Chapter 26 Banishment and Iron Hill Dwarves

Dwalin woke me up the next day. I helped him get in his armor. He pulled me against him.

"Whatever happens. Stay safe and stay close." Dwalin said.

"I will." I said. He presses his lips against mine. I melt into his kiss. He chuckles.

"Keep this up and we won't be leaving the room." Dwalin said, against my lips.

"That won't be so bad." I said. I grab my weapons. We head to the front gate. We stood up with the other dwarves. I stayed at Dwalin's side as the elves stood in front of Erebor. I held my bow that was over my shoulder as Thranduil and Bard ride together to the front of the army as they approach the broken bridge. Thorin draws a bow and shoots an arrow at the ground directly in front of Thraunduil and Bard, who stop in surprise.

"I will put the next one between your eyes!" Thorin said, drawing his bow again. The dwarves cheer and shake their weapons. I stood quietly watching. Thranduil looks up angrily at Thorin. He tilts his head and several row of Elves towards the front pull out thier bows and nock their arrow, aiming at the dwarves. The dwarves, but me and Thorin, duck behind the rampids. I roll my eyes at their reaction as Thranduil raises his hand and the elves put away thier animals.

"We've come to tell you. Payment of your debt has been offered and accepted." Thranduil said.

"What payment? I gave you nothing! You have nothing!" Thorin said. I share a look with Dwalin, wondering what they meant.

"We have this." Bard said, pulling the Arkenstone from his robes. Thorin lowers his bow.

"What? How?" I whisper.

"They have the Arkenstone? Thieves! How come you by the heirloom of our house? That stone belongs to the king!" Kili yelled.

"And the king may have it. In our good will." Bard said. He put the Arkenstone away "But first he must honor his word." Thorin starts whispering to himself.

"They are taking us for fools. This is a ruse. A filthy lie." Thorin said.

"Thorin." I said. He ignored me as Balin looked shocked at Thorin's mental state. Dwalin looked worried for his best friend.

"THE ARKENSTONE IS IN THIS MOUNTAIN! IT IS A TRICK!" Thorin said.

"It's no trick. The stone is real. I gave it to them." Bilbo said. We all turn and look at Bilbo. Thorin turns on him.

"You!" Thorin said.

"I took it as my fourteenth share." Bilbo said.

"You would steal from me?" Thorin said.

"Steal from you? No. No. I may be a burglar, but I like to think I'm an honest one. I'm willing to let it stand against my claim." Bilbo said. Thorin laughs.

"Against your claim?! Your claim. You have no claim over me you misereable rat!" Thorin said. He throws down the bow and approaches Bilbo.

"Thorin. Don't." I said. He ignored me.

"I was going to give it to you. Many times I wanted to, but..." Bilbo paused.

"But what, thief?" Thorin said.

"You have changed, Thorin! The dwarf I met in Bag End would never have gone back on his word! Would never have doubted the loyalty of his kin!" Bilbo said. I saw the dwarves share looks as they understood what he was saying.

"Do not speak of me of loyalty." Thorin said. He turns to the dwarves. "Throw him from the ramparts." The dwarves step away from Bilbo. "DO YOU NOT HEAR ME?" Thorin grabs Fili's arm, but he pulls away. "I will do it myself." I ran and grabbed his arm. He turned and I slapped him hard. Dwarves gasped. Thorin looked at me in shock and then back handed me knocking me to the ground. Dwalin goes to me. "LEAVE HER." Dwalin stopped. He looked pain that he couldn't come to me. "You dare lay a hand on me. When I took you in after your people were slaughtered and treated you like a daughter."

"He's right Thorin. You changed." I said, getting up. I held my ground. "You always told me you never wanted to turn into your Grandfather. YOUR TURNING INTO HIM."

"I'll throw you both over." Thorin said. Dwalin grabbed me as Thorin grabbed Bilbo.

"Dwalin." I whisper hugging him.

"Ye will be fine lass." Dwalin said, hugging me close. Balin put a hand on my shoulder.

"CURSE YOU!" Thorin said. I watched as Thorin manages to grab Bilbo and begins pushing him over the rampart. The dwarves try and stop him. Dwalin held me close as I burry my face in his chest. "Cursed be the wizard that forced you on this Company."

"IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY BURGLAR." Gandalf's voice came. I looked to see Gandalf break through the crowd. "Then please don't damage him. Return him to me! You're not making a very splendid figure as King under the mountain, are you? Thorin son of Thrain!" Thorin let's Bilbo go.

"Fine. Then I'm sending the fairy with." Thorin said.

"What no?" I said.

"Thorin. You'll send her to her death." Dwalin said. Thorin spun on us and I flinch.

"You are no longer my ward. Get out of my site and you are not allowed to see Dwalin again." Thorin said. I felt tears come down my checks. I push away from Dwalin. Balin gave me a sad look. "Never again will I have dealings with wizards..." Bofur grabs me and Bilbo and pushs us towards the rope that was hanging.

"Go. I'm sorry lass." Bofur said. We ran towards the rope. "Or Shire rats!" Bilbo goes first. I look back at Dwalin and see him in tears as well. I start climbing down. "Or fairies." I land on the ground and ran with Bilbo to join Gandalf. I looked up to see Thorin looking at Bard.

"Are we resolved? The return of the Arkenstone for what was promised." Bard said. Thorin was breathing heavily as he looked at the ridge in the distance, like he was waiting for something. "Give us your answer." Thorin bows his head. A raven flies up to the ramparts, beside him. Thorin and the raven stare at each other.

"I will have war!" Thorin said. I saw Balin looked worried. A rumbling is heard in the distance. We turn towards the ridge which was now covered in troops, lead by a huge dwarf riding a battle pig.

"Ironfoot." Gandalf said. The dwarves started cheering. Thranduil yelled orders and the elves and Laketown people turn away and march towards the coming dwarves. Gandalf strides with them and Bilbo and I rush to join him.

"Who is that? He doesn't look happy." Bilbo said.

"It is Dain, lord of the Iron hills. Thorin's cousin." I said.

"Are they alike?" Bilbo asked.

"I always found Thorin the more reasonable of the two." Gandalf said. The armies come to a stop. We stood near the front of the army. Dain rides his pig onto a rocky overlook.

"Good morning! How are we all? I have a wee proposition, if you wouldn't mind giving me a few moments of your time. Would you consider... Just sodding off!" Dain yelled. Townspeople clutch their weapons and step back in fear. The elves pull out their swords and step forward. "All of you right now!" Gandalf steps forward.

"Stand fest!" Bard said.

"Come now, lord Dain!" Gandalf said.

"Gandalf the Grey. Tell this rabble to leave, or I'll water the ground with their blood!"

"There is no need for war between dwarves, men, and elves. A legion or orcs march on the mountain. Stand your army down!" Gandalf said.

"I will not stand down before any elf! Not least the faithless woodland sprite!" Dain said. I held back a laugh as he motions towards Thranduil. "He wishes nothing but ill upon my people! If he chooses to stand between me and my kin. I'll split his pretty head open! See if he's still smirking then!" Thranduil smiles as the dwarves of Erebor cheer.

"He's clearly mad, like his cousin!" Thranduil spoke. I ran forward.

"Dain please. Listen to him. I don't want to see you or your people slaughtered." I said. Dain ignores me and turns his pig around.

"You hear that, lads?!" Dain called. He goes to rejoin his army. "Come on let's give these elves a good hammering." I rub my temple. Dwarves are so stubburn. A dwarf yells out a comman and the Iron Hill dwarf raise their weapons and cheer. The elves perform some moves to put their shield and spear bearers at the front of the army. A rumbling came and I felt the ground shake. We turn and look at the spur of the mountain.

"Were-worms." I heard Gandalf mumble. I jump as massive worms, burst through the rock.

"In Durin's name." I said.

"Oh come on1" Dain yelled. The worms suddenly retreat into the tunnels they made. Something flies out of the hole and Bilbo had to grab me. "The bastard survived."

"Who?" Bilbo asked.

"Alvin." I said. He flew off into the sky. A horn blew and legions of orcs pour from the tunnels.

"The hordes of hell are upon us. To battle! To battle, sons of Durin!" Dain yelled. Dain and part of his army turn and rush towards the coming orcs. I pull out my sword.

Dwalin's POV.

"I'm going over the wall! Who's coming with me?" Fili called. We cheer and agree.

"Stand down!" Thorin shouted. I turn on him. It was bad enough he banished my one, but now he was ordering us to stand down.

"What?" I said.

"Are we to do nothing?" Fili asked.

"I said STAND DOWN!" Thorin said. Balin puts a hand on my shoulder as I watch Thorin walk away. We turn to watch.

Celeste's POV. Dain and his soldiers rush towards the oncoming orcs. The elves stay right where they are.

"The elves, will they not fight?" Bilbo asked.

"Thranduil! This is madness." Gandalf said. The iron hill dwarves stopped and build a shield wall with their shields. The orcs were fast approaching. I ran towards the shields. The elves leap over the shield wall from behind, weilding their swords. I ran and jump over and join the fight as the dwarves join the fight with the elves. Orcs were falling left and right. I sliced a head off of an orc. Dwarves were falling. I looked around as orcs were fighting the elves, men, and dwarves. Something flies at me and grabs me by the neck and slambs me into the ground. I grab his hand and look up to see Alvin standing above me.

"Hello sister. Missed me?" Alvin said.

AN: Yep he's alive. Had to save him for this battle. The battle of Erebor has started
