Chapter 31 Aftermath and Rebuilding

We head down from Ravenhill to the battlefield. Elves had the tents set up for survivers and for the healers. Bard and Thranduil came over to us.

"Glad to see you survived the battle, Thorin." Bard said. Thorin nodded.

"Lets talk about rebuilding Dale, Laketown, and Erebor." Thorin said. Thorin disappeared with Bard and Thranduil. Dwalin pressed a kiss to the side of my head as the Company and Dwarves go to deal with the dead. I head towards the healers tents to help the wounded. My healing powers were able to save a few dwarves and elves from death. I ran a tired hand through my hair as I helped Oin.

"Tired lass?" Oin asked.

"Very." I said.

"Come on lass. Its bed for you." Dwalin's voice came. I turned and saw him standing in the tent doorway, hands on his hips. I come up to him and he wraps an arm around me, pulling me close. I wrap my arm around him and lean into him as we walked. "The elves got a tent for us till Erebor is rebuilt"

"So Thorin settled things with Bard and Thranduil?" I ask.

"Aye he did." Dwalin said, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I smile tiredly. Thorin comes over.

"I won't keep you two long. Dwalin. I meant to aske you before. Will you be my Captain of the Guard now that we reclaimed our homeland?" Thorin asked. Dwalin looked shocked as I smiled up at him. I nudge him gently.

"I would be honored my King." Dwalin said. Thorin smiled.

"Get your wife to bed. We will talk more tomorrow." Thorin said. He smiled at me. Dwalin led me towards a tent. We entered to find a fire going and bed with furs. I pulled off my weapons as Dwalin got his off. I sat on the bed. I touched my check where I was punched by Alvin. I flinched as it hurt and knew I had a good bruise. Dwalin came over and took my hands.

"Ye had me worried lass." Dwalin said.

"I am sorry. I couldn't stand and watch family and friends be killed." I said. Dwalin pressed a kiss to my forehead. I pull him down on the bed. He grunted and pulled me to him. I wrap my arms around him and hugged him close as I rest my head on his chest. He ran a hand through my hair. I closed my eyes as sleep took me as Dwalin held me close.

As the months came. Erebor, Laketown, and Dale were rebuilt to their former glory. I was staying helping the women with the children. I got close with Bard's children. Dwalin would be back at our tent by nightfall. He always came tired but always had a smile for me. I was getting tired and hadn't felt well lately. I figured it was from the journey and didn't say much to Dwalin or others.

"Ready to move into Erebor?" Dwalin asked, coming into our tent as I got things set for the night. I turn and look at him. I stood in a dress. He grinned at me.

"You have the quarters ready?" I ask. Dwalin came over and pulled me against him.

"Everything is ready to go. We are near Thorin's quarters with Fili and Kili. So you are close to familly." Dwalin said. I go and get stuff packed and my weapons ready. Dwalin and I walk together towards Erebor. Erebor was starting to turn into its former glory. Dwarves from the Blue Mountains were on their way to Erebor and could be arriving in a month or so. Soon as the dwarves were here, Thorin planned to have the crowning to become King. Dwalin led me towards the Royal Chamber areas and opened a door. He let me go in. I smile at the sight. A fire was brewing in the fire in the fire place. Bookshelves were on the wall near the fireplace. Kitchen was open. There were quite a few bedrooms.

"It's perfect." I said. Dwalin grinned and pulled me into a hug. We kissed.

A few hours later we laid on furs on the floor near the fire after some passionate love making. I laid on Dwalin's chest. I stared at the fire as Dwalin fell asleep. I sighed in content. It was defently been a long journey but worth it.
