Chapter 33 Birth of a New Beginning

It had been nearly 7 months since Erebor was reclaimed and rebuilt. Bilbo and Gandalf had left to go back to the Shire. We all got in the swing of things. I helped in the healing quarters and did studies in the library. I was getting big with child and getting close to when the baby would be born. I was soon restricted to my quarters which didn't set well. Dana and Dis would come and keep me company when Dwalin was gone or Fili and Kili came to keep me company if the girls couldn't. Dwalin kept a close eye on me and we had a guard stay outside when he was gone to get word to Dwalin if the baby was on the way. I hated being cooped up.

It was Thorin's birthday and our friends decide to throw a party at Dwalin's and my quarters so I could be at the party. I sat in my favorite chair by the fire with a blanket with a cup of tea in my hand. Dwalin was laughing with Thorin as they enjoyed the antics of dwarves.

"How ye doing lass?" Balin asked coming over.

"Doing alright. Ready for the baby to be born." I said. Balin gave a knowing smile. He went to talk with Thorin. Dis and Dana join me as I lean back in my chair feeling the baby move and kick me in the ribs. I've been having slight contractions for a few days, but from what Dis said it was normal. I felt a shot of pain go through my stomach. I put a hand on my stomach and this time the pain wasn't going away.

"Celeste?" Dis asked, standing up and coming over to me.

"I think the baby wants to make an entrance now." I said. Dwalin ran over as the others looked.

"Get her to yer room." Dis ordered. Dwalin picked me up.

"What's going on?" Thorin asked.

"Looks like the new little one is gonna share yer birthday." Dana said. Thorin looked surprised as Dwalin carried me our bed. Dis and Oin shut the doors.

"Dwalin you should leave." Oin said.

"NO!" Dwalin and I shouted. I nearly screamed it as a contration hit.

"I'm not leaving her." Dwalin said as I cry out from another contration.

"Let him stay. Her contrations are getting closer together." Dis said. Oin went to check to see where I was at. Dwalin grabbed my hand as Dis grabbed blankets.

"I love you." Dwalin said.

"I love you too, but I swear if you get me pregnant again, you'll be sleeping on the couch for a decade." I said, through gritted teeth.

"Lass. The baby is crowning already. I'm gonna need for you to push." Oin said. I push and cry out as the pain was intense. A babies cry filled the room and I fall back on the pillows.

"Bless Durin. Ye got a girl!" Oin said.

"What?" Dwalin said, not sure if he heard right. Dis grinnned.

"You were blessed with a baby girl. Rare to have a girl on the first try." Dis said as she cleaned the baby and wrapped her up in a blanket. She set the baby in my arms. She was cooing with her hand in her mouth. I ran a finger over her check as Dis and Oin left to give us a bit. Dwalin sat on the bed and pulled me close to him.

"Welcome to the world, little one." Dwalin said, putting a hand on the blanket. The baby grabbed his finger. I smiled as I laid my head on Dwalin's shoulder. Heads popped in and Dwalin and I looked up.

"Come in." I call. The Company ran in and surround us. Balin got to hold his niece first.

"Mahal has truely blessed you two with a girl first." Balin said. Fili and Kili peered at her as she slept in Balin's arms.

"Oh. She is gonna be a little heartbreaker when she gets older." Kili said.

"What?" Dwalin growled. I shook my head at him.

"Oh yes. She is gonna have dwarves swarming to court her." Fili said.

"Not with her dad and uncles watching her." I said, earning chuckles from the dwarves. Balin passed her to Thorin.

"Wasn't expecting to share a birthday with my adoptive granddaughter, but a defenant surprise." Thorin said.

"What's her name?" Ori askeed. Dwalin and I shared a look.

"Caliphe. Its my mothers name." I said. The dwarves nodded in agreement as the dwarves pass her around gently. Dwalin pressed a kiss to my head as we enjoyed some peace and quiet.

Dwalin's POV. I stood holding Caliphe as Celeste slept peacefully after the birth. Caliphe slept nestled in my arms. I didn't think when I met Celeste that we would fall in love and now have a child of our own. I sigh in content as I press a kiss to my daughter's head. I put her in the cradle at the foot of our bed. I crawl into bed and pull Celeste close to me and heard a soft sigh.

"Thank you Mahal." I whisper as I kiss my wife's head and let sleep take me.

AN: So its a girl. Hope you like the name. Hope you liked. Epilogue is next. Till next time
