Chapter 1- The Fairy Tail
I rushed out the supermarket clutching the first volume of Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest to my chest and a bag of groceries. I danced along the sidewalk to the 8th Fairy Tail Opening: Rock City Boy. As you can tell, I Lucinda Hatter, am completely and utterly obsessed with Fairy Tail and no, I am not ashamed of it. I slowed to a swift walk as the song changed to Masayume Chasing I hummed along to the soft tune.
I arrived in front of my apartment unlocking the door. It wasn't anything too special; the apartment had 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a small kitchen adjoined to the living and dining space. I share the apartment with my older sister Mary.
I put the groceries away and immediately head to the bathroom for a tranquil bath. I stood in front of the mirror brushing my hair. If there is one thing worth noting about me it is that Lucy Heartfilia and I have an uncanny resemblance. Blond hair- check, brown doe eyes- check, extremely busty and curvy- check. I undress and enter the bath, I let out a hum of appreciation as the warm water releases all the knots in my back. Tomorrow is my parent's death anniversary. It'll be 2 years since they died. I had snuck out to a party one night, the party didn't go so well. My parents picked me up, father got distracted as he was lecturing me, he ran a red light. It was my fault. My vision started to blur, I shook my head willing the moisture to vanish. I gingerly exited the bath draining the water. I retreated to my room to indulge myself in the latest manga I had brought. Fairy Tail was the one thing that pulled me out of this hole of misery. The excitement and adventure was something I could only dream of.
"LUCINDA" I jumped as I heard my name being screeched. I scrambled off my bed to the lounge. There stood Mary, annoyance filled her expression. She slammed my report card onto the coffee table.
"What is the meaning of this?" She demanded. I cringed slightly looking at all the Fs and C minuses. "Do you know how much money it costs me to send you to that school? You repay me like this!?"
"M- Mary I'm sorry, you know I've got a lot on my mind. I'll do better next semester."
"Don't Lucinda, you always say that" Mary growled, her brown hair flaring behind her. "They're dead, you need to get over it. I've moved on so should you."
"What the hell Mary! You can't say that." I could feel the anger bubbling inside me ready to explode.
"I can. You are my responsibility now and I can't afford to carry dead weight" I felt something inside me snap. I snatched Mary's keys and rush to the front door. I could hear Mary's frantic yells behind me. I throw the door open and storm towards Mary's Toyota getting to the front seat. I slammed on the pedals and sped off towards the highway. Tears cascading down my cheeks. I let out a choked sob. Why do I screw everything up? Everything is my fault. I let out a screech balling my hands to my eyes. My fault. My fault. My fault. My internal breakdown was halted my an impact hitting my side. I let out a gasp as I felt the car flip. The glass shattered all over me, as the shards impaled me the car tossed me back and forth. The car stopped it's spiral upside down. My head throbbed painfully and black dots littered my vision. I guess I screwed up again Mama, Papa. Darkness consumed me.
I gasp sitting up. I pat my arms and legs. I'm still alive?
"Excuse me miss?" A wacky-looking old man came into my vision. "Are you alright?"
I took in my surroundings, they were vaguely familiar. Shelves and cabinets were all filled to the brim with weirdly shaped bottles, crystal balls sat on cushions and broomsticks hanged from the ceiling.
"Sir where am I?" I question standing up.
"I think you hit your head a bit too hard, we are in my magic shop." Magic shop? What in the world. I stumbled towards the door and yanked it open. A gust of salty wind engulfed me. The ocean? The nearest ocean in New York is 14 miles, this isn't right. I dash back into the store and grab the short man by the shoulders.
"Where am I!" I demanded shaking him violently.
"What do you mean?" He shrieked.
"Where am I? What is this place?"
"Miss, you're in Hargeon. You really must see a doctor!" Hargeon... No way. This has to be a joke, Hargeon only exists in Fairy Tail. The car crash! I must be dreaming, that's it. I pinch myself harshly, I yelped at the sharp pain. Okay, this is just a very realistic dream, maybe it's one of those lucid ones. I heard somewhere that when you look at clocks it can wake you up. I glance around for a clock, I spy a grandfather one. I stare intently at the clocks face.
"Why aren't I waking up" I yelled fisting my hair. I took a deep breath and steadied my breathing. Okay, so this isn't a dream. I am in Hargeon, a place in the Fairy Tail universe. I'M IN FAIRY TAIL. I let out a squeal of excitement. Suddenly I catch my appearance in the shop's glass windows. I'm wearing a blue skirt and a white and blue vest. A whip and pair of keys were strapped to my waist. No way, I am also Lucy Heartfilia! I let out another squeal. I recall the first episode of the anime where Lucy is buying Plue's key. I straighten my posture composing myself.
"What magic do you sell here?" I asked the bewildered man.
"Well I already show you the colours magic, we have many wizarding essentials." He explained.
"Do you happen to have gate keys? Specifically, the one that opens Canis Minor" I questioned. He directed me towards the table with the silver key sitting on top of it.
"How much is it?" I questioned
"2,000 Jewel" I felt my heart sink. Despite not know the conversions between Jewel and the American dollar I knew that was a lot. I remembered Lucy using her sex appeal to lower the price. I posed on the man's counter.
"How much is it really, you handsome man?" I flashed a flirtatious wink.
I storm out the shop clutching the key. Now I know how Lucy felt when the man discounted her a mere 1,000 jewel. Was my sex appeal only worth that much?! I stumble as a bunch of girls dash past me.
"The famous wizard is here!" The ash-blond gushed.
"It's the famous wizard salamander!" The other replied. Oh, right this is the bit where Natsu believes Bora is Igneel. I slump my shoulders remembering Igneel's heartbreaking death. I'd better warn Natsu about Bora. I made my way through the crowd of blushing girls. They won't be acting that way when they find themselves unconscious on a ship. As I stood in front of the man I felt my heart lurch. What is this feeling? The man suddenly looked attractive and an alluring aura radiated off him. I shake my head violently, no way am I falling for a stupid love charm. But he's so cute! A man with pink hair had stumbled into the crowd shouting Igneel's name. Natsu. Immediately I broke out of my trance.
"Who are you?" He quizzed, body slumped.
"Would the name "Salamander" ring a bell? Salamander of Fairy Tail" Natsu walked away dejectedly. 'Salamander's' fans immediately started a riot, beating him to the ground.
"You aren't Salamander, you are Bora!" I pointed at him, "Bora the Prominence" I grabbed Natsu and Happy and dragged them away before the crazies start attacking again. Bora is such a creep he's on my list of most hated Fairy Tail characters, second to Lisanna. My internal chatter was silenced as I was jerked back. Natsu had stopped and had the befuddled expression.
"Who are you? Are you a mage?" Happy inquires flying out of my grip and over to Natsu's side.
"I'm Lucinda Hatter! And yep I'm a celestial mage!" I said proudly flashing my gate keys. "And your Natsu Dragneel and Happy!" I squeal squeezing Natsu and Happy in an enormous hug. "Let's get something to eat, my treat." I prance towards the nearby restaurant Natsu and Happy's jaws fell to the floor.
This was such a bad idea. I flicked chunk of meat off my forehead, they ate like pigs. It's the most disgusting thing. I don't think I've seen Natsu chew his food once, he's gonna end up with a stomach ache later. What a waste of the money I saved. Finishing their meal they lean back on their chairs patting their stomachs.
"Thank ya, Luigi!" Smiled Natsu picking the food from his teeth.
"It's Lucinda" I corrected.
"So Lucinda how did you know that wasn't Salamander and more importantly how do you know who we are?" Happy asks.
"Sorcerer Weekly" I lied smoothly, "and I'm a traveller so I heard about Bora down the road" They hummed in response.
"Sooooo you guys are from Fairy Tail yeah" Sparkles lit in my eyes, "do you think I could join?"
"Of course, you seem like a cool dude"
"I'm a girl! Anyway, we need to make a plan to stop Bora that's your job right?"
"How do you know we're on a job?" Happy eyed me cautiously.
"Just a hunch. Anyway, Bora uses charm magic to entice young women onto his ship, he is involved in trafficking. Natsu you're going to be pretty useless since it is a boat and you have motion sickness.
"Wait how do you know I have motion sickness?" Natsu baffled.
"I just do. As I was saying, Natsu you will wai-"
"What a weird lady we should get out of here" Whispered happy.
"Yeah she's some sort of freakish psychic" he whispered back.
"I can still hear you" I screeched bonking them both on the head. Honestly, I do not understand how Lucy put up with these two.
"So Natsu you will stay on the shore, I'll beach the ship and you take care of it from there."
"Alright sounds good, as long as I get to beat some bad guys up!" Happy's jaw dropped as Natsu got fired up.
"You're going along with this psycho!" Happy shouted.
"You mangy cat!"
I fidgeted with my deep ruby dress, the slit whet way too far up. Lucy was defiantly daring in her taste of fashion. Bora cast his magic lifting bubbles of fruit juice into the air.
"Now open your mouth and sad or the jewels of fruit as they enter" What a crackpot.
"Errr no you creep" Bora's jaw dropped.
"Come on darling the juice is delightful"
"Nah, I'd rather drink sleep magic." His jaw dropped again.
"How did you know?"
"Your rings"
"I'm impressed" he chuckles, "your a tough one" a bunch of large burly men revealed themselves carrying unconscious women. I felt intimidation creep up on me, this is not the time to be scared. I ball my fists and lifted my head.
"Welcome to my ship" Bora smirks, "You will behave yourself until we reach Bosch, girl" I silenced him the infamous Lucy kick, he stumbled back choking on air. Now to summon Aquarius. I grab my gate keys from the golden garter around my thigh. A purple tendril of fire wraps around me, I gasp as the keys are snatched out of my grasp. The keys fly into Bora's hands.
"Hmm, gate keys... A celestial wizard huh?" He tosses the keys overboard.
"No!" I screeched, I have to get them back. Suddenly the roof bursts open in a fury of wooden chips.
"Yo Lucinda, need some help?" I sigh in relief at the sight of Natsu crooked smile. His affirm posture was immediately replaced. He slumped on the floor hands held to his mouth and face green. I let out a sigh, his motion sickness.
"Lucy come on!" Happy exclaimed wrapping his tail around my waist pulling me into the air. We swerved from side to side as Happy dodged the purple tendrils launched our way.
"Happy I need you to drop me into the ocean."
"What why!" Happy shouted over the wind. I wriggled around frantically.
"Stop Lucinda I'm going to drop you!" "That's the point!" With one last movement, I was released from Happy's grip free falling to the ocean. I gasped as I came into contact with the icy water, blinking I adjusted my vision as best as I could. I caught a glint in the corner of my eye, I swam towards to and captured the glinting keys. I swam to the surface coughing.
"Open, Gate of the Water Bearer! Aquarius!" The mermaid came into existence in a whirlpool of water.
"A fish!" Happy yelled drooling.
"No, you idiot cat, it's a celestial spirit."
"That was amazing" he awed. I gave him a sheepish smile.
"Aquarius! Use your power to push that ship back to the port!" I demanded. After no response, I looked at her.
"Who are you, stupid girl?" She hissed.
"I-I don't know what you mean?" Aquarius analysed my features, I felt uncomfortable under her gaze.
"Whatever you stupid girl, drop my key again and I will kill you." She declared.
"A-aye ma'am" Happy and I said in sync. Suddenly water gushed into her ceramic pot and before gushing out. I let out a screech as the tidal wave violently swept Happy and I along with the boat back to the port.
"Whoops I accidentally swept the ship up, too" she sneered. I turned my attention to Natsu who stood on-top of the inclined ship.
"You're a Fairy Tail wizard?" He asked is bangs shadowed over his eyes.
"Yeah, so what?!" Bora replied quickly, "Get 'im men"
"Right" the men obeyed.
"Let me get a closer look at you" Natsu ripped off his red jacket, slugging a man who came charging towards him, "I'm Natsu if Fairy Tail! I've never seen you before in my life!"
"What-" Bora gasps.
"Th-That emblem! He's the real deal, Bora!" trembled one of the men.
"Idiot! Don't call me by that name!"
"Don't bother, the jig was up ages ago. I already knew who you were. I don't care if you're the good guy or the bad guy... But I won't let you tarnish Fairy Tail's name!" In a fury of flames and heat, the two fire mages battled it out. I stood in awe as Natsu consumed Bora's flames. Seeing it in real life was defiantly an odd experience.
"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Flames dances around Natsu's fist as he launches himself forward towards the enemy.
"Dragon Lung's for breathing fire, dragon scales for dissolving fire and dragon talons that are wrapped with fire..." I recited perfectly under my breath.
"What was that Lucinda?" Happy asked.
"Nothing Happy" suspicion filled Happy's eyes. Bora flew into the nearby bell tower as a result of Natsu's ferocious attack.
"Natsu. You don't use fire to smoke food. You use smoke" Happy remarked.
"Talk about going overboard," I said as I looked in awe at the devastation caused by Natsu. Happy flew to Natsu's shoulder leaving Lucy alone with Aquarius.
"Now little girl, explain what is happened" Aquarius demanded. I tremble at Aquarius fierce stance.
"I-I don't know Aquarius, I was in a car accident and I suddenly ended up here." Aquarius hummed in response.
"Do me a favour and don't call me for a while, I'm going on a week-long trip with my boyfriend" she sneered, "I'll talk to the spirit king about your situation" Aquarius disappeared in a blur of water. Wow, what a rude spirit.
The clang of metal and assemblage of footsteps battered my eardrums. I glanced back to see the army. I was suddenly tugged in the opposite direction. Natsu's calloused hand gripped my wrist.
"Crap let's get out of here!" Natsu yelled
"Why do I have to?! I didn't do anything wrong!"
"You wanna join our guild, don't you" a broad smile played on Natsu's lips "Come on!"
"Okay!" And that marked the beginning of the next chapter of my life.
