Son of Tartarus-Chapter 6
Disclaimer: NOTHING belongs to me. PJ belongs to Rick Riordan.
A/N: I want the next few chapters to focus mainly around Percy and his experiences in Tartarus but I will be showing a bit of Annabeth/Luke. I'm not entirely sure how their relationship will play out and if Luke will be a traitor or not.
'This is me thinking'
"This is me talking"
Previously
Percy's eyes were wide as he tumbled over the edge. He knew what was happening and he was powerless to stop it.
Now
Percy
Percy was falling. Again. This was like the second time in two days. He remembered toppling over the edge of the pit. He remembered the look of horror on Annabeth's face. That was the last thing he remembered before passing out.

Percy awoke to find a girl staring at him. Not just any girl, the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. As his brain started to wake up he briefly wondered if he was on Olympus because the girl before him looked like a goddess. Then his brain recalled the events which had happened before he passed out and he realised that he was in Tartarus.
"You're awake!" The girl exclaimed.
Percy looked around and found himself in a well-furnished hut. It was small but cozy. He assumed that the girl lived here, "Where am I?" Percy found himself asking, "Who are you?"
"You're in Tartarus. I was out walking when you fell from the 'sky'" There was no sky in Tartarus, it was, after all, a pit in the ground, "My name is Calypso. Who are you and how did you get here?"
"My name is Percy Jackson. I was on a quest to retrieve Zeus' master bolt with my friends Luke and Annabeth. We were in the Underworld to try see if Hades' had any valuable information because he'd had something stolen to. I fell into the pit then passed out" Percy recited.
Calypso stared at him, "You're a demigod then?"
"Yes"
"That's strange… Who's your godly parent?" Calypso asked.
"I don't know," Percy shrugged, "And what's strange?"
"That you're not dead yet"
"Well that's reassuring," Percy arched his eyebrows, "Should I be dead?"
"Well, yes. The fall should have killed you but you survived. Admittedly, you were in rough shape when I found you and I doubt you would have survived on your own" Calypso paused and leaned towards him, "You seem to be breathing fine" She commented, "One would have thought that the air down here would've killed you" Her eyes widened, "You aren't having difficulty breathing, are you?"
"No," Percy frowned, "I'm perfectly fine"
Calypso stared at him for a long moment, "Either your delusional and on the brink of death, which is entirely possible except for the fact that you seem fine, or…" She trailed of and stared at him even harder, "No, that's not possible" She muttered to herself, "He hasn't…"
"Okay, now you're starting to freak me out, what's going on?" Percy shifted nervously.
"I don't know" Calypso bit her lower lip, "I just need to speak to someone quickly"
Percy knew that she was keeping something from him. She had saved his life and he was grateful for that but he didn't know if he could fully trust her, he was in Tartarus. Calypso moved towards the door and made to open it but before she could it creaked open slightly. Percy pulled out Riptide, which, to his immense relief, was still in his pocket, and flicked of the cap. The pen elongated into a bronze sword and Percy clutched it readily as a giant of a figure stepped through the doorframe.

Annabeth/Luke
Annabeth was sobbing in Luke's arms. It was understandable, the leader of their quest and fellow camper had just fallen into Tartarus, a place where not even the gods dared venture. Chances were that Percy would have died in the landing. And if he somehow survived the monsters would kill him anyway. He'd never make it out.
Annabeth had nearly jumped in after him, clinging on to some hope that if she went with him they'd have a better chance at surviving. Luke had grabbed her and hugged her tight, making sure she didn't do anything she would later regret.
Were the fates really so cruel? Did they have to throw Percy in Tartarus?
If they had wanted Percy to die they could have done it any other way. But Tartarus was the worst fate anyway could have. She didn't know how long she spent there, mourning Percy's death. She sobbed even harder and buried her face in Lukes chest. He hugged her and comforted her, but she kept on crying. Eventually she could cry no more, for she had no tears left to cry.
"Annabeth" She looked up to see Luke gazing at her, "We need to go"
"G-go?" She didn't understand what he was saying, "Go where?"
"We need to finish the quest" Luke said, "We need to return Zeus bolt"
"H-how could you" Annabeth sobbed, "Percy's d-dead and all you can think about is the stupid quest!"
"I'm sorry Annabeth, but Percy would've wanted us to finish the quest" Luke took a deep breath, "If he's dead his soul will be in the Underworld, we can ask Lord Hades if his soul is in Elysium"
"Hades won't care" Annabeth mumbled, "He hates the Olympians, why would he help us?"
Luke took a deep breath, "I'm pretty sure Hades is his dad"
"What?"
"Think about it, Percy can shadow travel and he tamed Cerberus. Only a child of Hades would be able to do that"
"He can shadow travel?" Annabeth looked surprised, "Did he tell you that?"
"No, but remember the Gateway arch?" Annabeth nodded, "I was watching him as he fell, he disappeared into shadow and appeared in the river" Luke continued, "I'm pretty sure that he's a child of Hades"
"But if he is that means that Hades broke the oath" Annabeth continued, "He might think we might tell the Olympians and then he would get in trouble so he might have us killed"
"Annabeth, we have to finish the quest,"
"Why? Our quest leader's gone. We've failed" Annabeth whispered, she buried her face in her hands, "Thalia would be so disappointed"
"Don't think like that, Annabeth. We haven't failed, not yet. We have to keep going" He gently pulled her face up, "It'll be alright, I promise"
"You promise?"
"I promise" Luke smiled sadly as Annabeth wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly, "Now let's get going"
Annabeth nodded and followed him as they traveled towards Hades' palace.

Percy
Percy raised his sword, ready to attack whatever came through the door. The figure moved forward and he could see what it was now, a giant. A huge, colossal beast of a giant. The giant stepped into the room.
He saw Percy with his sword out and raised his eyebrows, "Hello, I see you've finally woken up" the giant turned towards Calypso, "He seems to be breathing fine, has he taken a drink?"
"Damasen, glad your back, I need to talk to you"
Damasen chuckled, "You're in a hurry, at least introduce me to our guest"
"Percy, this is Damasen. Damasen, this is Percy" Calypso introduced them hurriedly, obviously eager to talk to the giant.
"He's a giant" Percy stated the obvious. He didn't trust the giant, not yet anyway.
Calypso sighed, "He was born to oppose Ares, he hates fighting so Gaia and Tartarus chucked him down here"
"So you're a peaceful giant" Percy lowered Riptide but didn't put it away.
"Yes," Damasen replied, "I live in my hut. I was alone until Calypso came along. I was surprised that she was down here"
"What? Why?"
"I supported the Titans in the first war. As punishment I was cursed. The gods cast me onto Ogygia" Calypso answered Percy's question, "Every so often the gods would send a man to my island. I was cursed to fall in love with them. But they always had to leave. All of them were great heroes. After a few millennia, Zeus decided my punishment wasn't enough and he cast me down here. Luckily I found a friend" She gestured to Damasen who grunted, "who helped me adjust to life"
"How long have you been down here?"
Calypso shook her head sadly, "I don't know, time passes differently in Tartarus" Percy opened his mouth to ask another question but Calypso cut him of, "We will answer all of your questions in time but I need to speak to Damasen"
Percy nodded and Calypso led Damasen out of the hut. They spoke in hushed voices but Percy still heard things like, "Can't be" or "Are you sure?" And even a "No way!". He glanced around the hut he was in. It was then he realised what it was made out of. Bones. The walls were made out of a number of ginormous bones. It wasn't very nice but he decided that it was probably better than anything else he would find in Tartarus. It was another five minutes before Calypso and Damasen came back in.
Damasen looked Percy up and down before turning to Calypso, "I think you're right, I can sense the aura on this one"
"You're sure then?" Calypso asked.
"Definitely" Damasen nodded.
"What are you talking about?" Percy tried to ask but the two immortals just ignored him.
"What do we do then?" Calypso said.
"We have to tell him. But in the end the choice is up to him" Damasen looked thoughtful, "It could be a way out for him"
"What choice?" Percy tried again, "What's going on?"
"A way out would be good, he should get back to his friends" Calypso said.
That was when Percy exploded, "WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT?" He yelled. The two turned around and finally seemed to notice Percy, "Can someone please tell me what's going on" He calmed himself down.
They stared at him, making him feel uncomfortable, before Calypso answered, "We were talking about a theory I have about you. Damasen thinks I'm right"
"What theory?" Percy questioned.
"We think we know why you're able to breathe the air here" Calypso bit her lip, "It has to do with your father"
"What about him?"
"Percy, did you ever meet your dad?" Calypso asked.
"No, I've been in an orphanage since I was three" Percy replied.
"We think that, well, we think your father is" She took a gulp of air and looked around nervously, "Tartarus" It was barely a whisper but Percy heard it anyway. He froze. He couldn't believe it. His world started spinning and he stumbled back. Then, for the second time in two days, he passed out.
A/N: So Calypso is finally here and Percy has discovered who his father is. (Calypso said Tartarus' name in a whisper because names have power and since they are in Tartarus, saying his name is a pretty bad idea).
So chapter six is done. I'm relieved, didn't think I'd be able to get it out today.
Have a good day and stay safe from CORONA. (If you already have the virus, please don't pass it on to anyone else!)
