A/N: Another weekend has arrived, meaning a new update! Thanks for the kind reviews guys, it really makes me feel good about writing this.
In a way, it's kinda helping me clear my head right now and it's a big help. Especially since quarantine is driving me nuts. Three weeks in and I feel like a caged animal! Hopefully you guys are doing better than me with being locked up...
Till next time,
D.L.D
6th Year- She knows you're gone now
Hey pasty, been a while hasn't it? Sorry, I'll make sure to keep up the once per year thing. It's just been tough these past few months.
Lilith's becoming more inquisitive than ever and I can't help but adore her for it, but...she asked the question not too long ago. Yes, that question. The one I've been avoiding for a while now.
But where do I begin? It started a couple weeks ago. As usual Lilith had just finished school and was telling me about her day, when she brought it up.
...
"Dad, why isn't mom here?" She asked it so innocently, not knowing the effect it had.
I ended up freezing for a moment.
"Um...dad? Are you ok?" She blinked as she looked at me, her attention on me.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Sweetheart," I gave a smile.
"Great!" She beamed, "Cause you need to answer my question. Why isn't mom here? I've noticed that all the girls at my school have a mom. They say she left us..."
"Your mom didn't leave us," I sighed as I tried my best not to breakdown.
"Then what happened?" She blinked as she tried to figure it out, "If she didn't leave then what happened?"
I bite my lip as I thought about what she said. If you didn't leave us then what happened... I know exactly what happened. I just couldn't bring it up.
"Dad, you're drifting again," She frowned, her brows furrowing, "Are you ok? Don't be sad! I didn't mean to upset you."
I remember feeling like the greatest douche for making Lilith feel like she was upsetting me. It was just reality smacking me back into the real world. Once again.
"No, it's fine," I wrapped her in a hug, "It's about time I told you anyway."
"Told me what?" She blinked. That's where the trouble began.
...
After telling her about you, things seemed to get worse. She reminded me of you constantly and would have the smallest similarities causing me to go crazy. I thought burying everything away would help, but it's just made things worse.
Bridgette came by the other day with Geoff and the twins. Can you believe they both tried to tell me this was a good thing?! If making me feel like a fucking madman and breaking me down to an emotional mess is good I would've just stayed with Courtney. She's still good at criticizing me. Thank god I met you after that.
Well, I'd better stop writing. Lily's calling me to help her with something.
Forever your Juvie,
Duncan.
