Chapter 6 Preparing for the Journey

Its been a couple weeks since Thorin left and I was training with Dwalin with Fili and Kili or working while studying with Balin. I was becoming fluent in the dwarven language. Thorin came back and nearly locked himself in his study after saying hello to Dis and I. We shared a worried look as Balin joined him in his study.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"I'm not sure." Dis said, eying the study door. Our friends came into the room and Dwalin came up to us.

"He summoned all of us for some reason. Something going on?" Dwalin asked.

"He hardly said anything to us when he came in. He went right to his study." I said. Dwalin nodded. Thorin and Balin came out of the room.

"Parlor now." Thorin ordered. We all went to the parlor. I sat on the couch with Fili and Kili. Thorin stood in front of the fireplace with Dwalin and Balin.

"I called you all here today to discuss something. Its brought to my attention from Gandalf the Grey that it is time to reclaim our homeland." Thorin said. Everyone looked at him in shock.

"But there is a dragon sleeping there yet." Bofur said.

"We are to find a way to take him down." Fili said.

"Yes. I am asking all of you including Celeste to join me on the quest to reclaim our homeland." Thorin said.

"Why me?" I ask.

"She be more procted here then out in the wild." Balin said.

"Gandalf requested she come with. Her powers will be useful. She will be proctected by all of us. And from what Balin and I'm sure Dwalin will agree. She is a skilled fighter like us." Thorin said.

"I'll keep an eye on the lass and protect her while we do the Journey." Dwalin said.

"I don't need protection." I said.

"We will all protect her." Kili said.

"Aye." The dwarves said.

"We leave in a few days. I will leave the day before you." Thorin said. We all stood and most of the dwarves left. Dis came storming in as Fili, Kili, and I stood talking of what we were taking.

"Your taking my boys without consulting me? Thorin. Why? Why after sixty years are you now deciding to do this?" Dis asked.

"They are skilled fighters and I knew they would not take no for an answer. The dragon has had the mountain for long enough. Now is the time." Thorin said.

"And what happens if your consumed by the gold sickness that consumed our father?" Dis asked. I looked up at that. I heard the story from Balin what happened to King Thor.

"I will not turn into my Grandfather, Dis. I swear." Thorin growled.

"I pray to Mahal that you don't." Dis said. She left to go to her room. I slipped away and into my room to get my bag packed. I grabbed a bag and packed clothes and couple of my books. A knock on the door came. Thorin came in.

"I brought you something that I had some dwarves working on." Thorin said, handing me a parcel. I took it and opened it. It was a durin blue coat with fur lining at the collar. "Thought you deserved one." I hugged him.

"Thank you." I said.

"You will be leaving with Balin, Dwalin, Fili and Kili." Thorin said.

"Yes sir." I said. Thorin left and I finished packing, eager to go on this Journey with my friends and family.

Few days later. I got in a red tunic with a corset wrapped around it. I wore black pants with my brown boots. My long red hair was pulled into a braid as I pulled on my new coat and grabbed my bag. I grabbed my weapons as Fili and Kili were mothered by Dis.

"Ma stop. We are old enough and we will be fine." Fili said. Dwalin and Balin came in.

"Come on Dis. Stop mothering them and let them be." Dwalin said as I finish putting my weapons on me. Dis hugged her boys and gave me a hug.

"Stay safe." Dis said. She walked us to the gates and gave us one last hug. We head out.

"Where are we going?" Fili said.

"To the Shire. To meet our Burglar." Balin said. Fili, Kili, and I shared looks as we walk towards the Shire.
