Chapter 1: Everybody gets what they Deserve

You know, what is karma?

It is a belief that says that all action that one does, will hold a repercussion that will affect the future of someone.

For better or for worse.

Makoto Naegi liked that. The concept of karma. An invisible and omnipotent force that makes sure that everyone gets what they deserve.

He just arrived from his night job, made the food for his sister and was ready to go to bed for all day. Conway was relatively calmed, even though he rejected another offer for him to go to school.

His phone rang and he opened one lazy eye and saw the name on his phone. It said 'Uncle Tom'.

He closed his eyes, smiled and placed the phone on his ear as he picked up "What's up boss?"

"I got a job for you. A rapist set free thanks to his daddy."

"Hmm... sounds good 'nough. What hour should I go?" Makoto asked with a soft smile.

"11 on clock. I won't even bother to ask you to make it look as an accident or make him disappear. Just... don't fuck up."

Makoto laughed out loud "Fuck up? Me? I'm not Mist."

"Whatever. I'll send you the info by message." After that he decided that his nap will have to wait, due that he might as well have even more fun today.

Once his sister Komaru Naegi arrived they ate and he invited her to the arcade. "It has been like forever since we hanged out!" Komaru exclaimed and Makoto chuckled.

"I decided to give myself a treat after not having vacations since... y'know, mom and dad left." Makoto said with a carefree smile as Komaru nodded smiling softly.

"You deserve it. You are the best big bro I could ever ask for." Makoto ruffled her hair smiling.

"Thanks for the compliment. And we're here." Makoto said looking at the arcade. Komaru grinned as she rushed inside making Makoto chuckle.

He pay for the chips and they stayed there until 10. They walked home, Komaru and Makoto carrying a lot of plushies that the latter won. Midway home, Komaru asked "Hey Makoto?"

"Hm?"

"Don't you want to... go to school?" She asked and Makoto raised a brow.

"Hmm... if I go, how are we going to get money?" He asked rhetorically and Komaru frowned.

"We can live from the money mom and dad left us."

"Hm... maybe. But what when we ran out? Then, I'll have to quit school and go back to my job. So, no. I rather be safe than sorry." Makoto explained and Komaru sighed.

"What's your job anyway? You leave all night and come home every morning."

Makoto smiled and tapped her nose "That's for me to know and for you to find out." He laughed seeing Komaru pout and blush. "Anyway, after I leave you home, I got to go to work. I have 30 minutes before I am late, so let's hurry!"

They arrived home 5 minutes later and Makoto left immediately. He was wearing a green hoodie, black jeans and red sneakers. On the way, he put on some black leather gloves and a medical mask.

He arrived at his destiny 5 minutes earlier and made sure the place was safe. Just like Conway promised.

No cameras.

No escape routes.

No witnesses.

According to Conway, this guy seems to be a real bottom feeder. He was waiting in an alley way with one-way exit. He was supposed to buy some heroin from him.

Five minutes later, a scrawny, blonde kid showed up and glared at Makoto "You're not my dealer."

Makoto chuckled "Right, that guy was busy tonight. So, I came instead. Name's Karma" He said stretching his right hand to him.

The kid eyed the hand weirdly before slapping it away. Makoto smirked, as from the sleeve, a combat knife slid down, Makoto grabbed the handle of the weapon, and stabbed the guy on the chest.

The victim spit out blood that landed on the mask making Makoto chuckle. "It's funny. Last time you had blood on you, was when you raped that girl, didn't you?" He stabbed him again this time on the stomach.

"Karma... it's such a funny thing." he said dropping the body as the kid clutched his wounds in pain. Makoto looked around and grabbed the guy's wallet, grabbed the cash, threw the wallet away and went home. It was late, so the worry of someone bumping into him was unlikely.

They payment was of 535,000 yens, plus the 250 of the guy's wallet, he can afford to go to the arcade again.

He might be shady and creepy for some, but goddamn, does he loves his life!
