In Her Hands

CHAPTER EIGHT

Buffy and Angel sat in silence, Spike had scrambled for the nearest exit once all the information had been relayed to Buffy. Which if anything had pissed her off more, she was hoping to talk to him properly but with a blink of an eye he'd bolted.

Angel was trying to come up with something he could say that would make any of this better for her, but so far he had nothing.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly

She sighed heavily "I just don't know"

"It's understandable, it's big decision"

"Ya think?" She rolled her eyes

"Well I would've thought the choice would've been easy" Angel said flatly

"Right... I'm supposed to just come here and make my decision in a second with no hesitation without thinking of the repercussions?" She said with a tinge of anger

"Well yeah... We're talking about Spike here"

"You just don't get it do you?"

"You're in love with him?" Angel asked

"Yes... No... I don't know" she sighed again "I care about him"

"And me?"

"Do you even have to ask?"

Angel shrugged

"I love you Angel, I have for a long time. But this is something I've always dreamed about... What would happen if you ever became human, would we work out?"

"Of course we would Buffy, my being a vampire has always been the thing that has stood in our way. And now you have the choice to change that" Angel told her

"No Angel, you stood in our way. For my own good remember?" She said angrily

"I admit it wasn't one of my best moments"

"I have to think about this" she sighed

"Okay... I get it" he said

Spike wandered around Slayer Inc, he found himself wandering around in circles in hopes of not running into Buffy. It didn't go unnoticed by Faith and some of the other Slayers. When finally Spike settled on hiding out in the kitchen Faith approached him

"Hey big guy" she smiled "I would've thought you and B would've been wrassling out the personals by now"

"Angel had first dibs" he shrugged

"Tell you what... How about a spot of violence and maybe a beer or two down at the bar?" She suggested

"And why would I do that?" He asked

"Okay Blondie, have it your way. I just thought you might wanna take your mind off the fact that B and Angel are cooped up in a room together talking about old times"

"Well I wasn't thinking about that until just now" he sighed

Faith grimaced "My bad... Look I know what it's like okay. Being compared"

"And you'd know because?"

"Hello? Secondary Slayer here, I'm always runner up to her"

"I suppose I could do with a drink" he told her

Buffy and Angel had been talking for hours, playing catch up with each other's lives. When the question came that Angel had been dreading since Buffy walked through the door.

"Why didn't you tell me? About Spike?" She asked "Why didn't you say anything?"

"Well I couldn't"

"Or wouldn't?" She sighed "Is this some jealous vampire crap?"

"No... Well maybe a little. Either way it wasn't my decision" he told her

"Right... I guess I should talk to him huh?"

"I guess so" he sighed "I just want you to know that whatever your decision... I'm here for you"

"Thank you" she smiled

The two of them stood in an awkward silence for a moment "It is really good to see you" she smiled

"You too" he said closing the space between them.

Buffy hugged him tightly she took a step back and looked into his brown eyes. Before she knew it their lips were locked in a passionate kiss

"Whoa lovebirds" Faith chuckled

Immediately the two of them broke apart to see Faith and Spike standing in the doorway. Buffy's eyes met Spike's, he looked away from her in disgust.

"Spike..." Buffy tried to explain, but he left, with Buffy trailing after him.

"Man I'm so glad I'm not in her shoes" said Faith
