A/N: Alright...finally the last chapter. I decided Act 3 will just be one big chapter. For fans of the actual movie, I'm sorry but I had to skip "So They Say" and "Everyone's A Hero In Their Own" way...I detest those songs on the movie. Only part I liked was Horrible-Penny part in the song, but I wasn't gonna write just that part of the song. Nobody said I had to write in all the songs, right? Also if Phineas seems...OOC, just remember this is somewhat of an AU...Anyway
I do not own Phineas and Ferb. I do not own Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. I only own the idea of casting the PnF characters in their place.
After weeks of preparation, the homeless shelter was ready, and it was grand opening time. There was a huge crowd of people, and Hammer was meant to make a speech. Why not? It was his signature that saved the building after all. They even built a statue of the hero. Linda and Phineas sat in chairs on the side of the podium. Phineas couldn't believe all the fuss Hammer was getting. He missed Heinz. The last few times they went to the Laundromat, he wasn't there. That kinda worried him...especially considering he noticed his mom's contemplation about staying with Hammer. He looked around to see if maybe Heinz came to support Linda, but he was nowhere to be found. Phineas was about to give up on Heinz. Maybe it was too painful to be around Linda and Phineas. He didn't blame him.
"I did have a little song prepared for everyone here...but SOMEONE lost my lyrics," Hammer said, giving glare and the sound of papers dropped as Hammer's assistant, Carl stumbled.
"Poor guy," Phineas thought to himself.
"Sorry, sir," Carl replied, picking up the papers, and Phineas could see the lyrics crumpled up, "totally my fault. Definitely an accident."
"Yes," Hammer said, ignoring the clearly disdained attitude from his assistant, "No matter, we'll just make do with a speech!"
Carl paused, and he and Phineas both thought the same thing, "Dammit."
Phineas tuned out most of Hammer's speech as he really didn't care what he had to say. The public could see him as a hero. He sure doesn't, but they wouldn't listen to a mere child. It wasn't until Hammer directed his hand toward his mom.
"Cute ain't she...not my usual type, but nice," Hammer said, "oh and her son, Phineas. Wave hi, kiddo. Anyway…"
Phineas didn't listen to any more really, he was too busy being annoyed he was even there to begin with. The time came for the statue's unveiling, and he sat back. However, he was quite surprised to see...not a statue...but Heinz. Without a warning, he fired the freeze-ray inator, and Hammer was frozen solid. Heinz laughed evilly as he stepped down from the place where the statue should be. Phineas could see him holding a dangerous looking weapon, labeled...Death-ray inator...oh boy.
Heinz smiled evilly as he looked around. Linda grabbed Phineas and hid.
Look at these people
Amazing how sheep'll
Show up for the slaughter
No one condemning
You lined up like lemmings
You led to the water
Why can't they see what I see?
Why can't they hear the lies?
Maybe the fee's too pricey for them to realize
Your disguise is slipping
I think you're slipping
From their hiding spot, Phineas watched Heinz as he circled around the room threateningly. He was afraid, sure, but...he was also happy to see Heinz. He felt conflicted. For one thing, this was an entirely different side of Heinz he hadn't seen yet. Sure he'd seen some evil but...nothing menacingly like this. What was he planning to do with the death ray? Was he planning to kill someone or just scare everyone? Heinz wouldn't kill someone, not even Hammer...would he?
Now that your savior's as still as the grave
You're beginning to fear me
Like cavemen fear thunder
I still have to wonder
Can you really hear me?
I bring you pain
The kind you can't suffer quietly
Fire up your brain
Remind you inside you're rioting
Society is slipping
Everyone's slipping away
So
Heinz began to fire the death ray inator in random directions, being careful not to hit anyone. Everyone began to run in fear and scream. Finally, the fear and respect he'd craved. His time had come at last.
Go ahead
Run away
Say it was horrible
Spread word
Tell a friend
Tell them the tale
Take a pic
Do a blog
Heroes are over with
Look at him
Not a word
Hammer meet nail
Then i win
Then i get
Everything i've ever
All the cash
All the fame
And social change
Anarchy
That I run
It's doctor Horrible's turn
You people all have to learn
This would is going to BURN
He fired up at the ceiling.
BURN
Another shot at the ceiling, and he stopped as someone was writing it down probably as a news article. Phineas blinked in worry. Had he really gone so dark as this?
"It's two Rs. H-O-R-R-" Heinz said, and he shot one more.
BURRN!
No sign of Linda and Phinny
Good i would give anything
Not to have them see
At their names, Linda and Phineas slowly crept from their hiding places. The heartbreak and fear in Phineas' eyes alone could probably stop Horrible from what he was about to do, but he couldn't see him...not yet.
It's gonna be bloody
Head up Heinz ol buddy
There's no time for mercy
It was then he could see it...Phineas' eyes sparkle. He couldn't do this in front of him, could he? Heinz shook it away. He was going to the Evil League of Evil. He wouldn't have time for a dumb little kid...a dumb...adorable...relatable...kind...little kid. He shook it off. He'd be fine.
Here goes no mercy!
But it was too late, the freeze-ray inator made a noise...which meant it was powering down...and Hammer would be free of his icy prison.
"That's...not a good sound," Heinz said, looking back at the machine, and he was met with a punch from Hammer.
Heinz was thrown across the room, the death-ray inator hitting the ground and breaking slightly. Phineas gasped as Hammer picked up the weapon. Heinz tried to get up, but Roger put a foot on his stomach to hold him down. Linda wrapped her arms around Phineas, not knowing exactly what just happened.
"A Death-Ray," Roger said as he observed weapon, "looks like you've moved on up, ol brother. Let's see if this one works any better than any of your other inventions."
Phineas and Heinz's eyes both widened as they realized what he meant. He was going to use the weapon to kill his arch enemy. That wasn't what heroes do! No! Heroes accidentally kill the villains because of science or their own arrogance...or because they were so dangerous they couldn't be left alive...or in a life or death sort of situation. Not now when the villain was afraid and cornered like this. Villains kill for spite, not heroes! Not only that, but the device was sparking dangerously, which meant it could malfunction or explode. Phineas struggled from his mother's grip. He couldn't let Hammer do this!
"Phineas wait!" Linda called, but Phineas ignored it.
Heinz tried to warn Hammer not to fire the weapon, but it was too late. He fired it, and the explosion threw Hammer on the ground. Phineas ran up to Heinz, ignoring Hammer.
"I'm in pain...I think this is what pain feels like!" Hammer whined, and he ran out.
"Heinz," Phineas called out, "are you okay?"
"Yeah...I…" however, when Heinz got up and looked in Phineas' direction, he couldn't help but spot his mother, "oh no…"
Phineas turned, and he could see her...impaled by a piece of the exploded death-ray inator.
"Mom!" Phineas ran up to her, "I...I shouldn't have moved. I'm so sorry."
Linda smiled, "I'm glad you...moved, Phineas...you'd have been impaled too."
Heinz panicked, "Oh no no no no, I...Linda I'm so sorry. We'll get you to a hospital."
Linda shook her head, "I was so blinded by Hammer...you're the one I love, Heinz. Please...take...care of...my son."
The two-some could see the light leave her eyes. Phineas hugged her tightly as he sobbed. Heinz was awestruck...she loved him, but now she was gone. All he had left was the ELE...and Phineas. He didn't have time to grieve however as they were bombarded with cameras and press. Phineas shook in fear as he shielded himself from the cameras.
"Kid! Kid! How do you feel, knowing that Dr. Horrible killed your mother!" a reporter shouted.
"Why'd you kill her!" another questioned.
Heinz was too in shock to answer anyone, but he saw Phineas cowering from them.
"Why did you leave your mother and allow him to kill her? Do you care for the villain?"
That was the last straw...Phineas wouldn't take any blame for this. No, Heinz would play the role of villain he always knew he was meant to be. It was the only way to truly protect Phineas now.
"Phineas had nothing to do with this," Heinz replied, "his mother's death was all my doing. The boy will come with me, and nobody will say otherwise."
Phineas looked up at Heinz sniffling...what was he doing?
Here lies everything
The world i wanted at my feet
My victory is complete
So hail to the king
(everything you ever)
Arise and sing
Heinz picked up Linda's corpse, and he placed it on a gurney. After that, he snatched Phineas' hand harshly. Phineas couldn't tell what he was doing, but honestly he didn't care.
So your world's benign
So you think justice has a voice
And we all have a choice
Well now your world is mine
(everything you ever)
And I am fine
Heinz held Phineas' arm as they took Linda away. As soon as they were alone, Heinz eased his grip on Phineas' arm, and he wrapped his arm around him...Phineas didn't need to face the press. It was then Phineas realized Heinz's plan here. He'd take the heat for his mother's murder and keep the boy in his care...but that was to keep him out of the foster system. They'd live the lie that he was his prisoner, but really this was the best thing for Phineas. They both loved Linda very much after all.
Days passed as the citizens got used to Horrible's rule now. He'd made his mark for sure. Hammer went to therapy about the first time he's ever felt pain...not the loss of his girlfriend. Oh no, the pain he felt in his chest and his defeat. Not even a shred of worry for the child she left behind either. That proved Phineas belonged with Dr. Horrible. Nobody dared question the boy if and when he was ever seen. Phineas played his part of prisoner well.
Meanwhile, the ELE threw a big party to welcome their newest villain. Heinz left Phineas home to stay away from all this villain stuff. He even changed into a new outfit to seem more menacing. While everybody outside saw Horrible as the threatening villain that murdered a woman for no reason…
Now the nightmare's real
Now Dr. Horrible is here
To make you quake with fear
To make the whole world kneel
(everything you ever)
And i won't feel
Two people knew that deep down inside...Heinz was a broken man who'd killed his true love and made and innocent child, one of his only friends...and orphan...broken inside.
A thing
But nobody outside Heinz's penthouse would know that...at least not for a long time.
A/N: I know, I know, a different ending than the movie but you know what? My story! Deal with it lol. Anyway there will be a brief sequel involving the aftermath and Phineas' feelings after all this. I hope you all liked it. Would appreciate a review and look forward to the brief sequel
"Son of Horrible."
Have a great day everyone. Carpe Diem!
