To this day, Tsuna still does not quite know what happened. One day, out of literally nowhere, people started trying to eat each other and the dead started walking again. The entire world was in a state of panic. In the initial outbreak, so many people were lost.
Namimori, used to the strange, just followed the lead of the Hibaris. Kyoya Hibari's parents didn't really care what happened, so the responsibility of Namimori fell onto Kyoya's shoulder. The city willingly followed the child, him being one of the strongest people in the city.
Tsuna only kept his mother and himself alive as long as he did due to his intuition. One day, his intuition literally forced him to go down an alley, and there he saw Kyoya surrounded by many of the undead, some of them trying to bite his unprotected back. This was the boy who protected his mother, the only person he cared about. Tsuna blacked out, and when he came to he was surrounded by bodies and covered in blood with Kyoya staring at him with something akin to respect in his eyes.
After that gruesome battle that Tsuna had no memory of, Kyoya dragged Tsuna kicking and screaming to his "office" at Namimori middle school, dragging him past a confused Tetsuya Kusakabe. Kyoya demanded to know what the orange flames that came out of him were, and when Tsuna told him he had no idea Kyoya decided to keep him around anyway, and he trained Tsuna how to fight. Eventually they figured out how to access the flames, finding out that Kyoya had purple flames. The more he used the flames, the faster he was able to think and the less clumsy he was.
Everyone who used to call him Useless-Tsuna quickly learned that he was not useless as he quickly climbed up the ranks and basically became Kyoya's right hand man.
Kyoya hates crowds, a fact which is commonly known by everyone, so the day that Tsuna managed to defeat him in battle, Kyoya called a town meeting, plopped Tsuna down in front of everyone and declared him to now be in charge. NObody was shocked, as Tsuna was basically doing everything anyway. Suddenly, their positions switched, Kyoya becoming Tsuna's right hand man.
Soon after that fateful day, Tsuna's intuition screamed at him to go to the rooftop of Namimori Middle School, only to find Takeshi Yamamoto standing on the edge with his shoes sitting neatly 5 feet away. Tsuna talked to him, trying to convince him to step off the ledge. As Takeshi took a step toward Tsuna he slipped and fell. With no hesitation, Tsuna dived after him and activated his flames to slow the descent.
Takeshi joined the disciplinary committee (Kyoya wouldn't let Tsuna change the name) and became Tsuna's left hand man)
On another day, shortly before the walls around Namimori were finished, Tsuna once again followed his instincts, only to find the Sasagawa siblings surrounded by the undead, with Kyoko's on Ryohei's back with her foot twisted at a wrong angle. Activating his flames (which got much easier to use the more he trained his body and the more he used them) he quickly took care of the zombies. He took them back with him to the office where they were quickly patched up. They joined the committee, and became key members of it. (Where Kyoko goes Hana Kurokawa goes, so another member joined too.)
Kyoko and Ryohei turned out to be powerhouses once they activated their flames, becoming some of their strongest fighters. Hana was mostly brains, which was a godsend (they definitely needed somebody in the inner circle to try to level out all the brawn).
One day while out for a walk around the fully walled Namimori, his intuition screamed at him to run to a nearby road. When he got there he saw a purple haired girl who was missing an eye trip in the road in front of once of the convoys. He ran and tackled her out of the way. After giving the convoy driver a long lecture about civilian safety. Without even thinking about it he brought her back with her, finding out her name was Nagi ("but call me Chrome, Bossu"). She had indigo flames, and like the others quickly joined the inner circle.
Her flames worked great against the scavengers and people who thought they could take over Namimori, take what was his.
Tsuna gathered many people into his circle this way: Mochida (and wasn't that ironic), Haru, Shouichi, and a few more.
Under the guidance of this elite group of people, Namimori flourished and expanded. Word somehow got out about how Namimori was one of the safest places in the world, and people from all around the world started showing up at the gate. Some of these people knew about the strange flames, teaching them how to better use the flames and what the flames were exactly.
While doing a patrol around the walls, his intuition kicked on again, and he quickly scaled the wall to the outside much to the shock of the other people in his group. On the other side of the wall, he ran. He ran and ran until he came across a malnourished silver haired boy huddled protectively over a small boy with a huge afro as zombies closed in on them.. Tsuna managed to take all those zombies out without even activating his flames. As the last zombie went down a voice came from up in the tree "Is Lambo alright?"
The silver haired boy whipped his head up and when he saw Tsuna he prepared himself to fight, but as soon as he stood up he collapsed. Tsuna started toward the silver haired boy in worry, but was blocked by the afro kid. "Lambo will not allow you to harm Gokudera!" After reassuring the afro kid and the other kid carrying a large book who climbed out of the tree, he brought them inside where they were quickly ushered into the med bay.
After a long lecture of going outside the walls by himself, Tsuna went to the med bay to meet the new people. The silver haired boy thanked him and introduced himself as Hayato Gokudera and the kids as Lambo Bovino and Futa de la Stella. When they were discharged, Tsuna brought them home to his mother where she instantly adopted all three of them as her own. Once he was mostly better and had nutrients in him, Tsuna brought Gokudera into a group. (Kyoya talked to him later telling him to not bring back any more herbivores, but Tsuna won that fight).
One day Chrome just introduced a group of people that just appeared into town, introducing them as Mukuro, Ken, and Chikusa.
When Mukuro met Hayato and Kyoyo it was… explosive to say the least.
When adults in the form of babies showed up in Namimori nobody even batted an eye. Namimori had always been strange plus it was already being led by literal children so what's a little bit more weirdness?
Many scientists including Verde and Spanner showed up, and along with a doctor named Shamal took over the labs in determination of making a cure.
(Tsuna's dad showed up but honestly that's barely worth mentioning)
Many of the newcomers who come always seem shocked when they see how young the leaders of one of the strongest civilizations are, but they all had no choice but to get used to it.
Then one day it all went wrong, (at least in the opinion of most of Namimori)
Tsuna got bit.
The entire city freaked out, but Tsuna felt a strange sense of was immediately rushed to the labs where the scientist frantically worked on the cure to save the young, powerful sky.
Tsuna just leaned back on the chair they put him in and relaxed. He just Knew that everything would turn out all right.
