"The nerve. What are you doing with your face? Is this a joke to you?" Nighteye said.
"Uh no. I guess not." Izuku said.
"You attempted this blasphemous impersonation on All Might's former sidekick?" Nighteye said as he grabbed onto Izuku's face. "All Might's wrinkles aren't like this at all, you fool."
"Um...what?" Tsumugi asked.
"In his early days, All Might's crow's feet were .6 centimeters long. From the Silver Age on, they were .8. Even knockoff merchandise manages to get the correct measurements for the correct era. And you don't even know that much?" Nighteye said.
"Why does he…" Tsumugi said looking around the room to notice all of the All Might paraphernalia all across the room from standees to figurines to even posters. "I know the signs. This man is...a major fan."
"I don't care for this one bit. You all can see yourselves out." Nighteye said.
"The Vinegar River incident. Are you not aware of it? A middle schooler whose quirk can change the properties of water fell into a river and All Might went to save him. The kid panicked and changed the river into vinegar and got into All Might's eyes. Since then he always looked slightly different. That was the look I was imitating." Izuku said.
"I know this rescue. It was before we teamed up. Apparently the child's volatile home life was to blame." Nighteye said.
After a bit of exchange, the two stood before his desk.
"So you two want to do a work study here because you believe it'll make the two of you stronger." Nighteye said.
"Of course. Allow us in." Tsumugi said.
"We would need to draw up some contracts." Nighteye said.
"I have them right here." Izuku said.
"Please do not interrupt me." Nighteye said as the two contracts were displayed. "Keep this in mind, both of you. Once I stamp these contracts, you two will be officially contracted with my agency for the work study. Please keep in mind this is not like the week long internships that were done earlier in the year. You must work here for a minimum of 4 months and be paid wages. You two will fall behind the rest of your classmates due to missing classwork."
"It is expected but we will continue on." Tsumugi said.
"Very well." Nighteye said as he stamped Tsumugi's contract while when he got to Izuku's, he simply stamped next to that document.
"Uh...I...I think you missed." Izuku said.
"Because I am not approving this." Nighteye said. "I understand how working here would be beneficial for you but how would it benefit me? It works smoothly with two sidekicks and a work study student. I don't mind bringing the girl in given the reputation of the group she's a part of. While I am aware of the group reputation you are part of, why the hell would I add you on? How would you contribute to me? To others? These are questions you need to answer. All Might showed his worth using humor and power. That's why they acknowledged him. Now it's time you showed me what you can bring, using actions, not words. 3 minutes." he said holding the seal. "You have 3 minutes to take this seal from me. Mirio, Bubble Girl, Tsumugi...you three will go outside and come back once 3 minutes are up."
"Understood, sir." Tsumugi said.
The three of them quickly left as a lot of noise could be heard from inside.
"Wow, sounds like they're really tearing it up in there." Bubble Girl said.
"Mirio, did you do anything like that when you joined?" Tsumugi asked.
"Oh no. Sir asked for me specifically to join." Mirio said laughing.
"You really are the golden boy to him." Bubble Girl said as they stopped by the vending machine.
"Though...doesn't seem like he's going to let Midoriya join." Mirio said.
"What do you….does this have something to do with Nighteye's quirk?" Tsumugi asked.
"His quirk is Foresight." Mirio said.
"I've heard about those kinds of abilities. They allow you to take a glimpse into the future and read your opponent's moves ahead of time." Tsumugi said.
"Yes. And his can see the actions of a single person for up to an hour." Bubble Girl said.
"And with three minutes...he'll easily defeat Izuku." Tsumugi said. "From the sound of things in the room...its getting wild. Still...why go this far? Unless...is this...judging him because of his connection to All Might?" she pondered. "That has to be it."
Once three minutes had passed, the three of them returned to the room to find it a complete mess.
"So you're done, right sir?" Bubble Girl asked.
"Yes. I'll take the boy, Mirio." Nighteye said.
"What? But...I didn't do any of the things you asked." Izuku said.
"I never said I would turn you away if you failed. I was planning to take you on once I heard you were coming. The Symbol of Peace is gone. They're looking for a dazzling light, not a dim light. You will be working with pros. By the end...you'll see you are not fit to take up his mantle." Nighteye said.
"I see. He's taking him on...to make him give up." Tsumugi said to herself.
"I look forward to working with you." Izuku said.
Later back at the dorms…
"Well...congrats. You two did well securing a place to work like that." Jexi said. "Sure you two will do just fine."
"Thanks, Jexi. It's going to be a little tough going through it in the time allotted, but I'd say we have nothing to worry about." Tsumugi said.
"Yeah. We got signed on today too." Himeno said. "It's not going to be too bad."
"Yeah. Definitely." Mermista said.
"By the way, Tokoyami...I ran into Aizawa earlier. He says that Hawks wants you onto the work study program too." Himeno said.
"Hawks? He's the number three hero, that's amazing news." Hope said. "Congratulations, Tokoyami."
Tokoyami simply ignored this and accepted the request.
The next day at the Nighteye Agency…
"Today we will be doing patrols and surveillance. I will be with Bubble Girl. Mirio, take Midoriya and Shirogane." Nighteye said.
"Surveillance?" Izuku asked.
"The agency is currently working on a special operation right now." Bubble Girl said as they showed a file.
"Shie Hassaikai is a small organized crime syndicate. This man is Kai Chisaki. As the young head, he's second in command. He's been acting strangely lately. This plague mask is his trademark." Nighteye said.
"Creepy. But I thought there wasn't much trouble with organized crime lately since the police know who they are and monitor their movements." Izuku said.
"It's been like that since the big groups broke up but he's been bringing them back together again but we don't know why. The details are unclear but we do know he made contact with the League of Villains, the New Universal Villains and the Anarchy Kings recently." Bubble Girl said.
"The Anarchy Kings aren't that much of a problem. Backed up by the Shie Hassaikai and the New Universal Villains, though… We mustn't let down our guard." Tsumugi said.
"Unfortunately this isn't proof enough to make them villains. They operate in a grey area close to black. Our objective is to tail them and find out what they're up to. Do not rouse suspicion." Nighteye said.
It didn't take long before they were out on patrol.
"Okay...so far things are looking good." Tsumugi said.
"Oh...I almost forgot...we need to exchange hero names." Mirio said.
"Oh that's right. I'm Deku." Izuku said.
"Deku? Like deck? Okay. Call me Le Million. Because I'm gonna be a hero who saves a million people." Mirio said.
"I guess I'm Cosplay Queen, the heroine with a million faces!" Tsumugi said.
"Huh….that name's pretty amazing. We gotta keep on our toes out here." Mirio said.
"Of course, Le Million." Izuku said.
As they walked down the street, a young girl ran out of the alley before running into Izuku.
"Whoa. Are you okay? You really took a tumble." Izuku said as he reached out to her. "Why are you trembling?"
"You should really be more careful." a voice said as they looked into the alley as they saw Chisaki emerging. "You don't want to cause trouble for the heroes. I hope you'll forgive my daughter. She's always so clumsy and running into things."
"It's uh….no trouble." Tsumugi said, calming herself down. "(This is the guy Nighteye is after. But we can't make any moves or else he'll get suspicious.)"
"I know that mask. You're from the Hassaikai right? You guys are pretty famous around here." Mirio said.
"Yeah, please don't mind the mask. It keeps out the filth. Don't think I've seen any of you in the area before." Overhaul said.
"Anyway, we should be going, right?" Mirio said.
"Oh. Right." Izuku said as the girl gripped on tight. "She...she won't let go."
"Please...please don't go." she muttered in fear.
"She...seems terrified." Izuku said.
"No…" Tsumugi said quietly.
"A reaction from being scolded." Overhaul said.
"Look. We just need to…" Tsumugi said before noticing. "She's got bandages on her arms and legs."
"Eri's a very clumsy girl. That's all." Overhaul said.
"Tell me...what are you doing to this girl?" Izuku asked.
"Hmm...maybe you three should come back here...so we can talk privately." Overhaul said, pointing to the alley behind him as he slowly reached for one of his gloves. Seeing this, Eri let go of Izuku and ran to his side. "Done with your little temper tantrum?" he asked as she shook her head yes. "We'll be going then. Take care. Good luck with your internships." he said disappearing into the alley with the girl.
"But Eri…" Izuku said.
"Don't. Didn't you see? He was about to get violent. Let's just report to Sir and call it a day." Mirio said.
"Good idea." Tsumugi said.
Meanwhile at the Hassaikai headquarters…
"Ugh...it gets worse everyday. Those three were infected with hero syndrome." Overhaul said. "Chrono...prepare a bath."
"Yes, Overhaul." one of the masked men said as they carried Eri.
"I'm sorry sir. I looked away for a second and…" one of the grunts said before he ended up getting killed by Overhaul.
"And clean that up." he said before looking at the Anarchy King Elders. "It's your lucky day. One of you will be appointed as Eri's caretaker for the time being."
As Overhaul and Chrono walked off, the three looked at each other.
"I ain't watching that girl." Heat Wave said. "I'm not dyin' a pile of blood and guts. Rapper, you watch the kid."
"I ain't got no death sentence. Ultraman, you get the penance." MR said.
"Fine, I'll handle it. Shouldn't be too hard." Ultraman responded.
"Still...that girl. You saw how scared she was right?" Heat Wave said. "And those bandages...just what is he doing with her?"
"Why should we care? All I want is to get that beaked guy out of my hair." MR said.
"We all didn't want this. We were forced into this situation." Ultraman said. "But… maybe this could work in our favor. I'll...try and win her over. Yes. Let's see...children like toys. So...I'll give her as many as it takes."
"Why can't you just win her over with your pals?" Heat wave asked.
"I can't let her see my "pals" as you playfully call them. They would without a doubt scare her even more." Ultraman said. "And for the record, they're more than "pals"."
"Like we give a damn. Just get her to like you with your crazy plan." MR said.
"Okay...but it may be difficult. I don't know much about child care." Ultraman said as he walked off.
