Hi fellow creatures of this earth! This is something that I haven't tried before: a collab! My friend, Landfish, and I will each be writing a chapter here, then editing the other one's work. I can't wait to see how this'll turn out, and I hope that you're just as excited as I am! Enjoy!
Moonwave banked around the peaks of the Claws of the Clouds mountains. She had been invited to a new school, called Hybrid Island Academy, where any hybrid dragons could go to school and learn. The school had even excepted some four-way hybrids, which was pretty special.
Moonwave was surprised that four-way hybrids even existed, considering that only a few weeks beforehand, they had been so completely outlawed that even Royal hybrids were killed on site. Moonwave was an exception, as she was an animus.
She flew onwards, making her way southwest, flying past any of the places that had been affected by the recent war, checking on the dragons there. She really missed her friends, The Ten, but she knew that they weren't going to be invited. This school was built last year, specifically for hybrids, and had only just opened.
As Moonwave neared the coast, she spotted a few of the NightWings starting to settle down for bed. She wished she could do the same, but the school was only open during the day, since only one of the Tribes had a different schedule.
She glided onwards, her goal being a huge island just southwest of Phyrria. The Academy was built there because it was exactly halfway from Phyrria to Pantala, so that even Pantalan hybrids could join. It was really well thought out, in Moonwave's opinion.
Nearing the island, she spotted a tall, beautiful, lime green, lavender and rose, dragon flying over the ocean. She realised that Moonwave was there, and hovered in the air for a bit, waiting for her to come closer.
"Hello there!" she greeted her, long fangs glinting underneath her lip " I'm Roxanne, and I'm the English teacher for the new school. What's your name?"
"I'm Moonwave," she replied " I was invited just yesterday."
"Ah, yes. You're the one who helped The Ten stop the war, right?" Roxanne asked, some of the scales on her ruff flaring to a bright yellow. She flapped her wings as she waited. Moonwave noticed that two of them were normal SilkWing wings, while the smaller ones were more like LeafWing ones. Wow, thought Moonwave, a three-way hybrid.
"Yes, that's right." Moonwave answered the beautiful dragon. She already really liked her, and was finally starting to look forward to being in the school.
The two hybrids flew on, and soon, the dark form of the Hybrid Island Academy came into view. They both pulled their wings into a steep dive, snapping them back open just as they were about to hit the floor.
Cold, stone steps led up to the massive stone doorways, big enough to let ten dragons comfortably fly through. Inside, in the somehow even more massive Main Hall, stood a black dragon with white spikes and amazing blue swirls circling through his wings.
He looked up and locked eyes with Moonwave. She could hear him thinking about her, about how she was thinking of him. And then, in unison, they thought, Finally! Another dragon who understands the pain and responsibility!
I'm Moonwave, she said to him telepathically.
My name is Alaska, he replied, I'm the History teacher for the newest dragonets. He lowered his gaze, and Moonwave withdrew from his head.
Moonwave turned back to Roxanne, and found the pretty RosewoodWing gazing lovingly at Alaska. She could almost see the love that they felt for each other. It was amazing.
"So, where will I be staying?" she asked, breaking the peaceful silence.
"You should be down the left-wing side of the second corridor," Roxanne replied, pointing with her prehensile tail "The third one."
Moonwave nodded, and turned to follow the directions. On the way, she spotted groups of hybrid dragonets, all chatting and playing together. She could hear all their thoughts, so hopeful and happy for their futures as hybrids.
At the doorway to her new room, Moonwave looked back, and thought to herself, This is going to be a great year.
