Chapter 5 Leaving and Training

It was close to a year since I came to Erid Luin and I was settled in. Dis and I stood in the kitchen talking as we made some food. Thorin came in dressed for traveling clothes.

"Where are you going?" Dis asked.

"I got word that our father was spotted near Brea. I am heading out to look for him." Thorin said.

"I thought Thrain was dead." I said.

"His body was never found. I am gonna go look." Thorin said, kissing Dis's check and gives me a hug. I saw Dis shake her head as Thorin left and Dwalin came in.

"Ready lass?" Dwalin asked. I stood in my fighting clothes with my sword on my hip. My red hair was pulled back into a bun as I smiled at him. Dwalin wanted to see me fight.

"I am." I said.

"Have fun and don't be rough on the girl." Dis said.

"I won't, Dis. Stop fussing." Dwalin growled. I followed Dwalin out of Erid Luin and into a area right outside the mountain. Fili and Kili were already dueling each other. I watched for a little bit as Dwalin went to get a sword.

"Let's see how good you are lass." Dwalin said with a smile as I turned and looked at him. We started sparring. He seemed to be taking it easy on me. I met his sword blow to blow with ease. Fili and Kili had stopped what they were doing to watch us.I spun his sword around and got it out of his hand. "You are a skilled fighter, lass. You were taught well." I smile up at him.

"So are you Master Dwarf. Though I think you were taking it easy on me and holding back." I said. Fili and Kili snickered behind us.

"Just wanted to see how good you were. I know if if was a real fight you can fight good yourself." Dwalin said. I dueled with Fili and Kili for awhile under Dwalin's watchful eye. The brothers didn't take it easy on me and I met their skill, making Dwalin smile.

Dwalin's POV. The lass was skilled and even with the lads not taking it easy on her. She kicked their butts.

"She is as skilled as dwarf." Balin said, coming over.

"Aye she is." I said.

"The attack on the fairies must have been unexpected or they wouldn't have been slaughtered." Balin said.

"Not all were warriors. Celeste was the only one of her siblings that knew how to fight." I said. Balin nodded.

"What's your attraction to the young girl?" Balin asked.

"I don't know." I said. Balin didn't push as Celeste's laughter filled our ears as she and Fili got into a wrestling match.

"She is a good lass. Least she is fitting in well here." Balin said.

Thorin's POV. I sat in front of Gandalf in the Prancing Pony. We watched the two men that were going to attack me leave.

"I heard you have Celeste, the heir to the throne of the fairies living among you." Gandalf said.

"What about her?" I ask.

"I recommend that if you do this quest you bring her with." Gandalf said.

"She would be more safer in Ered Luin then with us." I said.

"Her powers would be helpful on this quest if needed. And you dwarves are protective of your people. She would be well cared for." Gandalf said.

"Then its settled. she will come." I said. Gandalf nodded. The quest to reclaim my homeland was coming and I was ready to take it back from the dragon.
