"God, help me,"
I don't pray that often, and I wished I moved faster but because of my slow instincts now I'm about to be rammed into my death. I hear screams of terror around me, I dropped my coffee, idiotically, I braced for impact, and when I thought it was about to hit me... it... didn't?
"What?"
I saw a flash of black, and went unconscious.
I woke up, my mind was fogged from the grogginess that came after sleeping for quite some time. I slowly turned my head around, assessing my surroundings. I am on a bed, attached to me is an IV drip, a waiting chair was beside it, a television was hung opposite of my bed, with a window on the other wall, and a curtain was between where I was and what I assumed to be the exit on the other side.
"A hospital?" I thought, squinting my eyes from the bright fluorescent light.
Upon remembering what almost happened, I jolt up from the bed, head throbbing, and my ears ringing. I took a sharp breath from the pain. "What happened? I thought I was dead," I glanced over the side table, there were pills, and a jug of water, with a glass beside it. A note said "You'll need this when you wake up," stuck to the glass. I immediately took them, and gulped down the water. "Ugh, still don't like pills," I said to myself. My throat was still hoarse, I poured myself another glass and drank it slowly.
I was wearing a hospital gown... it doesn't look right. In fact, this hospital room did not resemble anything that I'm used to seeing, I looked around once more. There were scrolls and frames of a foreign language. To my surprise, I read through them easily. I started to question this situation more.
"Oh right, my phone," I noticed my things was on the chair, with my clothes neatly folded, and my bag on top of them. I immediately grabbed my bag, and checked the items inside. My laptop, pencil case, sketchbook, notebook... I rummaged through the pockets and finally found my phone. "No service," I muttered as I saw the signal was marked with an 'X'. The date says it has been 3 days since the incident, I scrolled through my notifications, reading the texts from my family, friends, and... fiancé.
"Where are you?"
"I hope you're safe..."
"Please reply back ASAP, I've been waiting for 2 hours..."
"What time are you going home?"
"I left your stuff with him,"
"Yo, I'm actually at your place to drop off some of your stuff, your fiancé said you weren't home yet..."
"Mom asked if you and your man are coming over this Thursday"
As I kept going, I felt a lump on my throat, and started to sob silently. I couldn't text them back because there isn't any signals here, and now it sinks into myself that I'm in this unknown place, in an unknown land, and I don't know where I am, I don't know what happened, what to do, I don't know why I'm here—
I heard knocking on the door. My thoughts stopped abruptly, and I wiped my tears with the hospital blanket. I hear footsteps and a shadow nearing my bed. I was scared, and tried my best to control my trembling, I was taking short, ragged, breaths and covered my mouth, hugging my bed.
The curtain pulled back, and revealed a pretty familiar face.
"What on earth is happening...?"
