Son of Tartarus-Chapter 12
Disclaimer: NOTHING belongs to me. PJO and HoO belong to Rick Riordan.
A/N: So this will be the start of The Titan's Curse (I cut Sea of Monsters out completely for Percy, had Jason do that quest instead). Calypso had to go back to Tartarus but before that happened Percy shadow travelled them to scenic locations like the Eiffel Tower so Calypso could see the world. Chiron has told the Olympians about Percy and many of them don't trust him due to his parentage. Percy returned to Tartarus with Calypso (he can enter and leave at will) and his dad (Tartarus) insisted that he stay and learn about his powers.
'This is me thinking'
"This is me talking"
Percy
Life was nice. At least for a while. He had taken Calypso to see all sorts of beautiful places around the world.
They had visited the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China and even ended up in the Antarctic (by accident) where Calypso had fallen in love with the penguins and insisted on taking three of them back to camp (Chiron had set up an area for the penguins with snow and ice). They had tried all kinds of food around the world (Calypso had tried some ice-cream and had gotten a brain-freeze) and had visited countless funfairs and theme parks.
Percy knew Calypso would have to go back to Tartarus at some point (unless they could convince the Olympians to let her punishment end) so he wanted her to make the most of her time. It had been a few months since Percy had retrieved Zeus' master bolt and found out about his parentage. Since then Tartarus (his dad) had come to see him in his sleep, training him in his powers. It was fun. Percy liked training with his dad, if only because he got to be with his family.
Percy and Calypso were currently at their last stop before they headed back to Camp Half-Blood. They had arrived in Hawaii a few days ago (Calypso found thee volcanoes fascinating for some reason) and had to wait for Percy to regain his energy before they could travel back to Camp.
"You ready to go?" Percy approached Calypso who was staring of into the distance.
"Thank you" Calypso turned round to face Percy.
"For what?" Percy asked, confused.
"For everything," Calypso said, "For showing me the world. For helping me. Percy, these past few months have been the best of my life thanks to you. So, thank you"
"Oh, well, your wel-" Percy was cut of when Calypso threw her arms round him, pulling him into a tight hug. He was surprised at first but hugged her back.
Calypso pulled back suddenly and they stood there in awkward silence for a few minutes, "So, should we go then?" Calypso was red in the face as she spoke.
"Uh, sure" Percy gently grabbed her hand, "You ready?"
Calypso nodded, "Let's go"
Percy concentrated, imagining the Big House in his minds-eye, as he pulled the shadows around them and they disappeared.
_(This is a Line Break)_
Percy and Calypso arrived at the porch of the Big House. In front of them there was a pot-bellied man playing some sort of card game with Chiron. It took Percy a moment before he recognised the man as Dionysus, god of wine and partying.
"Oh look, it's Perry Johnson and Calypso" Dionysus glanced at them, looking very bored.
'Why does he remember your name and not mine?" Percy addressed Calypso, sounding offended. Calypso just rolled her eyes and turned her attention to Chiron who looked like he was about to speak.
"Your back!" Chiron placed the cards he was holding down on the table, "Do you want to come into the Big House? There's something I would like to ask you"
Percy shrugged, "Sure" He and Calypso followed Chiron inside, only stopping briefly for Chiron to apologise to Dionysus and promise to join him for a game later.
Once the were seated in the room with the moving leopard head Chiron spoke, "I have a small task for you. Annabeth is tracking down two half-bloods and I'd like you to help her" Chiron said as Percy groaned, feeling like he didn't have much choice in the matter, "You'll be attending a military school dance, please get ready"
_(This is a Line Break)_
Percy was walking down a hallway of Westover Hall (the military school) with Calypso and Annabeth next to him. They were heading towards the gym where the dance was being held. They rounded a corner when a woman stopped them.
"What are you doing here? You're not students" The woman frowned.
"Yes we are," Calypso snapped her fingers, "We're in your class, remember? I'm Callie and this is Percy and Annabeth"
The woman's eyes clouded over, "Yes… I do remember. What are you doing out here Callie, you should get back to the dance"
"We were just going Miss" Calypso smiled, "Come on guys, we don't want to be late" Calypso made to walk away from the woman when a man appeared.
"Who are these people? I don't recognise them" The man addressed the woman.
"Really? Callie, Annabeth and Percy have been attending school here for the past few years, how strange" The woman said.
"We have been attending school here, sir" Calypso snapped her fingers again.
The man blinked, "Ah, yes, of course. You'd better hurry along to the dance now" The man barked at them, "Get going"
"Yes," Percy squinted at the man's name tag, "Dr Thorn"
They walked briskly down the hallway and once the teachers were out of sight Annabeth turned to Calypso with a look of awe on her face.
"How'd you do that?" Annabeth asked.
"I just manipulated the mist to make them believe what I wanted them to believe" Calypso explained, "It's simple, really, all you have to do is snap your fingers and tell them what to do but you have to also will it to happen, convince yourself it's true and you can convince them it's true"
Annabeth nodded and went quiet, presumably thinking about manipulating the mist. They carried on walking through the corridors until they reached the doors to the gym. Calypso pushed them open and they walked in silently, unnoticed by most people.
"We're looking for a Nico and Bianca di Angelo. Grover, a satyr from camp, should be around here somewhere. I'll go find him, you two look for Nico and Bianca but be on the lookout for monsters" Annabeth told Percy and Calypso. They nodded and wandered of in different directions.
Percy walked towards the side of the gym where there were a few people sitting on their own. He saw an young dark haired boy looking through a deck of cards. The boy looked lonely so Percy decided to head over and offer him some company so Percy walked over to the boy.
"Hey" Percy said.
The boy looked up at him, "Oh, hi" The boy set down his cards, "Um, I don't know you from around here…"
"Oh, right. I'm Percy Jackson, I came to see my friend" Percy stuck out his hand.
"Nice to meet you Percy, I'm Nico" The boy shook his hand.
"What you doing?" Percy asked. He was, of course, referring to the cards.
"These cards? They're part of a game called Mythomagic. It's about the Greek gods and heroes" Nico said. He was clearly exited to share his interests with someone else.
"Nico, I hope you aren't boring the poor guy with your boring game" A girl walked over, holding two drinks.
"Bianca!" Nico grabbed one of the drinks and the juice sloshed over the sides, "This is Percy and he-" Nico was interrupted when Annabeth ran towards them with Calypso and a scrawny boy (who Percy assumed was Grover) behind her.
"Percy! We've got to go! The manticore is here" Annabeth shouted as she ran.
Percy looked at Nico and Bianca and grabbed their arms, "Follow me if you don't want to be killed" Without waiting for an answer he dragged them out of the gym.
Annabeth, Calypso, Grover and Percy (who was dragging Bianca and Nico with him) ran from the manticore (who happened to be Dr Thorn) until they out of the building. They continued running until they were cornered.
"There is no escape, demigods" Dr Thorn growled.
"Really?" Percy let go of Bianca and Nico's arms and uncapped Riptide as he stepped forward.
Thorn eyed the blade warily and a scorpion tail waved behind him. Percy lunged towards Thorn and tried to stab him but Thorn jumped out of the way, the blade barely missing him. A low growl emitted from the beast and Thorn charged at Percy. Percy attempted dodged but the tip of the stinger pierced through his shoulder. Wincing, Percy shakily pulled back and raised Riptide. Thorn raised his stinger as he headed towards Percy, about to deliver a killing blow when an arrow flew out of nowhere. Thorn jumped back in surprise and inclined his head slightly towards the trees.
"The hunters" Thorn growled.
"Permission to fire, m'lady?" A voice asked.
"Permission granted" The voice that replied sounded young but there was a tone of superiority to the words.
Another arrow flew from the trees and barely missed Thorn who growled. Thorn suddenly moved and the demigods didn't realise that he had grabbed Bianca. Calypso's eyes widened and she ran toward Thorn. She raised a celestial bronze dagger and jumped on the back of the beast. The manticore's grip on Bianca loosened and the girl quickly scampered away.
Thorn took one last look around and came to the conclusion that he wouldn't win this fight. He jumped of the edge of the cliff before anyone could get to him, with Calypso still on his back.
A/N: Okay, quick note, I'm not going to be as regular with my posting now. I'll post every two or three days (or at least try to). Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
