Thank you so much to my Twitter followers and for my FF readers! You keep inspiring me to write more and more when I started out feeling nervous! I appreciate all the reviews and kind words and I'm open to new ideas. This one is a little different from other stories. It might have some smut in it, might not. We'll just see where it leads. It is darker than my other ones, but it will have Damon, Elena and their daughter, Stefanie, in it. Twitter: frost_starlight. The plot of the story is a bit of a stretch but it's the idea that came to me so I'm hoping everything will just fall into place. I hope you enjoy it! Feedback is appreciated. Thank you! I DO NOT OWN THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING!

SUMMARY: In this story, Damon and Elena didn't take the cure, so they're still vampires. The only thing is, they were still able to have a daughter, Stefanie. The doppelganger blood from Elena had enough human properties in it for Stefanie to be born as a hybrid, half-human, half-vampire. They're still living the lives that they wanted and with the family that they wanted. Elena has learned to control her bloodlust so she can still be a doctor and Damon owns a bar that he always fantasized about having. But the Augustine Society is back and they're not only looking to resume their experiments, but they also want to take their revenge out on the Salvatore family. Since Damon and Elena didn't take the cure, Stefan is still alive. Bonnie found another way to kill Katherine and destroy Hell.

I was exhausted after a long day at the clinic. It was flu season so there were dozens of cases coming into the office. It was regular, routine day with two kids coming in with broken arms after they tried to play bowling using a shopping cart and trash cans as the pins. Kids will be kids and I was thrilled to come home to my kid. Walking through the front door of my house, I took my coat off and hung it on the coat rack, glancing to the clock on the stand. 10:30PM. That meant that Stefanie should be in bed and Damon was at the bar. As I dropped my keys next to the clock, Holly, Stefanie's babysitter, walked into the foyer from the living room. She had small hazel eyes with light green eyeshadow on with messy blonde hair and very fair skin tone. She was petite, skinny and short around the age of twenty-four years old. She was turned into a vampire on the day of her high school graduation six years ago and fled to Mystic Falls to have a fresh start. Stefan showed her how to drink blood the smart way and how to be discreet about it. Stefanie absolutely adored her for a babysitter.

"Welcome home, Mrs. Salvatore." Holly chimed as I walked down the foyer to the steps that led upstairs. It's been ten years since I married Damon and I'm still not used to being called Mrs. Salvatore. I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

"Good evening, Holly," I smiled sweetly at her, placing a hand on the railing to the stairs. Holly started to collect her bag and jacket, getting ready to leave. It was one of the things I liked about her. She didn't linger. Especially when I came home late like this and she knew that I was tired and thirsty. "Anything happen today?"

"We worked on her long division and multiplication. She picks up on it very quickly." My smile grew with pride. That's my girl. "I told her that we could start reading Junie B. Jones Monday, but she insisted on reading Moby Dick instead." I let out a low laugh, but it stopped when Holly's face grew serious.

"What is it?" She chewed on her bottom lip for a second before answering.

"She ate the neighbor's cat…again." My eyes grew wide at the statement but somehow, I didn't find it a surprise.

"Rebel?"

"No, that was their previous cat. This time is was Snowbell." I sighed heavily and closed my eyes.

"Well, with a name like Snowbell, I would eat it too."

"I compelled the neighbors to forget that they ever had a cat but who knows when they'll get another one."

"Does Damon know?"

"Yes. It happened shortly after he left, and I called him. He told me not to bother you until you got home." I nodded once and Holly started to head for the door, and I followed her.

"Thank you for telling me and I'm sorry you had to deal with that."

"It's no problem. If there's anything I can do to help her, just let me know."

"Thank you. I'll talk it over with Damon and we'll talk to you about any solutions we come up with." Holly gave me one last smile before opening the door and walking out into the warm summer night. I closed the door and leaned against it as I exhaled loosely. As Stefanie got older, her bloodlust kept increasing and at points, she has a hard time resisting biting into a live meal. I trudged up the stairs and down the hallway to where her room was at the end. The door was cracked, and I poked my head to see my daughter fast asleep. Must have been exhausting draining a cat. I rolled my eyes at the sarcastic comment in my head but watched my daughter a moment longer. Her nightlight on the dresser across the room illuminated her face as her eyes moved behind her eyelids. She was growing fast. She was ten years old but looked to be fifteen. She had raven black hair that dropped in curls around her shoulders and if she opened her eyes, you would be captivated by the shearing, ice blue eyes, identical to her father's. I closed the door, leaving it open just a crack and headed halfway down the hallway to my room. Upon entering, I walked to the right side of the bed to the nightstand and opened the cabinet beneath it to reveal a min fridge. After entering a passcode, I opened and pulled out a bag of O negative blood. I popped off the cap and began to suck on the blood as I moved around the room, getting ready for bed. I much preferred my blood being warm, but I was too tired to go back downstairs to put it in a mug and put it in the microwave. Cold blood would have to do for now. I set the bag down on the sink in the bathroom so I could brush my teeth and hair before finishing off the bag and heading to bed. I climbed under the covers and sighed heavily as I sank into the pillow and the comforter settled around my body. I was in dream land within minutes.

What felt like only minutes, hours passed when I finally woke up again. Sunlight poured through the curtains and touched the edge of the bed. I yawned and stretched, sending oxygen to my muscles. I was relieved that it was my day off from the clinic. I loved my job and I enjoyed helping people but sometimes it could be overwhelming, so I enjoyed every day that I had off. I turned my head to the left expecting to see Damon's sleeping form next to me like usual on a Saturday morning, but he wasn't there. Furrowing my brows, I climbed out of the bed, grabbed a bag of blood from the fridge for Stefanie and headed downstairs to see if he was in the kitchen making pancakes. Instead, I found Stefanie hunched over the island, eating a bowl of cereal. Her head raised slightly as she heard me come down the steps.

"Good morning, sweetie," I said as I walked to the opposite side of the island from her to the cupboard to grab a mug. I poured the blood from the bag into the mug and put it in the microwave to warm it up for Stefanie. As soon as the cap popped off the bag, I heard Stefanie inhale sharply behind me. I glanced over my shoulder to see her spoon stopped halfway to her mouth as the veins below her eyes bulged and darkened and blood filled the whites of her eyes, turning them near black. "Breathe, Stefanie. It doesn't control you; you control it. We talked about this." She inhaled strongly through her nose like it was the hardest thing she's ever done and exhaled slowly through her mouth. The veins slowly faded away and her eyes drained of blood to reveal her natural blue eyes again. I gave her a reassuring smile as she panted softly and went back to eating her breakfast. I pulled the mug from the microwave and set it down in front of her, watching her nostrils flare at the warm scent but none of her vampire features showed. "Why couldn't you have this control yesterday before you ate the neighbor's cat? What was his name?" Stefanie pushed her now empty bowl away from her and sat back in her chair and crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes like shards of ice. I raised my eyebrows at her, waiting for an answer.

"Snowbell." She finally answered, her voice a soft soprano, so mature for her age. "His name was Snowbell." I pushed the mug of blood across the counter to her and she leaned forward to slowly take it from me as if she were waiting for me to snatch it back. "Why does it even matter? It was just a cat."

"Yeah, Stefanie, it was a cat yesterday and tomorrow it could be a person. A living, breathing actual human being. What are you going to do if you lose control and kill someone?" She was smart and brilliant for her age, but I knew that the pressure and frustration of her out of control bloodlust could overwhelm her.

"Then, teach me to feed properly. Dad taught you. I don't understand why he can't teach me." Because your uncle was a Ripper and I don't want to take the chance to see if you're one as well. I didn't dare say that thought aloud. Instead, I changed the subject.

"Speaking of your father, have you seen him this morning?" Stefanie shrugged her shoulders as she took a restrained sip from her mug.

"I didn't hear him come home last night either." I leaned against the counter and crossed my arms over my chest. Maybe he texted me to let me know he had something else going on. I haven't checked my phone yet this morning.

"Finish your breakfast and get dressed." She grunted, her eyes staring off into space, as she took another sip of her blood. I left her and went back upstairs to take a shower and get ready for the day.
