The Strange and Beautiful Places

Chapter 5

"Home sweet Home." Stefan exclaimed as he put Nadia's luggage down as she looked around the big and ominous house.

"Can one of you show me to my room?" Nadia asked as Katherine and Stefan looked at her questioningly.

"Of course. I can imagine you're tired. Follow me." Stefan exclaimed nervously as Nadia followed him to where she presumed was her room.

"This is beautiful." Nadia asked looking at the room that felt more guest room then hers.

"You can decorate however you like. We weren't sure what you liked so we just kept it the way it was."

"I'll keep that in mind. Thank you."

Nodding, Stefan left the room as Nadia put down her things and looked around the room. It felt so empty and cold compared to the one she had at home, but she guessed that this would have to do for now. Because it wasn't like she could go home right now. She had none to go to.

Sighing Nadia flopped onto the bed wishing she had her cellphone to distract her but even that had been taken away when she had left the states. She would have to get a new one when she figured out how to obtain one here as she turned over and curled in a ball wanting nothing more than to have someone there who could comfort her, but for right now all she had was herself.

At some point in her thoughts, she had drifted off in her sleep later waking up later when there was a soft knock on her door and Katherine moved in smiling slightly.

"Are you hungry?"

"Starving actually."

"If you get dressed there's a diner your father and I love to go to. We would love to take you there if you're up to it. Maybe even go shopping afterwards if you want."

"I'd like that. I'll be right down as soon as I change." She said with a smile as Katherine left her alone to her thoughts. She knew she would have to try but something told Nadia that tonight would be hard and she better brace herself for it.

"There she is." Stefan smiled as Nadia came down wanting nothing more than to get some real food in her stomach that wasn't peanuts or whatever the airplane served.

"I'm ready whenever you two are." Nadia said still feeling weird that she was living with two people who were basically strangers.

"Excellent." Stefan said as Nadia smiled making her way to their car so they could drive to the restaurant Stefan and Katherine had in mind.

"Here we are." Stefan said parking the car before Katherine turned to her smiling.

"Are you ready for this?"

"As ready as I'll ever be."

Exiting the car, they made their way into the restaurant.

"Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore, it's nice to see you again." A girl with blonde hair smiled holding onto a couple of menus.

"Nice to see you again, Caroline, just the normal table please." Katherine smiled as she took them to their regular table.

"Matt will be over to see you in a minute." Caroline smiled leaving them alone to talk.

"So, what's good here?" Nadia asked feeling famished.

"The Shkembe Chorba is pretty good, spicy though. You might want to try Lukanka if you want something more subtle." Stefan replied.

"I'll try the Shkembe Chorba. Thanks for the suggestion."

"You're welcome."

"Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore, it's a pleasure to see you again." A voice said as Nadia looked up to see one of the hottest guys she had ever seen.

"Nice to see you too Matt."

"Who's this?" Matt asked pointing his pen at Nadia.

"Nadia. Nice to meet you." She said with a smile.

"Nadia. As in-"

"Yes, I'm her." She said not wanting to have this particular conversation right now when she was both exhausted and famished.

"The details don't matter. We're just glad to have her home."

"Well I'm glad you two found her. What did you guys want to eat?" he asked as they placed their orders and the gorgeous guy left making her wonder if she would ever see him again after this.
