Chapter 7 Meeting Our Burglar

We arrived in the shire in the afternoon. We weren't suppose to go to the Burglar's house till night fall. We stopped at the Green Dragon and got seats for us and ordered food. I sat next to Dwalin as we waited on our food.

"So who are we meeting exactly, Balin?" I ask.

"His name is Master Bilbo Baggins." Balin said in a whisper as Hobbits looked at us funny. The dwarves were all bulky and scary looking. I could pass as a Hobbit but I wore boots. Dwalin was watching the Hobbits and some went the other way from him scaring them. I smack his arm gently. His eyes turn to me.

"Stop. Your scaring them. They are peaceful foke. No need to frighten them." I said.

"She's right brother." Balin said with a chuckle as our food and drinks were brought to us. We ate our food and shared small talk. The others were on the way. We all left at seperate times.

Nightfall came. Dwalin was going first and then Balin. I was going with Fili and Kili. Dwalin left and the Balin sometime after. Fili, Kili, and I head out.

"So we are looking for a mark on the door?" Kili asked.

"That's what Balin said." I said as we looked at the doors of the houses. We finally came to a house that had Gandalf's mark on the door. Fili rang the doorbell as I stood next to Kili. A hobbit I assumed was Bilbo Baggins opened the door. He didn't look happy.

"Fili." Fili said.

"Kili." Kili said.

"And Celeste." I said.

"At your service." We said with a bow.

"You must be Mr. Boggins." Kili said. I slap him.

"Baggins." I said. Kili flinched.

"Nope, you can't come in, you've come to the wrong house." Bilbo said, trying to shut the door, but Kili stopped him and we looked in.

"What? Has it been cancelled?" Kili asked.

"No one told us." Fili said.

"I hope your joking." I said.

"Can... No nothing's been cancelled." Bilbo said.

"Well, that's a relief." Kili said, pushing his way in. Fili let me go in first. I took off my jacket and weapons and hung them on the hooks that were in the hall. Fili started putting his weapons in Bilbo's arms.

"Careful with these, I just had 'em sharpened." Fili said. I shook my head at the brothers as I watched them.

"It's nice, this place. D'you do it yourself?" Kili said, scraping his boot on the edge of a chest.

"Kili. Don't be rude." I said.

"Ah no, it's been in the family for years. That's my mother's glory box, can you please not do that?!" Bilbo said. Dwalin came storming in seeing us and wraps an arm around me and pulls me into the dining room.

"Fili, Kili, Celeste. Come on and give us a hand." Dwalin said, pulling me into a room with Balin.

"Mister Dwalin." Kili said from behind us. We laugh. Balin gave me a smile.

"Let's shove this in the hallway, otherwise we'll never get everyone in." Balin said. We grab the table and move it into the hallway as other dwarves joined us along with Gandalf.

"Miss Celeste. Its wonderful to see you. I am sorry to hear about your family and people." Gandalf said.

"Gandalf the Grey. Its been awhile. Thank you." I said. I move off to the side as the dwarves begin raiding Bilbo's panty taking out all the food. Bilbo was trying to stop them and they were ignoring him. Fili and Kili came out carrying a barrel for drinking.

"Oh Mahal. This is gonna be an interesting night." I said as Bombur carried out three entire wheels of cheese.

"Excuse me. A tad escessive, isn't it? Have you got a cheese knife?" Bilbo asked.

"Cheese knife? He eats it by the block." Bofur said. I went to help Oin and Gloin carry chairs into by the table as Bilbo went ranting on. I back up and bump into Dwalin. He steadied me.

"I don't think he knew we were coming." I said as Dwalin and I watch the ranting.

"Ye. Come on lass." Dwalin stands holding a mug of ale as Gandalf counted all of us. Bifur comes up and talks to Gandalf in Khuzdul. I couldn't hear what he said.

"Yes, you're quite right, Bifur." Gandalf said. Bifur walks away. "We seem to be one dwarf shor."

"He is late, is all. He travelled North to a meeting of our kin." Dwalin said, taking a drink.

"He'll come Gandalf. He won't miss this." I said. Dwalin took my arm and led me to the table. Food was spread out over the table and I could hear my stomach growling as I sat next to Dwalin. The dwarves were eating and I quickly grab a plate of food before most of it was gone. We were laughing and enjoying ourselves.

"Bombur catch!" Bofur yells tossing food at his brother. Bombur catches it with his mouth. I listen to the cheers and notice Bilbo walk away in disgust and look sadly at his pantry that was now empty. Fili walks on the table, carrying ale. I snatched a cup from him and saved my plate of food before he knocked it out of his way.

"Fili!" I said.

"Who wants an ale? There you go." Fili said, passing out the mugs.

"Let him have another drink!" Dwalin shouted as Fili handed him a mug. I laugh in delight as Dwalin pours his ale into Oin's hearing trumpet. Everyone laughed as Oin splutters in anger and puts his hearing trumpet in his mouth and blows out the ale, making a squealing noise.

"On the count of three." Kili yelled. We pound our tankards togehter and count to three. We drank our ale. After a year with the dwarves I was use to drinking the ale all the way. We started burping. I was a short one. Ori stand and lets out the biggest burp. I laughed and caught Dwalin's eye and saw a twinkle as we laughed.

The meal was over and we left the table. Dwalin and I stood talking.

"It's good to see you laugh." Dwalin said.

"Guess I am having fun." I said, looking at him.

"Get ready." Fili said, heading towards Bilbo as Ori went to approach him. I could hear the dwarves that went back to sit at the table start stomping their feet and clinging silverware. Dwalin went to stand behind Bombur.

"Excuse me. I'm sorry to interupt, but what should I do with my plate?" Ori asked as Bifur went to the sink. Fili came over.

"Here you go, Ori give it to me." Fili said, taking the plate. Kili steps out as Fili tosses the plate to Kili. Kili throws it back to Bifur who catches it behind his back without looking at it. Gandalf had to move out of the way as plates were being tossed by the dwarves. I join the fun tossing plates.

"Excuse me, that's my mother's West Farthing crockery, it's over a hundred years old!" Bilbo yelled. I shook my head and caught Dwalin's eye. He gave me a wink and I had to look away to hide my blush.

"And can-can you not do that? You'll blunt them." Bilbo yelled.

"Ooh. D'hear that lads and lass? He says we'll blunt the knives." Bofur called.

"Blunt the knives, bend the forks." Kili sang.

"Smash the bottles and burn the corks." Fili said, bouncing a bowl off his arm and tossed it to me.

"Chip the glasses and crack the plates." I sang earning a smile from the dwarves as I toss it to Bifur after twirling it on my finger.

"That's what Bilbo Baggins hates." Everyone joined in. We tossed plates to Ori as he walked them carefully over to Bifur. "Cut the cloth and thread on the fat. Leave the bones on the bedroom mat. Pour the milk on the pantry floor. Splash the wine on every door. Plates were passed to Bombur to clean the crumbs and Dwalin tossed them to Bifur. I laughed enjoying this. "Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl. Pound them up with a thumping pole when you've finished, if any are whole. Send them down the hall to roll." I laughed as Fili looked like he was dancing as Balin bounced the plates back. We stocked everything clean onto the table. I came up to Dwalin who put a hand on my shoulder. I smile at him. "That's what Bilbo Baggins hates."

Bilbo pushed his way through and looked at the pile of clean dishes. Gandalf was chuckling at him as a look of relief came to his face. Gandalf sits down. A sudden loud knock on the door came and I saw Dwalin straighten up as everyone went quiet.

"He is here." Gandalf said.

AN: Whooo. That was fun. Love that song. Now the fun is over. Till next time.
