Lily and I turned this one over a few times, hopefully you all enjoy the end result!
Kikuoka held his head in his hands as he tried to keep the pain throbbing within at bay while Tsunayoshi, Hayato, and Nagi made their presence known which forced him to let out a tired sigh as he took in their exhausted visages.
"The reaction?" He muttered out without releasing his hands from his head, more out of the fear of it falling apart than anything else at the moment.
Nagi glanced between her cohorts a few moments before speaking up, "As for the relationship development, oddly enough, fairly accepting."
Kikuoka blinked a few times before sitting up and glanced towards Hayato's nervous visage while letting out a succinct, "Wait, what?"
The white haired man shrugged slightly while averting his gaze before replying, "Shocked me too but most people in our age group and below don't really care about the same sex relationship thing. As for the older generations it is kind of a case of those that matter don't care, and those that care don't matter. Honestly..."
"Most people think they're adorakable," Nagi stated flatly, though there was a hint of a smile on her lips as she stated that.
"What." It wasn't a question, but a mere statement of complete and utter disbelief. Had that mind bogglingly stubborn child and her girlfriend managed to break society?!
Tsunayoshi let out a tired sigh as he shrugged lightly, "Honestly I think the general populace had not quite understood the true reality of the situation these kids found themselves in until the Player Killers struck the innocent solely to draw the Black Queen out."
Hayato nodded quickly at that, "Look everyone who has watched these kids up to this point has to have realized that Kirito... well...she doesn't care...about anything about our social standards...at all."
Nagi sighed and continued for him, "It's just that to Asuna and Kirito, they could die in the next five minutes so why care regardless? I mean really, if you knew in the next thirty seconds your chauffeur could beat you to death with a window scraper would you bother skirting about society standards? That kind of pure honesty and understanding evokes feelings of sympathy and if not approval, then at the very least a subdued acceptance for their romance. After all, either of them could die at any moment."
Kikuoka cocked his head to the side a fraction a of a second, then nodded, "Holy shit...we can work with this..."
Then Tsunayoshi let out a tired sigh, "Yeah...unfortunately there is the entire...killing people thing going on..."
Goddamnit...
There was a phrase bandied about called the "Train Wreck Effect," that essentially boiled down to one witnessing something so horrific, that they could not possibly look away as they took in the carnage displayed before them.
At this point in time though, moments after Asuna and Keiko broke off their kiss, it was more along the lines of seeing something so hilarious you could not help but to break out laughing.
Suguha and Kou had been talking about the various grants and sponsorship's being offered out that amounted to little more than bribes for their sister's when the two girls kissed, laughed, then cuddled. Suguha was silent for a few moments, met Kou's gaze, they both looked concerned for a moment, then broke out laughing. Their sisters were complete dorks, but at the very least they were their dorks.
Keiko took Asuna's hand and pulled it to her side tugging her along as her brows furrowed in consternation.
Asuna was willing to allow this, at least as far enough as the edge of town before Kirito came to a stop and let go of her hand. Nodding slowly she turned towards Asuna, and smiled before chirping out two words.
"Marry me?"
Asuna froze, and shuddered, shaking her head she began walking away as the panicking Keiko rushed to her side.
"I...I'm sorry, I don't know what I did but I'm sorry for it, really! You don't have to marry me I just thoug-"
She was cut off as Asuna leaned forward and kissed her, letting go a few moments later she let out a dark laugh while shaking her head slowly, "You are not...the only one with a past..."
Asuna sighed and glanced to the side a moment before letting out an annoyed growl, it would never be approved of by her mother, and that made her smile. "My mother is living vicariously through me, experiencing her teenage years she never actually allowed herself to experience through me... and...I'm failing her..."
She grit her teeth together and let out growl, "Look, my mother, she...I do not hate her, really, but...I do... I really do..."
Keiko blinked at that and tilted her head to the side while Asuna let out a tired sigh. "My mother rose above her station with her chosen method...which was to spread her legs for my father... She, in her infinite wisdom decided I would have to follow the same methods as her, and more or less betrothed me to a man I despise... and she already came up with a method to force me to marry him without my consent. I can only imagine what she can pull off with me stuck in here..."
Keiko was silent for a time, then shrugged, "It's still all 'till death do you part' right?"
Asuna froze up, and nodded before whispering out, "What are you going to do?"
Kirito shrugged, "I killed a man to save a girl I had known for less than a week. Really, what do you think I would do for my girlfriend?"
Asuna stared at Kirito for several long moments, then eventually smiled which encouraged her a bit. "Why?"
"I...think I love you?" Keiko said while scratching the side of her head in confusion.
"I mean I do know I don't know for certain and I know you all just think I'm a kid and-" she was interrupted by Asuna, who pulled her into a kiss, and soon the redhead laughed.
"I know you, you wonderful idiot."
Keiko...was okay with that, but sighed regardless.
"I also know you are a romantic..."
Asuna was silent which was a confirmation of it's own, Keiko nodded slowly as she took a knee and grasped Asuna's hand in her own, "Asuna, will you do me the great honor of being my wife? I...think that's how this thing works...oh bloody hell I ruined the whole romance angle I was shooting for didn't I? Goddamnit Suguha is going to-"
Asuna clicked, 'Accept' on her menu while shouting "Yes!", snogged her startled, then rather enthusiastic new wife, grabbed her wrist, and ran away laughing.
Kirito had no idea what was going on with her life at that moment...but she was ok with that.
It was a new experience, being completely irresponsible. It wasn't anything she would indulge in often, but..she definitely saw its appeal.
Both Queens would have been far more reserved if they had known about their upcoming coronation...
Unfortunately for them Argo was keeping quiet about the entire thing, for one reason only.
She found it bloody hilarious that her best friends were going to be the last ones to know about it.
Long live the queens!
The people surrounding her wondered why she was giggling to herself, and that was fine, no matter what she would get the last laugh on her best friends and really, isn't that all that mattered?
Argo, the Queen of Trolls.
