Author's Note: This was an idea I started years ago and never finished. Something made me want to try again. And I feel it's only right to dedicate it to Leigh Ann (leighann415) for all of her love and support!

Rob sighed. He'd long ago given up writing, at least professionally, but he was glad he'd kept the den. It gave him a place to go while Laura cleaned the living room, or when she needed to talk to Millie about whatever women talked about when men weren't around. Although he loved Laura every bit as much as he had during their courtship, he understood that it was sometimes necessary to give each other space.

Right now, Laura was straightening up the living room. She seemed to want to do it almost every day, even when everything seemed fine to Rob. But he knew better than to question it. As he looked around the room, his eye landed on a picture of the three of them. There was no one Rob loved more than Laura and Richie. The smile that appeared on his face didn't last, though. His gaze wandered to his calendar, and he saw that a date was circled in red. The word Anniversary was written in big letters. Rob remembered making the note on the calendar. At the time, he hadn't really thought of what he would do to mark the day. He'd hoped that he would come up with something later. Well, it was later. The date was in two weeks. Whatever he was going to do, he'd have to put it together quickly.

For a moment, Rob let his mind drift back. He remembered sitting in a Jeep, shivering as he asked for Laura's hand. Of course, she accepted. Their wedding had been something of a disaster, thanks to Rob's twisted ankle. They wound up being married a week later in an Army hospital, due to a cold Rob had contracted while hopping to the chapel on one leg. Rob knew it couldn't have been the wedding day Laura had dreamed of, but she'd never complained.

Suddenly, an idea began to form. Since she'd never gotten the wedding she wanted all those decades ago, why couldn't she have it now? Maybe, after all these years, it was time they renewed their vows. It would take a lot of planning, especially to keep it a secret, but he had no doubt it would be worth it to see Laura smile.

It didn't take long for Rob to realize he would need an accomplice in order to pull this off. It wasn't hard to figure out who would be the perfect person for the job: the only other person who loved Laura nearly as much as Rob did, Richie. Rob smiled as he picked up the phone. He knew his son would be thrilled at the idea.

"Hello?" Richie said as he picked up the phone. He didn't even bother looking at the caller ID.

"Hey, Rich. How are you doing?"

"OK, I guess. Working on a sitcom is a lot harder than I thought, but I can handle it."

"Of course you can," Rob agreed. "Listen, I wanted to ask you about something."

"OK, what is it? Nothing bad, I hope." He laughed, but he couldn't help being a bit worried. His parents weren't as young as they used to be.

"No, nothing like that. It's just that I realized our anniversary is in two weeks, and I was thinking about what to do."

"Oh, well, I'm sure Mom will love whatever you come up with," Richie said. His father never missed a chance to show his mother how much he loved her. Richie hoped one day he'd have a relationship like theirs.

"Actually, I've already come up with something. You know how our wedding was kind of crazy?" Rob laughed at the memory.

"Yeah," Richie said. It was just one of the many stories he'd heard countless times when he was growing up. After hearing it so many times, it almost seemed like he'd seen it himself.

"Well, I got to thinking it probably wasn't the wedding your mom would've wanted. So, maybe it's time we had another one. You know, like renewing our vows?"

"Wow, Dad, that's an awesome idea!"

"I'm glad you think so. I kind of want it to be a surprise, so I'm going to need some help."

"Sure, anything you need," Richie said. His dad wasn't that used to computers and such, but Richie could easily find anything they needed online.

Rob smiled. The idea was already taking shape in his mind. He just hoped he'd be able to pull it off.
