A Pokemon journey
Chapter 1: A journey awaits
Pud was having a difficult time sitting still at the moment. Today was the day in which he finally got to go and get his first ever pokemon from the professor, however he had to wait to go. Having hardly been able to sleep for the past few day's, time had been going incredibly slow. He sat on his bed, already dressed and fully packed for his upcoming adventure staring at his clock and watching it slowly tick, tick, tick away. He sighed, "only 1 hour, 30 minutes and 15 seconds to go until I get my starter pokemon" and collapsed back on to his bed.
He and his closest friends Sasha and Luna had been talking over these pokemon for years, only having their conversation ramp up ten-fold in the past few weeks. Going over the various pros and cons of Bulbasaur the loyal grass-type pokemon, Charmander the fierce fire-type pokemon and Squirtle the wise water-type pokemon, the 3 starter pokemon that children in Pallet town got to choose from, well usually anyway. He was contemplating what he thought of all these conversation when he heard a call from downstairs "Honey, it's time to come down for dinner!" his mother was saying form downstairs in the kitchen. Pud got up and starting heading downstairs, even if he was too nervous and excited to eat much at the moment anyway, "Well, it'll be good way to pass some of the time" he muttered to himself.
As he entered the kitchen he saw his little sister Elli at the table, clearly still quite disgruntled about not being allowed to leave on her own pokemon journey just yet herself. She was seated in front of a large stack of her favourite chocolate chip pancakes lathered with generous amounts of Beedrill honey, which had clearly been made by their mother to make her feel a little better. While she was clearly still not happy about the situation at hand, they were doing their job of keeping her busy and not constantly yelling and screaming about just how unfair the whole situation was and how she was absolutely mature and ready enough to go on her own journey, according to her at least. Pud smiled at her apprehensively, "Good morning their Elli, those look nice" he said, greeting her as gently as he could. All he got in return was a rather dismissive "HMPH!"" as she turned her head away from him and continued eating.
"Now now Elli sweetie, today is a big day for your brother, can you at least try to be supportive, you'll be on you journey as well soon enough" his mother said in a soothing tone from the stove, where she was placing the last of the pancakes on a plate. She placed these on the table for her and Pud to share together. "How are you feeling about your adventure?" she asked him, "well, I'm really excited, but also really nervous… I just don't want to turn out to be a failure and let anyone down" he replied. His mother chuckled lightly "Pud, you will not be a failure and you could never let us down, always remember that". Pud smiled back at her and began to have a few bites of breakfast. They all sat and talked for a while, and before long it was finally time for Pud to leave "FINALLY!" he cheered as he grabbed his bag and started to run out the door. "wait Pud, I forgot to ask you what pokemon you've decided to get?" she called after him "That's a secret for now, you'll just have to find out when you see me off from the professor's lab later" he replied back as he jumped the hedge in their yard and he was off like a dodrio on ten cups of straight caffeine.
He raced across town towards the professor's lab which contained the key to his future journey, almost tripping a dozen times but managing to stay upright the entire time until he finally arrived at the lab. As he approached he noticed his two friends Luna and Sasha waiting at the gate for him, "ah man, I'm the last to arrive" he sighed to himself and approached his friends "sorry I've kept you guys waiting, but thanks a bunch for waiting for me" he said giving a small bow of apology to his friends. 'It's ok Pud, we're happy you're finally here" Luna said to him in her usual quiet, sweet tone. Luna was a sweet girl, with long blonde hair, pale skin and purple eyes, she was currently wearing a light pink shirt and skirt. Sasha on the other hand was not so forgiving "GEEZ PUD, WAY TO MAKE US WAIT" she yelled at him. Sasha was the shortest of the three, with long brown hair, tan skin with a red shirt and a black jacket and skirt on, and red eyes. Pud chuckled, she may have a boisterous personality but this was her way of being friendly, if she didn't yell at you several times a day you couldn't consider her a good friend. "Well Sasha, you only arrived here a few seconds before..." Luna had begun to say in response before catching sight of Sasha's angered face and stopping mid sentence, this exchange only made Pud laugh even harder.
"I thought that was you three I heard causing so much noise out here" a familiar voice said from the door of the lab. They all turned to see Professor Gary Oak standing at the opened door to the lab, with hand on hip and a smirk on his face. Professor Gary had taken over the lab as head pokemon researcher from his grandfather 8 years ago after his retirement. "Now come on up and get inside you three, I don't have all day to just stand around" the Professor said to them ushering them inside the lab. The three friends hurried up the stairs to the door and inside the lab.
They followed the professor onwards towards the inside of the lab. "Now, I know you three already know the basic's of what's going to go on here but I gotta go over them anyway. Now as you three know you will have a choice between three starter pokemon being form Pallet town and those pokemon are; bulbasaur, charmander and squirtle. You will also receive a fully updated and automated pokedex which will allow you to scan comprehensive data on all pokemon encountered on your journey, as well as several other useful features, including GPS map and trainer identification information…." Gary rambled on, mostly ignoring the fact that only Luna seemed to be paying attention out of politeness while Pud and Sasha had glazed-over faces of excitement, clearly miles away from this conversation.
After several minutes of walking, they eventually entered a rather large auditorium like room. On both sides of the room, the walls were completely covered by large windows so one could see out into the lab grounds. The four of them were walking on top of a straight walkway with a circle in the middle and in the middle of that circle was a small table with a tray holding three separate pokeballs on top of them. All Three of them let out small squeals of excitement at seeing them there. Professer Gary smiled at this "yeah, I always do like doing this in this room, it brings a little more emphasis to the decision than what gramps used to do." he said waving a small hand to the room and the three also noticed for the first time several pokemon around the room such as butterfrees, rattatas and pidgeys "though no one ever really seems to notice anything but those three pokemon balls when they first come in"
"Well, one can hardly blame us, we've been waiting for this moment for a long time" Pud said in response giving a slight chuckle. "Yeah, I guess so, now which one of you is choosing first huh?" Professor Oak said in response. "That would be me, I won the game of rock, paper scissors yesterday" said Pud stepping forward.
"And I know exactly who I'm going to choose..."he said, putting his hand forward "I choose..."
