstairs if you need us...' I didn't look up at Utau but I knew she had taken Kukai's hand and took him upstairs, I continued to hold Amu down as tears streamed from her eyes. 'I...I just wanted to help...I know you care about your sister...' I felt myself deflate as she leaned up and hugged me around my neck causing me to drop onto her petite body, she cried into my neck as I slide my hands around her.

'If they had heard you say that you would've been gone forever...they would've made sure that I would never see you again...' I whispered into her hair as her arms tightened around me slightly. 'Ikuto...I...I'm sorry...I...I just want you to be happy...' I sighed into her hair as I picked her up into my arms before sitting on the sofa with her on my lap. 'Amu...What would make you think that I would be happy with you working for them?' I asked as she looked into my eyes while blushing.

'I...I thought you'd be happy because Utau would be free...' She whispered as I gripped onto her tightly and closely. 'Don't ever think that again. I do love Utau because she is my sister...but you will always come first.' I wiped her cheeks clean of tears as she stared at me with a small sniffle.

Amu's POV

I continued to stare at his sore eyes as I wiped some of the tears that had begun to stain his cheeks, I brushed some hair out of his face as I could see his worried expression, I sighed slightly before looking away. 'She is your sister Ikuto...I could never let you think of me more than her...I know you love me but I may not always be here...' I felt him tense up again and put his hand on my chin causing me to look at him.

'What do you mean by that Amu?' I could see his eyes shouting out to me desperately, he knew what I was about to say and it pained my heart to see him look defeated. 'You took the contract already...didn't you?' I shut my mouth and nodded slowly. 'I was going to surprise you...I didn't get the full contract, just the trail. I'm going to help you take them down Ikuto, from the inside.' I smiled at him as he pushed me off of him gently, I looked up at him with a broken heart.

'I don't want you near me, they could hurt you to get to me Amu. I need you to leave.' I felt my heart shatter as I stood up and walked over to him. 'I...Ikuto...' My voice was shaking and so was my hand as I reached out to him. 'P-Please...' I pleaded as he shrugged my hand off of him, he turned to look at me with tears in his eyes.

'You need to leave, now.' I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I had tears in my eyes as I tried to hug him. 'You can't do this Ikuto! Please not today...' I took a step closer to him and gripped onto his top, he grabbed my hands and gently pulled at them to try and get me to release my grip. 'Please Amu! Before it's too late, you need to leave.'

I shook my head as I felt the tears begin to stream down my face, he looked away from me with a pained look before I grabbed both sides of his face and kissed him deeply, pouring all of my love into my kiss, as I felt him begin to kiss back I pulled back and wrapped my arms around his neck tightly.

'It will always be you, Ikuto. You are the only one who holds my heart...I...I love you...' As I whispered into his ear I felt his body go rigid with shock before letting go of him and getting my shoes on. I looked back at him one last time to see him touch his lips as tears began to run down his cheeks, then it became too painful and so I left the house...and the man that I loved behind.

[So there you have it! She has finally chosen who she loves and for all of you AMUTO fans, it's good news. I wanted to leave this as a cliff hanger and I know that lots...if not ALL of you are going to hate me for this, but please try to understand that as I writer I try to make the story interesting to keep you all coming back. I will update next Friday as I have promised you all. I know it's a long wait but you also need to understand that I am busy during the week, Friday (believe it or now) is my RELAXATION day. Well...the day time is anyway haha, I do part time modelling, acting, dancing, YouTube videos, writing different stories, cleaning for my disabled friend and at the weekend is either celebrating friends birthdays, special events (a.k.a. VIP parties or expos FTW! :D) or being a Disney princess at children's parties. So yeah, I'm pretty busy, please keep reviewing/Faving/Favouriting. I love you all! Peace out ;) xx]
